Chapter 29: Breaking Chains

Title Song: Power of Will - HDSoundI

Emma nervously gazed around the area as Trudge drove towards the tower of the monkey. She spotted an entire flock of crows and other black feathered birds watching them.

She then heard Leo scream, and glanced back, seeing him freak in his seat. "What's up?" She asked.

"Don't scare me like that Luna…" Leo said.

"You scare me when you scream like that," Luna said back.

"Sorry… just that those are the creepiest birds I've ever seen. It's like they're watching our every move," Leo said.

"This is wrong… you shouldn't have come," Luna said.

"Nah, I'm ok. A little scared, but ok," Leo shook his head.

"It's ok to be scared Leo. Being brave isn't not being scared. Being brave is not the same as not being scared. Being brave is about what you do, even when you do feel scared," Emma said.

"I get it, you're trying to put up a front for me. It's ok," Luna smiled.

Suddenly, both Emma and Luna gasped as a loud cry of pain and fear echoed around them.

"What was that?" Emma asked.

"I heard it too," Luna said.

"I didn't hear anything," Leo offered.

"Nothing but those crows cawing away," Trudge muttered.

"Thought so. Emma, do you think it's the spirit world calling for help?" Luna asked.

"I'm certain of it," Emma nodded.

As she said it, both Winged Kuriboh and Kuribons appeared before their respective owner.

"What is it buddy?" Emma asked. Winged Kuriboh chirped and whined in fear. "Trouble? Where's Burstinatrix?" Emma asked. "Luna, I'm going in." She said.

"So am I. Kuribons is saying the Spirit World is on the edge of collapse," Luna nodded. "I'll be right there." Both were swallowed in a massive beam of light that shot high into the sky.

From Marcus, Sarah and Yusei's trip, Yusei was first to see them. "What's that?!" He asked.

"I think Emma and Luna have been called to the Spirit World," Marcus said.

A moment later, the mark of the monkey lit up in the sky. "Uh… my mark's not glowing," Sarah said.

"Why do I have the horrible feeling that Leo's dug himself a grave?" Marcus asked, before screeching his runner around. "I'm going to check on them. Come with or go on ahead."

With that, he shot away at top speed. He then heard his friends on his flank, and they reached the tower of the monkey.

"What's going on?" Marcus asked, climbing up to where Trudge was stood. "Where's the twins and Emma?"

"Well… Leo's down there. And as for the girls, they've gone AWOL," Trudge said. "Bigger question is why are you three not going towards your own duels?"

"We turned around when we saw that pillar of light. My guess is that Emma and Luna are in the Spirit World," Marcus said.

"Now you're spouting this junk?" Trudge asked. "It's not real."

"It's very real. Emma's always had a strong connection there, and so has Luna. Did you not remember Devak holding up that Synchro card? That's Luna's dragon, Ancient Fairy Dragon," Marcus said.

"Ancient what?" Trudge groaned.

"Never mind. Oi! Devak! That's not Luna! Stop this duel!" Sarah yelled.

"I warned him what he was getting in to. And now that the Shadow Duel has begun, there's no stopping it until one of us is in the netherworld," Devak sneered.

"Leo! You've got to find a way to get outta there!" Yusei called.

"No way! If I can beat this guy, Luna won't have to!" Leo said, and started to duel.

Marcus, Sarah and Yusei could just watch with Trudge, as Leo's most difficult duel yet started.

Emma groaned as her eyes opened. Checking her immediate surroundings, she saw she was in what looked like a forest. "Luna?" She asked, standing up.

No answer. Emma looked around again, frowning as she saw no signs of movement. "Ok… let's think… I'm in a forest… Luna's missing… and… oh…! Leo's probably duelling Devak!" She gasped.

"Who's there?!" A loud voice roared, and Emma found herself facing a lion with white armour, and a golden/orange mane around his face. A weird object, like a staff, was belted to his leg.

"Uh… my name is Emma. I'm a friend to the Elemental HEROs," Emma said. "Who are you?"

"So you came here to hunt for the HEROs? Well you won't find any here!" The lion said.

"Huh?" Emma asked. Wait… he heard the opposite of what I said. Ok… let's try this… "Look. The HEROs are my sworn enemy! I must find and destroy them!" She snapped, sick to her stomach as she spoke.

"Hmm?" The monster said. "Are you their enemy or their ally?" He snarled.

"Their mortal enemy. I won't rest until they're gone for good!" Emma said.

"I see. I apologise," The monster said. "I am Regulus, keeper of this forest."

"Uh… you've got this weird anklet thing. Want it to stay? Or go?" Emma asked.

"Hmm?" Regulus glanced at his hind legs, "Bah! One of Zeman's minus staffs! Use another staff to cancel it out!"

Emma took the nearest staff she could see, and pulled it out of the ground. "Turn the hand to a horrizontal stance," Regulus instructed.

Emma did so, then jammed it at the staff on Regulus' leg, and with a flash of power, both were shattered. "Better?" She asked.

"Very much so. Thank you," Regulus growled.

"Hey King Regulus! We need you!" Both turned at the call.

"That's Luna!" Emma sighed with relief.

"Hmm. Good. She's here at last," Regulus said. "Climb on my back. We shall go greet her together."

"Actually, big kitty… Emma and I have playtime to catch up on." Emma's blood froze as she heard Nui speak, turning to see the girl walking towards them.

