quite a bit of time jumping throughout this chapter. Just a heads up. sorry this chapter took the longest to be posted I kinda I got caught up in watching NCIS for the first time. anyways enjoy the chapter!

The next week had gone pretty well, Camille updated Jane and Maura of what was going on, her and the twins were staying at her friends house and things have been going fine, no incidents have happened. The kids were excited to have a long slumber party, Jane and Maura couldn't really make time for the kids, they had a lot to do before their wedding in a month. Jane also had to get time to plan things to do for their honeymoon in Paris, Maura had no idea where they were going but she trusted that Jane would pick an amazing place to go.

Today was the day Maura was dreading, meeting Constance for lunch, she insisted that Jane come along and Jane was hesitant because she was probably less fond of Constance than she was with Hope, but she really would hate for Maura to do this on her own. Plus Constance would say something if Jane didn't come to lunch after finding out she was marrying her adopted daughter.

Jane looked in the mirror and frowned, "Maura, I think this dress makes me look fat."

Maura just looked at Jane and shook her head, "Jane, you look perfectly fine to me. You seem to be stressing out more over this lunch with mother than I am," she wrapped her arms around Jane's waist from behind.

"You know I just started getting used to Hope involved in our lives, now I have to play nice with Constance. Are we sure she's going to be okay with this... with us?" Jane frowned at her fiancée.

"I think mother is more understanding than Hope, but I don't know how she is since she had her stint in rehab. Sometimes rehabilitation changes people, sometimes it's for better and sometimes it's not. Let's just hope it was a good life changing experience for her," she leaned up to kiss Jane's cheek.

"Yeah well that is wishful thinking," she turned around in Maura's arms. "I apologize in advance if something goes wrong."

"Jane, you'll have nothing to apologize for, I promise," Maura reached up to stroke Jane's cheek. "If she doesn't approve she won't be invited to the wedding, it's as simple as that."

"You know she'd feel guilty if she missed the day you got married, she's missed a lot out of your life. I know Ma would go absolutely bonkers if she missed our wedding."

Maura smirked at Jane, "Bonkers?"

"Yes bonkers," Jane laughed and gave Maura a kiss.

"The one thing we can count on is Angela being at our wedding," Maura slowly pulled away from Jane. "We should go now though, before we're fashionably late and I know mother wouldn't approve of that. She might think that you're a huge distraction."

"Well I mean that wouldn't be incredibly wrong of her to believe," Jane gave Maura a cheeky smile and a wink, before linking her arm with Maura's. "I like keeping you distracted."

Meanwhile Angela and Korsak were getting ready for their doctor's appointment, today they would be finding out the gender of their baby, as long as the baby was positioned in the right way letting them see. They were both excited and had an equal amount of nerves going through their minds.

Korsak rested his hand on Angela's growing belly as they were in the room waiting for the OB/GYN. He had a chair pulled up and Angela was sitting on the bed. "You comfortable?" Korsak asked smiling over at his wife.

"Yeah, I'm as comfortable as I can be Vince, these beds sure don't have much of a comfort factor in this hospital," Angela shifted in the bed. She kept on having check ups on the baby so everything had been going fine so far, the most vital months of the pregnancy had been over as she entered her second trimester. The longer she was pregnant, the more anxious and nervous she got, just waiting for something to go wrong. She knew she should be feeling more confident since things have been going well so far, but she couldn't help but worry.

The doctor came in moments later, smiling at the both of them. "Are you two ready to see your baby?" she asked as she set up the equipment for the sonogram.

"Yes doc, I would say that we are," Korsak moved his hand from Angela's belly and going to take her by the hand.

The doctor smiled, putting the gel on Angela's belly she warned her it was going to be cold but Angela already knew from experience. She still couldn't help but feel a chill run down her spine as the doctor placed the transducer on her belly, moving the device around.

