Tracker looked at Drew and asked, "Would you like to see your dad's childhood bedroom?"
Sean said, "Is it still my room, or did they turn it into something else?"
Tracker scoffed, "Are you kidding? It's a shrine to Sean Hope Cameron."
Drew scrunched his face and asked, "Hope?"
Sean rolled his eyes at Tracker, "Thanks, man."
Tracker laughed and said to the boys, "Come with me."
Tracker took Drew and Oliver into Sean's bedroom, and the boys looked around in awe. The walls were covered with band posters and cars from the mid-00s. Drew said, "Wow, this is like a time capsule back to the 2000s."
Tracker nodded, "Yep."
Oliver walked over to the wall and looked at Sean's posters. "Broken Social Scene! My oldest brother loves them."
Sean peeked in and asked, "So what do you think?"
Drew turned and said, "I feel like we stepped into the past."
Sean laughed, "Very funny." He looked around and said, "If you see anything you want, feel free to take it."
Drew walked over to Sean's bed and looked at a couple of model cars he had on the nightstand. "Can I take these?"
"Yep."
"Cool."
Drew and Oliver sat on Sean's bed, and Tracker said, "How about we leave the kids alone to browse in your room?"
Sean chuckled and said, "We'll let you know when dinner is ready, okay?"
Drew nodded.
Sean and Tracker walked out of the bedroom, and Sean walked over to the dining room table. He watched with a smile as Emma set the table. She noticed him looking at him, and she asked, "What's that look for?"
Sean shrugged, "I just like looking at you."
Emma raised an eyebrow and said, "Uh-huh."
Sean held out his hand as soon as Emma finished the table, "Come with me."
Emma grabbed his hand, and Sean walked her out of the trailer, "Where are we going?"
"Just out here for a second."
"Oh, okay." They walked out of the trailer and onto the front porch. Emma asked, "Did you need something?"
Sean smiled and kissed her. When he pulled away, he leaned his forehead against Emma's and said, "I just needed to do that."
Emma smiled, "Thank you."
He held onto her waist and asked, "So everything is going okay?"
Emma nodded, "Yes. I had a nice conversation with your mom about you and Drew."
"Good."
She exhaled and said, "I'm so relieved."
"I told you it would be fine."
"I know, but I couldn't help my nerves." She asked, "So what did the boys think of your room?"
"Drew is currently picking out things to bring home."
"Oh yeah?"
Sean nodded, "Yep."
She wrapped her arms around him and said, "That's nice."
"It's as if you're stepping into a time capsule when you go into my room. Like it's 2005 again."
Emma ran her fingers through his hair and said, "I wish we had kept in touch while you were here after the shooting, but I understand why we didn't."
Sean nodded, "We were both going through some things."
Emma said, "I almost contacted you a few times but wasn't sure if you'd want to hear from me."
"Em, I came back to Toronto for you." She smiled, and he continued, "Sometimes, I wonder how different things could have been if the car racing and hit and run never happened."
"Or that jackass Peter planting the pot in your locker."
Sean joked, "You mean your boyfriend, Peter?"
Emma shook her head, "God, that was so long ago."
"If that never happened, I would have stayed in school, I would have graduated, and I wouldn't have gone into the Army. You wouldn't have gotten pregnant because we were usually pretty cautious."
"Wow, that's crazy to think about." She looked at him and said, "As much as I wish you stayed in school and graduated with us if you had, we probably wouldn't have had Drew, and I cannot imagine my life without him."
Sean smiled and said, "Neither can I."
"But you went through a lot overseas."
"And I made it back."
Emma hugged him tightly and said, "I love you so much."
"I love you too."
When they pulled away from the hug, they kissed each other until they were interrupted by Sean's mom, who yelled out, "Can you two stop making out long enough to eat some dinner?"
Sean and Emma pulled away, laughing, and straightened each other up before they walked back inside the trailer.
Emma said, "I'll go get the boys."
Sean said, "Okay," and he walked over to the kitchen.
Emma walked to Sean's room, opened the door, and Oliver and Drew were kissing on Sean's bed. She said, "Oh my God, I'm so sorry!" The boys broke apart, and Emma closed the door. She made a face and whispered, "Shit shit shit."
Drew looked at Oliver, and they both started laughing.
Emma rushed into the kitchen, and Sean could tell something was up, "Are you okay?"
She whispered, "I caught them kissing. I feel so bad."
Sean's eyes widened, "They were?" He laughed, "We never even kissed in there."