Regulus growled in anger. "No. Go help Luna. Free Ancient Fairy Dragon. I'll hold her here," Emma said. "Bring it on Nui!"

"I understand. Good fortune to you Emma," Regulus said. He took off at that.

Emma turned to face Nui, who walked towards her, Duel Disk already active. Emma was about to object, saying she didn't have one, when her mark glowed, a duel disk of pure energy appearing, before solidifying.

"Time we settled our business, once and for all," Emma said, placing her deck into the correct slot.

"Sounds like a plan," Nui giggled, stepping back to be at the correct distance. "You're such a cute girl! I'm gonna make you my favourite doll!"

"DUEL!" Both called out, both marks activating for real, and a purple circle of flame was around them.

Marcus glanced down at his hand. "Good luck Emma… I'll be right here for you. Just give the word!" He said.

"So your sister's started her duel. Good luck to her," Trudge muttered.

"Hm…" Jack noted, glancing at his arm as he rode. "The girl's started…" He mumbled.

"You can beat her Emma…" Kione said, as she followed in Jack's trail.

Nui drew her card. "Let's get the show on the road! I'll set this monster, as well as this face-down card, your go!" She said.

"My turn then!" Emma said. I need to get the ball rolling! Before she gets off too many of her flip effects! "I summon Elemental HERO Wildheart!" She called out.

From the portal emerged a man of dark skin, wearing no armour, instead wearing a collar made of cloth and teeth, a sash around his lower torso and waist, and loose animal skin pants. A large, mean looking blade was strapped to his back.

Elemental HERO Wildheart – EARTH/Warrior – Lvl 4 – (1500/1600)

"He's completely immune to all traps you want to throw his way," Emma quickly spoke up. "Next, I'll activate the equip spell, Cyclone Boomerang! It gives Wildheart an extra five hundred attack point boost!" As she spoke, Wildheart was given his brand-new weapon, a massive boomerang that was almost as big as him.

Elemental HERO Wildheart – (2000/1600).

"Now, Wildheart! Attack her face-down monster!" Emma said, her monster charging across with both sword and boomerang.

Nui's card flipped up as he approached, revealing to be Reeshaddoll Wendi, a girl wearing a short black tank top and black shorts. She had a cape on her shoulders, and her blonde hair blew out behind her. She wore detached black sleeves and gloves, and black boots. A staff was in her hand. Then she was cut down.

Reeshaddoll Wendi – WIND/Psychic – Lvl 3 – (1500/1000).

"It's flip time! When Wendi is flipped up, her effect allows me to choose any Shaddoll monster in my deck and summon it, either face up or face down. I'll set Shaddoll Squamata!"

Emma just got a glimpse of the new monster as it appeared, before switching into face-down mode. A large curving creature, like a centipede or serpent.

"Alright then… I'll set a face-down and end my turn!" Emma said.

Nui giggled. "Now it's my turn again. I'll start by flipping up Shaddoll Squamata!" Her long thin creature appeared, purple chains attached to it's body, some legs and tail. "Want to know what he can do?"

Shaddoll Squamata – DARK/Spellcaster – Lvl 4 – (1800/1000).

"Not really but I'm sure you're about to tell me," Emma frowned.

"Yup! Squamata's flip effect now destroys your monster!" Nui smiled. A chain shot free from her monster, streaking forwards and striking at Wildheart. As he was destroyed the boomerang spun free.

"Well, Wildheart might be down, but he's not going out without a swing! When Wildheart is destroyed by a card effect while he's equipped with Cyclone Boomerang, I can destroy all spells and traps on the field, and you take a hundred damage for each one!" Emma smirked.

"Nice effect, here's mine!" Nui smirked back, "My face-down was this! Shaddoll Schism!" She said. (1*) "With this card, I can now use monsters on my field and in my graveyard to fusion summon! But my monsters are removed from play…" She said. "So I'll send both Squamata on my field and Wendi in my graveyard out of the duel… and fusion summon El Shaddoll Wendigo!"

The fusion happened just before the boomerang ripped through the trap. But what came through what looked like Wendi in a new appearance, dressed in a black gothic shirt and purple skirt. Her hair was done differently, poking out evenly like it was in spikes. Her staff had changed too. Behind Wendi was a purple scaled dolphin with a gold and green mask.

El Shaddoll Wendigo – WIND/Psychic – Lvl 6 – (200/2800).

The dolphin got in front as Wendy stood just behind it, both hueing out into defence mode.

Emma's boomerang travelled around, "I can play one of my face-downs too! Flute of Summoning Kuriboh! This lets me add a Kuriboh or Winged Kuriboh from my deck to my hand, OR I can summon it straight to the field! I'll bring out my faithful friend, Winged Kuriboh!"

Emma's field was reinforced with a new appearance too. Her faithful brown furred duel spirit, wings furled in front as it bravely faced Nui and her monsters.

Winged Kuriboh – LIGHT/Fairy – Lvl 1 – (300/200).

"Aww… he's cute!" Nui squealed. "Too bad he's gonna get crushed!"

"Maybe, but you first take three hundred damage due to Cyclone Boomerang. You might want to duck…" Emma warned, the equip finally hitting Nui.

"And first points goes to me," Emma smirked.

"Not for long. I'll set this face-down, your move," Nui said.

