One thing before we get started here. I am always appreciative of reviews, but if you are going to point out a typo you don't have to be rude about it. Someone pointed out that Ahsoka's name was spelled wrong and said I shouldn't include her if her name was spelled wrong, like jeez it was a typo. Anyway, on to the story.
Jade Helm
Ezra was still a little skeptical of this so called 'Jedi'. Even thought Hera had confirmed his validity as a Jedi, he still didn't trust him. Especially since Hera said he was recruiting young force sensitives to be Jedi. Right now, Ezra and Sabine were standing outside the tower, the children upstairs. The hum of engines died down and a small shuttle landed pretty close to them. The ramp lowered to reveal a man, tall, thin, blonde hair, and dressed in black robes. As he approached Ezra moved his hand to his lightsaber. The man approached him as another person came down the ramp.
"Hello. You must be Ezra and Sabine Wren-Bridger. General Syndulla has spoken very highly of both of you. I am Luke Skywalker." Luke stated as he reached out and shook Ezra's hand.
"I'm pretty sure they know who you are Luke. We wouldn't be here otherwise." The woman behind him said in a snarky tone.
"This brat is my wife, Mara Jade." Luke chuckled at her response to his "brat" comment.
"Hey." Mara looked at Sabine and Ezra and was curious. "So, you two are married?"
"Yes, we were married almost 2 years ago now." Sabine chimed in.
"I can sense other force sensitives here. I'm taking that as you two have children." Luke said matter of factly.
"Yes, we have twin girls. Also, an adopted daughter." Ezra looked at Luke, trying to find his intentions with that information.
"Well, when we are done here, they can come train at the Temple on Yavin to become Jedi." Luke was unaware to not only Ezra's hostility towards that idea, but also Sabine's.
"What makes you think we will let them go with you." Sabine growled as Ezra placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Because, it is the will of the Force that they become Jedi." Luke could not really understand why they wouldn't allow them to go with him.
"Then I will be the one who trains them. No offense Skywalker, but my children will not be leaving with you. If they are to become Jedi, then I will oversee their training." Ezra said sternly as he released Sabine's shoulder and stepped up to face the shorter man. "I thank you for coming to help us with this issue, but if you are here to take my children away you might as well just leave." With that Ezra and Sabine turned and walked back to the tower.
"Well that could have gone better." Luke said disappointed.
"Ya think? I could sense her hostility to you even being here. Just coming out and saying that you intended to take their children wasn't a smart move Luke." Mara chuckled at her husband's problem.
"You know, you could try and be part of the solution." He stared at Mara before her eyes lit up.
"And I think I know just how to do it." She walked off to the tower, a curious Luke following.
As the lift came to a stop, Mara stepped out and looked around the home. It was small, charming, but small. "Sabine, Ezra. I have an idea to help the both of us." Mara said as she found Ezra on the couch and Sabine on the floor with two twin girls and a third smaller girl. "Aww, they are adorable."
"Alright, what do you have in mind?" Ezra asked.
"Luke has been wanting to rebuild old temples throughout the outer rim. I know from my time with the Empire that Lothal had a temple at one time. How about we set up a base here, and you can be its main instructor?" That shocked everyone in the room, except Ezra. He had an idea that was coming.
"Sounds like a reasonable offer. I still get to teach my children, and in time, more younglings." Ezra said deep in thought.
"That is right, however we will not send younglings for a while. A padawan learner might be enough for now. Then we will have Leia commission the reconstruction of the new temple. Once you padawan is old enough for the trials, they will become a Knight and can take on a padawan themselves." Mara seemed to have everything planned out.
"Mara? How did you plan all of this out so fast?" Luke asked, stunned she came up with all of that.
"Trust me, hunting you all those years has taught me to come up with things on the fly." Mara laughed.
"Allow me a few days to decide this. But until then, make yourselves at home." Ezra said politely as Mara moved to where Sabine was sitting. Ezra and Luke walked to the balcony and stepped outside to talk.
"May I?" She asked standing above the children.
"Sure. Mira might not really want to be touched though." Sabine held Mira close as she squirmed.
