The Last-Pt.6

It had been over an hour since the group fought against the puppets' army, and during the battle, Sasuke had managed to lose sight of Naruko. Quickly, he reduced the puppets to ashes, consuming them in black flames, and ran to locate Naruko. Only Sasuke could not see her anywhere; the others also began searching for her, but it was as if the girl had disappeared into thin air.

The blonde's disappearance caused Sasuke's thoughts to spiral out of control, anxiety eating at him, wanting to get up, and demand answers as to where Naruko could have gone. Swearing to himself that if anything happened to her, he would burn the whole moon to the ground until she was found and returned to his side.

Sasuke, consumed by his dark thoughts of genocide, didn't even realize when Sakura took a seat next to him on the log until the pinknette reached out and touched his shoulder. "Relax, Sasuke-kun. Naruko is strong. She can handle herself." The woman's soft tone reminded Sasuke that what Sakura said was true. Naruko was not just any normal woman, but one with powers of a goddess and Kurama on her side.

Any fool stupid enough to kidnap her would be in for a rude awakening, and that didn't even add in the damages he would inflict on that person for taking someone who Sasuke Uchiha cherished above all else in this world. Staring at the Uchiha on her left, Sakura couldn't help but study his profile. When reflected in the moonlight, soft raven hair shined like silk, his skin was fair, and he had a handsome and angular face. He had grown taller over the years, slender but with nice broad shoulders. His entire body filled out in sleek, toned muscles.

Sasuke had always been a beautiful boy, and over the years, that young boy grew into a beautiful man. It was no wonder she felt her heart flutter in her chest, but things were different now. Sasuke seemed to have realized that Sakura was staring and pointed those dark onyx eyes her way. Spotting the dots of confusion laced within those dark orbs, Sakura could already see them jumping to conclusions and giggled.

"You know, Sasuke-kun, you were the love of my life back when we were genins. My prince charming, who my whole world once revolved around. Tch, what a naive little girl I was back then." Lips lifted into a mocking smile, hands clutching her knees. Sasuke said nothing as he let the girl speak her mind.

"I've been aware of this fact for a long time, but it feels good to get it off my chest now. " Sakura lifted her head and pointed those determined shiny emerald eyes straight at Sasuke and said, "I'm letting you go, Uchiha Sasuke."

"No more will you be the center of my universe. Perhaps in another world, I held on tightly to my love. Maybe I even succeeded. But this is not that world, as the romantic love I had for you stopped a long time ago. I know who lies in your heart. Something which I've known for a long time, but once tried to ignore. Of course, I didn't realize this until you left, and yeah, I was heartbroken by it initially, but I already cried my tears over the loss of my first love. Sasuke..." Sakura lifted her arm and placed it on Sasuke's shoulders, never once breaking eye contact with him as she continued.

"It's time for you to wake up and admit your feelings to her. You and I both know what you feel towards her, but if you keep waiting around, someone else will steal her away." Sakura watched as Sasuke's right eye bled into the Sharingan, and curled her lips into a smirk upon witnessing Sasuke's actions.

"I will never let that happen." A growl escaped Sasuke's voice. The fury of wanting to eradicate all who held such thoughts plagued the Uchiha's mind. The skin on his arms almost broke out into a sweat, fear clutching at his soul from the very notion of Sakura's words coming true. Nodding her head, Sakura felt proud to hear Sasuke's response and grinned at the man who was her first love.

"That's what I wanted to hear. Naruko is an extraordinary girl, and she deserves happiness. So, Sasuke-kun, go and make that lovable sunshine idiot of ours happy. You both deserve it." Sakura straightened her muscles, finally having vented all of her old pent up feelings, before getting up on her feet.

Sasuke stared up at their pink-haired teammate and realized Sakura had grown into a beautiful kunoichi. The pink-haired little girl who used to follow after him had finally grown up, walking her own path to achieve happiness. Sasuke might not share Sakura's past love for him, but he did view the pink-haired woman as family.

"Thank-you, Sakura," murmured Sasuke, voice so low that it barely came out as a whisper. Nevertheless, Sakura heard him.

"Hey, it's what friends do, but-" Suddenly the medical-ninja reached out and gripped Sasuke's shoulder painfully, causing the Uchiha to wince, feeling his bone about to break.

"If you so much as hurt her as you did before, next time I won't hesitate to kill you." The pretty kunoichi with lovely green eyes pulled her soft pink lips back into a sweet smile. Knowing what Sakura was capable of and how she cherished Naruko like a younger sister, Sasuke timidly nodded his head. Never would he admit that Sakura, of all people, had managed to scare him a little.

When Sai, Hinata, and Shikamaru reunited with the group, the ex-root member showed them a tiny navy blue frog charm token. "A couple of miles from here we found this lying on the ground. I believe this is something Naruko left behind," explained Shikamaru.

"Wait, are you trying to say someone took Naruko? How?" There were legit reasons behind Sakura's confusion. After the war, Naruko held the title of Second Goddess of Shinobi, meaning she was in the top tier amongst ninja rankings.

"Don't know, but hopefully, this will give us answers," said Sai as everyone watched him throw the cute charm on the ground, only for smoke to issue out of it. Once cleared, sitting on four legs was a toad with navy blue skin and a red swirl design printed over his body. A pair of sunglasses rested over his eyes, raising his web hand in the air in a greeting.

"Sup! The name's S'uke!" greeted the hipster toad, who identified himself as S'uke.

"S'uke? Wait a minute! Doesn't that name..." Sakura trailed her eyes over to Sasuke. Despite the void of emotions he wore on his face, Sakura knew his thoughts and concerns were all directed solely on Naruko. Still, the toad's name was obviously inspired by Sasuke's!

"Naru-hime left me behind so you all will know what happened when she got separated and to help you guys track her down," S'uke said before his eyes broadcasted a holographic screen. It showed Naruko and some mysterious whited haired man standing oddly close together. Sasuke narrowed his eyes, wanting to cut off the man's hand that was holding Naruko's chin.

"I am your soulmate Ōtsutsuki Tenori. It's time for you to become my wife, Uzumaki Naruko," confessed the man who called himself Ōtsutsuki Tenori.

"W-W-W-W-Wife?!" Naruko's flabbergasted expression of shock and confusion mirrored those who were watching the recorded scene. A drop of sweat ran down Shikamaru's brow, watching Sasuke unsheathe his sword and Hinata awaken her Byakugan.

'Before this mission ends, there's going to be a bloodbath.' thought Shikamaru. The two ravens' thirst for blood ran for miles, eyes laced with scrutiny directed at the mysterious stranger who just boldly confessed to wanting Naruko as his bride.
