Kim Possible: Vamped

Dr. Director hung up the phone, and Agent Du stared at her incredulously.
"You just told the head of the FCC to get lost."
"Apparently, Hardbed has more connections than we realized. While some of them do suspect someone is targeting him as he claims, enough dirty linen has come out of that particular closet that I suspect some of those connections were bought or extorted."
"I see. Yet you don't think we should…?"
"No. Besides, they are only concerned some of them might go down with the man. It's Kimberly, William," Dr. Director finally said only then. "All of it. It's her. Hardbed instigated and encouraged the attack on Middleton with….certain unsavory contacts. That can't be proven, of course, but I do believe the report."
"From Possible?"
"From Ronald. Kimberly destroyed said contacts. Literally. Now she's destroying Hardbed. In this case, I have to not only feel she's justified…."
"And we couldn't stop her anyway."
"Not without Kimberly deciding that Global Justice is her enemy, too."
Will grimaced, one hand involuntarily going to a rib that still pained him at times.
"A less than encouraging scenario," he allowed.
"Yes. As bad as his public humiliation, it seems the man has been up to a lot of very bad things all along. So far as GJ is considered, though, it's just an overdue accounting coming out. We have no evidence of any wrongdoing or extortionists trying to undermine Hardbed."
"Considering the lives he cost, I cannot say he isn't due since the law can hardly charge him with no real evidence."
"This isn't about law, William. Recall your lessons on preternatural psychology. Middleton remains Kimberly's territory in her mind. Hardbed trespassed. He's lucky she didn't shred him by inches."
"Instead, she's destroying his career, life, and standing. If it keeps on, no one will ever listen to him again even if…."
"Exactly. Which is when the man is likely going to….disappear," Dr. Director predicted.
"I see."
"And we won't see a thing. Understand, William?"
"Doesn't this prove she is the threat that we feared….?"
"Agent Du, she stood and defended Middleton from a threat that could have unleashed a plague on us all. I doubt either of those imbeciles realized how far those leeches could have spread if Kim and her team had not reacted so fast or so well in containing them. So far as I am concerned, Kim remains on the side of the angels."
"Because we couldn't stop her even if she wasn't," Will Du muttered sourly.
"We won't discuss that. Nor will you repeat it outside of this office. Now, carry on, Agent Du. Just continue to ignore any requests for aid from Hardbed or his remaining associates."
Will nodded but said nothing as he walked out, looking far from pleased. Only he knew Dr. Director was right. There wasn't a thing they could do either way. Not in this matter.
Kim Possible wouldn't let them.

"She's here," Dana smiled uneasily as they heard the distinctive old truck Amy had recently bought pull up into their drive.
"Trust her, sweetie," Kim told her. "We both know she loves you."
"But will she trust me if she has…figured it out?"
"Let's find out, shall we," she said and went to the door before Amy could knock.
Shego was off shopping just then as they had all been around the house of late with no missions or shifts, and so were eating more than usual since they weren't going out.
"Hello, Amy. Nice to see you again," Kim said as the blue-eyed blonde smiled. Then Amy looked past Kim and smiled saying, "Dana. You're looking good."
"Uhm, thanks," Dana murmured.
"She's a little worried you came down here to dump her."
"Why would I do that," Amy gasped. "I love you, you goof. Hasn't everything we've gone through proven that?"
"She can still be thick," Kim smiled, tapping on Dana's head.
"Hey!"
"She always was," Amy smiled. "So, you don't mind me staying for the week, do you? I really do have a few things to talk about."
"Oh?"
"Yeah. With both of you," she said.
"Sure," Kim nodded, showing no concern.
"I heard about your….friend. I'm really sorry," Amy said as Kim closed the door once she was inside.
"Thank you. She wasn't the only one to die, though. We lost some neighbors, and some good friends," Kim said.
"The news showed enough for me to see you guys stopped them, though. You saved everyone else."
"Not everyone," Amy was told as Dana looked away as they went to the couch and chairs.
Kim took a chair as the two girls sit close on the couch, which told Kim that whatever was on her mind, Amy wasn't that worried about Dana.
"Even the best can never save everyone. It's a hard truth, but we can't," Kim said. "It just hurts more when those we know are among the lost."
"I get that," Amy nodded. "I'm just glad you're okay," she told her girlfriend as she hugged her briefly.
"So, uh, what did you want to talk about," Dana asked.
"Well, I think by now it's pretty obvious you aren't just using a cosmetic application. How did you two turn into vampires," she asked bluntly.
Dana gaped, her mouth moving soundlessly.
"Bear in mind, I have a great uncle who is the family black sheep. That's because he's a werecat."
"Really," Dana blurted.
"Really. Dad used to love to threaten us with him when we were growing up, warning us the devil would come for us, too, if we didn't listen to him," Amy grimaced.
"Wow," Kim rolled her eyes. "Just wow."
"Yeah," Amy nodded. "I think you know by now, Dana sure does. My dad isn't the warm and fuzzy type."
"Well…. Ah, that is…."
"I turned Dana to save her life last year," Kim told Amy while Dana stammered. "I was turned a year before that when I faced a vampire in Europe and lost."
"Oh. Wow, but…that still leaves one heck of a story in those words, doesn't it," Amy said.
Kim nodded at Dana.
Amy looked at her girlfriend and saw Dana looking uneasy now, and smiled.
"C'mon, silly. I told you I had figured it out. Only I could also see you're still you, and you're still the girl I love. If I weren't sure of that, I would have never come down to see you."
"Really," Dana asked.
"Really, really," Amy told her as a horn honked outside.
"Sounds like Shego is back from shopping. How about we get you settled, and help Shego unload, and we'll talk later. Don't worry, we'll let you know everything. You just have to promise not to say a word."
"Absolutely," Amy nodded, standing up with them as she did. "I'd never hurt the girl that means more to me than anyone in the world."
For a moment Kim just stared at her as the pair walked to the door and opened it. Then she smiled and walked over to join them as they went outside to help unload Shego's car and Amy's truck.