Korsak smiled once they heard the baby's heartbeat. "Your baby has a real strong heartbeat that's a very good sign," the doctor complimented. "It's in a good position we should be able to see the gender. You still want to know the sex of the baby?"

"Yes we would be more than happy to know," Angela glanced at Korsak for a moment squeezing his hand.

The doctor nodded and moved the transducer around, "Well congratulations it seems that you two are having a boy."

Angela turned to Korsak and he leaned up to kiss the top of her head. "Another boy, are you excited?"

"I do know how to handle them, and I'm sure that Jane will be more than pleased that I won't be dressing it up in frilly dresses. We're having a boy and I couldn't be happier," she smiled at him and he nodded.

"Me either. Our cute little baby boy," he smiled warmly at her, tears in both of their eyes.

Jane and Maura were waiting at the restaurant, they had been there about five minutes and Constance has yet to show up. "Are you sure she remembered that she made a lunch date with you today?" Jane asked, shifting in her seat next to Maura.

"Yes Jane, I'm positive, she texted me this morning saying she'd be here. Guess we didn't need to be here on time," Maura sighed, swirling the wine in her glass. "Maybe this was a mistake wanting to meet up with her."

"I mean she is Constance after all. If she doesn't show then at least we can have a little date. I feel like we don't get out much anymore," Jane shrugged, she hated the sound of disappointment in Maura's voice. Jane felt her phone go off in her jacket pocket, she sighed taking it out. "Speaking of mothers," she pressed the answer button, holding it to her ear. "Hey Ma! Yeah we're just waiting for her to show up is all, I wouldn't have picked up the phone in the middle of lunch... you could have just texted me you know. Uh huh... really? That's great I'm happy for you Korsak and especially that baby. He won't have to put up with those dresses I know you would have put her in. Yeah... Okay, we'll let you know when our lunch is done. Bye Ma and congratulations to you both. Love you too, bye," Jane smiled, hanging up the phone and turning to Maura.

"So I take it that Angela is having a boy?"

Jane nodded, "Yep, I'm kind of thankful for it too. She wants us all to go out later, told us to not order any dessert while we're at lunch."

"This place isn't known for their desserts, so that shouldn't be a problem," Maura frowned, looking at her watch, "Jane I think you're right, I don't think mother is coming."

"I wouldn't give up hope just yet Maura," Jane nodded as Constance entered the restaurant.

Constance noticed them and came over to their table. Maura and Jane both stood up to greet her. "Hello my dearest Maura," the older woman leaned up to kiss up daughter on her cheek. "I apologize for my lateness I had to take care of something before I came over. Detective Rizzoli, what a pleasant surprise seeing you here," she reached out her hand and Jane took it to shake.

"It's nice to see you, and you can call me Jane if you'd like. I'm not on duty," Jane looked at her before sitting down.

"Of course," she looked between the took girls before taking her seat as well. Maura observed her and noticed the difference from the last time they seen each other.

"You look like you lost a lot of weight mother, have you been doing alright?" Maura asked with a frown on her face.

"Me, yeah, I've been doing alright, it was the medicine I was taking and the lack of good food in the rehab center. I have a very special palette of taste, if you recall," she smiled as the waitress came over as she ordered some wine and they ordered their food. Constance knew what she wanted and Jane was glad they wouldn't have to wait much longer for food. "So how have you two been doing, working hard?"

"Yeah, Jane actually got a promotion at work. Nothing has really changed for me work wise, but that's definitely alright, keeping busy," Maura explained, sipping her wine. "So how have you been doing after rehab? Is father taking care of you?"

At the mention of her father, Constance's face fell, she looked down at her wine glass. "Um well... that's why I was late for our lunch. Honey, I hate to tell you this but me and your father, well we're separating. We were filling out paperwork. Apparently he found himself a new woman while I was in the hospital, it wasn't the first time he cheated apparently," she frowned.

Maura frowned at her mother's words, "I'm sorry that this has happened to you mother."

"It's going to be alright I hope. Enough about me though," Constance looked between the two of them. "How long have you two been together?"