"Oh my God, I feel so embarrassed. Why didn't I knock?"
"Well, now you know for next time."
Emma slapped his arm and laughed.
The group ate dinner and had a pleasant time. The Camerons asked Drew questions about his life so far, and they enjoyed getting to know their first grandson.
Sean's mom took a sip of her drink, then asked Sean and Emma, "So when are you two getting married?"
Sean grabbed Emma's hand and said, "Well, I need to propose first."
"And what are you waiting for?"
Sean rolled his eyes and said, "Mom, I want everything to be perfect for Em."
Emma squeezed Sean's hand and Drew smiled at his dad. Emma said, "I don't need a crazy, over the top proposal."
Sean nodded, "I know, but I still want it to be special for you."
"If you're proposing to me, it'll be special."
Sean's mom shook her head, "You two should be married ten years by now."
He narrowed his eyes at his mom and said, "Mom."
"Well, I'm sorry, but it's true. So don't wait too long, Seany." She looked at Emma and said, "You both have wasted enough time."
They both answered, "We know."
"And I want more grandkids."
Sean laughed, "Four isn't enough?"
"No, I want as many as possible."
Sean winked at Emma, who took a sip of her drink.
Tracker said, "So Drew, were you shocked when you first saw your dad?"
"Yeah. But at least now I know what I'll look like at his age."
Everyone chuckled, and Sean said, "But you'll be taller, thank goodness."
Emma laughed and said, "It's not like you're Toby's height."
"I know, but compared to most of you, I feel like I am."
Emma squeezed his hand.
Tracker said, "So Seany, what was it like when you first saw Emma again? Love at first sight?"
Sean smiled, "That would imply I wasn't already in love with her."
"Good point."
He took a sip of his drink then said, "I was shocked and excited, but it was awkward."
Emma nodded, "It was. We both were in shock. It had been so long since we'd seen each other."
Sean said, "We hadn't seen each other since the weekend we conceived this one over here." Drew made a face, and Sean said, "Sorry, kiddo. Anyway, I got so nervous I made an excuse and said I needed to go back to work."
Emma looked at him and said, "Wait, really?" Sean nodded. "I had no idea. I just figured you were busy and important."
Sean laughed, "Well, usually I am but not that afternoon."
Sean's mom asked, "Emma, when did you get into real estate?"
"After Drew started school. My parents helped me out until then, but I needed something to do once he was in school full time. And it turns out. I'm pretty good at it."
"Pretty good?" Sean shook his head and looked at everyone, "Em won a big sales award at her company."
Mrs. Cameron said, "Good for you, honey."
Emma blushed, "Thanks."
Sean asked, "Why are you embarrassed? You kick ass at that job."
Emma nodded, "I do, don't I."
"I think you should open your realty group someday. Have your own company."
Emma turned to him and asked, "Really?"
Sean nodded, "I have my own business." He laughed and asked, "Who the hell thought that would ever happen?"
Emma smiled, "I did."
Tracker added, "Yeah, kid. I knew you would too."
"You did?"
Tracker nodded, "Especially when you got back from overseas. You were pretty determined."
"Well, I was just happy I made it back in one piece." He joked and said, "It was a bit dicey for a while."
Emma let go of Sean's hand, took a sip of her drink, then said, "Can you excuse me a sec?"
"Are you okay?"
"Yep." Emma stood up, "Be right back." Emma walked toward the bathroom, and Sean watched her.
He said, "Shit," under his breath. "Excuse me." Sean got up and walked toward the bathroom, and knocked on the door, "Em?"
Emma wiped her face and opened the door.
He said, "I'm sorry."
She shook her head, "Don't be."
Sean closed the door, "Are you sure?"
She nodded, "I just get upset when I think about you coming home from Afghanistan and not knowing about Drew."
Sean hugged her, "It's fine now. We're here, and we're a family."
"I know. I just..." She sighed, "Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and fix everything."
Sean pulled away from the hug and said, "Believe me, there are so many things I wish I could fix between that happened even before we conceived Drew."
Emma smiled, "Me too."
Sean kissed her and smiled, "Come back to the table, okay?"
"Give me two seconds."
"Okay." Sean walked out of the bathroom and back to the table.
Tracker joked, "That was way too fast for a quickie."
Sean said, "Dude."
Drew just shook his head.
After dinner, the group stayed at the table for dessert. Sean looked at Drew and Oliver and said, "Take your stuff into my room. Hang out there. You've been with us long enough."
