Hermione jumped as the teacup fell to the floor and shattered running out into the living room where Ron was now standing pale as a sheet. "Have you seen the paper this morning? It's Godrics Hollow. Someone went on a murderous rampage killing loads of animal and then put deer blood on Harry's grave! Who in the hell would do that? I've still not worked out how I feel about his death and then some cruel sadistic creep does this! What in the name of Merlin is wrong with people? I hope whoever it was they get some serious Azkaban time!" he snapped as her eyes went to his and tears filled them at the extreme loathing and disgust she could see in them. He hated her and thought she should have time in Azkaban! He didn't know it had been her. He didn't even know it when they'd fucked like rabbits last night. She had been so turned on by her mass slaughtering of wild animals that she'd insisted they go three times in the one night.
She was totally and utterly opposed to killing humans for now at least but seriously got off on killing or hurting animals. It made no sense really but she was snapped back into reality as she found herself suddenly in the arms of a shaking Ron who was bawling crying. What the fuck was she supposed to do now? She was so unused to ever seeing him like this.
"What am I going to do now Herms? He is gone and he isn't coming back! He was a jackass at times but so was I. I mean we butt heads a lot and didn't really understand each other all that well. We came from different worlds and could never understand each other properly. I'm so sorry! I miss him so much!" he said as floods of tears wracked his system. She awkwardly patted his back not knowing why he was suddenly so upset about it. I mean he'd had a few weeks to come to terms with it and quite frankly his sadness now was annoying to her. She wasn't sad she was mad and those two emotions did not go well together.
"Well Ron it's a Saturday and I'd suggest you take a little nap. You probably need one after all. Don't worry sweetheart it'll be fine soon!" she said patting his back as he smiled at her a nice but watery smile.
"You are probably right. A nap does sound nice. I'm sorry about the cup. I know it scared you when it fell. Repairo! I love you sweet wife!" he said suddenly more tender with her then he'd been in ages.
"I love you too husband!" she said just as sincerely. She truly did adore and love him more than anything in the whole world. She couldn't help the rage she felt at Harry though. She truly did hate him for always thinking the best of or trusting everyone who always did him harm such as Sirius fucking Black. One could but hope that son of a bitch was burning in hell for causing Harry's death. No matter what anyone ever said to her; her mind would not budge on the matter. He was responsible for the death of Harry no matter what way you looked at it. Why was Harry always such an emotional sap? She got an idea and ran into their bedroom where Ron was changing into his pyjamas for bed where he would take his much needed nap. She reached into her trunk and routed around eventually pulling on the black book she needed. She flipped it open quickly turning pages and looking for the address she needed. She found it and smiled as she bid Ron goodnight telling him she was going studying at school which made him roll his eyes. She wasn't of course it had just been what she'd told him. Actually she was going studying but she was making a trip somewhere else first. She went into the three broomsticks and used the floo there to go to Diagon Alley.
Once she exited the alleyway she went and caught the tube to the local train station and got a train from there. It took her forty minutes via train but she persevered. She walked down the road stopping to ask a muggle for directions. Once she had them she continued. She eventually found the house she was looking for a knocked at the door stunned at who answered. She didn't know them at all but knew it wasn't who she was looking for.
"Hello I discovered my ancestors used to live here may I come in and see the house?" she asked kindly as the muggle woman frowned.
"I am home alone and I would rather not…" but she couldn't finish as with a quick Imperio using her new wand she went in and looked over the whole house.
"How was this house when you moved in?"
"It was a mess. There was blood everywhere from the house fire and forensics found old blood in the cupboard under the stairs which had been there at least nine years. But we loved the area and saw the potential so we simply had to move in. It is ok now though as you can see" she said listlessly as Hermione fumed.
"What about Harry Potter?" she asked forcefully as the woman seemed shocked despite her mild manner.
"Who is that? I don't know anyone by that name!" she said as Hermione screamed out fuck and threw a stunner her way. She decided to call in a few doors down.
"Hello I'm looking for my aunt Petunia Dursley. It's been ages since I've seen her and I couldn't remember which number she lived in!" she said with a nervous giggle shocked at the woman's response.
"Oh my dear girl I am so sorry but there was a massive house fire and they didn't survive it. Is there someone I can call for you?" she asked a stunned Hermione who balked. As the Dursleys were muggles their death wasn't reported on in the paper hence the reason why she knew nothing of it at all.
"Do you know what happened to their nephew at all?" she asked curiously.
"To be quite honest I don't but I don't much care. He was an awful boy and was going to Saint Brutus School for incurably criminal boys. Poor Petunia god rest her soul was always so devastated by him. You see his mother had been a raging alcoholic and as Petunia said both she and her husband died in a car crash. It was all very tragic but then again if I'd be raised to start off with by alcoholics I might be a bit unstable myself!" she said sanctimoniously as an enraged Hermione screamed and obliviated the woman leaving again. Why had his aunt been so fucking nasty? Curse that bitch. Maybe if she'd been a tad nicer and not such a shit Harry might still be alive though ultimately the fault of that lay at the feet of Sirius Black. Why would Petunia tell everyone that James and Lily Potter had been alcoholics? No wonder Harry always said he was hated so much. He probably was if this is what everyone was told about him.