Jane glanced over at Maura with a raised eyebrow and then turned to Constance, "You know about us?"

Constance smiled and nodded, "Of course I do, I mean it's pretty obvious. I always sort of had this idea that you two were always closer than normal friends are. And well, when I got in touch with Maura and she asked if you could join us I had a feeling that it was because you two are more than friends. Plus I noticed you both wearing engagement rings, and obvious body language you two put off around each other."

Maura reached over to take her mother's hand in hers, "And you're okay with this?"

"I am very happy for you Maura. It never mattered to me who you dated all I ever wanted is your happiness, despite what you might have thought growing up."

"Well I for one am totally relieved by this," Jane looked between the two women.

"Jane was quite nervous about this whole thing mother. I'm glad that she has nothing to worry about," Maura smiled over at Jane as the waitress came over with their food.

"So when does your wedding take place?" Constance asked, sipping her wine.

"April 14th at 3 PM," Maura went through her purse and pulled out an invite, handing it over to her. "Here's the invitation figured I'd give it to you in person. I know how you are with checking the mail box."

"Yeah I am pretty forgetful at things like this, plus with me needing to find a place to live if you sent it to your father's address I wouldn't get it. He's not coming to the wedding, is he?"

"Honestly, I wasn't planning on it, you know how my relationship with father is. He wouldn't approve of this relationship I have with Jane anyways. I know it's rude to not invite him, but we all know how that conversation would go," Maura sighed.

"That's true and I apologize on your father's behalf, even though I guess I don't have to do that anymore," she gave her head a shake and continued eating her lunch. Jane and Maura shared a look before then resumed eating as well.

The following week had approached, Maura had gone wedding dress shopping with Cailin, Hope was going to join but then something came up so it was just the two of them. They went to one store but none of the dresses gave Maura a warm feeling. She knew when she found the dress she would know. She couldn't help but wonder how Jane was doing shopping with her mother. Maura knew Jane absolutely hated shopping so she could only begin to image how that went with Angela.

Maura was currently eating lunch with Cailin, "Don't you feel a little bit paranoid that you won't find the perfect dress in time?" The younger girl couldn't help but ask.

"I'm honestly trying not to think about that right now," she ate her salad. "I have to think positively Cailin, or else I'd begin to freak out."

"And we wouldn't want to have that, now would we?" she looked down at her sandwich. "We can talk about something else, if you'd like."

Maura nodded, "Sounds good to me. How are things going with you and Camille?"

Cailin sighed, "Well things are kind of at a standstill right now I think she's getting more and more paranoid that someone is coming for her. I haven't seen her in a few days, she hasn't really given me any updates," she sipped at her drink. "Tommy has um... kind of been keeping me company."

"Tommy, why Tommy? Cailin, you don't... you know, have a thing for him, do you?" Maura frowned putting her fork down.

"It's just like an emotional support thing. He's been avoiding Frost and I've... we've just been getting along is all," she shrugged. "Not a big deal."

"I think it kind of is a big deal Cailin, he's Jane's brother and I don't know if you should be hanging out with him alone..."

"Maura. I'm glad you're concerned and all, but I'm an adult and I can have adult friends. Tommy and I just have a friendship, nothing more. I know he still misses Frost and I miss the time I had been spending with Cami. It's just a support thing I swear," Cailin sighed. "I don't want to talk about this anymore."

"You seem a little defensive is all. I don't want you getting hurt."

"Yeah I know you don't, but I can hold myself together. You don't have to worry about me, it's all fine. I swear. We should get back to shopping soon."

Maura finished off her salad with a sigh, "I suppose you're right. Got to get back to finding the perfect dress."

Meanwhile Jane was sitting on the couch at her mother's house, drinking beer while watching TV. Dress shopping had become too stressful for Jane and Angela needed a break from all that walking around.

