Getting Back To Normal
Selena's P.O.V.
It turns out I had a mild concussion from that fall I took at the garage. With a throbbing headache that would come and go, I was stuck on bed rest for the foreseeable future.
It was frustrating. A hit to the head is what took me down. And I had nothing to do in my empty room except to look at my ceiling, where the glow-in-the-dark stars stuck. Mom would come into my room once in a while to check up on me and give me food and water. She pampered me like if I were a baby and I admit it felt good to be pampered. But I wasn't going to say that out loud to anyone. Sam also visited me, but he mostly fixed up his room, helping mom clean up the house and throw away anything he didn't need. It seemed that Mikaela being in his room was the final piece to convince Sam to clean up his mess.
Falling asleep in my almost bare room was strange without Kain by my side. It was like if a part of me was missing, and it might as well have been since Kain was like my child or ward. He would sometimes sleep next to me, curled and snuggling against my side on my bed. Sometimes I'd awake with an imprint on my cheek due to leaning my head towards Kain. Other times, Kain would lay snuggled against me like a cat, always warm and comfortable.
During my rest, sometimes I would have these flashes of metal and white light and dark mountains. I wondered if they were just memories or images that my brain created for me to stress around.
But the images were worse in my dreams. And much clearer.
The flashes of metal turned out to be the bodies of nine tall Cybertronians who were gathered around me in a circle. They were bulky and sharp and ancient-looking. And their limbs looked long and sharp with those pointy looking fingers that looked more like claws. The metals of their body moved with their shifting, seeming to slide over smoothly. They stood still around me, seeming to be looking down at me, but I couldn't tell because of the light.
There was a very bright light overhead and it felt as if I were looking at the sun. Except that this light was bigger than the sun. And it was white and so bright, that it made it very difficult to look at the faces of the Cybertronians and identify them individually. Due to that, all of them started to look the same in every turn I looked.
Except for the fact that there was one Cybertronian that had a blue-greyish tint of color over their whole frame and a black cloth hanging behind them like a cape. It was the only Cybertronian that I could identify due to its color.
Dark mountains would be behind them, surrounding us all. They were just as tall as the Cybertronians, the peaks pointy. They curved around us and it almost felt like if I were in the center of a crater.
Everything was so clear in my dreams, but I could hear nothing. I didn't know if they were talking to me. The last time I saw them in a similar vision, they just surrounded me and one of them brought their pointy finger at me. However, my dreams of them were short-lived.
Getting our home furniture wasn't so bad. We got to choose what we wanted, and in the end, we sent the bill to the government.
My week has been busy dealing with movers fixing up my bed and other house furniture. I got a sweet new desk and a bed that wasn't a twin. Plus, a purple lava lamp for my new desk. More clothes replaced the ones I had and a new rug decorated the floor of my room. New picture frames hung on the walls of my room and books laid in order on a new bookshelf. It was all a sweet deal for me and my dad never complained once.
In fact, I think he was the one to take the most advantage of the government's deal, charging them with millions for gardening supplies and decor. The whole living room got a remodel, with newly painted walls and a couch that didn't smell like sweat. The tv we had was now a wide flat-screen tv that hung on the wall with a better sound system. The rug in the living room was also changed with one that didn't have a wine stain on it.
And now that we had a new fridge back in, there was food for us to eat and preserve. Mojo even got a new food bowl, which his original had oddly disappeared in some weird circumstances.
Overall, my family was satisfied. Even Sam, who is the hoarder and junkman of the family, was happy. But that may be because Mikaela would visit him almost every day.
Bumblebee kept me company. Without Kain, I felt lonely. But Bee's small holoform stuck around, talking to me. It was interesting seeing him talk with his human mouth since he couldn't do so with his real form. Ratchet had kept Bee in a strict 'no talking' healing way. He didn't want Bee to overwork his vocal cords, although he said "voice box" and not vocal cords.
Bee was genuinely curious about all of the things I did. He would watch me with this intense gaze as I moved around my room putting clothes away, or moving furniture around. It sucked he couldn't help me move things around, and even if he could touch things, his form of a child wouldn't be much help. Yet his intense blue eyes would look at everything that I touched. He even looked at the pictures I had hung up, sometimes smiling and other times asking me questions about them. It made me happy to know that he cared, yet embarrassed because he could sometimes ask some of the most embarrassing questions ever.
"It's been a long time since I've been inside of a human home. Most of the time I'm on the run hiding and don't have time to look through the changes of the time." Bee said, laying down in the center of my room. He was looking up at the glow-in-the-dark stars that were stuck to the ceiling.
