Chapter 33: Stanley McCormick and Kenneth Marsh

"You wanna do what?"

"Dye our hair."

That snowy mid-afternoon, Stan and Kenny were enjoying each others company on the bench at Stark's pond - initially they were going to go ice skating on the frozen pond, but the sheet of ice didn't look thick enough for that and they weren't about to risk getting hypothermia - when Kenny suddenly suggested they should dye their hair. Stan is used to his randomness and it's one of the redeeming qualities he likes about him, he isn't afraid to speak what's on his mind. Half the time it's just outrageous, flirty or just plain weird thoughts anyway.

"Why all of a sudden?"

Kenny ponders his reply for a moment, staring at the black strands of hair sticking out from under Stan's red poof ball hat. "Cuz aah reckon you'd look hella good wit blonde hair. Or maybe white, or brown, or blue. Oooo~ blue would actually go well wit yer eyes!"

Stan chuckles at his enthusiasm, his already flushed cheeks turning a shade darker as he gazes back at the thinly iced pond. "I dunno Ken, do you even know how to dye hair?"

"Never tried so aah doubt it, but aah have someone in mind that can do it fer us. Free of charge too."

Stan looks to him curiously. "Who?"

Answering with an impish grin, Kenny hooks an arm around Stan's arm and hauls him up on his feet. After grabbing their ice skates, they go to the Marsh's abode.

Come Monday, Kenny - for once - is excited to return to school. Him and his boyfriend enter the building after getting off the bus along with the rest of the students, going straight for their redheaded friend once they spot him at his locker. Kyle used to take the bus with them, but his mother bought him a car last year for his birthday and ever since then he's been riding himself to school. He offers Kenny and Stan transport to and from school from time to time (Whenever he felt like it), excluding Cartman because he doesn't deserve his generosity.

"Sup Kyle?"

The Jewish teen turns around after shutting his locker, clutching a notebook and two thin textbooks close to his chest. "Hey...Stan?" He knits his eyebrows thoughtfully. "Hang on, something's...off about you." Then he gives 'Kenny' a once over. "The both of you actually."

Perceptive as always. 'Stan' cocks a confused eyebrow. "How so?"

Kyle assesses his two best friends. Nothing seems out of the ordinary with their Winter attire, 'Kenny' wearing his orange parka with his hood tightly wrapped around his head - leaving his hazel eyes visible, black pants, and brown snow boots. 'Stan' is wearing his red poof ball hat though this time his hair isn't sticking out, brown jacket, blue jeans, and sneakers. Unlike 'Kenny', he's carrying a bookbag. Kyle knows for sure he can differentiate the two, he just has to look at them carefully. And it's a good thing he does too, because he notices a difference.

"You're taller than Kenny."

The couple looks at each other with a blink, then shrugs. "I just had a growth spurt over the weekend," 'Stan' replies nonchalantly looking back at Kyle, who's lime-green eyes narrow into his sapphire ones. Yeah he's not buying it.

"Speaking of the weekend, what did you and I do last Saturday?"

Confusion reappears on 'Stan's' face at the abrupt question. "Actually me and Kenny hung out that day. We were gonna go ice skating at Stark's pond, but the ice didn't look sturdy enough to do that on so we just hung out there on the bench for a bit."

Kyle face-palms. "No not this last Saturday, I'm talking about last last Saturday."

'Stan' nervously sweatdrops. "Uh..." C'mon 'Kenny', help your boyfriend out!

"Hmmm? Can't remember?" Kyle smirks.

"O-of course I remember! Don't rush me jeez."

'Kenny' shakes his head. Well, they've dragged this on long enough anyway, and knowing Kyle he wouldn't let the matter drop until he solved it like it was some mystery case. Loosening the strings to his hood, he pulls it back saying, "You helped me study for a test." Kenny looks at him with a pout. "And I told you about it a day in advance."

Kenny blinks owlishly at the recollection of that day. "Oh yeah, aah fergot." He grins.

Kyle is speechless for a moment or two. "Did you two decide to swap lives or something?"

"Nope." Removing Stan's hat, Kenny smooths out his black locks.

"We were to supposed to had just gotten our hair dyed, but Kenny decided to be extra. As you can see," Stan clarifies, heading for his locker a door away from Kyle's.

Kyle is once again at a loss for words, only able to find his voice after a few seconds. "I'm not even gonna question it."

Going to his locker as well, which he actually shares with Stan, Kenny says, "Well aah'm gonna tell ya anyway. Aah got Shelly ta be our stylist, told 'er-"

"Bribed her," Stan rectifies.

"Aah'd hook 'er up wit my bro if she helped us out an' didn't fuck us over. An' as fer why, well, all aah gotta say is that Stanny makes one helluva sexy blonde jus' lac aah thought he would." He ruffles Stan's head affectionately.

"Sexier than you?" Stan jests with a light blush.

"A lil bit."

"...You two are so weird." Stan and Kenny laugh at Kyle's habitual response to whenever they - most times in Kenny's case - do something that makes him worry about their sanity. Afterwards, the bell shrills for students to hurry to their first class of the day. After grabbing their supplies - not switching their notebooks and textbooks with each other - Stan, Kenny, and Kyle do just that.

All throughout school, people kept mistaking Stan for Kenny and Kenny for Stan. Their reactions were hilarious, especially the teachers'. Well it was funny to Kenny, but annoying to Stan. In Stan's case, he had to reveal himself almost instantly to his teachers so he didn't get detention or suspended for 'trying to disrupt their lessons'. Curse Kenny for being a well known troublemaker, but the good thing was that he at least didn't have to behave like his boyfriend. He's not able to be goofy and frisky on purpose. The only time Kenny showed that he wasn't actually Stan was when he accidentally broke character, it happened during lunch. Him, Stan, Kyle, Cartman, Butters, Wendy, Bebe, and Craig's crew were all sat a table, only a few of them knew of their actual identities but promised not to spoil the others.

Since Kenny was a bubbly guy (Butters was too), it didn't take much to make him laugh, and when Tweek went on a conspiracy rant about the Government and brainwashing, Kenny burst out into hysterics. It was just the way he expressed so much disdain and paranoia into his speeches that Kenny found it amusing.

The couple's fun comes to an end once the last bell of the day rings. After switching jackets and Kenny giving Stan his hat back, they put their things into the locker and Stan shuts it, leaving his bookbag inside it. He only takes it home whenever he has homework. They walk out of the double doors of the building, heading for a bus. There's seven of them parked up ahead.

"Well taday was fun," Kenny beams.

"Yeah, but are we gonna do this the whole week?" Stan questions rubbing an eye. They board a bus and claim the first seat on the left, more students start situating themselves in the other empty seats.

"Aah don't mind, but if you do then we don't have to," Kenny says.

Stan leans his head on Kenny's shoulder. "We'll just keep each others hair color, but not the contacts. Were a pain to deal with."

"Mhm, agreed." Kenny leans his head on top of Stan's, and they wait for the bus driver to drop them off to their homes.
