Meredith woke up to hearing Derek's voice talk quietly. She looked over and saw him in the rocking chair, rocking Elliana slowly. He looked exhausted himself, the twins were only four hours old. They both seemed to be very calm babies, they haven't heard Elliana cry yet but Elliot definitely was loud and proud.

"One day I'm going to take you fishing, and we are going to catch the biggest fish in the lake," he smiled as he spoke softly to the little girl.

"You are not taking her fishing," Meredith chuckled. She looked over into the bassinet where Elliot was sleeping peacefully.

"Say, yes I am mommy," Derek said to Elliana.

"Here, I want to try to feed her before the kids get here," Meredith sat up, she was definitely gaining the feeling back and she felt it with every move.

"I think I'm going to FaceTime mom and let her meet her new grand babies if that is alright with you?" He asked. He knew she was tired, she had just endured delivering twins.

"Yeah, that's fine," she smiled as she helped Elliana get latched to her breast. Derek grabbed his phone and flipped through his contacts before landing on his mother. He gave her a ring and she answered it fairly quickly.

"Hey ma," he smiled at the phone.

"Derek, hold on I don't know how to work this thing," she started.

"Mom, just point it at your face and he can see you," a voice from the background said.

"Is that Lizzie?" He asked.

"Hey DerBear," she jumped into the frame.

"Good you're both here. Listen we got some news," he started.

"Oh is Meredith in labor!" Carolyn said with excitement. She adored babies, especially her grandchildren.

"She actually already had them," he smiled as he went over to a sleeping Elliot and flipped the camera around, "I'd like to introduce Christopher Elliot Shepherd."

"Oh Derek, he's just precious," Carolyn had a tear in her eye, "and his name."

"He needed a strong name, something to navigate this crazy world in. We are going to call him Elliot though," Derek gleamed with happiness while he talked about his son.

"Where the other one?" Lizzie asked as she was also in awe.

"She's finishing up eating now," he smiled, he waited until Meredith was decent. Elliana had fallen asleep, she was definitely milk drunk.

"Hi Carolyn," Meredith smiled as Derek went over to her and pointed the camera at their faces. He slowly moved down to show the baby.

"And this is little Elliana Caroline Shepherd," he said.

"Oh Derek, she looks just like Amelia when she was a newborn," Carolyn said.

"Thanks Ma," he shook his head.

"I said she looked like her too," Meredith giggled.

"We wanted to name her after someone special. So Elliana is after Meredith's mother and Caroline after you," he said.

"Derek, I'm honored," she had tears of joys streaming down her cheeks.

"I love you ma, wish you could be here," he tried to smile but it really upset him she couldn't be here. He knew she was upset also, she didn't want to admit but her knee surgery really took a toll on her body.

"Oh I can't wait for Christmas, I have to make them their honorary Shepherd ornaments along with Meredith, Scarlett, and little CJ," his mother smiled. Every year one of the sister's had a baby, she made ornaments for them. Everyone in the Shepherd clan had their own ornament.

"Congrats baby brother, Meredith made some cute babies," she laughed.

"I helped!" He scoffed.

"Alright guys, I am going to let you go so you can spend some time together. Please send me pictures of them and the other kids," she said. Meredith felt her heart grow, she had never really had a mother who loved her and Carolyn was so open and accepted her and her children into the family.

"I will," he smiled before hanging up the phone.

"You realize for Christmas, we will be traveling with five children, two of them being six months old," she said.

"I know, it's insane. And Lexie and Mark will have their little one to join. That's going to be a fun flight," he laughed.

"I don't want to think about it," she chuckled, slowly standing up and putting Elliana into her bassinet. She looked at the two sleeping babies side by side, you could definitely tell which were Meredith's features and which were Shepherd features on both of them. She starred in awe at the sleeping pair, she still couldn't fathom that two humans came out of her.

"Knock knock," Amelia said very giddy as she opened the door. She was followed by her other three.

"Shh, they are sleeping," Meredith hushed them as they came in.

"Mama they are so cute!" Scarlett squealed.

"Oh she looks like me!" Zoe said as she stepped over to Elliana's bed.

"She does," Derek nodded. Zoe had always looked a lot more like Rose but as she got older, her Shepherd features really stood out.

"Hey CJ, what you think?" Derek asked as CJ sat down on the couch.

"I don't know yet," he shrugged. He was too sure of them in the beginning, it's taken a while for him to warm up to the idea of being a big brother.

"Hey, you'll warm up to them bud," Derek patted his shoulder. Elliot began to fuss in his bed, he tried to squirm out of the swaddle and stretch out.

"Oh he's waking up, hi baby brother," Zoe immediately went to him and smiled. She had really come to love the idea of becoming a big sister, she and Scarlett constantly talked about it.

"He's probably hungry," Meredith said in a baby voice, "aren't ya little guy."

"Oh I wanna feed him!" Zoe said proudly.

"I don't think you can do that hun," Meredith chuckled as she lifted the baby out of the bassinet.

"Why not!" She huffed.