"Ok, I draw!" Emma said. Looking at her card, she then observed her hand. "So you like fusions huh? Well let me show you one of mine! I play Polymerisation!" She said, slapping the card into play. "So by taking both the WIND attribute Avian and the Elemental HERO Burstinatrix in my hand and fusing them together, I can make a new beast altogether!"

"Master of wind, make your appearance and blow away the fog! Fusion Summon! Gale Forces! Elemental HERO Great Tornado!" The warrior that emerged from the uniting was wearing green and black armour with yellow and orange details along it's wrists, belt and legs. A black cloak billowed around it as winds constantly swirled around it.

Elemental HERO Great Tornado – WIND/Warrior – Lvl 8 – (2800/2200).

"When Great Tornado makes his appearance onto the field, all monsters you control have their attack and defence cut in half!" Emma said.

El Shaddoll Wendigo – (100/1400).

"Now Great Tornado! Attack that dolphin! Tornado Uppercut!" Emma commanded, her monster charging across with a fist coated in swirling winds.

"Too bad. I activate Wendigo's effect! Once, during either player's turn, I can target one monster I control and render it invincible against your special summoned monsters," Nui giggled, as did the girl behind the dolphin.

"Grr…" Emma growled. "I end my turn."

"My turn then!" Nui said, drawing. "I'm gonna flip up my Naelshaddoll Ariel!" Nui said. The new card flipping up was a pale skinned, blue haired girl wearing a witch hat coloured purple and orange, she was surrounded by a glass cage, and inside, she wore a black dress with baggy sleeves.

Naelshaddoll Ariel – WATER/Psychic – Lvl 4 – (1000/1800).

"Her effect allows me to summon back a Shaddoll monster that was previously removed from play!" Nui smiled. "I can summon them face-up or face-down. Come back, Shaddoll Squamata!"

That's the one that can pop Great Tornado faster than you can say boom. Emma thought.

"Next is my trap card! Sinister Shadow Games! So by taking a Shaddoll card and putting it in my graveyard, I can rearrange the positions of my face-down Shaddoll monsters. I'm sending Falco from my deck to the graveyard, I can flip up Squamata. And you know what that means! Pop goes the HERO!"

Shaddoll Squamata – DARK/Spellcaster – Lvl 4 – (1800/1000).

Emma grit her teeth as Great Tornado was shattered like that.

"And there's now Falco's effect! Since he's sent to the grave by a card effect, he's instantly summoned face-down!" Nui continued. "Now, Naelshaddoll Ariel, attack Winged Kuriboh!" She ordered.

Her monster did as she was instructed, firing a black wave of water that washed away Emma's guard.

"Thanks for the help little buddy… see, now that Winged Kuriboh took one for the team, I take no damage this turn!" Emma said.

"Aw… spoiling my fun just as it was starting," Nui pouted. "Fine… I'll set these and end my turn." Two face-downs appeared at her feet.

"I'm up then," Emma looked at her new card, plus what she had left over. "I'll summon Phantom Magician in defence mode, then I pass things back to you." She said.

Phantom Magician looked exactly like that, a skeletal figure under a crimson red cloak and a sceptre in it's hand.

Phantom Magician – DARK/Spellcaster – Lvl 3 – (600/700).

"Ooh, a new friend!" Nui said. "Now let's see him burst! Ariel, attack Phantom Magician!" She ordered. Her monster did as told, another wave of water washing away Emma's monster.

"Thanks for that. I play Phantom Magician's effect. When it's destroyed by battle, I can summon one HERO monster with a thousand or less attack points!" Emma said. "I summon Elemental HERO Clayman!"

The new monster was a familiar one. Emma's guardian of earth took it's stance.

Elemental HERO Clayman – EARTH/Warrior – Lvl 4 – (800/2000).

"Nice monster. Squamata can't get over that. But I've got an idea! I now activate the spell known as El Shaddoll Fusion! Ariel and Squamata, now come together!" Nui called out.

"A fusion summon mid-battle phase?" Emma muttered. "I'm kinda jealous. None of my cards can do that."

"Yup! Now come forth, El Shaddoll Apkallone!" Nui called out.

Her new monster was quite similar to the other one. A loosely humanoid figure standing atop a large fish thing, Both wore purple and black clothes and scales, with gold details on finds and wings, as well as the rider's staff.

El Shaddoll Apkallone – DARK/Spellcaster – Lvl 6 – (2500/2000).

"And since the materials were sent to the graveyard by a card effect…" Nui gave a grin.

"Oh come on!" Emma groaned.

"First is Ariel's effect. I can remove from play up to three cards in the graveyard. Either player's graveyard," Nui said. "So I think I'll remove your Avian, Polymerisation and Burstinatrix."

Emma frowned as her three cards were banished. "And there's Squamata's effect. Which allows me to toss another Shaddoll in the graveyard. Shaddoll Beast will do, and he lets me draw a card when he's sent by an effect." Nui drew her extra card.

"Now, let's continue where we left off. Apkallone, destroy Clayman!" Nui said.

The giant fish swam forwards, slicing through Clayman with ease. Emma growled at her play being countered.

"That's it for my turn. Let's see what you've got!" Nui smiled.

Emma drew her card. Top decking… not good… she thought. "At least this can help me buy some time. I play my spell, E – Emergency Call!" She said. From the card came a large yellow letter E. "With it, I can add one HERO monster from my deck to my hand." Emma pulled her deck off the field of light in front of her.

