Chapter 30: Ginny Loses Her Sanity
At the ministry, Dumbledore was secured to a chair in the interrogation room while McGonagall was in a holding cell waiting her turn to be asked questions. As soon as Amelia entered the interrogation room, she ordered the former Hogwarts headmaster to be given Veritaserum. Kingsley poured three drops of the potion into Dumbledore's mouth and after a minute, Albus' eyes clouded as he fell into a trance-like state.
"Who are you?" asked Amelia, checking to make sure the potion was working.
"Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore." Albus responded in a monotone voice.
"What were your motives for placing Harry with the Dursleys when Lily and James specifically said to keep him away from them at all costs?" asked Amelia.
"So he could fulfill his destiny for the Greater Good," said Albus. "If he were placed in an abusive environment, Harry would've felt his life was worthless and he would sacrifice himself and allow Voldemort to strike him down and get rid of the horcrux residing in his scar."
"What did Miss Weasley being Harry's hostage for the second task have to do with it?" asked Amelia.
"She offered to be Harry's hostage," said Albus. "She was also the perfect choice for Harry to date and eventually marry."
"Do Arthur and Molly know of their daughter being Harry's hostage?" asked Amelia.
"No," said Albus. "She went behind her parents' backs to take part in the second task to ensure she would end up with the hero of her dreams. I even allowed it to happen without Arthur's and Molly's consent. When Harry returned to the surface of the Black Lake with Miss Gabrielle Delacour, I dived in to retrieve Miss Weasley in another attempt to make sure no one else would find out about my plans."
"Was making him do all the work meant for teachers part of that Greater Good plan of yours?" asked Amelia.
"Yes, it was," said Albus. "With a little help from using Felix Felicis."
Amelia widened her eyes in sheer horror to realize that Albus' luck was artificial. She was so outraged that she ordered Albus to be given the antidote to the Veritaserum and escorted back to his holding cell before she could be tempted to beat him to smithereens. Then Amelia ordered Minerva to be brought in and secured to the chair. As soon as that was taken care of, Kingsley poured three drops of Veritaserum into McGonagall's mouth. Minerva's eyes clouded as she fell into the trance-like state.
"Are you Minerva McGonagall?" asked Amelia, checking to make sure the potion was working.
"Yes." said Minerva in a monotone voice.
"What were your motives for making Harry suffer such prolonged cruel and unjust treatment?" asked Amelia.
"Albus said it was necessary for Harry to be prepared for the Greater Good by keeping him isolated from as many people as possible," said Minerva. "So I dismissed his suspicions and complaints as much as possible, instead unjustly punishing him while allowing the real wrongdoers off the hook. Not until Harry asked me how his parents would've reacted did I finally wake up to the reality of Albus' plans, even though I know it's too late to make amends with Harry."
"Yes, and Lily especially would've been furious with you for that," Amelia told Minerva in an angry voice. "You should've remembered her temper before blindly following Albus and his misdirection games."
Amelia ordered the antidote to be given and have Minerva escorted back to her holding cell to await trial. Now the next task was to go to the Daily Prophet main office and get Antonin Dolohov arrested and hauled to the ministry before going after Lucius and Draco to rearrest them. Amelia breathed a sigh of exasperation that the whole ordeal was still far from finished, with Dolores' reign of terror having exacerbated it.
Back at Hogwarts, Harry and Neville were in the courtyard with their respective girlfriends. Adrian and Daphne soon joined them to talk about plans for the Easter holidays. Just before they could do so, Fleur and her sister, Gabrielle, approached the six. Gabrielle ran up to Harry and engulfed him in a hug (with Harry hugging her back).
"Thanks for rescuing me from the lake, Harry!" Gabrielle expressed her gratitude.
"It was nothing, Gabrielle," assured Harry. "I just wanted to see you back with Fleur, all safe and sound."
"You can call me Gabby if you wish," Gabrielle informed Harry. "I tend to go by Gabby, as it isn't a mouthful."
"Papa came by to rip Dumbledore a new one for never telling him and maman about the merpeople in the Black Lake, though he doesn't yet know the ole coot has been arrested already," Fleur told Harry. "Gabby tagged along to thank you for rescuing her herself." Gabby nodded her head to confirm it.
"No wonder the merpeople looked murderous," said Harry with realization. "I never knew they hated any kind of veela."
"Veela and merpeople have been in a feud for centuries," Fleur explained. "I managed to spot the merpeople before the grindylows attacked me. Papa was too furious to confront Dumbledore as soon as I told him, so he had to wait until he cooled down enough."
