The chapter you all have been waiting for... the chapter including the long awaited Rizzles wedding. Thanks for sticking with the story thus far. Enjoy this chapter.
Maura had spent the next day with Angela, her mothers and Cailin; Camille and the twins joined in later Maura thought the more the merrier while Jane was hanging out with the boys. She missed Jane a lot today and Jane was going to stay the night at Korsak's and Angela would be at her house. The wedding was tomorrow and Maura had been pretty anxious but excited. She was glad that both of her mothers were going to be there a day she never thought would come. They had seemed to get along pretty well and very involved in their daughter's life again.
The twins were excited that they were going to be a part of the wedding, they were pretty much like family to Jane and Maura now. Maura and Jane had invited Camille and the kids to stay at their house while they were away, so Angela didn't have to feel obligated to come over and feed Chad everyday, especially since the doctor had told her she needed to rest more.
Maura was currently in the guest house feeding Chad, Kate and Todd had joined her.
"Are you going to miss us when you and Jane go on your vacation?" Kate asked while handing Chad a strawberry to eat.
Maura smiled and nodded, "Of course I'm going to miss the both of you. You know you guys are very important to me and Jane and I can honestly say that we always miss you both when you aren't around."
"Mama is worried when you guys leave something bad might happen," Kate frowned.
"But the bad man is still in jail, right?" Todd looked up with a matching frown.
"The bad man is safely locked away and there is no way that he will be coming out," Maura tried to reassure them. "Plus you guys will be here watching over the house and Chad while we're gone. This house is pretty safe."
"You promise?" they both asked at once.
Maura nodded, resting her hands on their shoulders, "I usually can't make promises but for you two I think that I can make a exception," she offered them a smile. "So I heard that in September you're going to start school I know it's really far off but Jane and I got you two a little something, I think it'd be okay if I let you have it a little earlier," she told them wanting to change the sad subject into something more lighthearted. Kate and Todd looked at each other before smiling at Maura as she went to go grab something from the closet. She came back with two items in plastic bags handing it to the two kids.
The kids smiled and opened their bags, Kate had gotten a My Little Pony backpack including a pencil pouch and matching lunchbox and Todd had gotten the same thing but the design was Spongebob. "Thank you Maura," they both grinned and gave her a hug. They pulled away as soon as they heard the guest house door open. Camille appeared. "Mama look what Maura and Jane got us for school," Todd grinned.
Camille looked at her kids as she kneeled down and smiled up at Maura, "Did she now? I just came to tell you guys that dinner is ready. How about you two go wash up Angela can help you."
"Yes mama," they responded before running out of the room and back into the house.
"Thanks for cheering them up, it seems like a very impossible task for me to do the last couple of weeks."
Maura smiled, "It's not a problem at all, plus figured Jane and I could do something nice for them since they were so willing to want to be in the wedding."
"I don't know how I can ever repay you and Jane for how nice you've been for me and the kids."
"Don't mention it Camille, we are always more than happy to help when we can. You're like family to us now," Maura replied as they walked back into the house to join the others for dinner.
Korsak and Jane had spent the day together, they had just eaten dinner before they headed to the Dirty Robber for drinks. Tommy had started working there a few days ago making some extra cash when he wasn't working his other job. When Jane and Korsak had gotten to the bar Frost and Frankie were there for a little small gathering of Jane's Bachelorette party, even Crowe was sitting at the bar a beer in his hand.
"Hey Rizzoli, so tomorrow is the big day," Crowe smirked and turned to Tommy. "Give her a drink and put it on my tab."
Jane sat down next to him, "I'm surprised to see you here Crowe," she responded as Tommy slid her a beer.
"He almost begged to be invited to this little get together," Frankie chuckled, sitting on the stool next to Jane. "It's not much but I figured Maura would get mad at us if we got you a stripper for the party plus it's a little inappropriate to have a stripped in the bar here. Plus we don't want Frost to get all flustered," he drank his beer, glancing over at Frost who had stopped to talk to Korsak.
"So you nervous about tomorrow Rizzoli?" Crowe eyed her and Jane shook her head.
"Why should I be nervous about tomorrow? I've been waiting for this day for months," Jane drank down her beer and asked Tommy for another one.
"I hear it's pretty natural to be nervous."
"Like I want to take advice from you, I love Maura and I have nothing to fear," Jane played with the label on her new beer. "Well maybe except the whole proclaiming my love in front of everyone, I mean it's easy to say stuff in front of Maura but over a dozen of people will be there, damn what if I freeze up?" she frowned and rolled her eyes. "Thanks Crowe," she gave him a hard nudge in the ribcage.