"So, I guess the only real question I have left is…. Those stories about you guys living next to forever. Is that real?"
Kim eyed the young woman after they had shared an abbreviated version of their misadventures that left Kim and Dana joining as mother and daughter in their own eyes if no one else's. Which still amused Amy. Still, she was more than glad her lover had someone to stand by her when no one else would.
"It's real. We'll probably still look the same long after everyone else around us is long dead."
"Oh."
"What are you really asking," Kim asked knowingly.
"I…. I don't want to lose Dana. Only….I don't want her to live alone after watching me die, either. I thought… I thought we could grow old together. Maybe move back and torment the old neighbors that always mocked us. You know, being crazy old lesbians together," Amy smiled at Dana. "Only now…."
"Oh, Amy. I would hate to lose you, too. Only you don't realize…. There is a lot of pain that comes with this life, too. A lot of trouble, and…."
"We'll talk about it. For now, finish college, and make your life as you already planned," Kim told Amy as she cut Dana off.
"But…"
"You've trusted me so far. As you trusted Dana. Will you keep trusting us," Kim asked.
"I…. I just don't want to be left behind," Amy said quietly.
"Never, baby," Dana hugged her, kissing her cheek and smiling at her.
"We've dropped a lot on you," Kim said as she smiled at the pair. "How about we all go to bed, and you work on accepting just what was already said. As I said, Amy, trust us. We'll figure out something, and give you the chance to build your own life before you have to worry about it ending."
"Ending?"
"You do realize that Dana and I will likely have to fake our deaths soon enough. After all, because we don't age, people might start to notice if we stay in one place too long and too young. Which means sooner or later, Dana and I will have to die again. Or seem to die."
"Oh. I didn't realize…"
"But I'll stay in touch," Dana assured her. "Whatever happens…?"
"Which hopefully won't be for quite a while," Kim assured her.
"I'd love to share my life with you, too, Amy. Just like we dreamed."
"Bed. I can see you're worn out, and Dana needs to rest, too."
"You can sleep with me," Dana offered.
"I was hoping you would ask. You don't mind," Amy turned to ask Kim as the pair rose.
"Go on. You two both need rest," Kim nodded.
Shego came into the room only after the pair disappeared down the hall, and handed Kim a cup of the steaming dark tea she favored of late.
"Are you two really planning on turning that girl?"
"Not now. I'm giving her time to think about it, and if, I stress if that happens, Dana would have to do it herself. She's not ready for that. Not yet."
"Damn, Princess. And if they decided….?"
"I'd ensure nothing went wrong, and Amy was raised properly. Not as a mindless leech."
Shego sat down nursing her own coffee and swore.
"They deserve to be happy," Kim said quietly, staring into the dark liquid in her cup. "Human or preternatural, I just don't see one as much different from the other since having my eyes opened. There's good or bad on both sides, Shego. So why shouldn't those girls have a chance to be happy whatever they are, or aren't," Kim demanded.
"Then why couldn't you raise….?"
"No," Kim hissed. "No. She was already tainted. Even if I tried to raise her, all that would rise would be a mindless leech. That is not how she would want to live, and that is not how I want to see her end. She died a hero. Saving others. That's not something you dismiss lightly."
"I get that, Kimberly," Shego remarked, "But what about you?"
Kim finally lifted her cup to sip from the bitter liquid that had slowly become a favored drink of late. Likely, she felt, because it was once Krelandra's, and Kim had first tried it out of curiosity only to find she enjoyed it.
"Kimberly," Shego asked, not using any nicknames just then.
"I think my happiness died with me over two years ago," Kim said, as solemn as Shego had seen her in all this time.
"I saw Hardbed on the news again. Seems someone is coming out with new evidence he blackmailed his way onto the air at the start, and his first stories were now all suspect since he faked a lot of them, and planted evidence to create the others."
"Doesn't surprise me," Kim murmured and then sipped her tea.
"Kim…."
"Go to bed, Shego. You're tired, too. I appreciate your helping, and I appreciate you making Amy welcome. Only I know you're worn out after this week, too. Go on. I'll be turning in soon."
"I liked her, too," Shego said as she stood up, staring down at Kim. "I'm sorry. Life sucks, and then….it punches you in the face. Me with a comet. You with a vampire."
"Talk about punchlines," Kim tried to joke but showed no humor.
"Yeah," Shego nodded. "Goodnight, Princess."
"Goodnight, Shego," Kim murmured, and kept staring at the tea more than drinking it just then.