An hour later Hermione was back at school in the library reading a book feeling so very confused. Why had everyone hated him so much in the muggle world? Had he wanted to die to escape? Had he asked Sirius to bring him out for ice cream hoping he'd die? So many questions whirled in her head. She jumped as she suddenly noticed McGonagall looking at her in concern.
"Miss Granger you were spotted today in London of all places and I don't need to tell you where I obtained this information. Are you ok?" she asked her concerned as Hermione wondered who had seen her.
"Yes I am fine. I needed to get away for a bit to clear my head. I hope that's not a problem!" she said as Minerva smiled.
"That's ok Miss Granger I was just checking. How is Mr Weasley faring?" she asked as Hermione rolled her eyes.
"To be honest Professor while I love him dearly I don't much care about how he's doing. I'm too busy trying to sort things out in my own head. I just don't have time for him right now. When I am better able to understand everything I may have time for him!" she said as Minerva looked at her sternly.
"Speaking now, Hermione dear purely as someone who had a spouse before please don't shut Mr Weasley out he will need your support now more than ever. You will really need one another and I have noticed him struggling as of late. If you ever need to talk you know where to find me!" she said as Hermione looked up at her such anger in her eyes it stunned her.
"You know what no I don't know where to find you. You don't even think to tell people where your bloody office is we need to go looking for it. Do you even like your house anymore? The day I ever need help is not the day I go to you. I'll probably just be told to keep my damn head down like Harry always was. Why was he so bad? Why did no one ever like him or help him when he needed it? He's dead and it's all Sirius Blacks fault. Don't lecture me on marriage. Didn't your husband die or something but then again he probably got sick of not being listened to. By the way he's not the only one. Just take yourself and your false promises and fuck off because right now it's too little too late bitch!" she snapped grabbing her books, storming from the library and leaving a truly stunned Minerva behind. Minerva raised her wand to her head extracting the memory and putting it in a vial and walked to Filiuses office. He was very level headed and just the right kind of person to share this with.
"Filius could you please view this memory of mine in your pensive and tell me how you would handle the situation. I need a cool and calm approach so this is why I came to you! Plus I know I'll get a straight direct answer" she said handing over the vial as he smiled at her.
"Come in Minerva. Yes I'll look at that right now. Have a seat. Lottie! Some tea and cakes please!" he said to his personal elf who nodded and prepared the tea as he watched the short memory. He emerged in a few minutes and sat down opposite her.
"Well Minerva I know what was said about you in Harry's will and while he was right he did also get into a lot of trouble and I might have told him to behave and keep his head down myself. The point is he didn't get the help he came to you for. Either he didn't explain properly what he was there for or you feared he was in trouble and told him to keep himself out of trouble. You know me Minerva I'm very blunt. You screwed up before but Hermione had no right to explode at you like that. Yes she is grieving but so too is Miss Black and she is not acting like this. I would advise a high point loss and a detention myself. You should never speak ill of the dead ever!" he said seriously as she cried into a tissue she'd been handed.
"Oh Filius I feel awful. Can you believe that someone in Slytherin brought a first year lion to my class as she got lost and Percy wouldn't help her because he was studying and I accused the snake of lying to me? I punished the girl by taking points from her and told her to stop lying. I later found out he wasn't lying to me at all much to my shock. After everything Harry said in his will I asked Percy about it!" she said as he eyed her seriously.
"Yes and what did Percy have to say for himself?" he asked as he poured her a cup of tea and handed her a slice of cheesecake.
"Thank you Filius. Well after Harry's will I realised I didn't do enough for my house and so I changed everything. I told everyone where they could find me and provided maps to new first years. Mr Weasley and Miss Granger were not there when I did this change so it makes sense that they wouldn't know about it. As for Percy when I asked him about it he told me that if he had, had an exam coming up it was quite possible he could well have said that. He said he didn't understand why they disturbed him when he was studying and couldn't have asked another prefect!" she said as he smiled at her.
"I see. Yes he does study an awful lot" he said as she nodded.
"I asked him about that and he told me the fact that his father got the job he wanted but never ever aspired to be more was disgraceful and that he should have. So tell me then how did Miss Granger appear when you saw her in London?" she asked as Filius chuckled. He had gone to the bank on business when he spotted her.
"She had a very determined look on her face. She checked a sheet of paper she had with her and left at once. I followed behind her a bit. All I know is that she got a ticket to go to Surrey on the train but not why. Maybe she was meeting someone. When she was back in just under an hour I rather gathered her meeting if it was a meeting had not gone well!" he said as she gasped aloud.
"Surrey is where Harry used to live. Hopefully she didn't see too much she should not have or more than likely told someone something she shouldn't have. Until we know why she went there I would do nothing for now. That will be twenty points from Gryffindor for her cheek earlier on and may she learn a lesson from it" she said pouring herself another tea. They needed t talk some more for sure.