"Hey I was just saying what people usually do before people get married, didn't mean to upset you," Crowe rubbed his ribs.
Frost finally walked over to the bar with Korsak, "Hey Jane, I hope he didn't say anything stupid."
"Well of course he did, but he's paying for my drinks tonight, so it's alright," Jane smirked at Crowe and the man knew he made a mistake.
"Tommy, you give Jane the gift yet?" Frost looked to Tommy behind the bar.
"Yeah, I almost forgot," Tommy went to the fridge to go get the box.
"You guys didn't have to give me anything," Jane told them.
"You know that whole wedding thing with having something new, old, borrowed and blue, it's good luck or something, well we're sure you'll enjoy it," Frost explained as the box was handed to her. Jane opened it knowing the box was some kind of pastries.
She looked at the gift with a smirk, "Blue cannolis."
Frost nodded, "Me and your brothers made them, we obviously made them blue, they are newly made and we borrowed your mother's recipe for them. So it's like a three in one kind of thing."
Jane took one out of the box, "Thanks, they smell just as good as Ma makes. So what's the something old thing I get?" she asked and Korsak frowned and rolled his eyes.
"Me, I'm your something old."
"Well I wouldn't say you're that old, but I'm glad you'll be my something old walking me down the aisle," she took a bite of the cannoli. "Shit, these are fucking delicious, giving Ma a run for her money," she shoved the rest in her mouth. "I'm glad you three were able to put aside your differences to make me this tasty gift."
"There's also something else," Tommy went to the fridge and pulled out a tray of Jello shots, they were also blue, Jane's favorite flavor of Jello. "I can't drink since I'm on duty," he slid everyone a shot glass, "But you guys can."
Frankie smirked and nodded, raising up his shot glass, "Here's to Janie and that she and Maura have a long and very happy marriage, there's no doubt about that though. I'm proud of you... hell we all are, you get to marry a very special woman, I'm glad it's you she gets to marry. You both are very lucky indeed."
"I'll drink to that," Jane clinked her shot glass against Frankie's before downing her Jello shot along with the others. "Damn this shit is strong as hell," she grabbed another. "Does anyone else have anything to say?"
"I do but figure I'll keep the other speeches for the wedding reception, especially since I'm the best man," Frost smirked at Jane before grabbing another shot, the others chose not to take another one. "I guess I could say here's to our long friendship and may the years keep coming."
Jane nodded and tapped his glass before they drank the shots a little slower this time.
The next morning came and Jane was laying on Korsak and Angela's couch, her arm over her face, she groaned and heard them talking in the kitchen.
"Vince, why didn't you stop Jane from drinking so much?" Angela frowned, fixing some breakfast. "She looks like hell. She better feel well soon, I don't think Maura wants a hungover Jane at the wedding."
"I didn't make those Jello shots, Tommy did. It's 9 in the morning, and at least her tongue isn't still blue," Korsak tried to reassure her that Jane would be fine.
"Why did she drink so much anyways?"
"I think she was nervous about today, being in front of people showing her romantic side," Korsak sat down and he heard Jane shuffle from the couch. "She's been hungover before right?"
Angela nodded, "A few times but it turned out okay in the end. Last time I remember her hungover was when the Red Sox won the world series that one year."
"Morning Ma," Jane ran a hand through her messy hair. "Can I have some coffee please?" she asked as she sat down.
"Of course sweetie," Angela got a mug down from the cupboard pouring some coffee in it. "Are you going to be okay Janie?"
Jane nodded, holding the cup of warm coffee in her hands, "It's not as bad as you think, this hangover, just need some medicine and I should be as good as new," she took a sip of her coffee. "How was your day with Maura yesterday?"
"It went well. Hope and Constance got along pretty great so that was reassuring for Maura. I could tell that she missed you yesterday, she's so excited for today. And the twins were simply adorable as always, really excited especially since the venue is at the aquarium."
"I missed Maura too, maybe that's why I drank so much and I guess you can say I'm nervous, just little bit," she rubbed her fingers against her temple. "I think I'll go get that medicine now," she got up from the chair and headed to the bathroom.
Angela turned to Korsak with a frown as she plated their breakfast, "She's a mess Vince."
"I'm sorry that I let her drink so much, but I couldn't exactly tell her to stop, you know Jane she doesn't listen very well," Korsak sat down and sighed. "Breakfast smells good by the way."
"Don't try and butter me up," she shook her head.
Jane had finally felt better a few hours later, she was able to hold down her lunch which was better after she threw up her breakfast. Her nerves were finally calmed down Angela wasn't concerned anymore.
