Entry 57: "Wedding Bells" 5.8.80
To quote the perennial classic, "Love and marriage, love and marriage... they go together like a horse and carriage. Let me tell you, brother, you can't have one without the other." Sinatra was right on that one-at least in the most literal sense of the word "love". Based on how Joe and Sarah spent the last three days basically locked in their new room aside from meals I can imagine-but won't for the risk of disgusting myself at the thought of one of my close friends' intimate life-a lot of loving happening on that queen-sized mattress.
The wedding was quite nice, if I may say so myself. Joe's catholic and so is Sarah, so at least I didn't have to worry about trying to figure out how to coordinate an inter-faith wedding (which I slightly dread given how I have no idea how to switch between Latin, English, and Hebrew with any accuracy or speed)-but beyond that the ceremony itself was quite pleasant. Most of the weddings in the Vault are similar-flowers from hydroponics, the exchanging of the rings, and the decorations themselves rarely change due to the highly planned nature of a Vault-Tec approved wedding. As they concluded the ceremony I thought how Nora and I are going to get married next month. It's weird, to say the least, to have something that big to look forward to.
I guess if anything I'm excited and nervous all at once. Once we're married she'll move into my room-given how I'm on my own-which means that we'll be allowed to engage in sanctioned, well, you can fill in the blank. I'll admit it, I'm still a virgin-and honestly the quality of sexual education even in surface school was lacking. I've tried to look up some things in the library but anything even remotely related to intercourse is restricted to married couples-and even then, it's only with the consent of the librarian. And Mrs. Johansson isn't exactly sexually liberated.
In any case I guess I'll figure it out come June 17th.
