Everyone was at Goodwin's mansion. Yusei was still coming to grips with the fact that Kalin was a Dark Signer, but he knew that he had to beat him, for the sake of his friends and everyone he cared about. Meanwhile Alex was still thinking about what Goodwin said. Alex, I know you want revenge on the Dark Signers, but you need to keep a level head, Yubel said as she floated next to him.
"I know Yubel. But it's more than just that, I just don't wanna lose anyone else," Alex said as he stared into the courtyard. Luna saw him standing outside. "Alex?" she asked. "I wouldn't bother him right now," Akiza said. Luna turned her head to the side and saw Akiza sitting on the couch. "Has he been out there all morning?" Luna asked. "Yeah. He told me he needs some time to himself to think," Akiza informed her. "He must still be torn up about what he did when he was merged with Nightshroud," Akiza said. "I can't imagine how he must feel right now," Luna replied. "So are you having second thoughts about all this?" Akiza asked.
"No way! I'm here to help you guys, and I'm gonna give it my all!" Luna said enthusiastically. Her and Alex are so young to be caught up in all this, Akiza thought to herself. She pulled herself from her thoughts when she saw Alex walk back in. "Hey Alex, wanna have a practice duel?" Luna asked. "Maybe later, although I wouldn't mind grabbing a bite to eat with you," Alex answered. "I already ate, but I'll go with you," Luna said as she walked with him to the dining area. "So what were you thinking about earlier?" she asked him as they were walking. "I've been thinking about what Goodwin said and readying myself for the battle to come," he told her.
They arrived and found Leo loading up a plate with heaps of food. "Leo! We just ate an hour ago!" Luna yelled at him. "Relax will ya?" Leo responded. "Leo, you need to take this seriously. It'll take everything we've got to face the Dark Signers," Alex reprimanded. "Good luck with that you two, sounds like it'll be intense," he said. "So while we're out facing the forces of darkness, you're going to sit around here and do nothing?!" Luna asked. "Pretty much," he said as he set his plate on a table. I see what's really going on here Leo, Alex thought to himself, reading Leo like an open book. "You're afraid," Alex called out.
"I'm not afraid," Leo said. "Then what is it?" Alex asked, wanting to know why Leo wouldn't go. "I'm not a Signer, and I don't have any special powers like Alex. I'd just get in your way," Leo said. "Leo," Luna started. Alex put his hand on her shoulder. "Luna, I need you to trust me on this. Just know that what I'm about to do is for Leo's own good," Alex assured. "Okay," Luna said, wondering what Alex was going to do to her brother. Alex walked up behind Leo and put his hand on his shoulder. Leo turned around to face him only to be met with a punch to his cheek. He fell onto the floor and turned to face Alex. "What'd you punch me for?!" he asked. "I'm trying to knock some sense into you," Alex said.
"There's nothing wrong with me," Leo said as he got to his feet. "Don't lie to me!" Alex shouted as he drove his fist into Leo's stomach, knocking him back onto the floor. "Look at yourself Leo! You look like some puppy who got left at the park. I'm gonna tell you a secret Leo, I respected you," Alex said. Leo turned around to face Alex, unsure he'd heard him correctly. "You know why I respected you Leo? Because you had courage and resolve. You helped bring me back after Nightshroud took control of me. You, a boy with no powers or special abilities, risked everything to save his friend and protect his sister from one of the greatest evils ever known. And yet here you are with your tail between your legs. What happened to the boy who was willing to give up everything to help the people he cared about?" Alex asked.
"But, I'm not good for anything," Leo said. Alex grabbed Leo by his shirt and lifted him to his feet. "Do you hear yourself? You dueled against one of the most powerful forces of darkness that's ever existed to save your friend and keep your sister safe, and here you are calling yourself worthless?! What happened to the boy I respected and called my friend?" Alex asked. Leo looked Alex in the face, and the truth of Alex's words hit him like a ton of bricks. "We need you Leo. Your sister needs you. Even if you think you're worthless, you're her hero, and she needs you with her in the fight to come, if for nothing else than to just know you're there for her! So stop sulking around and man up!" Alex shouted.