Maura was already at the aquarium to make sure everything was set up the way that it should be. The twins and Camille were there with her helping, plus they thought they could look at the fish while they waited to get dressed, Camille thought they should get ready closer to the wedding so they wouldn't mess up their outfits. The wedding party was to wear a lavender color, when looking at other colors none of them seemed to flow well.
Soon enough everyone who was sent invitations started coming along with the people in the wedding. Frost had come with Frankie they had a short day at work, pretty uneventful. "Hey Maura," Frankie greeted, tugging on his bowtie. "Thanks for giving me the opportunity to officiate for you."
Maura turned to Frankie and nodded, "It's not a problem I'm quite interested in what you have to say," she looked at the time. "I should go get ready now," she mentioned before leaving to find Camille who was going to help her with hair and makeup.
Frost shoved his hands in his pants pockets, "I wonder where Jane, Korsak and Angela are at? Would be pretty shitty if Jane was late to her own wedding. Even Tommy is accounted for, he's supposedly helping wrangle up the twins with Cailin."
Korsak ended up coming over to them moments later, "Hey Frankie, Frost."
"Where's Jane?" Frost asked curious of her whereabouts. "Is she doing alright?"
"Yeah she's as good as she could be, she was pretty hungover this morning, but she was able to hold down her lunch after the disaster that was breakfast this morning. Actually Frost, she wants to talk to you, I think the nerves Crowe mentioned are getting to her. You are the best man after all, she's in my car," Korsak smiled.
"I'll go try to calm her down," Frost patted Korsak's back and turned to Frankie, "Wish me luck?"
Frankie laughed, "Good luck," he gave him a nod before Frost went outside to the parking lot he spotted Korsak's car and walked over.
He tapped on the backseat window, "Jane it's me Frost."
Jane rolled her eyes and opened the door, "Frost it's a window I can see that it's you obviously, come in," she scooted over and let him in the car.
Frost took in Jane's appearance and smiled, "You look alright to me, I never thought I'd see the day you were in a wedding dress. So how long do you plan on hiding out here?"
"You know how amazing it is that this dress came equipped with pockets? I'm not hiding Frost, I'm actually doing something very important," she handed him a piece of paper. "Getting the final touches on my vows, this is like the most important thing I have to get through today, I've been working on it all week. Do you know how hard it is to form words?"
Frost looked it over, reading her vows and handing it back when he finished reading them, "Jane that was beautiful, this almost made me cry, never heard you speak so heart-felt before."
"You really think that I did a good job, and am I totally lame for writing it down?" she asked, rubbing the back of her neck.
"Not at all, it's good to write your thoughts down, I'm sure that Maura would love anything you have to say in your vows. No need to be nervous plus if you get choked up they'll just see that you have emotions," he rested his hand on her knee. "You got this, I believe in you."
Jane smirked and nudged his shoulder with hers, "This is exactly why you are my best man, you always know what to say. So how is Maura doing assuming you seen her in there."
"She's definitely ready to marry you that's for sure."
"Good because I think I'm finally really ready," she put the vows in her pocket. "Ten minutes till showtime."
Once Maura had gotten done getting ready it was a few minutes before the wedding was to start, when she was about to leave the changing room she got a phone call from an unknown number. Maura sighed, she'd have to tell them to call back later. When she picked up she couldn't speak before hearing Paddy's voice on the phone, and she froze she didn't expect him to do more than just email her. "Maura, I hope I'm not interrupting I guess I'm not if you picked up the phone."
"Yeah it's not the best time, I'm about to get married to Jane."
"That's kind of what I'm calling for. I hate that I have to miss the day you get married, I just really wanted to wish you well and let you know that there isn't a day that I don't think of you. I'm so proud of you."
Maura nodded, "I am really surprised that I'm hearing from you, believe it or not I really miss you."
"I know and I wish I could walk you down the aisle, I assume both of your mothers plan on walking you down?"
"Yeah, surprised they both wanted to be involved but it's a welcome surprise. I should go now Paddy the phone call means a lot, stay safe and out of trouble please?" Maura quietly begged.
"I'm doing such a good job already, go get yourself your wife now. I love you Maura," he told her.
"I love you too, bye," she spoke softly before hanging up the phone and shut it off. Maura left the bathroom and handed Camille her phone, she promised to wait outside until she was ready.
"You ready to get married?" Camille asked, putting the phone in her dress pocket.
Maura offered Camille a smile, "More than you will ever know."
Jane stood near the entrance of the door exiting out to the deck she turned to Korsak who looked up at her with a smirk. "You ready Rizzoli?"
