The time had finally arrived and I could feel my heart racing. I was marrying Damon, again. We had been torn apart only to be brought back together again 145 years later. To make it better, the babies we'd once loss before they could even have a chance were with us again. I knew in my heart that this time we would get our fairytale ending. The Prince of the Woods and his Princess of Dreams, his Snowflake, would welcome their own little princes or princesses. Their family would be whole and larger than ever and if anyone got in the way of that my claws would rip through their flesh to tear at their heart and my wings would free from my back to separate their head before her magic would burn them to ash for the wind to scatter.
Knock Knock
The door opened and he stood there a moment. "Ready to walk down the aisle, Mom?" She looks at him with a soft smile before turning to grab her bouquet of wildflowers so similar to one she had made herself when they first married. "Do I need to bring the car around for a quick getaway?" He asks when I don't respond right away and I let out a small giggle.
"Today's my wedding day. The only thing I need is for you and Matty to walk me to my happily ever after, Jere-bear." I say before pressing a kiss to his cheek and smile widely when pulling back.
"I have a kiss mark don't I?" He asks her with an upward twitch of his lips as he tries to be serious and I can't help the burst of laughter that escapes me as I nod.
"Not cool." Jeremy says as he walks into the room and looks into the room. "It's so bright too!" I laugh even louder before moving to the vanity for a wipe, placing the bouquet back down, and gently remove the lipstick from his cheek. "We can still make a break for it." I smile and give a small shake of my head before cupping his cheeks in my hands already knowing his reason.
"No matter who comes into our lives, you are never going to lose me. I will be here to the very end, no matter what. From the moment I saw you, you were mine, and nothing will ever change that. Not for you or Matty or Vicki. You're not losing me, our family is just getting bigger."
"I love you, Mom." He says as he pulls me into a hug.
"I love you too. And I love the two of you just as much." I say turning to the door, having sensed Matt and Vicki. The two rush in and hug us as well.
"God, why do you have to give me the feels." Vicki lets out a watery laugh, tears at the corner of her eyes.
"Hey look out, Vick is gonna start melting." Matt warns teasingly.
"Shut up you dork."
"My babies." I say with a roll of my eyes.
"Mom!/ I'm not a baby!/ We're not babies!" they shout and I just smile at them.
"Damon asked me to give you this. He said it was your something old." Vicki says as she grabs a box from outside the room.
No POV
There at the steps leading up to the alter he stood waiting. First came Caroline Forbes with his brother, a bridesmaid and groomsman. Next was Jenna Sommers and Lorenzo, their maid of honor and best man. Just after they turned to face the church doors she came into view. Matt at her left while Jeremy stood at her right. He was breathless as he watched them making their way towards him, eyes locked to his once and future wife. The sunlight through the church's stained glass windows hitting her just right so that she glowed. He couldn't help the tear that slipped from him and he saw that one had escaped her too as she smiled brightly at him. He knew he was probably smiling just as wide. He took in every little perfect detail of her and her perfectly imperfect flaws from the smooth dark curls to the small dimple near the corner of her mouth, committing it all to memory.
After what felt like the longest moment of his life she was finally within his reach and he took her hands in his after brushing a loose curl back in place, careful of the delicate lace mantilla he'd managed to keep safe since their first wedding despite how time had tried to ravage it until he'd found a witch to preserve it. He couldn't take his eyes off her, until the priest gave a not so subtle cough that had them both look towards him only to receive a pointed look themselves that sent soft chuckles throughout the church. "Your vows."
"Right." He cleared his throat and turned to his beautiful Amelia and began the modified vows he'd once told her as they had agreed upon. "Amelia Lucinda Maxwell-Gilbert, you walk into a room and its like the sun never shined until that moment. You can take what are the worst of days of my life and turn it around to make me feel like they're the best. When I look at you, I see hope. Hope for a better tomorrow because with you I know I have all the happiness in the world at the tips of my fingers. With you, I have everything I thought I never would and so much more."
"I once told you about the stories of dream fairies my mom would tell me as a little boy. About how dream fairies were angels that came when we slept to make sure all our good dreams came true and take any nightmares away. I told you, that you're my Princess of Dreams because from the very first time I saw the sun shining down on you, just you and those big eyes looking at me I thought you were those stories coming alive."
"You're my best friend, you understand and accept me as I am, in a way no one else ever has and that I whole heartedly believe no one else can. You make me want to be a better man, to strive for it. So, I vow to you that I will love you without reservation or conditions. I vow to always give more than I take. I vow we will be partners to the day the world ends and in whatever comes after. I vow that my heart is yours and yours alone. I vow that I will be a man worthy of you, the husband you deserve, faithful and true. Today I take you as my wife for who you are, who you have been, and who you are yet to be. I love you, Today and for Always."
Staring into his eyes as he makes those oh so familiar vows she can't help the tears of joy that slide down her cheeks. She smiles as he finishes reciting them and begins her own.
"Damon Giuseppe Salvatore, when we met I knew it was the start of something incredible. You've taught me what it is to have the truest and closest of friends and after today I will be one of far to few who can say they have married their best friend, their soulmate. The love I have for you can't ever be defined by words because there are no words in any language that could encompass all you make me feel. So let's define it by the time we will spend together, by everyday until our last day."
"When I am with you, I feel safer then I ever have before. Everything in me recognizes you as home. I believe in you, in the person you have been, will grow to be, the family we will be together, and the family we already are." She says taking a moment to look at her adopted children blowing them a kiss before looking back at his smiling face. "I promise to be supportive and that our family's love and happiness will be my priority always. Seeing you smile, truly smiling and not one of those smirks that drives me crazy, is one of the greatest joys in my life. I promise to do everything I possibly can to keep you smiling, to fill our lives with as much laughter and happiness as possible. With my whole heart, I take you as my husband knowing and accepting your strengths and faults, as you do mine."
"I will dream with you, celebrate with you, and walk at your side through whatever this world and the next brings. You are my love and my life and with you I have my soulmate. So I can tell you with absolute certainty that I did, I do, and I will always choose you. I love you, Today and for Always."
"After this I doubt there is any question of it but I must ask. Do you Damon Giuseppe Salvatore take Amelia Lucina Maxwell-Gilbert to be your wedded wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?"
"I do." Damon says as he slides the ring he had carried with him for 145 years back onto her finger.
"And do you Amelia Lucina Maxwell-Gilbert take Damon Giuseppe Salvatore to be your wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?"
"I do."
"Then by the power vested in me I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride."
It was later that night after the reception that they were making their way to the Salvatore house while Jenna would stay with the others at the house.
Damon swept her up into his arms and gave a spin in the driveway, both of them laughing freely as he made his way up the steps to carry her over the threshold.
"Hello again, Amelia." Came the deep familiar voice that haunted her dreams, filled with such longing and sorrow. Damon set her down and turned to face the tall man he recognized from the church.
"Who the hell are you?" He snarled.
"Elijah." Amelia softly called his name in surprise and heartache as she moved out from behind Damon.
"This is Elijah?"
"I believe the term you're looking for is OMG."