Frankie and Tommy ended up showing up, joining their sister on the couch as their mother was taking a nap. The brothers relationship has been a little strained since Tommy came back from his self discovery trip, neither of them quite knew what Tommy has changed about himself on that trip. He seemed more uptight than usual.

Frankie wanted to cut his brother out of his life, but he didn't find a way to go about it yet. He definitely didn't want to do it until after Jane and Maura got married, they didn't need any drama near their wedding day. "You find what you are getting married in yet?" Frankie could not help but ask.

"I'm day drinking on Ma's couch and we only went shopping for two hours, what do you think? Shopping with a pregnant mother isn't the easiest thing to do. She seems pretty tired and irritable and Korsak is working so damn much I bet she's quite frustrated by that. I understand that he needs to work more until he gets more from his pension, when Cavanaugh left all the paperwork and stuff has gotten pretty screwy. He's going to work himself into an early grave and I won't be so happy with him," Jane downed the rest of her beer before going to the kitchen and getting some more.

Jane had a lot of irritability going on herself, the wedding keeps coming closer and she has a feeling something is going to go wrong and she couldn't shake the feeling.

"Jane seems really stressed out," Tommy frowned, running a hand through his hair. "I do not know why."

"She carries so much onto herself all the time, I feel bad that she is just going to break one day and who the hell knows what's going to be that breaking point. That's why we are here remember? Why Ma told us to come over while she was sleeping. She's concerned about Jane as well."

"Maybe Jane isn't getting laid that much. I know that shit drives me crazy sometimes. Sexual release could definitely help her out," Tommy shrugged his shoulders.

"Is that why you and Frost aren't back together yet?"

"Because he isn't a sexual person? I'm not that shallow Frankie."

"You could have fooled me. Tommy I'm not blind of how you look at people these days, like they are a piece of meat or something. I don't like it. You even give Cailin that look, I'm more observant than you think."

Tommy couldn't help but laugh, "Frankie you're just imaging things, there is nothing going on with me and Cailin."

"Sure, whatever you want to believe."

"Just like there's 'nothing' going on between you and Frost. Give me a break," Tommy stood up and rolled his eyes. "I seen you the other day. You think I didn't notice that kiss you gave him the other day. The way you look at him."

"That was me being nice, and it was only on the cheek and it only happened because you were being a dick," Frankie raised his voice.

"You always wanted him for yourself Frankie and that's bull shit."

"At least I know how to take care of him and not vanish and make him feel like shit. You left and I had to pick up the pieces, if anything happened it's your own damn fault," Frankie stood up.

Jane heard raised voices and went back into the living room, "What the hell is wrong with the both of you?"

They both turned to look at their sister, "Nothing," Tommy shook his head. "Nothing at all," he shoved passed Frankie and left out the front door.

Jane glared at Frankie, "Are you two still seriously fucking fighting about Frost? You know that shit is getting really old. He deserves better than this, if you or Tommy cared about Frost at all you would both talk this out like adults. Or at least stop being petty and just both move on."

"I don't think I can do that Jane," Frankie shook his head. "I care too much about Frost to just let Tommy get away with whatever the hell he wants. Jane, I have to go. I'm sorry for the arguing, he just irks my damn nerves."

"You three need to straighten things out, okay? I am not losing my family just because my two brothers don't know how to handle shit like two mature adults. Frost deserves better."

"I know he does Jane, I know," Frankie frowned, giving her sister a hug. "I'll see you around, okay?"

Jane nodded, "Hopefully with a much better attitude from both of you. If anything ends up ruining my wedding day with Maura, I'll make you both very sorry you were ever born," she threatened.

Frankie nodded, "I don't want anything to mess up your special day, believe me," he kissed her cheek before leaving the house. Jane resumed her spot back on the couch, opening up her beer.

"Those two are going to piss me the hell off," she pulled out her phone and texted Maura. At Ma's, dress shopping put on hold. I think I'm going to keep her company today. Hope all is going well with you and Cailin. My sibling drama keeps getting worse. Sometimes I wish I was an only child.