"Because they are both breast fed right now. When we start him getting use to a bottle then I promise you can be the first one to feed him," Meredith smiled.

"Uh, he eats your boob?" Zoe was confused.

"No," Meredith couldn't help but laugh along with Amelia and Derek who both busted into a laughter.

"You remember how Aunt Lizzie use to feed Joey?" He asked.

"Oh so he drinks her milk. Does that make you a cow?" Zoe asked curiously. More laughter erupted from them as Meredith just shook her head.

"No," she laughed. She sat on the bed and tried to get him to latch. His first latch went amazing but since then he has had a lot of trouble.

"Can I hold the little princess?" Amelia asked kindly.

"Of course," Meredith nodded and Amelia carefully picked up the baby.

"Hi sweet girl," Amelia whispered as she bounced the little girl in her arms.

"Makes you want to have one, doesn't it?" Meredith smiled up at her. She looked so motherly as she held the sleeping little girl in her arms.

"Oh god no, I mean one day but I'm perfectly happy being auntie Amelia," Amelia chuckled as she bounced slowly with the baby as she walked to sit down.

"Oh can I hold her next aunt Amelia!" Scarlett quickly jumped on the couch next to her.

"Yeah here go ahead," Amelia smiled as she stood up.

"Derek," Meredith pointed her head toward Scarlett.

"Oh yeah, Scarlett here let me held you," Derek said as he grabbed the boppy pillow and put it in her lap before Amelia carefully put her in her arms. Zoe hurried over and sat down next to her, engulfed in the baby. Derek smiled as he took a picture to send to his mother.

"You look good as a big sister," Derek smiled at her.

"Me next!" Zoe happily bounced in her seat.

"You will get your turn Zoe," Derek said. He glanced over at Meredith, she looked frustrated as she tried to get Elliot to latch. There was another knock on the door and Lexie entered in her scrubs.

"Hi, do you guys want me to go?" Lexie asked when she noticed so many people in the room.

"No you're ok," Meredith sighed. Elliot wasn't having it at all and fussed against her chest.

"Hey since you're all here, would you like to hear their names?" Derek spoke up.

"Yes!" Amelia exclaimed.

"Ok, well this is Elliana Caroline," Derek pointed to the little girl that sat sleeping in Scarlett's arms.

"Mer," Lexie had tears in her eyes when she heard her name.

"She had to be named after someone who means everything to me," Meredith chuckled.

"I love it," Lexie wiped her tears away.

"And here we have Christopher Elliot," Meredith smiled as she nodded to the baby boy in her arms. He finally got latched on and was suckling away.

"Dad," Amelia frowned slightly as she looked at Derek.

"I couldn't help it, it just kept screaming my name," Derek smiled.

"Their names are so adorable," Amelia said.

"Yep. Little EllieBell and Elliot," Meredith said proudly.

"Cute names for cute babies," Lexie cooed over the babies.

"Ok, my turn!" Zoe said as she tried to get the little girl from Scarlett.

"Here let me help you," Derek quickly jumped into action. He carefully moved her into Zoe's arms and she smiled from ear to ear.

"I'm sorry I can stay long, look I'll be back for baby cuddles later!" Lexie said as she was walking out the door.

"I'm going to the cafeteria to grab us some lunch. You guys want to go?" He asked the kids.

"I'm starving dad!" Zoe said.

"Here, I'll get the little princess," Amelia offered as she took her from Zoe. The four of them happily bounced out of the room which left Amelia and Meredith with the babies.

"So tell me honestly, how are you doing?" Amelia asked as she sat in the rocking chair with the tiny girl.

"I'm exhausted, no I'm beyond exhausted. And breastfeeding is hard, especially with two babies," she said honestly. She hadn't talked to Derek because she didn't want to take away the baby magic from him.

"I can stay at the house for a few days once you guys get home to help you get settled in," Amelia offered.

"Are we avoiding Owen?" Meredith quickly questioned.

"He is talking babies and I'm not ready for that."

"Did you tell him?" Meredith raised her brow at Amelia.

"No. I mean I do want kids, just not yet," she shook her head.

"I completely understand. I'm all for waiting until you are mentally ready. I wasn't with Scarlett, I was absolutely terrified and suffered major PPD," Meredith told her honestly. She didn't talk about how hard she had it with Scarlett. She was almost embarrassed until she realized how common it was for mother's.

"I know. And I want to talk to him but he would make such a great dad," Amelia said.

"You will make an amazing mom Amelia. I see you with the kids and you are a natural."

"That's because I'm aunt Amelia. I'm fun and I sugar them up and send them home, it's different," she shrugged.

"You need to talk to him," she encouraged. Some parts of her really wasn't sure she even wanted another baby much less two but once she seen their little faces, she knew her growing family was complete.

"I will," she smiled as she slowly rocked the miniature her that had came from Meredith. She was really unprepared with how she would look, through all the ultrasounds she had only seen her face twice and even then she had her hands up. She was sure she would come out like a miniature her much like Scarlett was but the Shepherd gene's were much smaller than hers.

"How's the house going?" Amelia asked.

