Chapter 30

The newlyweds had a wonderful time in Mexico, but sadly, it was time to head back to Seattle. Their cab pulled up to their apartment building and the cabbie set their luggage on the sidewalk. They paid the kind old man and started walking into the building. Someone's loud laughter made them turn around before they could reach the door. In front of Joe's was a woman that was hanging off of a man. She was clearly extremely drunk and louder than she needed to be. The woman threw her arms around the man's neck and kissed him deeply. His hands moved down to cup her ass. They shifted slightly while kissing and when they pulled back, Callie and Arizona dropped their luggage in disbelief. It was Amber and the man she was kissing was not her husband. The loud noise from the suitcases pulled Amber's attention away from the man. Callie and Arizona quickly ran across the street.

'Amber what the fuck?' Arizona yelled.

'If it..if it isn't the happy c-couple?' Amber said in her drunken state. 'I usedta be happy. Come on RRRRyan…Reggie. Whoever you are. I want to fuck.' Amber started pulling the man away and down the street.

'Oh no no no. Amber, you are coming with us. Where's Tyler? Where are the kids.' Callie asked pulling the woman back.

'Mer has the kids. Tyler can fuck offfff. Get off me Callie. I wanna go with RyanReggie.' Amber swayed and could barely keep her footing.

'No. You are coming inside the apartment.' Callie gripped the woman firmer and pulled them back across the street.

Amber looked back over her shoulder. 'Call me RyanReggie!' she yelled back to the man.

Arizona walked silently back across the street with her arms crossed. She was fuming. She picked up the suitcases and went into the building. She did not say anything as they made their way up the elevator and into the apartment. She opened the door and set the suitcases down in the living room. Callie, practically dragging the drunk woman in behind her. Arizona turned back around and grabbed Amber by the arm forcefully dragging her to the couch and shoved her down onto it.

'Again I will ask… what the fuck?' Arizona yelled at the drunk woman.

Amber sat on the couch and could tell that she was about to be sick. She got up and stumbled her way into the bathroom and fell into the toilet emptying the contents of her stomach. Callie was behind her to hold her hair. She grabbed a towel from the counter and handed it to Amber once she was sat back against the tub.

'Tell me what happened Amber.' Callie said softly. It had been a very long time since Amber had been this drunk. She knew something terrible had to have happened between her and Tyler.

'I…I can't.' Amber whispered sobering up just a bit. 'I have to go home.'

'No, you are not going home. You will stay here and we will talk about what happened. I'll get you some water and you can sleep it off, but we are going to talk. This isn't like you.' Callie said. She pulled her friend off of the floor and guided her to the spare room. Amber flopped down on the bed and had silent tears streaming down her face. Callie grabbed her a cup of water. Arizona was still pacing in the living room. Callie walked over to her wife. 'Something happened Arizona. Something big. Amber hasn't been like this since med school. We are going to talk to her in the morning. Just try to calm down, ok.' Callie kissed her wife and brought the glass of water to her friend. Amber had already passed out on the bed. Callie left the glass on the nightstand and closed the door.

Arizona had made her way into the bedroom and sat on the bed. She couldn't believe it. She saw it first hand. Amber was kissing another man. A man that was definitely not her husband. They had two kids together and a seemingly good marriage. She couldn't figure out the sudden change. Callie came in and saw her wife sitting on the bed. 'She's passed out. We'll talk to her in the morning.' Callie said again. They got themselves ready for bed and fell asleep eventually with their minds still wondering what the hell happened.

When they woke the next morning, they made their way out of the bedroom and poked their heads into the spare room. They found that Amber was already gone. 'What do we do now Calliope?' Arizona asked.

'She probably went home. Let's get ready and ride over there.' Callie said. They got themselves together and hopped in their car and made their way over to Amber's house. They pulled in the driveway and knocked on the door. There was no answer so they knocked again.

'FUCK OFF TYLER. GO AWAY!' Amber yelled from the other side of the door.

'Amber, Sweetie, it's us. Open the door.' Callie called out.

Amber slowly opened the door. She was still wearing the outfit from the previous night. Her eyes were puffy and practically swollen shut from crying. She stepped to the side and allowed the women to come in. When they walked into the house, their eyes widened in surprise. The house was a disaster. Lamps were broken and lying on their sides, picture frames were thrown all over. There was paper scattered everywhere.

'What the hell happened here? Were you robbed?' Arizona asked. She looked around. Nothing seemed to be missing.

'No. We weren't robbed.' Amber said softly. 'I did this a few days ago.'

'Why?' Callie asked.

'Clear a spot on the couch and sit down. I'll tell you everything. It's only a matter of time before you find out anyway.' Amber said.

After scooting everything out of their way to sit down, Amber took a deep breath and started telling her story.

Flashback

'Robbins, good to have you back. How are you feeling?' Chief Webber asked Amber.

'I'm feeling great, sir. Ready to work.'