Maura had texted her back almost immediately, I'm having no such luck with dress shopping either. Are they still arguing over Frost?

Yep they are, it's like they have nothing better to do. Things would probably have been fine if Gwen never left Frankie. I'm done feeling sorry for my brothers. All I know is that they better fix this shit before the wedding.

I'm sure they will or feel the wrath of Jane Rizzoli, am I right?

Most definitely. I love you Maura hope your wedding dress shopping becomes a success. I don't think they'd appreciate us having a nude wedding.

That would be highly inappropriate, that's for sure. Good luck to you as well.

It had been a few days before both Maura and Jane had found their wedding dresses, they were both very relieved. They ended up heading to the Dirty Robber to celebrate their long search for the perfect dress to wear and not having to shop anymore. Korsak was working, of course, like he had been a lot for the past couple of weeks.

"Ma misses you, you know Korsak, don't you think you've been working a little too much lately?" Jane frowned, swirling her beer around in the bottle.

"Staying home doesn't exactly pay the bills Jane," he sighed as he wiped down the counter. "Plus I heard that you have been keeping her company, it's not like I've abandoned her, I'm trying to work while your mother can't. You can understand that right?"

"Yeah, but it doesn't help that she has been moping around all the time. It's kind of depressing, right Maura?" Jane turned to her and Maura nodded.

"Just a bit yeah, you should probably make it up to her somehow. I'm sure that she'd like something that could cheer her up, maybe go on a trip or somewhere nice over the weekend," she suggested. "I know Jane loves it when we go somewhere or have our special alone time. Although I know you and Angela shouldn't be having intercourse any time soon, it could put a strain on the pregnancy and well that's not exactly what she needs right now."

"Well I thank you both for giving me your insights. I'm sure that there is something I could do to make her not feel so abandoned."

"It's the best thing for you, I promise," Jane lifted up her beer bottle before taking a sip. "And staying on my good side as our wedding comes closer. I've been on this threatening spree, making sure nothing goes wrong the time our wedding day comes."

Korsak looked to Maura who nodded, "She's right you know, she has already threatened her brothers, probably more than once. The last thing we need is something happening on our wedding day."

"Of course, I wouldn't dream of letting anything happen on a day I never thought I'd see in my lifetime," he smirked and Jane rolled her eyes.

"I probably wouldn't make any jokes either if I were you Vince," Maura sipped her wine with a smile.

"My apologies," he handed Jane another beer and then turned to who just came into the bar. "Hey Frost, you look like hell."

Frost sat down next to Jane and grumbled, his tie was hanging loose around his neck. "Crowe is the biggest asshole in the whole world. Why did you stick me with him as my partner Jane?"

"Because I don't trust Frankie and you to be working on cases together right now. What happened anyways?"

"We were chasing after a perp and Crowe ended up shoving me to the ground because I was running too slow according to him. Can I have a beer Korsak?" Frost groaned, he had some pain in his shoulder from being shoved down.

"Sure thing buddy, is your shoulder going to be okay?" he slid him a beer.

"I'm sorry that Crowe is such a dick, I'll talk to him for you. Did he even bother to help you up?" Jane asked him.

"Didn't even apologize."

"Definitely a dick," Jane shook her head. "So besides that, how are things with you? We haven't talked in a while, like really talked."

"If you're asking how it's going with in my personal life, I'd really not like to talk about it. Both of your brothers are driving me insane. It's like a competition between the both of them. I'd really like for them to stop," Frost looked down at his beer. "I don't mind taking time to just be alone for now. If I knew they would be acting like this I wouldn't have gotten involved with either of them or even entertained the idea. It's really putting a damper on me and Frankie's friendship."

Jane rested her hand on his, "I told them to just leave you alone, apparently they don't want to listen to me. I'm sorry about all of this. Who knew they could be this immature, especially Frankie, thought he was better than this."