I scrunched up my eyebrows, confused. "You've been inside a human house before?" I asked him. I couldn't envision it. Somehow, a giant alien robot inside a house seemed impossible to imagine. Unless of course if the house was a size bigger than the Cybertronian.
Bee looked at me from where I sat on my bed. It was weird because his holoform never blinked or showed any emotion.
"I have, back in 1987." He said.
I almost fell back on my bed, flabbergasted. With eyes squinted, I peered down at him.
"In 1987? Okay, now I'm interested. You gotta tell me that story." I said. I knew he has been around on Earth for a while, but I didn't know he has been here since the '80s.
Bee sat up and tilted his head to the side. "Why?"
"Ugh, what do you mean why? This is something about you that I didn't know about. Now that I think about it, I don't know much about you, but whatever. Just tell me, please!" I babbled and pleaded with him.
Bee nodded. "Okay. Well, in 1987, I had a run-in with some Secter 7 agents somewhere in California. I was really injured and needed to go into stasis to rest and recuperate. I honestly thought I was going to die." He murmured at the end. "Well, Charlie found me and brought me back to health, fixing me up, and taking care of me. It turned out that I had some memory data damage and couldn't remember who I was or what I had been doing before I ended up with her."
I listened to him, sucking up everything he said. I was so invested in what he was saying, that I almost missed the part where he was talking about him having memory problems.
"Wait, hold up!" I said, hands up and waving them around. He stopped speaking, looking at me. "You had amnesia? Oh my God, are you okay? Do you need to go back to Ratchet and have a check-up?" I asked him, worried. What if he hit his head hard during the Battle in Mission City and needs help right now? I don't think I remember him having a head checkup like an MRI scan to see if he was okay. Maybe Ratchet could help look over him and check if he's okay?
Bee fizzled out and came back, standing up and looking down at me. "It's okay, Selena. I'm okay. My memory came back and I'm back in tune with my health. Nothings wrong anymore." He said.
I took and deep breath and sighed. "I'm just checking. I care for you, Bee." I told him.
Bee just stared unemotionally down at me. "You can't see it, but I'm smiling right now," he said.
That brought a smile to my face.
In the end, we never got to have his story finished since my mom chose that time to intrude into my room and call me out for dinner.
Bee was honestly charming in the form he was in. He was an adorable child and my mom would coo at him whenever she would see him. When she first met him in his holoform, she had tried to pinch his cheeks but his form had fizzled out. It was honestly weird watching my mom do that. Sam had agreed right next to me. Dad wasn't so much as swayed by his adorableness. That isn't surprising since dad is very hard to sway and charm. Not even a salesman could convince my father into buying whatever they're selling.
By the end of the week, I was all healed up. Plus, the visions of the weird Cybertronian's had stopped appearing in my dreams and I soon forgot about them. I had not much time to think about it since I had other things to deal with. Such as creating a legit story to say to my friends and school why Sam and I've been missing for three weeks.
All through it all, Bee stuck around and commenced his role as Sam and I's guardian. Which Sam took full advantage of since Bee was obviously the newer model of the Camaro. I wonder sometimes if Bee even minded having Sam flaunt him around in the neighborhood.
By the start of next week, I was nervous to go back to school. Sure, I had a new wardrobe, a new backpack, and a new phone, but none of that mattered when Kain wasn't with me. I did communicate with the other bots through Bee and I always talked to Kain, but it was different not having him with me.
Bee drove Sam and me to school, parking at the student parking lot. It seemed like the whole student population of Tranquility High was looking at Sam and me as we stepped out of Bee's autoform. I wouldn't have minded the staring if it weren't for the fact that I was nervous someone would find out Bee was an alien. I couldn't let that happen. So I reminded Bee that he had to stay in the parking lot until we came back to get him because people would freak if they saw the Camaro drive by itself.
Mikaela waited for us at the end of the student parking lot and when she saw us parking, she followed. When Sam walked to the front of Bee's autoform, Mikaela sprang up and into his arms, hugging him and kissing him on his lips. That sure must have gobsmacked the whole school because it sure ain't something everyone sees's except in movies. Like, what sort of world are you in where the loser gets the popular girl?
I rolled my eyes at the pair, tapped Bee's hood, and said "Later."
Going through school was so difficult. Every time someone asked me where I've been, I wanted to say that I was fighting a war, but didn't. Instead, I said Sam, Mikaela, and I was in a car accident with some government official that had us injured and on bed rest. I had lost my phone in the crash, which is why I couldn't get in contact with anyone at school. The government lent us money in compensation for the accident and bought Sam a new Camaro. That was the story we were going on and it's the only one that made sense and sort of stuck to the truth.
No one questioned it.