"Will your dad go to our ministry to confront him there?" asked Harry.
"I believe so," said Fleur. "He'll even press charges against the ole coot for endangering Gabby, since the merpeople would've… I don't want to say it, just too horrible."
"So Professor Dumb-As-Door is bound to face trial at the french ministry, too?" asked Harry.
"Pretty much." Fleur confirmed.
Neither Harry nor his friends had any knowledge that Ginny was watching them from behind a tree that was twenty feet away. The jealous redhead was shaking with pure rage to see Gabby giving Harry a hug. The longer she kept spying on the group, the more anger and jealousy Ginny was feeling. Then she left her hiding spot while making sure to stay all cool and calm.
"Looks like your obsessed fangirl decided to drop by, Harry." Daphne alerted him, pointing her finger in Ginny's direction behind him.
Neville immediately backed away to keep his distance from Ginny, with Tori standing in front of him to ensure the Weasley girl wouldn't try to smack Neville again for no reason (with Fleur doing the same for her sister). Everybody else crossed their arms while flashing Ginny dirty looks to show their displeasure.
"Hello again, Harry," Ginny responded in her sweet-talk voice, trying to be endearing as much as possible. "I was looking for you, since you need to get some treatment for amnesia."
"You can't be serious, Ginevra," said Harry, exasperated. "You don't even know what amnesia is."
"You were confused during the second task," Ginny professed. "Since the Beauxbatons bitch set you up to rescue her bratty little sister instead of me."
"Excuse me?!" Fleur exclaimed, hardly believing her ears.
"You heard me, you bimbo!" Ginny snapped at Fleur.
"I don't appreciate you passing me off as a bimbo," growled Fleur. "And for passing Gabby off as a brat! You're the spoiled brat, anybody can see it from a mile away."
"Harry, tell that Beauxbatons bitch she's a filthy liar!" Ginny ordered.
"No!" said Harry defiantly. Then he proceeded to rip her a new one, once and for all. "I'm gonna tell you once, and only, one more time, Ginevra. You've always seen me as the Boy-Who-Lived instead of the real me and you'll never grow out of that because you refuse to move on with your life. I've even made it clear to you several times that I would never be interested in you that way, but you just ignore that and assume that it was all a joke. You're already in enough trouble because Tracey and I found out about your scheme with several of your friends to drug me with Amortentia. It also became clear that you've all been drugging Cedric and Cho since they had to spend some time in the hospital wing before the second task."
What Ginny didn't know was that Cedric and Cho happened to be strolling by and upon spotting the flaming-red hair belonging to the Weasley girl, they tiptoed away to alert a school official that Ginny had been found. Ginny, being arrogant as usual, didn't think she would get in trouble because (in her delusional mind) she was confident that Harry would bribe her way out of retribution.
"This is the final straw, Ginevra," Harry continued. "Posing as my hostage for the task in another futile attempt to seal your happily ever after and trying to pass Fleur off as a bitch and Gabby as a brat just intensified the final straw. Dumbledore and McGonagall are already in ministry custody and your time to face the same fate on the verge of happening."
"NO, NO, NO, NOOOOOO!" Ginny squealed while stamping her feet on the ground with her fists by her sides, like the spoiled brat she was. "DON'T SAY THAT!"
"See that, Ginevra," said Tracey matter-of-factly. "You're throwing yet another tantrum and continue to be delusional."
"Fine, I'll deal with you." Ginny replied in a shrill voice, before turning her attention to Fleur. "But first, it's time for the coward of the Beauxbatons bitch and her bratty sister to get their bloody dues."
"If anyone's a coward, it's you, Ginevra." said Fleur.
"Try me, bitch!" Ginny challenged, arrogance in her voice.
Fleur marched over to Ginny, but she began keeping her distance from the Beauxbatons champion. Harry and the rest of his friends watching the ordeal were giggling like crazy. Ginny continued trying to stay away from Fleur (who was getting more furious because of Ginny unwilling to fight), remembering the last time when she dealt with her. No matter how hard she tried, Ginny couldn't outwit Fleur. The Beauxbatons champion finally grabbed Ginny by the front of her blouse and threw her to the ground for good measure. Then Fleur gave Gabby the honour of giving Ginny a couple kicks to the rear, which she did with glee.
"You ended up proving us wrong," Daphne sneered to Ginny. "You're the coward after all, not Fleur."