Mara sat down and waited patiently. After a few minutes, Anna got curious enough to investigate the new presence. Since crawling was easier than walking, Anna slowly made her way to where Mara sat. When she got there, she pulled herself up, using Mara's leg as a prop.
"I assume this little adventurer is not Mira." Mara chuckled as she moved to pick up the baby girl.
"No, this is Mira. That one is Cuyanna, Anna for short." Sabine smiled as her daughter was trying to get Mara to play.
"Cuyanna? That is an interesting name. Any reason behind it?" Mara picked up the little girl and tickled her, smiling as she giggled.
Sabine was silent for a moment. She took a deep breath. "We almost lost her at birth. Mira came out okay, but she was born quiet and not breathing. Ezra said he could feel her life force fading. With help of his old master, Kanan Jarrus, he was able to bring her back. So, we named her Cuyanna. Cuyan means survivor in Mando'a." Sabine held onto Mira with tears in her eyes. She did not take her eyes off of Anna as she cried.
Mara placed her hand on Sabine's shoulder. "I'm sorry. I did not mean to upset you."
"I know, its okay." Sabine sniffed and wiped her eyes. "It is just hard to talk about."
"Well, I wish I had children. Luke isn't sure since we teach at the temple. I think it would be fun, raising your own kid." Mara smiled, daydreaming.
"It's not the easiest thing in the world. They cry a lot, they need constant attention, and don't even get me started on the smells." Sabine laughed. The two women enjoyed each other's company while the guys were outside still.
About 15 meters away, on the balcony.
"Are you sure the Sith will come for them?" Luke asked as he and Ezra looked upon the city from their perch in the sky.
"They made it pretty clear. Mira and Anna were to become Sith. Something they saw to start a Sith army." Ezra shrugged his shoulders.
"Well, even if we are here, there is no guarantee we can protect the two of them. Things will likely get…. bloody." Luke grimaced as he pictured the battle to come. "Are there any other Jedi you know of that can help us?"
"One. I know of one. Her name is Ahsoka Tano. She was your father's padawan." Ezra looked up to space, wondering where Ahsoka could be. "She would also have an old clone captain come with her."
"Ah, I've met Captain Rex. I remember his face when I told him about my father." Luke smiled then it faded as he remembered the heartbreak on Rex's face.
"What do you mean? He died in the Clone Wars did he not?" Ezra was genuinely confused. He was told Anakin perished at the temple.
"You don't know?" Luke saw the confusion on the other man's face and sighed. "Vader was my father."
That shocked Ezra more than any torture probe has. Picturing Anakin Skywalker as Darth Vader didn't make sense. Instead of freaking out, he kept his composure. "I've face him a couple of times. I was lucky to come out alive of those fights." Ezra looked back out over the city, wanting to change the subject. "So, how's Leia. It's been almost ten years since I last saw her."
"Oh she's fine, busy all the time but fine." Luke laughed at a recent memory. "She is married now."
"Well give her our congratulations next time you see her." Ezra smiled.
"You weren't around when the Death Star blew, were you?" Luke asked.
"No, I was off in the Unknown Regions. Sabine told me some hotshot pilot blew it up though. He saved the whole rebellion we worked so hard to build." Ezra smirked not knowing that Luke was said hotshot.
"Well, I wouldn't call myself a hotshot, but yea, I blew it up. She married the guy that helped me do it. His name is Han Solo." Luke smiled.
"That name is very familiar. Sabine said that she went back to the base for a few days to help Evac and he kept flirting with her." Ezra said turning to look back in the room. Sabine and Mara Jade were playing with the children. "Do you two have children of your own? Seems Mara has a good motherly side."
"No. I am not sure we are ready to have children. I mean with the temple and rebuilding the order…" Luke's cheeks went red as he turned to look at his wife.
"I think she wants kids dude." Ezra punched his shoulder and the two walked back inside.
The adults continued to talk long after the kids were put to bed. Eventually they had a decent defense plan for whatever the Sith threw at them. First Ezra had to contact Ahsoka and Rex.
The title doesn't have much to do with the chapter, just the name itself. Jade and Jade, you get the picture. Also sorta throwback to when I said Sabine's fake name was Jade. I had no idea that was gonna be the same as this. Alright, battle chapter coming right up.