'Wonderful to hear. Today we are going to have you work in the skills lab and tomorrow I want you to report to Mercy West. They are not as busy and it will be a good way for you to get reacquainted with the ER.' Webber said.

'Yes sir. I understand.' Amber said.

'Great to have you back Robbins.' With that, Amber stood and left the Chief's office and headed down to the skills lab. She wasn't mad to not actually be back to work. She had been out for three months after the accident and her cutting skills were probably a little rusty.

After spending the day in the skills lab, she grabbed her kids from daycare and headed home. Tyler was out of town working.

The next day after dropping the kids off at Mercy West's daycare, she went to the Chief's office to get clearance for the day. She was assigned to work with Lexie. She only got lost once heading down to the ER to find Lexie so she could get started for the day. When she reached the ER, a woman with pink dreads and a lip ring greeted her. 'Hey, you Amber?'

'Yeah, I'm Amber,' she replied.

'Cool, I'm Lexie. Let me show you around.' Lexie spent some time showing Amber how Mercy West operated in areas. 'This will be your area today. You will be in charge of these three beds today.' she said pointing to the marked area in front of them. Amber nodded in understanding.

The day was running smoothly. She had just gotten back from lunch and was met with a small child screaming. It was coming from a bed in her area so she gloved up and pulled the curtain back. There was a little boy who looked to be close to two years old on the bed. His mother was doing her best to calm down the small child.

'Hey hey hey little buddy. What's wrong?' Amber asked the little boy as she squatted down to his level. The little boy stopped crying to look at the stranger that was talking to him. He pointed to his arm that he was favoring.

'We think it's broken. He was playing a little rough this morning and fell off of the couch.' his mother explained.

'Well, we can fix that right up. I'm Dr. Amber. What's your name little guy?' Amber asked while gently taking the boys arm in her hands.

'I Jared. I two.' he said holding two fingers up.

'Jared we are going to have you good as new in just a little bit, ok buddy? You have some really pretty blue eyes. Has anyone ever told you that? My kids have blue eyes too.'

'Cool!' Jared said, already forgetting about the pain he was in. Just then the curtain was pulled back. 'Dada!' Jared screamed.

Amber turned around and her eyes widened. 'Tyler?'

End of flashback

When Amber finished telling her story, she was a sobbing mess on the couch. 'He has a fucking other kid.' she yelled. Callie moved to her friend's side and wrapped her in a hug. She rubbed her hand up and down her's friend's back. Arizona sat there silently for the longest time.

'Um, what?' she asked finally.

'Apparently, he has a whole other fucking family. He's been seeing the boy's mom for years. And the little boy is two. Two fucking years old! He was born right before we got married.' Amber couldn't control the sobbing. She was a blubbering mess.

'Oh my God, Amber. I am so sorry. I don't know what to do.' Callie said.

'What the fuck can you do? All these years he kept telling me how much he loved the fact that he could trust me and I was so loyal and blah fucking blah. I trusted him. I fucking trusted him!'

'Where is he now?' Arizona asked.

'Probably with Liza and Jared. Fucking Liza. What kind of name is that?'

'And you never suspected anything?' Callie asked.

'I was starting to notice money was missing or his checks weren't quite as much lately. He said that he had some repairs that needed to be made on the truck when I asked him about it. There were a few times when I had called and he said that he was stuck somewhere and couldn't make it home when he was supposed to. Looking back, maybe I should have been a little more suspicious.' Amber said.

'He seemed like such a good man. He was always raving about you and the kids when I talked to him. I cannot believe this!' Arizona said.

'I asked Meredith if she would keep the kids for a few days. I didn't give her many details, but it seemed like she knew anyway. I made quite the scene at Mercy West. News travels fast. I've just kept my head down at work and haven't said much to anyone. I was at the bar drinking last night, just trying to forget my pain. I guess I should thank you for saving me from doing something really stupid.' Amber said. 'Sorry to ruin your honeymoon. You guys can go enjoy yourself. I'll just wallow here in my misery and mess.'

'You did quite a number on the house. I can understand why. How about we order pizza and get the house back in order? Then we will get the kids from Mer and have a great night. The five of us. We brought back gifts!' Callie suggested squeezing her friend a little tighter.

'No really, you guys enjoy yourselves. I'll be ok.'

'There will be no arguing Amber. We are staying here tonight.' Arizona chimed in.

'Ok.' Amber said finally giving in. 'As long as we talk about the fact that Callie's pregnant.'

'How the hell did you know that?' Callie asked.

'Callie in all the years we have known each other, you celebrate something great with tequila. The day before your wedding, when I thought we were going out to celebrate, you ordered a water. Plus…' Amber trailed off.

'Plus?' Callie encouraged.

'Well…' Amber stalled. 'Your boobs are kinda huge. Bigger than they were. Not that I look, but well, they were definitely on display in that wedding dress.' she said causing the other women to burst out in laughter.

'You're right Amber. She is pregnant. Stop staring at my wife's boobs!' Arizona said.

'They're good boobs!' Amber argued.

Woah. Thanks for reading. Until next time...