I need a play… what can I do? She thought. Her field has two fusions. One has the power to negate destruction of one of her Shaddolls. The other has 2500 attack points…

"I add Elemental HERO Blazeman to my hand, and then I'll summon him!" The monster she placed was wearing red and blue armour, with a weird web of what looked like rockets or some kind of jetpack was on his back. His helmet lit with flames.

Elemental HERO Blazeman – FIRE/Warrior – Lvl 4 – (1200/1800).

"And I can activate his effect, allowing me to add a Polymerisation to my hand from the deck." She said, pulling up said card. "Then I place one card face-down and end my turn."

Nui started her turn. "My deck's giving me all sorts of good luck today! I activate the Fairy Meteor Crush equip spell and give it to my Apkallone. Now when a monster in defence mode on your field is attacked by the monster equipped with this, you'll take the difference between my monster's attack points and your monster's defence points."

NOT GOOD! Emma realised.

"Now, Apkallone, attack Blazeman!" Nui smiled. Emma yelled out with pain as the fins of the large dark scaled fish thing ripped through her monster and hit her.

N: 3700
E: 3300

"There's that pain…" Emma grunted. "But I'm ready for it this time. And I've got a trap! HERO Signal!" She said. "When a monster I control is destroyed and sent to the graveyard, I get to summon a level 4 or lower Elemental HERO from my deck! I chose Ocean!"

The monster that answered her summon was tall and thin, wearing baby blue armour over a light blue body suit. His hand held a twin pronged polearm, and he took a defensive stance.

Elemental HERO Ocean – WATER/Warrior – Lvl 4 – (1500/1200).

"It's just the beginning," Nui gave a demonic grin. "I'm gonna set this face-down and end my turn." (Nui Hand: 4)

"Then it's my turn," Emma said, drawing her card. Ok… priority one. Take out that Wendigo. If I don't… she'll be able to keep her monsters around a bit longer. Emma thought. She glanced at her hand. I have Polymerisation… but what to fuse? She thought.

Then the pieces of a plan started to come together, as she looked at her new card. "Maybe… I don't need to fuse..." She thought. "During the standby phase, my Ocean's effect activates, allowing me to return one HERO monster from my field or graveyard to my hand. I choose Clayman, who I'll summon!"

Clayman returned to play, fists ready.

Elemental HERO Clayman – EARTH/Warrior – Lvl 4 – (800/2000).

"Next, I activate the spell known as Natural Tune!" Emma said. "Now I can target one normal monster on my field who's level is four or lower, and treat it as a tuner monster while it's out and about." Emma said.

"A tuner monster? What've you got?" Nui asked, curious.

"You're about to find out! Clayman, give Ocean a tune up!" Emma called out.

"Fallen soldiers lend their spirits to the true warrior! Shake the land with every step, and strike fear in the eyes of your enemies! Synchro Summon! Tower over them, Colossal Fighter!" She called. From the beam of light, her ace monster emerged, reinforced gold armour, with large gemstones in it's shoulders, torso and wrists. It's eyes shone from behind a green visor.

Colossal Fighter – DARK/Warrior – Lvl 8 – (2800/1000).

"Now his effect kicks in. While he's on the field, he gains one hundred attack points for every warrior monster in our graveyards!" Emma said. A beam of multi-coloured lights shone from her graveyard towards Colossal Fighter. "I have five! Clayman, Great Tornado, Ocean, Wildheart and Blazeman!"

Colossal Fighter – (3300/1000).

"Colossal Fighter, attack El Shaddoll Apkallone!" Emma commanded. Her titan charged forwards, slamming a fist into Nui's monster.

"Well, guess I'll use Wendigo's effect to make Apkallone indestructible," Nui sighed.

"But you'll still take damage!" Emma pointed out. Nui grunted as the shockwave from Fighter's punch hit her. "And that's eight hundred points of it!"

N: 2900
E: 3300

Emma pumped her fist. "That felt good." She grinned. "I end my turn."

"Well it's about to feel terrible!" Nui smirked back, drawing her card. "I think it's time I get serious! I activate the spell known as Tribute Doll! Now by sacrificing one monster I have, I can special summon one level seven monster that can be advance summoned!" Nui said.

"I ditch Apkallone!" She said, which shocked Emma.

"Why'd you get rid of your strongest monster?" She asked.

"Because I'm going to take it up to eleven!" Nui replied. "Come forth, Perditious Puppeteer!" Nui said. Her monster that appeared was a ghostly appearance, with gold claws that were connecting strings to a puppet or doll.

Perditious Puppeteer – DARK/Fiend – Lvl 7 – (2700/500).

"Now Apkallone's effect goes off. Since it was sent to the graveyard, I can get back a Shaddoll Spell or Trap from my graveyard. I choose Shaddoll Schism." Nui said. "Next I flip up Shaddoll Falco!" She said.

Her call was followed by her small bird with purple and black feathers, chains holding it up.

Shaddoll Falco – DARK/Spellcaster – Lvl 2 – (600/1400).

"Now, guess what time it is?" Nui giggled as Shaddoll Falco leapt up, followed by the puppeteer.

"No way…" Emma gasped. She knew what was next.

"Awaken, O scourge of the Mist. Let your roar echo across the valley. Spare none your wrath! Come forth, Mist Wurm!" She called out.

Emma shivered as Mist Wurm arrived, lightning and fog already clashing together, all being exhaled from the demonic beast's body.