Drew and Oliver quickly left the table and went to Sean's room. Emma giggled, "They couldn't wait to get out of here."
Tracker joked, "I don't blame them. I wouldn't want to be around a bunch of adults either. Even now, when I am an adult."
Emma and Sean laughed because they knew why Drew and Oliver were in such a hurry to get back to Sean's room. Sean said under his breath, "Maybe they'll lock the door this time."
Mr. and Mrs. Cameron stood up and said, "It's time for 60 Minutes."
Sean shook his head, "Still?"
Mrs. Cameron said, "It's one of the things we like to do together! You'll be the same way!"
Emma said, "We already watch HGTV together all the time."
Tracker scoffed, "Oh my God, my wife cannot get enough of it. How much of that Home Town show can people watch?"
Emma said, "Aw, I like that show. I like their accents."
Sean said, "They do make the houses look nice."
Tracker agreed, "True but six hours of that show? It's too much."
Sean held onto Emma's hand and said, "Well, this one is into those crazy housewife shows."
Tracker shook his head, "Nope. I draw the line there. When that comes on, I'm out."
Emma laughed and said, "Sean admitted to watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians."
"I said it was a dark day when that happened!"
They all laughed and drank their coffee. Meanwhile, Oliver and Drew were in Sean's old bedroom sitting on Sean's old bed. They were afraid to kiss again, so they talked instead.
"Did your parents do it in here?"
Drew shook his head, "No, they were together when he was down in Toronto. I'm not even sure mom's ever been in here."
"Oh."
"Poor Maddie heard them last night."
Oliver made a face, "Oh God, am I going to hear them?"
Drew smiled and chuckled, "Probably."
Oliver laughed, shook his head, and said, "I'll wear my headphones to bed."
"Well, we'd better hit the road. Monday is usually my early day at the shop, and these two have school."
Tracker nodded and hugged his little brother, "It was good to see you, kid."
"You too."
Tracker hugged Emma, "Invite me to the wedding."
Emma laughed, "Of course you'll be invited."
"Good."
Mr. and Mrs. Cameron were still watching 60 Minutes when Sean walked over to their matching recliners, "Um, mom, dad, we're going."
Mrs. Cameron got up and grabbed Sean.
He chuckled and said, "Whoa, mom."
"I love you, kid."
"I know you do."
When they pulled away from the hug, she looked at Drew and said, "Can I have a hug goodbye?" Drew nodded and walked over to her. She hugged him and smiled, "I'm so happy to have a grandson."
Drew smiled and said, "I'm happy to have another grandma."
Mrs. Cameron kissed him on the cheek then pinched it, "Seany, I still can't believe how much he looks like you."
Emma walked over to Mrs. Cameron, "I had a lovely time tonight, Mrs. Cameron."
Mrs. Cameron hugged Emma and whispered, "Say yes right away."
Emma giggled and pulled away. "I will."
After everyone said their goodbyes, Sean, Emma, and the boys headed toward Sean's truck. Sean said, "So, that wasn't too painful, was it?"
Emma smiled and shook her head.
When they got home, Sean and Emma went straight up to their room. "Ugh." Emma flopped face-first onto their bed, and Sean laughed.
He asked, "Are you okay?"
"I was so wound up on the trip up to Wasaga that I exhausted myself."
"My poor baby."
Emma nodded into her pillow.
Sean asked, "Want me to draw a bath for you?"
Emma turned her head and asked, "You'd do that for me?"
Sean smiled, "I'll be right back."
"Mmm, you're the best."
He walked toward the bathroom and said, "I know." Sean drew the bath for Emma, who walked into the bathroom naked.
"Join me?"
He smiled, "Well, if you insist."
"I insist." She climbed into the tub. "We don't have to do anything. I just want to be with you."
Sean stripped and sat down across from Emma in the bathtub. He sighed, closed his eyes, and sat back, "Yeah, that's nice."
Emma smiled and said, "Thank you for today."
Sean opened his eyes and asked, "What did I do?"
"You held my hand when you knew I was feeling nervous."
"Well, I love you, and I knew you were worried." He smiled and said, "I told you not to worry."
"I couldn't help it."
"Everything was okay, right?"
"Yep. I was worried that your mom was going to hate me."
"Well, she doesn't."
"It feels like a giant weight has been lifted off my shoulders."
"I'm glad."
Emma asked, "So, how many more kids do you want?"
Sean shrugged, "Well, I definitely want at least one more, even if the gap between them and Drew will be nearly 16 years by the time it happens."