"Hey Alex?" Leo asked. "What?" Alex asked back. "Thanks. And just so you know, the words hit even harder than your punches," Leo answered. Alex let go of his shirt. "Sorry I had to lay you out like that. I didn't think you'd listen if I didn't smack some sense into you first," Alex said. "Thanks. You're right, I may not have powers like the rest of you, but I can still help, even if it's just me cheering you guys on," Leo said. "Don't doubt yourself Leo. You're stronger than you realize," Alex said as he squeezed his friend's shoulder. "Thanks. I'll be with you guys all the way," Leo said. "That's the Leo I know," Alex said. Having helped Leo get his confidence back, Alex got himself something to eat.
After he was done, they met up with everyone else. "You doing better?" Akiza asked. "Yep. I'm ready to bring the Dark Signers down. I'm not gonna let them hurt anyone anymore," Alex said. "You've got that right. They're going down," Jack responded. Everyone proceeded to make adjustments to their decks to take on the Dark Signers. "Supreme Neos. So this is the ultimate Evil Hero. I need your help Neos, I need the help of all of you," Alex said as he held his deck in his hand. The Evil Heroes then appeared in front of Alex in spirit form. We'll always be here when you need us Alex. Now and forever, Neos said. That's right, Inferno Wing added. The Dark Signers are going down! Lightning Golem shouted.
"Thanks you guys. I can't do this without all of you," Alex said. And don't think I'm sitting out Alex. I promised Jaden that I'd always protect you, and I intend on keeping my word, Yubel said as she appeared next to Neos. "Thanks Yubel. With all of you by my side, I know I can do this," Alex said to them. Just remember that we're always here when you need us, Neos said before they all faded away. Alex walked down the hallway to find his uncle. He found him in the dining room. Perfect, Alex thought to himself as he walked up to his uncle.
"Hey Alex, you ready for this?" he asked. "Yeah. I think you dropped something," Alex said as he pointed to a spot on the floor beside his uncle. "Really?" Atticus asked. While he bent down to check, Alex quickly brought out a small vial and dumped its contents into his uncle's drink. I hope this works, he thought to himself. "There was nothing there bud," Atticus said as he turned back to face his nephew. "Oh, my bad," Alex said. "It's alright," Atticus said as he brought his cup to his mouth and took a drink. He let out a big yawn and rubbed his eyes.
"Feeling tired?" Alex asked. "Yeah, I don't know why I'm so tired all of a sudden," Atticus said. "Maybe you should get some rest before we leave," Alex suggested. "Good idea, come get me when we're ready to go," Atticus said before walking off. Alex, what did you do to Atticus? Yubel asked as she appeared next to him. "Well," Alex began as he raised his arm up and scratched the back of his head.
Flashback
"Goodwin, I want to ask you for a favor," Alex said. "What is it Alex?" the man asked. "I want to make sure my uncle stays here, I don't wanna put him in danger," Alex explained. "I see. Give me a moment please," Goodwin said before walking into the adjacent room. He came back a minute later with a small vial filled with a blue liquid. "Here," he said. "What's this for?" Alex asked. "Well, with the stress of my work, I have a difficult time sleeping. That liquid is a powerful sleeping agent. If you can get your uncle to drink it, he should be asleep long enough for you to get to the Satellite without him," Goodwin explained. "And you're sure it's safe?" Alex asked.
"Positive. Just pour some in his drink and he'll be asleep in five minutes flat and won't awaken for several hours," Goodwin assured. "Thank you," Alex said as he slipped the vial in his back pocket. "Glad I could help. I suggest you carry your plan out soon, you'll be departing before too long," Goodwin informed. "Okay," Alex said before leaving.