Mist Wurm – WIND/Thunder – Lvl 9 – (2700/1500).

"Remember what happens when he's summoned?" Nui asked. "Bye bye Colossal Fighter!" Nui giggled.

Emma was already preparing to take the incoming storm. "Mist Wurm, attack her directly!" Nui ordered. Her beast started charging up something in his mouth, and spat free a torrent of lightning charged mists.

Emma screamed in terror and agony as hundreds of volts lanced through her. It hurts… so much…! She thought.

Marcus glanced at the sky. "Emma…" he thought. Looking back, he saw Leo holding on with Power Tool Dragon, currently equipped with Power Converter. He had just destroyed Devak's Zeman the Ape King dark synchro monster through a great combo of plays.

"Not good. Devak's got everything he needs to summon his God." Sarah gasped. "Two monsters and a field spell."

Marcus looked back at the duel before him. "Get ready Leo! It's coming!" He called. Emma… please… come back safe…

Emma groaned, on the floor, her body smoking slightly and covered in bruises and electrical burns. "I'm still in the duel…" She grunted, struggling to her feet and leaning heavily on the table of light before her.

"Wow. You are!" Nui giggled. "I'll set this and end my turn."

"I draw!" Emma grunted, her arm feeling heavy as she drew. "I set a monster and end my turn." She said.

"My turn. Mist Wurm, do it!" She said, Mist Wurm blasting Emma's card. It flipped up to be Phantom Magician.

Phantom Magician – DARK/Spellcaster – Lvl 3 – (600/700).

"He should look familiar. Now since he's been destroyed, I can summon a HERO monster with a thousand or less attack points. Go Bubbleman!"

Emma's summon was answered by a short man wearing baby blue armour and a dark blue bodysuit underneath. He also had a small water gun attached to his arm.

Elemental HERO Bubbleman – WATER/Warrior – Lvl 4 – (800/1200).

"Time for a miracle…" Emma muttered.

"I would say so. But you've got just Polymerisation in your hand. What's left?" Nui said.

Please… everyone… if there was ever a time for you to help… it's now. Please… give me strength to win!

First to hear her plea was Marcus, "You've got my help. Do whatever you need." He said, immediately.

"Kick her butt kid," Sarah added.

"We're with you!" Yusei nodded.

On the other side of the Spirit World, Luna stood with the Dark Sage and Regulus in a dark castle. Luna gasped, feeling Emma's call. "I'm with you Emma. Beat her!"

"The hero girl is looking for help. Well… fight with our strength as well as your own!" Jack said as he rode. Behind him, Kione nodded, sending her thoughts of strength.

"You can win Emma… and we'll be right there with you," Daiki said.

"We certainly will. Win the first match against the darkness," Akiza added.

Then, much to everyone's shock, their marks all disappeared.

Emma took a deep breath, on her back drew a mark, in bright red. Emma gasped, feeling it. "The Mark of the Crimson Dragon!" Then, on her hand, her red mark was overlapped and melded into a pentagram, one point coloured in each individual mark.

Emma then noticed her deck was glowing. "I see… it's time to win!" Emma called out. "Get ready, this might be a long turn! I pay half my lifepoints to swap Sabatiel – the Philosopher's Stone in my hand with a card in my deck or graveyard." Emma said, making her wish.

N: 2900
E: 300

"Now the replaced card! Miracle Fusion! Now if I take the Bubbleman on my field and Clayman who is in my graveyard and remove them from play, I can fusion summon!

"Master of water, make your appearance and wash away the flames! Fusion Summon! Divine Freeze! Elemental HERO Absolute Zero!" Emma chanted.

What appeared was a man wearing snow white armour with a black undersuit, and a stylish white cape which flowed behind him.

Elemental HERO Absolute Zero – WATER/Warrior – Lvl 8 – (2500/2000).

Emma watched the Philosopher's Stone come back to her hand. "Neat… my second wish… Skyscraper!" She called out. In the middle of the forest, a city formed around them, and both stood in a courtyard, below the massive high-rises around them.

N: 2900

"And now my third wish… the card that connects worlds! Parallel World Fusion! Now I can take monsters that have been removed from play and return them to the deck. After that, I get to fusion summon one more time!" Emma said. "Now for Avian, Burstinatrix, Bubbleman and Clayman to come together!"

N: 2900

"Air, Water, Earth, Fire. These four elements are the core of our world! Now watch as they come together to defeat all who challenge peace and justice!" Emma called out. "Fusion Summon! Balance! Elemental HERO Electrum!"

Dressed in the traditional superhero costume, a muscle showing skintight suit glowing gold with a white detail around the waist and shoulders, Emma's new monster emerged.

Elemental HERO Electrum – LIGHT/Warrior – Lvl 10 – (2900/2600).

"Like him?" Emma asked. "Well too bad! First is his effect when he's summoned, all cards removed from play are returned to the deck and shuffled!" She said.

Emma took a deep breath as she saw the Philosopher's Stone reappear again. "And now… Sabatiel – The Philosopher's Stone! After I've used it three times, the effect becomes this! One monster I control gains attack points equal to the monster with the highest attack points!" (2*)

Elemental HERO Electrum – (5800/2000).

"HERO Electrum! End the duel with Balancing Forces!" Emma commanded. Her monster leapt across the field, fists glowing with power. He slammed a fist into Mist Wurm, and the blast from the destruction send Nui into a sprawling mess of limbs.