Frost shrugged, "I honestly don't know what the big fuss is about. I'm just me..."

"You're more than that Frost, you need to give yourself more credit," Jane reassured him.

"Jane's right you know Barry," Maura offered him a soft smile. "You and Jane have that in common, both thinking there's nothing really special about you, when there are many things great about each of you."

Jane smirked, "Maura is one of the best judges of character, I mean if Maura never given me a chance I'd be as stubborn as I always have been."

"I think you're still pretty stubborn Jane," Frost teased. "She did get you to be a little less stubborn if it's any consolation."

She wrapped her arm around Frost's shoulders, "This is why you're the best man in my wedding Frosty. You're an amazing person and an amazing partner, I'll let you work with me from now on, Frankie can handle Crowe. You're stuck with me, my good friend."

Frost smirked, "I could get down for that. Thanks for taking my concerns into consideration."

"I got you bro, always, just remember that." Jane let go off his shoulders tapping her beer bottle against his. She felt her phone go off in her pocket, it was an unknown number. She picked it up. "Jane Rizzoli..."

"Hello, this is Valerie...I I'm a friend of Camille's she told me to call you," the woman's voice sounded panicked.

"What happened?"

"Someone broke into my place and Camille was there alone, when I came home with her kids after closing the daycare for the day. There was a man and Cami was beaten up pretty badly. He vanished and the kids are freaking out. We just got to the hospital. She... she told me that I could trust you and she wants to only talk to you about what happened and someone named Maura...the kids say they want her here too."

Jane gripped her phone and nodded, "Okay, okay. I'll be right there," she hung up the phone and slid Korsak a twenty for her and Maura's drinks. "Maura we got to go."

"What's wrong Jane?" Maura asked, getting up realizing it must have been something real important.

"Camille, she's in the hospital," was all she said before she was out the door and Maura in tow.

When they made it to the hospital, they were immediately greeted by Kate and Todd, both with tears running down their faces.

"Mama got hurt by a bad man," Kate frowned. "Why would someone want to hurt her?"

Jane kneeled down in front of the girl, tucking a hair behind her ear, "I'm not sure sweetie, but I'm going to find out okay? And make sure me and Maura can do anything to keep her safe. You three are very important to us," she looked at the two kids. Jane stood up and noticed the dark-haired woman. "You must be Valerie."

"Yes, I am, you must be Jane.. I don't know who it was or why someone wants to hurt my friend. She has no enemies that I'm aware of," she sounded defeated. "I can take you to her room," she turned to Maura. "And you must be Maura Isles, I thank you for coming as well the kids wanted you here."

"Of course, I'll stay here with the kids while Jane visits Camille," Maura grabbed onto both of their hands before leading them to a vending machine. "What did you two want to eat? My treat."

Jane couldn't help but smile at how natural Maura was with the kids as her and Valerie went to Camille's room. Camille was laying in bed with a swollen eye, arm in cast and IV attached to her other arm. She noticed the moment Jane walked in. "Good, you came," she said in a scratchy voice.

Jane noticed the bruises forming on her neck turned to Valerie, "I'll talk to Camille alone now, if you don't mind."

"No of course not," she looked at her friend in the bed a frown on her face before she left, closing the door behind her. Jane sat down on a chair and pulled out a notepad.

"I'm going to start out with a question, did you know the man who did this to you?" Jane observed the woman and she nodded.

"Yeah...it-it was Kate and Todd's birth father. Johnny Calpine. I don't know how he found me, but he was asking where the kids were and when I didn't tell him he just kept getting angrier. Jane I'm scared," she shook her head, tears running down her face.

"I'll get him for what he did to you, you do not deserve this," Jane rested a hand on hers. "I'm going to have to get a written statement by you about the accident and how it happened. My brother will be coming to give us the paper to fill out."

"He tried to strangle me Jane, I was almost blacked out when I heard the door open and my kids talking. He dropped me to the ground and left out of the window. They didn't see what happened but Jane... the look on their faces... I thought I was supposed to be safe, no one was paroling the area."