End of Flashback
I can't believe you did that, Atticus is going to be livid when he finds out, Yubel said. "I know, but I just don't wanna lose anyone else," Alex admitted. It's okay. I'm sure he'll forgive you, Yubel assured. "I hope so," Alex said as he began to walk down the hall. Alex met up with everyone else to wait for Goodwin. Mina arrived and escorted them all to Sector Security. "You all need to see this," Mina said as she uploaded a video feed of the Satellite to the monitor. All the streets were empty, and there was a black dome over the Satellite. "They've taken everyone in Satellite," Alex said. "Mina, can we fly in?" Yusei asked.
"I think so, but it's dangerous. Our scans won't penetrate it, and we could lose the video feed any moment now," she answered. True to her word, the monitors started going out one by one until they all showed static. "I'm going. I won't stand by while the Dark Signers continue to put innocent people in danger," Alex said. "Of course. I'll call the helicopter, but you all need to be careful, we have no idea what's waiting for you over there," Mina warned. They all headed up to the roof and were met by Goodwin. "Well, this is it," Luna said. "Jack, can I ask you a question?" Mina asked as she turned to face the former champion.
"I'd prefer if you didn't," he responded. "We all know the Dark Signers love revenge and anger," Mina said. "You're point being? That they can use that against me? Carly's out there somewhere, and I'm not gonna stop until I get her back, even if I have to beat every Dark Signer myself," Jack replied. "Misty is mine," Alex said. Everyone turned to face him. "You can duel whoever else you want Jack, but Misty is my opponent. She took my parents from me, and I won't let anyone get in my way of defeating her myself," he continued. "I understand your anger Alex, but you need to maintain your focus. You must find the original Ener-D reactor in the Satellite," Goodwin reminded.
"The original what?" Akiza asked. "What does it do?" Leo asked. "It's the source of the negative energy that caused this dark smoke to appear," Goodwin explained. "So what do we do when we find it?" Luna asked. "Once you find it, you must activate it in reverse. With any luck, it will release a burst of positive energy that will reseal the army of shadows," Goodwin answered.
A helicopter then began to approach them. "I've arranged for special transportation to the Satellite, and I believe you already know the pilot," Goodwin said as the aircraft landed. The pilot exited the craft and was revealed to be Officer Trudge. "We're fueled up and ready to go sir," he said. "Excellent," Goodwin said. "Hope you packed some peanuts," Yusei said. "Wait, I'm supposed to fly you? Goodwin what is it with you and this guy? First you want him in jail, then you want him out, and now you're giving him a first class ride! Well you can forget it!" Trudge shouted. "We don't have time for this!" Alex shouted. Everyone stared at him, surprised by his sudden outburst.
"This is more important than your personal vendetta against Yusei. You claim to be an officer of the law who protects the people of New Domino City. Well, the safety of everyone in the city, no to mention the entire world, depends on Yusei and the rest of us getting to the Satellite, so you can either keep acting like a child or do your job," Alex said curtly. "You, I," Trudge said, at a loss for words after what he just heard. "Goodwin, before we do this, you have to promise me something," Yusei said as he turned to the man. "What is it?" Goodwin asked. "If we succeed and save the world, you have to finish the bridge between the Satellite and the city. People have a right to be free, and I won't go unless you agree," Yusei said.
"Yusei, it may not even be possible to do that," Goodwin replied. "And why is that?" Yusei asked. "For years, the people of the Satellite and the city lived far apart. It's a way of life everyone accepts. Change, especially one so great, takes time," Goodwin answered. "Then I guess you're going to have to find a sixth signer, because unless you promise to do it, you're one deck short," Yusei responded. "Very well. I'll build the bridge, you have my word," Goodwin said. "Let's get the lead out, there's no time to waste!" Trudge shouted. They all boarded the helicopter and departed for the Satellite. "You've got some well-wishers on the starboard side," Trudge said as they were flying. They looked out the window and saw Dexter, Yanagi, and Tanner standing at the docks.
"Good luck you guys!" Dexter shouted. "We're counting on all of you!" Yanagi added. "We know you can do it!" Tanner shouted. Here I come Misty. And no one's going to stop me, Alex thought to himself.
