Chapter 39

.

Will Macovoy didn't necessarily trust the information Hank Jones was giving him. But Hank was right about one thing, if it was true the american people had every right to know. But, as a journalist and a lawyer, neither Will nor his team was satisfied with the evidence. As a lawyer he wouldn't have gone to court with this, and as a journalist he wasn't about to repeat these unfounded accusations on the air. On the night of November 6th, two days before the congressional mid-term elections, Will agreed to meet with Hank in private.

.

Hank: I find it odd that you haven't even mentioned the story I gave you.

Will: I checked the sources, and I'm not satisfied.

Hank: The american people have a right to know this.

Will: If it's true. But I have an obligation to report the facts, to make sure it will stand up to scrutiny.

Hank: Early voting has already begun. How many will want their vote back after they learn of this?

Will: A fair amount. My job is to make sure people have the relevant facts, then they can make an informed decision about which candidates to support or reject.

Hank: You're doing this country a dis-service. You will regret it.