"I wouldn't mind having two more with you."
"Oh yeah?"
Emma nodded. "Maybe we could have one naturally and adopt another."
Sean smiled, "I like that idea."
After their bath, Emma put on her pajamas and went down to check on Oliver, who was putting his clothes in the dresser in the guest room.
"Hey, Miss Nelson."
"Oliver, you can call me Emma."
Oliver shook his head, "I don't know if I can do that."
"Well, I'm letting you know that you can."
She asked, "Where's Drew?"
"He said he'd be right back."
"Ah." She looked around and said, "We need to get some stuff for you."
Oliver asked, "What do you mean?"
"You might be staying here a while, and we should make this room look like it's yours."
Oliver shook his head again and said, "You don't have to do that."
"I know I don't have to. I want to." She smiled at him, and he smiled back.
"I really appreciate what you and Mr. Cameron are doing for me."
"It's our pleasure."
Sean walked down the stairs and into the guestroom, "Everything okay in here?"
"Yep." Emma turned to him and said, "I told Oliver we'd need to get some stuff to make it look more like a teenage boy's room and less like a guest room."
"Maybe we can go to IKEA next weekend."
Emma nodded, "And I can go to Homegoods and pick up some things." She looked at Oliver, "What's your favorite color?"
"I like blue and green."
"Great! That works. I'll pick up some new bedding for you this week." She looked at the bed and asked, "Is this quilt okay for now?"
Oliver said, "Yes, it's great."
Drew walked into the room and asked, "Are we having a party?"
Sean laughed then asked, "So did you have a good day?"
Drew nodded, "I did. Uncle Tracker is pretty cool."
Sean smiled, "Yeah, he is."
Emma said, "Ooh, Oliver, before I forget. Do you have a laptop or a desktop computer at home?"
"Laptop."
"Hmm, I wonder if there's a way for us to get it for you."
Sean said, "Maybe Archie can help with that."
Emma nodded, "I'll call him right now."
She left the room, and Oliver looked at Sean, "I feel bad."
Sean scoffed and asked, "Why?"
"You guys have to disrupt your lives for me."
"Nonsense. You're our son's boyfriend," Drew smiled at Sean, and he continued, "And we want to help you. You're not disrupting anything."
"Thank you."
"Anyway, I'll leave you two alone." Sean was about to walk out, but he turned and said, "I want you both in bed by 10, okay?"
Drew said, "Yes, dad."
"And not together."
"Dad!"
"Oh, I was just kidding." Sean smiled and walked out.
Drew sat on the edge of the bed and looked at Oliver, "Are you okay?"
Oliver nodded, "Your parents are so cool."
"They are."
"You're really lucky."
Drew nodded, "I know."
Sean asked, "So, what does your day look like tomorrow?"
"I'll be at the Rosedale house most of the day to make sure everything is set up for the video."
"Ah, right. I still have to call that guy." Sean got into bed and asked, "What did Archie say about the computer?"
"He said he's going to see if there's an extra laptop at school that Oliver can use."
"Should we just buy him a new one?"
Emma nodded, "We could do that."
"How about we make it an afternoon on Saturday? We'll go to IKEA, and then we can go to Best Buy or Apple depending on what he likes."
Emma kissed Sean's cheek, "You're a good man, Sean Cameron." Sean scoffed, and Emma said, "You are."
"I just remember what it was like to be thrown out of the house at a young age." Emma cuddled up against him, and Sean rested his head on hers, "It's not fun."
"I can't imagine."
"That's probably why I had the reaction I did to what his mom said on the phone."
"Well, that and because you're not a piece of shit like she is."
Sean lifted his head and said, "Wow, Em."
"I'm sorry, but I'm pissed at her. How do you say that about your child? I just don't understand it at all."
"I know." Sean asked, "Maybe I should go over there and try to reason with her?"
"No. She'll just say those horrible things to your face."
"What about the husband? What's going on there? Does she rule that house?"
Emma shrugged, "I don't know. I've never met him. She's usually the one at all of the school functions."
"Are they still together?"
"As far as I know, they are."
"Maybe we can try and reason with him?"
Emma yawned, "Sorry. I'm not bored by the conversation at all."
Sean smiled, "I know. It was a long day." He kissed her hair and said, "Go to sleep."
"Aren't you going to join me?"
Sean got out of bed and said, "In a few minutes."
"Okay." Emma snuggled under the covers and said, "In case I pass out before you come back to bed, I love you."
"I love you too."