Emma sighed with relief. Then her heart made her run to where Nui had lied still. "Nui!" She gasped, seeing black smoke start to ooze out of the girl.

"Emma?" Nui asked. "It's over… thank you… these powers… they are not to be used by kids my age. Well… any age." She started to turn grey. "Win this thing… for all of us…" Was the last thing she said, before fading away into dust.

"Nui…" Emma said. "I will… promise…" She sighed. "Time to go back… hope Luna's doing ok…"

Back with Marcus, he gasped. "I think… Emma won her duel!" He smiled.

"Well. Let's see if 'monkey see, monkey do' works with this guy," Sarah grinned. Although, that faded. "Though Leo has to find a way to beat that thing." She was pointing to the giant monkey standing behind Devak. Black skin, with yellow markings.

Earthbound God Cusillu – DARK/Beast – Lvl 10 – (2800/2400).

The duel looked something like this; Devak had 2500 lifepoints, as well as his Earthbound God, backed by the field spell Closed Forest, giving his monsters extra power for each beast in his graveyard multiplied by 100.

Earthbound God Cusillu – (3600/2400).

He also had a face-down card, and a face up trap, Roaring Earth, which dealt piercing damage and dropped enemy monsters points by 300.

Leo's field was occupied by his trusty Power Tool Dragon, currently equipped with Power Converter. His lifepoints were at 2000.

Power Tool Dragon – EARTH/Machine – Lvl 7 – (2300/2500).

Power Tool Dragon – (2000/2200).

"Earthbound God Cusillu! Attack him directly!" Devack called out.

"He doesn't have a monster that can stop that thing!" Yusei gasped.

"LEO!" Marcus, Sarah and Trudge yelled.

"Who needs a monster when I've got a power converter! By sending it to the graveyard while equipped to my dragon, I gain lifepoints equal to his attack points!" Leo said.

"Just in time…" Sarah breathed, as the fist of Cusillu fell. Leo started to run, barely escaping being crushed, but still covered in dirt.

At that moment, an orb of white light appeared. And from it emerged…

"Luna!" Marcus sighed with relief. Then as a surprising bonus… "Emma!" He smiled. Emma was lowered onto her butt, and Luna tended to Leo. Devak didn't seem to care for the touching moment the twins shared, laughing.

"I'm glad you could finally join us Luna. My Earthbound God has been waiting. Let's duel Signer!" He challenged.

"Oh we'll duel Devak…" Luna said, and Marcus was surprised at the confidence in her voice. "And when I'm through with you, you'll regret ever messing with any of my spirit friends."

"Will I?" Devak seemed so scared. Not.

Marcus watched with worried eyes as Luna grabbed Leo's duel disk and stood between Devak and her brother, and his own sister.

Marks glowed. The true duel between Signer and Dark Signer had begun for real.

Luna took a moment to recap the field, before Devak snickered. "I'm glad you're caught up, because it's time I reintroduce you to an old friend. But first I activate the Cursed Prison trap. This card allows me to summon a Synchro Monster from my extra deck, ignoring any conditions. Look familiar? She should. After all, it's your precious Ancient Fairy Dragon!"

What appeared, trapped in a cage and in chains, was a dragon with blue scales and light yellow wings and green hair on it's head. It was all beaten and broken, the shine gone from it's being.

Ancient Fairy Dragon – LIGHT/Dragon – Lvl 7 – (2100/3000).

"No!" Marcus gasped. "By the might of dragons… let her go!" He demanded.

"He's right! She's not some stray dog you can just lock up in a cage!" Luna nodded.

"That's exactly what she is. A wild animal. And if she refuses to behave, I'll tear her card in half!" Devak warned.

Marcus' eyes widened, That's taboo! One of the first rules of etiquette when it comes to duel monsters. Never tear apart any cards! He gasped, even as Luna growled at the threat.

"We'll see about that! My turn!" Luna called out. "First is Power Tool Dragon's ability. With it, I add one random equip spell to my hand. And this one's going straight into action! Central Shield!"

The equip spell was applied, a red collar appearing around Power Tool Dragon, with a number of red orbs hovering around him.

"I forgot I had that!" Leo gasped. "And now, even though she can't stop that monkey, at least she can stop all damage that doesn't target the equipped monster."

"I'll also set this monster in defence mode," Luna said. Lastly, I'll throw down two face-downs and end my turn."

"A shield and a couple of face-downs? If that's all you can do, then the Crimson Dragon made a grave mistake choosing you as a Signer," Devak sneered. "And now…" He drew for his turn. "Earthbound God Cusillu, pound this pathetic Signer into the netherworld!"

Cusillu's fist charged at Power Tool Dragon. "This Signer's not going anywhere!" Luna snarked back. "I play the face-down spell, Limiter Removal! It'll double my Dragon's attack points until the end phase."

Power Tool Dragon – (4000/2500).

"How dare you!" Devak snapped.

The impact kicked up the terrain, giving out a shockwave in all directions. Emma grunted as she held on for dear life behind the twins.

"Unwise. You don't want me angry. And that's bad news for your pet," Devak said, "I activate Cusillu's ability, by releasing a monster on my field, I half your lifepoints."

Luna and Leo both yelled, and Emma winced as she caught a flicker of the forces that hurt them. "Are you both ok?" She asked.