"It has foundation and the walls for the first floor is up. They should be done in eight months or so," she said. She couldn't believe that Derek was building a home for them.

"I'm glad," she smiled at her. The relationship between them has truly blossomed. She already had a sister but her and Amelia had connected from the start. She was thankful Amelia had turned into the sister she didn't know she wanted. It wasn't long before Derek had came back with Meredith a plate of food, he had eaten in the cafeteria to give her a little break from the kids. She was glad he realized how overwhelming it was to have all five of their children in one little room.

"Hey guys, I think your mom and dad want to eat and get some sleep," Amelia said as she carefully stood up, putting the baby in the bassinet.

"When are you guys coming home?" Zoe asked.

"Tomorrow, we will be home in the morning hopefully," Meredith smiled. Each child quickly hurried over and kissed Meredith's cheek before Amelia managed to escape with them without tears. It was just the four of them, Derek had taken Elliot from Meredith so she could eat while he bonded with him. He was overjoyed with being a dad again.

"Amelia offered to help out the next few days at the house if that is ok with you?" Meredith asked.

"Yes. We need all the help we can get!" Derek smiled over at her before his eyes went back to their son.

"I talked to the builders, they are saying the house might be done before Christmas," he said with excitement in his voice.

"That soon?" She asked.

"With how many guys they have working on it, I'm not surprised," he replied.

"That will be good, we will ring in the new year with all new beginnings this year," she smiled at him as she was eating on the food. Cafeteria food had never been her favorite but she was starving. Breastfeeding made her extremely hungry. Another knock on the door and Meredith let out a sigh. She couldn't handle any more visitors today. She was beyond exhausted.

"Just us," two nurses came into the room.

"Thank god," Meredith had a sigh of relief, she was glad so many people cared but having a baby was overwhelming.

"So we are going to take these two little joys to the nursery just to run their hearing and vision test and check their bilirubin. They will be back in an hour," one of them said as they each grabbed a bassinet and were out the door with a quickness.

"I'm so exhausted," Meredith admitted to him.

"I know. You did so amazing with the birth, I couldn't believe it," he smiled over at her. She could tell how tired he was as well. They knew it would be a challenge but didn't know how hard two babies would be. The nurses were rarely seen; just to get vitals and check in, "hey I'm going to watch from the window."

"Ok," she smiled at him. He was such an amazing father, he adored those babies more than anything else in this world. Meredith thought she would have a moment of peace until there was a knock and Addison came in.

"Hey Meredith, just checking in before I go home for the night," she smiled. Addison was tired, her eyes usually filled with joy and happiness were starting to sag from the exhaustion. She had delivered six babies in total today which was a lot for one OB, especially since two were emergency caesarians.

"I'm ok. Definitely sore but that peri bottle is a life saver," she laughed.

"Tell me about it. I used it the whole six weeks after my son was born," she laughed.

"How old is your son?" Meredith asked.

"He's 3. He's definitely a wild child. Jake has a daughter that is twenty two so the age gap was a lot for us," she said brightly.

"What does Jake do if you don't mind me asking?" Meredith asked.

"He's a fertility specialist. He actually just joined a private practice when we moved here. That's actually how we met. I was getting older and I knew I wanted a baby so I made an appointment to get IVF with a sperm donor and he was my doctor. He was also my neighbor so I kind of met him a few times so it wasn't me just going after my doctor," she laughed. Meredith was coming to really like Addison, she seemed genuine and really down to earth.

"That's so weird how the world works," she laughed.

"It is, like destiny had brought us together. Henry was a real miracle, I had three eggs left and somehow he came through," she chuckled.

"That's amazing. I'm glad it worked out for you," she said.

"Yeah, me too. I mean I could have adopted but being an OBGYN, I really wanted to experience that magic of giving birth," Addison admitted.

"I'm glad you did. We really should grab lunch sometime," Meredith smiled at her.

"Oh definitely. I can give you some college stories on Dorky Derek," she chuckled.

"Derek! A dork?" Meredith couldn't help but laugh.

"I have pictures to prove. I'm glad he found hair products because that Afro was not fitting," Addison giggled.

"Oh god," Meredith couldn't help but burst into laughter. She couldn't imagine Derek being anything but the mouthwatering McDreamy he was today.

"Listen, I'm gonna let you rest up and I'll come by in the morning and get you discharged," Addison said before leaving the room. Meredith was relieved, she didn't know why she had been so jealous of Addison. She seemed like she really loved her life and was far past Derek. She enjoyed the peace before the door opened again and in came Derek followed by the two nurses. They dropped them off and left after they told her they did fantastic.

"Hey Dorky Derek," Meredith smirked. His mouth dropped and he was shocked.

"I'm going to kill Addison," he just smiled and shook his head.

"You owe me pictures," she giggled as one of the twins began to fuss. Derek scooped up Elliana and handed her off to Meredith who was already ready to feed her. Her life was slowly becoming perfect in every way and she couldn't believe the love she had felt for this man who she couldn't imagine herself falling in love with to begin with.