Ginny refused to admit the truth, yet again. Instead, she glared at Fleur in retaliation for 'humiliating' her in front of Harry. As she got back onto her feet, Ginny rubbed her bottom in pain where Gabby kicked her, as the kicks were rather hard. Nevertheless, Ginny continued glaring at Fleur in pure hatred.
"Alright, you skank," Ginny growled at Fleur, finally becoming unhinged. "I'm… gonna… KILL YOU!"
Ginny charged at Fleur furiously, intending to put her hands around Fleur to strangle her to death. She was unsuccessful because Fleur was strong and easily pushed the deranged Weasley girl. When Ginny charged at Fleur again to continue her plan to strangle her, the angry Beauxbatons champion easily dodged it and punched the Weasley girl in the stomach with the remaining strength she had (due to the fight resulting in exhaustion). Getting punched in the stomach caused Ginny to grasp it in pain while groaning. A minute or so later, Cedric and Cho finally returned with Andi, Sirius, Remus, Professors Flitwick and Sprout, and the head governor behind them.
"Well, well, Miss Weasley," Remus began informing her. "It looks like you got yourself in too deep. Amelia and some of the aurors are already on their way here."
"That's attempted first degree murder you committed on me," Fleur told Ginny (who was still hunched over). "More than likely, you'll be facing trial at the french ministry, too."
"And I think multiple counts of attempted second degree murder for the Chamber of Secrets fiasco a couple years ago should be added to your record," Daphne told a now shocked and utterly terrified Ginny. "Many of us read that article about Harry's interview with Adrian's mother. Since you were foolish to keep writing in a cursed diary and allowing that basilisk to roam the school throughout that whole year with no regard for your fellow students, including Harry, that counts as attempted second degree murder."
Everybody (including Harry) began nodding their heads in agreement, much to Ginny's horror. She knew there was no way in escaping, as everyone was keeping an annoyingly close watch on her. Amelia and several aurors arrived moments later, where they were told everything as to what happened moments earlier.
"Miss Weasley, you're under arrest for attempted first degree murder of Miss Delacour, multiple counts of attempted second degree murder for allowing the Chamber of Secrets fiasco to happen, drugging Mr. Diggory and Miss Chang with mind-altering potions in dangerous doses, public endangerment, attempted line theft on House Potter, eluding justice, conspiracy, tampering with evidence, and brewing up illegal potions." Amelia told an utterly terrified Ginny. "You don't have to say anything as it may harm your defence in court. Anything you choose to say can be given in evidence. Your parents will be informed of this, too."
The head governor beckoned Ginny to hand over her wand to have it snapped. However, she refused and instead shot a few stunning spells on the aurors, all but one missed (the one that didn't miss struck Amelia in the chest and caused her to stumble back and almost lose her balance). Ginny quickly had her wand disarmed and handed over to the head school governor (who snapped the wand in half), allowing the aurors to surround Ginny to place her in magic suppression handcuffs.
"NO! LET ME GOOOOOO!" Ginny squealed, as she struggled to free herself.
"Alright Miss Weasley," Kingsley began informing her. "You're now charged with resisting arrest, assault and battery on an auror, and assault and battery on the head of House Bones. I suggest you settle down before you make the situation worse."
Ginny wouldn't settle down as she continued trying to free herself while squealing for Harry to call off her arrest (which, naturally, fell on deaf ears), only to be hit with a tazing spell. After a five minute struggle, the aurors finally got the magic suppression handcuffs placed on Ginny. As soon as Ginny was back on her feet, the aurors began dragging her over to outside the school wards to take her into ministry custody. As soon as Lord Delacour made it over to where the struggle happened, Fleur and Gabby told their father everything. Then Anthony and Gabby began heading to the Three Broomsticks to use the floo network (as it was time for them to return to France). Once he made it back to the French Ministry of Magic (located in Paris) after dropping Gabby off with her grandparents, Anthony alerted the french aurors about Ginny intending to kill Fleur and that they would arrange for which trial she would have to face first, something that Draco would also be facing for what he did to Fleur.
To be continued!
Author's note: I'd like to give a shoutout to the anonymous reviewer 'Razor' for suggesting that Ginny try to confront Harry for not noticing her, only for Harry to rip her a new one for only seeing him as the Boy-Who-Lived rather than the real Harry.
Also a shoutout to the anonymous reviewer 'V' for suggesting that Ginny try to teach the Delacour girls a lesson, only for it to backfire on her.