"I'm fine…" Luna said, staying steady on her two feet. "It's time I got back Ancient Fairy Dragon."

"But she's in my graveyard!" Devak was confused.

"And that's exactly what I was hoping for. As long as she was on your field, it would have been impossible to get her back. But you sacrificed her, which means she's a free agent." Luna smirked. Emma found herself a fan of this trickster gameplay that Luna preferred.

"And now, by playing Respect Synchron, she can join my team," Luna said, playing the card. "And with a heavy hitter like Ancient Fairy Dragon on my field, your days are numbered!"

"You know… Leo built this deck brilliantly. Cards to prolong Power Tool's lifespan, cards that use opposing Synchro Monsters? And Luna… she says she doesn't duel because she gets all hazy and ends up in the spirit world, but I've never seen her more fired up!" Marcus grinned.

Ancient Fairy Dragon was free, and this time, was right beside Luna, Leo and Power Tool Dragon. Her shine was back, and she was mad.

Ancient Fairy Dragon – LIGHT/Dragon – Lvl 7 – (2100/3000).

"Sorry Yus. I think Ancient Fairy Dragon and Stardust might be tied for prettiest Signer dragon," Marcus smiled.

"Normally Limiter Removal would take out Power Tool Dragon, but by getting rid of Central Shield, he sticks around. Looks like that's two dragons to your none." Luna smirked.

Power Tool Dragon – (2000/2500).

Leo stepped up next to Luna, the twins confidently staring down Devak and his thousand feet tall monkey. "Ready Leo?" She asked.

"Yup, draw that card sis!" Leo nodded.

"Please… be the card to win…" Luna begged. Her mark then shone brightly.

Once again, the marks on everyone told them that Luna needed their unity. "Go get 'em Luna!" Marcus and Sarah both called.

"You've got this!" Yusei and Emma both added.

Luna gasped, hearing and feeling the thoughts and friendship of her fellow Signers. Behind her, Emma spotted the mark of the Crimson Dragon draw itself fully on her back, and Leo spotted all five stars coming together into a pentagram of colour. Then, Leo's deck started glowing, and compelled Luna to draw.

She did so, and both held out the card. "We activate the effect of Power Tool Dragon, allowing me to add another equip spell to my hand." Luna said. "Next… we summon Majestic Dragon!" The new monster was definitely not a Morphtronic, nor was it a machine. Instead, it was a small pink dragon with wings.

Majestic Dragon – LIGHT/Dragon – Lvl 1 – (0/0).

"Uhh… that's cute?" Emma asked, unsure.

"And something tells me Luna's not done," Yusei said.

"I'm not done. Now I flip up Morphtronic Celfon, then Ancient Fairy Dragon and Celfon receive a tune up from Majestic Dragon!" Luna called out.

"The holy light of protection, now merge with the hopes of the spirits and become eternal life! Hear the voices and appear in the light! Synchro Summon! A regal rebirth! Majestic Fairy Dragon!" She chanted, as she was enveloped in the bright light of the synchro summon.

"Uh oh…" Devak mumbled.

"She did it… she harnessed the power of the Crimson Dragon…" Sarah gasped.

The monster that emerged was a more streamlined version of Ancient Fairy Dragon, and the yellow wings had turned into blue, bioluminescent butterfly wings. Gold armour was worn around the upper torso, and her hair on her head was a shimmering green, the same colour as the twin's hair.

Majestic Fairy Dragon – LIGHT/Dragon – Lvl 9 – (3600/4000). (3*)

"Wow…" Marcus gaped.

"Majestic Fairy Dragon's effect activates! When she's summoned, I can destroy as many face-up spells and traps on the field, and gain one thousand lifepoints!" Luna said. "Go, Radiant Cleanse!" Both Devak's field spell, as well as his face-up trap, were blown away.

And since Closed Forest was gone, Cusillu's attack points fell, and the yellow lights dimmed. And due to his trap going, Power Tool Dragon gave a mechanical roar as he got his power back.

Power Tool Dragon – (2300/2500).

"Nice! With that forest spell gone, that monkey's defenceless!" Yusei grinned.

Earthbound God Cusillu – (2800/2400).

"Then I get to add one spell card from my deck to my hand!" Luna continued. She then took her new card, as well as one already there. "And now it's time to upgrade both my dragons with some equip spells!"

On Power Tool Dragon appeared a large rocket booster attached to his back. Around Majestic Fairy Dragon's neck appeared a silky scarf. "Rocket Pilder and Pain to Power!"

"Now, Power Tool Dragon, attack his giant monkey!" Luna commanded. Power Tool Dragon obliged, charging forwards with the giant rocket booster. Cusillu made to block, but the robotic dragon powered through, impacting.

"Luna!" Leo yelled, shielding his sister from harm.

"Now why would you send your Power Tool Dragon on a suicide run? All you've done is hurt yourself!" Devak said.

"Yeah… except the monster that attacks with Rocket Pilder can't be destroyed by battle," Emma smirked from her seated position behind the twins.

"And that's not the card's only bonus. Your monster loses attack points equal to Power Tool's. And that is 2300," Luna added.

Earthbound God Cusillu – (500/2400).

"YOU CAN'T!" Devak yelled in shock.

"I'm afraid we can! And now thanks to Pain to Power, all that damage we just took gets translated into power for Majestic Fairy Dragon!" Luna added.

Majestic Ancient Dragon – (4100/4000).