She nodded, "Yes, I think that I am," she linked her arm with his as they walked outside when the music started. Jane wasn't sure if she liked being stared at like this, she sort of felt exposed and nervous as she walked down the aisle, Korsak could feel her arm tighten around his. He patted her hand to silent reassure her she would be okay.
Frankie stood at the podium, he was in awe of how nice Jane was dressed up, he could sense her nervousness from the distance. When she got up to where Frankie was, Korsak smiled at Jane and leaned up to press a kiss against her cheek. "You got this Jane," he gave her a curt nod before walking over to stand next to Angela in the front.
Jane smiled nervously and watched as Cailin and Frost walk up since they were maid of honor and best man. The build up to seeing Maura was causing Jane agony, she was anxious to see her bride at this point, take the eyes off of her for a bit. Frost came to take his place slightly behind Jane and Cailin took the other side where she would be behind Maura. Next Tommy and Camille came down to stand by Frost and Cailin.
Maura was behind Kate and Todd still inside the aquarium, she kneeled down next to them, "You guys ready?" she fixed the purple bow on top of Kate's head.
They both nodded, "Yes we are Maura," Kate held onto her basket with the flowers since she was the flower girl. Maura stood up as she heard the change in the music.
"Time to go," Maura rested her hands on their backs, as Kate linked her arm with her brother's and walked out of the door, looking back at Maura with a smile. Once they left both Hope and Constance each took a side of Maura.
"You're so good with kids," Constance complimented.
"Nows not the time to compliment that," Hope added giving the other woman a knowing look. "Let's go give our daughter away," she held out her arm for Maura to take which she did, and Constance followed suit before they exited the building, Kate and Todd just got up front and took their place next to their mother.
The moment Maura was seen by Jane entering onto the deck, she felt like her knees were about to give way. Maura looked absolutely beautiful, she had managed to take Jane's breath away. Maura eyes locked onto Jane's and gave her a bright smile.
Jane licked her lips, shifting slightly the closer Maura had gotten to the front, both girls felt their hearts beating more than normal both never leaving each other's eyes. As Maura stopped before Jane, both Constance and Hope kissed her cheek and pulled away from Maura's arms before going to sit on the other side of the aisle.
Maura stepped in front of Jane, not before giving her kiss a cheek, "You look breathtaking Jane."
"So do you Maura, moreso than usual," she gave her hands a squeeze before pulling away.
Frankie smiled brightly at his sister and Maura, before he looked out at everybody on the deck as everyone took their seats. "We are gathered here to celebrate the love of my sister Jane Rizzoli and her lovely bride Maura Isles. It is a very special occasion, a day we didn't think would come but it finally did and I'm sure we are all excited about this union. We can all agree that this woman has changed my sister's life in many ways. I am proud to be the one officiating the wedding because who better than the one person who always looks up to his little sister. There is nobody in the world more perfect for each other than these two right here and we can see a long and happy marriage between the two, since love between two best friends is probably the best love anyone could ever go through, it's sometimes hard to find but here we are," he smiled at Jane and Maura. "I'm so happy for the both of you, there's no doubt in my mind that you two are in it for forever. I'm proud of you both. Now it's time for the vows, I heard that you both have written your own," he looked at them and they nodded.
Jane felt Frost pat her on the back, she decided not to take the paper out of her pocket, "Maura, first I just want to say that I am so glad to be standing in front of you today. I must admit that I have been nervous the past 24 hours knowing that I am totally going to expose myself and the romantic side not many people have had the pleasure of interacting with. But as I stand here right in this moment, I can ignore everyone out there and just focus on the words I have been rearranging in my head and on paper, when I look at you I feel calm and pretty invincible," Jane stepped closer to Maura and grabbed onto her hands. "When you came into my life I never imagined that you would end up being the most important person to me. I never dreamed of the day where I would fall in love with my best friend, I hid those feelings for so long and when I finally acted on them I was scared, but you helped me get through that fear. I didn't know that I could love someone as much as I love you and I held onto that love even though it was hard to believe that I could share those strong emotions with someone I trust more than anything in this world. I'm glad that we are doing this, and honestly it still surprises me that someone as amazing as you wants to love me until the end of time. I vow to you that I am going to do everything I can to make that happen, to always protect you and love you as much as you love me," she squeezed her fingers. "You mean more to me than you'll ever know, you are more than just my best friend, you are my soulmate and I am going to be the best wife I can be to you. I love you Maura Isles, and I promise that I am not going anywhere, you have me for life and even in death we shall never truly part," Jane ended with tears glistening in her eyes, she wanted to kiss Maura right then but she knew she needed to wait, it was going to be a challenge indeed, especially when Maura started her vows, tears in her own eyes at Jane's words.
