Lessons In Love: Chapter Sixty-One: Fire in Your New Shoes (Part 5)

Well, fancy that. The graduation ceremony was over, and the small group was heading off toward their rooms.

Stephen headed out first, with Victor.

Tony watched them leave. Whatever thoughts he had about that were interrupted, because Steve quietly asked if he could walk Tony to his room. Tony said yes, of course, and the two of them slowly walked through the quiet halls.

Tony felt like he wasn't going to see Steve for a week. He kept his thoughts on that to himself as they made their way toward the room.

Steve thought about asking him about his first flight. The suit was amazing and he was glad to see it as it was being put together. Steve was going to compliment him when they reached the door.

"Do you know how you want to spend your week off?"

Steve had to ask. He gave Tony a warm smile, and the brunette appeared a little unsure. He kept his eyes locked onto that clean shirt, and he started thinking about his answer.

An answer filled his mind, and it made him feel a little bit better. His mood had been on the side of doomsday for a few hours. He smiled at Steve and responded.

"I plan to spend some time with my parents. I thought they were dead before all of this, so.."

Tony tried not to think about their date. He declared it to be his favorite day, and he really meant that. Steve liked Tony's response and he brought something out of his pocket.

After he responded to Bucky's message on the transmitter, he immediately thought about Tony. So, when he had a moment, he wrote him a letter.

Steve Rogers handed Tony a hand-written letter and told him that he would see him in a week. Tony closed his eyes when that golden thing kissed his lips.

Tony wanted to feel him so badly. He smiled against him, and leaned into it for as long as he could. The brunette returned his kiss, and he held the letter in his hand.

Tony even gripped onto that clean shirt. He held on for as long as he could, but that sunshine stepped away. Steve gave Tony a gentle kiss on the forehead, and told him to enjoy his week.

Tony's young heart was relentless. It felt out of control as he looked down at the letter in his hand. Tony decided that he couldn't read it. He needed to ignore it, and read it when he didn't feel as amped up.

Tony put the letter in his front pocket as Steve made it to his own room. The would-be-soldier gathered up some of his things, and then he sent a message to Bucky over the transmitter.

Tony kept standing by the door. He was spaced out and staring.. He didn't notice that Stephen had headed in his direction. The sorcerer-in-training had a few questions. Victor was getting ready to go, and the brothers had to be sure about some...stuff.

Stephen didn't see Steve at all. He walked toward Tony's room and he saw the brunette standing alone. He looked very lost in space. Tony looked out of it, and Stephen mentioned his name.

Tony quickly looked up. He saw Stephen standing several feet in front of him, and the brunette immediately swallowed hard.

"HEY. You caught me. I was.. spaced."

Tony felt a little stupid. He held onto the letter in his pocket, and it felt like his face was on fire. Stephen could see how warm his face looked.

The younger Stephen glanced down at Tony's shoes and he started getting to his point.

"I wasn't sure if, you still needed a ride? We were taking you home..and everyone has a bunch of stuff, in the trunk. Victor and I are going back to my car.."

Stephen wasn't sure about any of that. They were eating breakfast at a diner, and then all of a sudden they were in that mess. Oh right, he got pissed off at Bucky.

Stephen remembered how it all happened. It was technically all his fault, but whatever.

"I could still take you Tony. You could still join us, if you want?"

It was still a long drive, but Stephen was still willing to do it. He had a few other things that he needed to accomplish, but getting Tony home was still one of those things.

Tony didn't answer him. He was still dazed and thinking about Steve's yummy kiss. He hadn't really processed what Stephen was saying to him at all. He got to the part about them taking him home.

"OH. Right. We were going, well I can fly now."

Right. He could fly now. Stephen heard him, and he slowly started to nod his head. He wasn't sure if Tony had really heard what he said. He awkwardly stepped to his right and tried again.

"So, did you guys just want your stuff then? Or..."

What? It seemed like everyone was going in separate directions. Stephen didn't technically expect it, but he wasn't surprised.

The would-be-sorcerer looked over toward Steve's room. It looked vacated over in that direction, and the blonde was obviously not anywhere near Tony's room.

"Crap. Sorry. I can go with you."

Tony finally registered all the words. He brought his hand out of that front pocket and he took a step in Stephen's direction. He definitely wanted to get a ride home from Stephen.

Tony figured that was the perfect way to break the ice with him. His smile was pretty big and Stephen's eyebrow slowly arched upward.

"But, you can fly now."

"I can. But, I want to go with you."

Stephen took in a slow breath and he studied Tony's face. He was a little confused about the whole Steve and Tony ...thing. But, then again, he wondered why he gave that any thought.

That was their business. He told himself that he was just giving Tony a ride home. There was nothing more to it, so..

"Ok. Well, we're leaving tonight. Let us know when you're ready."

Stephen didn't wait for a response. He turned away from Tony, then he headed back toward his room.