"I think she's still mad about being locked away for all these years! And now it's time for some payback! Majestic Fairy Dragon, attack Cusillu! Majestic Sunshine!"

Her dragon got to work, flying up, before releasing a shine so bright it made everyone but Luna look away.

Winner: Leo/Luna Collins!

"Well done!" Sarah whooped.

"Thank god…" Marcus sighed with relief. "Trudge, do me a favour, go get Emma's chair from the car?"

"I can do that," Trudge nodded.

"Let's get down there," Yusei said.

"Ten-four!" Marcus didn't need to be told twice.

"You… you think you've won?" They rushed towards the trio, as Devak stalked towards them, hood blown back, and smoking. "This isn't over! I won't fall alone!"

"Well alone is all you're getting!" Suddenly, Sarah's boot connected with his chin. As he hit the ground, he faded into dust. "Yeah. You lost. Sore loser." She grunted.

"You both did spectacularly. Leo. Well done. You held the line against someone who by all odds, should have beaten you turn 3. But you held your own," Marcus said. "Luna. I dunno what you did at the end then, but whatever it was… was awesome."

"I shall take that as a compliment," A female voice caught the group's attention. "Marcus Cersy. Servant to Felgrand."

"Huh?" Marcus looked up to see Ancient Fairy Dragon, as well as a quadruped lion with a blonde mane, wearing white and blue armour with green gems on each leg. Beside them was a monster Emma recognised.

"Ancient Fairy Dragon!" Luna smiled. "Regulus!"

"HERO Electrum!" Emma added, nodding at the hero.

"Hold up… you know who I am?" Marcus asked.

"Of course. Felgrand rules all dragons. Even those trapped in a prison," Ancient Fairy Dragon seemed to smile. "Luna. You must know that by defeating that Dark Signer, the spirits captured by Cusillu have been returned to their true selves."

"The minus curse has been broken as well. Time is flowing forwards as it should," Regulus added.

"We offer you our thanks," Ancient Fairy Dragon said. "You saved our world Luna."

"I couldn't have done it without my friends and Leo. Leo duelled Devak, Yusei, Marcus and Sarah all stuck by him, and Emma stopped that Nui girl," Luna said.

Electrum laughed. "She certainly did! And in such a fashion that made me remember an incident years ago. Where Jaden Yuki used the Philosopher's Stone to summon me, and save the world!"

"You mean Jaden used that card? And then summoned you!?" Emma asked. "Wow! I can't wait to tell the guys!"

"That'll have to wait. Ancient Fairy Dragon, our battle with the Dark Signers is far from over. Will you help us?" Yusei asked.

"Of course. The Dark Signers are like a disease. If they are not vanquished completely, their power will grow back, and the Spirit world will be in danger once again." Ancient Fairy Dragon nodded. "I will join you. Plus… it would be nice for some more payback."

"Ok… remind me to never tick you off," Sarah shivered.

"I will fight too. Until the bitter end!" Regulus growled with agreement. Both turned into light, that fell into Luna's outstretched hands. One was the monster card Regulus. The other was Ancient Fairy Dragon.

"You did it! You got her back!" Leo grinned.

"Now let's go shut down that tower," Marcus said. Yusei took the twins inside, and returned a second later, the ground shaking, before the tower descended into the ground.

"I'm back, one wheelchair," Trudge called, approaching them with the chair pushed in front. "Where'd the tower go? There was a tower here, right?"

"What tower? I don't remember seeing one," Luna said with a straight face.

"Tower or no tower. It's time to get going. There are three left, and the next one is mine," Yusei said, looking out to the direction of his and Marcus' destination. Lightning flashed, and the giant was seen for a second.

Hikari… I'm coming…

A/N: So before we get to the omake, let's go over some things.

1*: First off. Shaddoll Schism is the original name for the trap Shaddoll Ruq. I just found the original name to be cooler.

2*: Sabatiel - The Philosopher's Stone; in the anime, it says you can add any card, while the actual card says you need three copies. I kinda went for a middleground, using the effect that adds the card back after resolving the added card, then the actual card effect that uses the highest monster's attack as the boost.

3*: Majestic Fairy Dragon; NOT my card. Please go and have a look at the original card created by AlanMac95 on DeviantArt, he does both custom cards as well as anime-ize cards in the TCG. I'll note down the full effect here either way.

Majestic Fairy Dragon:
Attribute: Light
Type: Dragon
Leve: 9

Effect: 'Majestic Dragon' + 'Ancient Fairy Dragon' + 1 non-tuner monster.
When this card is Synchro Summoned: You can destroy as many face-up spell/trap cards on the field as possible, and if you do, gain 1000 LP, then you can add 1 Spell from your deck to your hand. Once per turn: You can special summon 1 monster from your hand. You cannot conduct your Battle Phase the turn you activate this effect. During the End Phase: Target 1 'Ancient Fairy Dragon' in your GY; return this card from the field to the Extra Deck; then special summon that target.

ATK/3640 DEF/4000 (I rounded down the attack to 3600 to avoid weird numbers.)

Luna: I finally got my own Majestic Dragon!

Marcus: You certainly did kid. Again, rights go to AlanMac95 on DeviantArt!

Sarah: Personally, I like it, not too busted, but strong to be called an ace in the hole.

Yusei: Hopefully, we'll all get a chance to show one. What's next?

All: Next Time! A Whale of A Tale!
