Bionicle Mara's Story

Chapter 30

Greash slowly opened his eyes and found himself on the ground, he looked up to see a large hole in the ceiling. Then he remember, the ground had given out under Mazeka and his feet. A groan to his left alerted him that his Matoran companion was also awake.

"We need to find the others," Gresh huffed pushing himself up.

"You don't say," Mazeka replied sarcastically.

The Jungle Glatorian chose to ignore him as he looked around, they couldn't reach the hole so they'd have to find another way. "Any ideas?" He reluctantly asked.

Mazeka looked around, "Are best bet is to find a way out, even if I knew the schematics of this place ot's to damaged.

With no better plan Gresh shrugged and looked down a corridor that wasn't as cluttered and headed down it, the two walked in silence. The area they were in had many doors, most damaged. But one further from the others was undamaged. It looked like at one point the door had been covered in debris, the two noticed the door was grander than the others.

"It must of been blocked off during the battle," Mazeka noted.

"I wonder what's inside?" Gresh moved to open the door.

"Careful, you don't know what the recovery teams might of missed," the Ice Matoran warned.

"Can't be any worst then being lost in here." A miniature cyclone took care of remaining rocks and Gresh opened the door. "Looks like someone's room." Inside was what had once been a very nice if slightly scary room. Some objects on the walls looked like weapons and masks, the others. . . not something either wanted to think to heavily on, As they were about to leave something caught Gresh's attention, the young Jungle Glatorian turned to a stasis box set in the corner. "There's someone inside!" He cried running to it.

"We don't have time!" Mazeka clipped.

But Gresh ignored him gazing into the tube and realized it was a Toa inside. "We need to help."

"We can't!" Mazeka snapped. When Gresh didn't answer he shouted, "THEIR A CASUALTIE OF WAR!"

"NO!" Gresh turned to him, a fierce look in his eyes that took the Matoran aback. "Never! We never leave anyone behind. I'm not so stupid or naive to believe I can save everyone but I'll never abounded someone if I can help it!" The Jungle Glatorian then slammed his blade into the glass shattering it. The figure slumped forward and he caught her realizing she was a Toa of Psionics.

"Uhhh. . ." the figure moaned and slowly opened her eyes. She gazed at Gresh and Mazeka af first confused then managed a weak smile, "A Ko-Matoran and a Toa of Air, interesting rescuers."

The two shared a look. "Um, I'm not a Toa Ma'am, I'm a Glatorian," Gresh said.

She gazed at him confused, "G-Glatorian?"

"Yes," Mazeka said, "A-A lots happened since you must have been in there. To much to tell right now."

She eyed him, "Your mind's shielded." Before the ice Matoran could respond she turned to Gresh and placed a hand on his head, "Please, I won't look at anything personal." Gresh felt something, like a brush against his mind, with a gasp the Toa pulled her hand back, "So-So much has happened."

"Ma'am there's a lot to explain but now's not the time, one of our friends is in danger."

"I know, take the tunnel on the right and you'll find her."

Before Gresh could ask she passed out, "What do we do?"

"You go after them," Mazeka declared, "I'll stay with her."

"Are you sure?"

"Will be fine. Go!" Gresh nodded as he jumped to his feet and ran out of the room hoping to catch the others. Hearing shouting ahead he ran faster.

Unaware of what had happened to their comrades Lewa, Kiina and Nuparu continued their trek down the corridor.

"This place is as creepy on the inside as the outside," Nuparu spoke up.

"I'd hate to think of what the Dark Hunters base looks like on Spheres Magna," Kiina said.

"How much longer do you think?"

"That depends on how much of the building is left," Lewa shrugged.

"Helpful," Kiina muttered. Lewa was about to retort when he suddenly stopped causing the other two to walk into him. "Hey!" Kiina snapped, "What's the-"

"Can you feel that?"

"Feel what?"

Lewa couldn't answer, he couldn't really describe it. It felt like a building of energy, a familiar energy.

"Hey, where's Gresh and Mazeka?" Nuparu noticed their missing companions.

That made the Toa and Glatorian turn. "Great," Kiina muttered, "Now we have to-"

"GET BEHIND ME!" Lewa shouted shoving the female Glatorian into Nuparu as he started making a wind funnel just as the former base shook from a powerful explosion.

Jaller was surprised when Mara was suddenly placed in his arms. As soon as she was safe Takanuva stood and turned to his dark counterpart, the Shadow Toa had to shield his eyes as it only got brighter in the tunnel. Jaller had never seen this side of Takanuva before, he had heard about his adventures in Karda Nui from Gali and wounded if this was similar.

"Where can you hide now!" Takanuva said softly yet his words echoed everywhere. He then started shooting bolts of light at his shadow counterpart who barely dodged the light blasts.

"What's he doing," Gresh asked.

"He's driving him away," Marethyu answered. He was about to follow but something made him stop in horrible realization. "He's. . . he's going to create a Nova Blast!"

"WHAT?!" Jaller exclaimed in horror, he heard about the one Gali had unleashed destroying Karzahni. This wasn't good.

Marethyu had another realization, "He's driving the dark Toa towards the surface."

"That still might not protect us," Jaller revealed worriedly.

"Gresh!" Marethyu snapped, "Create a wind funnel!"

Without any hesitation the young Jungle Glatorian created a powerful wind force around the group. Marethyu added his shadow powers to help strengthen it.

And just in time as everyone felt a powerful energy and the world shook with such force it almost knocked everyone off their feet, Gresh and Marethyu just barely stayed on their feet as the roof collapsed on them.

"TAKANUVA!" Jaller cried.
