Chapter 30

Louisa's point of view

It was Friday. I was dusting the furniture in Will's room at around 2:30 pm. I already wiped all the windows with the cleaning spray that Kate gave me. I was wondering what I would do on Saturday considering I did not have any boyfriend.

I bought two tickets for a horse-racing competition. I tried to convince my sister Treena to accompany me but she flat out turned down the offer. Now, I was faced with the dilemma of going there alone with one ticket being potentially wasted. Why Treena couldn't go anywhere with me when I wanted was beyond my comprehension.

The door bell rang. I heard Kate open the door at around 2:45pm. The stomping of hurried footsteps caused me to look at an exhausted Will wearing a white linen shirt and a grey coat carrying a grey suitcase and a black bag standing a few inches away from me. He put his luggage at the foot of his bed.

"Hello," I greeted him; waving my right-hand and holding the dusting piece of cloth in my left-hand.

"Hi," he replied, casually tilting his head to one side.

"I will be staying here till Sunday, " he informed me, taking off his grey coat and putting it on his bed.

"Good, " I said.

The idea that I could take Will on a surprise visit to the horse racing competition struck me like a thunderbolt at this very moment on this Saturday. I wasted no time asking him,

"Will you go somewhere with me tomorrow?"

"Where?" Will asked me, raising his dark lush eyebrows.

"That is a secret, " I told him, gesturing my hands in a manner that told him I couldn't tell him the truth.

"Why would I go?" lifting his stormy eyes in an inquiry.

"Because you made me watch a French movie with subtitles I had no interest in at first, " I countered, grinning at him.

"But you ended up loving it if I am not mistaken, " I responded; the right corner of his mouth quirking upwards.

"Okay I will come if you want me to, " he conceded, giving me an earnest smile this time.