Maura smiled at Jane, "I am more than glad to be the one who opened you up more Jane, we both opened each other up in more than one way if I'm being completely honest. We both went through our lives and had our fair share of men that we dated or were interested in, but no matter how that went we always had each other and that love and support is what brought us here today. We've had our challenges like other couples but there's no one I feel more compatible with than with you. You love me for who I am and that kind of love I didn't quite understand growing up. You taught me a lot of things in our friendship and I have always been proud to call you my best friend and now we are going to be more than that, we are going to be each other's wives and that brings me more joy than anything else in this world. I am grateful for everyday that you are in my life and I can't wait to spend eternity with you," she paused for a moment feeling her eyes fill with tears. "You saved my life so many times Jane and there's is no greater love than what we share for each other. I vow to be the best wife that I can be and I know I can be difficult sometimes but you are always there for me, just as I am for you. I love you Jane Rizzoli and there's no place I'd rather be than by your side until forever. You are my light and my soul mate and I'd rather die than spend any of my life without you and I know that you feel the same way. I never believed in the happily ever after stuff, but with you I know that anything is possible as long as we stick it out together and there isn't a single doubt in my mind that our love for each other will ever fade. I am always going to love you and no one else, this I vow to you," she squeezed Jane's hands and Jane nodded, wiping away her tears that fell down her cheeks before reaching over and wiping Maura's away.
Frankie smiled at the wedding party and then to Jane and Maura, "Now that you have shared your vows, beautifully done by the way, it's time for the rings."
Todd looked up at Camille who gave him a warm smile and then to Jane and Maura before stepping over to them, holding the rings out on a pillow.
Jane took the ring for Maura and her hand sliding it onto her finger, "I give you this ring as a sign of our love for and commitment to each other. I promise to support you, care for you, and stand alongside you for all of our days."
Maura smiled enjoying the feeling of Jane sliding on the ring, she took the other one from Todd and did the same, "I give you this ring as a sign of our love for and commitment to each other. I promise to support you, care for you, and stand alongside you for all of our days."
Todd moved back near his mother with a smile before Frankie spoke. "By the power invested in me, and the opportunity of officiating this wedding thanks to a legal online service, I now pronounce you Jane and Maura wife and wife," Frankie grinned. "You may now kiss the bride."
Jane stepped closely to Maura and leaned down pressing her lips against hers spftly. yet passionately at the same time as to ignore the claps of the guests and wedding party. Maura rested her hand on Jane's cheek before pulling back, grabbing hold of Jane by the arm. "Shall we?" Maura asked with a bright smile, one that always managed to take Jane's breath away.
"We shall," Jane smirked as they walked down the aisle, arm in arm as they entered back inside the building. "You know that was easier than I thought it would be."
"You did great Jane," Maura leaned up to press her lips back against Jane's. They pulled back a moment later and smiled at each other.
"Can we just skip the reception?" Jane asked, noticing Maura's cheeks flush.
"I never thought Jane Rizzoli would ever turn down a chance to eat," she replied just as Todd and Kate approached them.
"That was beautiful," Kate gave them a toothy grin and Todd nodded his head in agreement.
"You both look like angels," he moved over to them to give them a hug. "Thanks for letting me be included."
"It was not a problem at all," Jane patted his head after he pulled back from the hug. "You both look pretty snazzy."
"It's almost time for cake right?" he asked and Maura and Jane looked at each other.
"That's what he's been asking me all day for cake," Camille came up her arm linked with Cailin's. "Congratulations. You guys were great up there."
Cailin nodded her head in agreement, "Honestly the best wedding I've ever been too, you kind of are inspirational I kind of have hopes of being married one day," she gave her sister and Jane a hug. "Welcome to the family Jane. I'm so happy for the both of you."
"Thanks, it means a lot to me," Jane nodded and rolled her eyes at how fast Angela had come to approach them, she watched as Maura was pulled into a hug with her mother.
"Welcome to the family Maura, I'm so happy for you both right now," she smiled, tears in her eyes.
"Ma! You're going to squeeze her to death," Jane looked at her and her wife. Angela pulled away.
"I'm sorry Janie, just a little excited is all," Angela gave Jane a side hug. "You both look great."
"Thanks Ma, well I should get my wife settled at the table, I got hungry all of a sudden," she kissed her mother's cheek before linking her arm with Maura's again wanting to get away before the others came inside. "I could get used to calling you my wife."
"The feeling is more than mutual, it definitely is nice to hear," Maura kissed Jane's cheek. "I have you as my wife and I couldn't be happier."