Miles, Sahira, Diana, and Elizabeth were really surprised when Sam and Mikaela almost sat together and held hands everywhere they went. They gapped at me when I told them that they were going out after the whole car accident made them realize their whole feelings for each other, which I wasn't even sure was true or not. Sahira was the most disappointed in the news, still holding some feelings for Sam. Miles, however, had stars in his eyes.
"Does this mean I got a chance with Candace?"
Diana sighed and I didn't bother telling him "no." Look, I know I said that the loser got the popular girl in the end, but I don't mean every loser was going to get the popular girl.
Mr. Hosney wasn't barking at me about Sam anymore, although he did still talk to me about after school programs I could take to help me with my college applications. I wonder if Mikaela was reining in Sam from selling junk to random students.
After school ended, I was exhausted. I had at least a month worth of homework in my backpack and several chapters I had to catch up on. It seemed to all weight my bag like a giant boulder and I feared I would have a hunch back soon.
The good thing was that Bumblebee was still parked where we left him with not a single scratch on him. That was until Trent leaned against Bee's hood with a football in his arms. His jock friends stood in front of him, talking while they obviously waited for Sam and me to arrive.
Sam, oblivious of the danger that laid ahead, went up to his car looking to be almost skipping while holding Mikaela's hand. They were looking at each other in the eyes, grinning.
"Well well well, if it ain't Sam Witloser. Who do you think you are showing your face around here? Especially with my girl." Trent said, sneering at Sam. Sam let go of Mikaela, frowning at Trent.
"It's Witwicky. Come on, Trent, I go here. It's a public school. And last time I heard, you and Mikaela are over." Sam said sternly. At least he still had some balls to stand up to Trent after facing off with Megatron.
Trent didn't look happy at all. He palmed the football in his hands and stepped towards Sam.
"You think you're so cool now just cause you have a new car. But my little bunny will hop off soon when she gets tired of you and your car." He said. That grossed me the hell out and it looked like it did so to Mikaela.
Mikaela sneered up at Trent and pushed him away from her and Sam. "Okay, first of all, back up, Trent. Second of all, I'm not your little bunny or anyone else's. Third of all, fuck off, Trent." She said firmly.
Trent lifted his hands to the air and stepped back. "Okay, so you're still hooked up on his dick. I should have known you were such a whore. I wonder what daddy would say when he finds out." Trent's pack of jocks snickered behind him and the student population watching gasped. I just knew that rumors were going to spread and throw dirt on Mikaela.
Mikaela stumbled back in shock. "That's not true!"
Sam came into her defense, choosing to punch Trent in the face. Trent's head snapped to his right, tripping over his own feet and almost falling back if it weren't for his group of friends holding him back up.
I grabbed hold of Mikaela and told her to get into Bee's autoform. By then, Trent was back on his feet and tacking a swing at Sam, who had taken the hit hard. Sam fell onto his back, groaning as he covered his left cheek.
"Oh, you're so gonna get it now," Trent said.
Bee's engine then roared to life, scaring some of the students. It snapped Trent from straddling Sam's stomach and beating him up in the face. And I was thankful for the distraction because I was able to grab a hold of Sam, drag him up, and push him towards Bee.
Sam scrambled towards the car and Trent shouted after us. I could have sworn I felt a brush of his hand grabbing my hair, but we were soon inside the car and Bee did not waste time in pulling out of the parking lot. Trent almost got run over by Bee, which I'm sure Bee wanted to do so, but couldn't. Because Autobots aren't supposed to kill humans.
The sight of Tranquility High was then gone and so was the danger of Trent. But new problems arose and I did not want to face that sort of music.
A/N: Happy New Years. Welcome to 2021
I hope you all celebrated safely, stayed six feet apart, and held no gatherings. I'm serious. I hope you all have been safe.
It's been a while since I've updated. I know. I've been having some hard times, been in low spirits, and just trying to get through everything. But I finished this and decided to put it up.
I finally got to work on this chapter after I watched the Bumblebee movie and OMG, I loved it. I thought Bee was just so precious and I loved that there was a female Decepticon in it who was the main baddie. I loved it. It brought me back into continuing this story. Plus, I've got nothing else to do during quarantine except to type this chapter out.
Just so you know, I'm going to sort of use bits and pieces of the Bumblebee movie since it's supposed to be like a prequel to the Bayverse Transformers.
So, this chapter isn't the longest I've made, but I hope you enjoyed it. Also, this chapter sort of marks the beginning of problems that Selena, Sam, and Mikaela will face in school as a cause of being absent due to the Battle in Mission City. In other words, just some high school drama, boy troubles, school dances, new friends, old friends, blah blah blah.
Cya next time.
~Toodles~