Jane frowned, "I'm so sorry that no one was there to look for suspicious activity. I'll get a better detail for you. Even get a security guard to sit outside your room here. Someone I trust."

"I-I only trust you Jane, please don't leave me here alone with someone else, if the guy paroling the residence I'm staying at wasn't there how can we be sure that I'll be protected here," Camille asked, shifting in the bed. "Please Jane," her eyes begged.

Jane ran a hand through her hair. "Whatever you need to feel safe, but I'm sure my brother Frankie wouldn't mind staying here until you get released from the hospital. What did you want to do about your kids?"

"I don't think they'd trust going back to Valerie's house, if he knows where they are at. I don't want them to go back there, and I don't want to ask for you and Maura to watch them, that would be too much of a hassle for you with the jobs you both have."

"I'll talk to Maura and see what she wants to do. We are willing to help keep you guys safe." Jane assured her before Frankie came inside the room.

"Hey Jane, I got the paperwork you needed," he handed her the folder. Frankie couldn't help but look at Camille with a frown at how fragile she looked.

Jane looked over at Camille, "Do you mind if Frankie stays here with you to fill out this report? While I go talk to Maura and your kids?"

Cami glanced over at Frankie and then back to Jane and nodded. "Yeah, just don't go too far please?"

"I'll be right outside in the waiting room, I promise. Frankie please take care of her," she rested her hand on her brother's shoulder before leaving the room and heading over to Maura, Valerie and the kids.

"Does she know who did this to her?" Valerie asked as Maura was telling the kids a story.

"Yeah she does. We're trying to figure out what the next step is," Jane turned to the kids. "Hey, do you mind if me and Maura here go talk about something? It's important."

Todd looked at his sister then up at Jane, "Do we have to go back home at Valerie's? We don't wanna go back."

Valerie looked at the two kids, "Let them talk and see what they want to do."

Maura got up from the chair she was sitting in, after Kate crawled out of her lap. They went to the other side of the room. "Is she doing okay?" she asked.

Jane sighed, "It was pretty bad, I think she has a broken arm and the bastard tried to strangle her. The guy who attacked her was the children's birth father. Apparently he got pissed when she wouldn't tell him where the kids were. If they didn't show up when they did she would have probably died. Just imagine that shit, being four years old and finding your mother dead. I can't even begin to imagine," Jane sat down in a chair feeling defeated. "She wants me to stay here and keep watch of her room, just in case he comes here. She doesn't trust anyone else to stay."

Maura sat down next to her, resting a hand on her leg. "I want to do anything to help, even if it means staying at the hospital with you tonight."

"She doesn't want them to go back to Valerie's, I don't blame her, but I think she would be comfortable with them staying with us. That's what I wanted to talk to you about. I think the doctors are just going to keep her here overnight. But if she wants the kids to stay at our place I don't want you to be alone in this especially if she wants me to stay here. I'm trying to convince her to let Frankie watch the room tonight. She seemed pretty set on me staying though," Jane leaned back closing her eyes. "I don't want the kids staying at the hospital."

"I wouldn't mind the kids staying at our place, I'm off of work tomorrow so I can look after them if you stay here," Maura looked over at the kids and Valerie. "The kids seem comfortable with Valerie, I mean I don't know how she feels about going back to her place, what if he comes back and she ends up getting hurt."

Jane nodded, "Well I'll see what Camille says about Frankie watching her room and see if I have to stay here or not. She seems really frightened."

Maura nodded, "Well whatever is best works for me. I don't mind helping out whatever way I can. Plus I'd feel much better if I stayed with the kids. I've gotten kind of use to them being around in our lives," she squeezed Jane's hand and nodded.

"They have become really important to us, haven't they? We're going to make great moms one day," Jane rested her head on Maura's shoulder.

"There isn't a single doubt in my mind," Maura looked up at Jane with a smile.
