A/N thanks for your reviews and support.
TigrezzTail: thanks for your review my friend. Wang Yan has mostly be the announcer but if the fights were to get out of hand it was hid job to step in. If he had called out for them to stop rather than just stepping in then yes it would be an automatic disqualification. However don't assume quite yet. Things are rarely as they seem.
DarkRavie: thanks for your review my friend.
Naruto's POV
Both teams were checked over by a set of medics. Wang Yan for his part refused medical treatment until both teams were seen to. Out of his team, naruto had the worst injuries. That was the consequences of facing down spirit fusion alone in order to buy time.
Once they were all standing in the middle of the arena Wang Yan moved back in. He said clearly, "Both teams have done an excellent job today. I was surprised by the amount of teamwork shown by both groups. However there can only be one champion in this competition. The winners of the new student tournament is, Wang Dong, Yu Hao, and Naruto Uzumaki!"
Most of the crowd proceeded to erupt into protest. Like the two teams they had assumed Dai Huabin and his team would have won. It would have made sense given that they were the one's to injure Wang Yan.
It took several moment to calm the crowd down long enough for the man to explain. In the end it made more sense than two spirit master with three rings being able to injure someone with 6 rings. No matter the heritage of the spirit masters, it was impossible for them to injure him alone.
The reason he had been injured was due to the strength of the other attack. His main focus had to be on blocking Yu Hao and Wang Dong's spirit fusion. Thus this allowed some of the attack from Dai Huabin's spirit fusion to land causing injury.
Wang Yan questioned sounding genuinely curious, "That spirit fusion was amazing for one so young. May I know the name of your technique?"
Yu Hao glanced at his partner before replying, "Dying in the bright yellow golden road is the name of our technique, sir."
And with that the new student examinations were over. Only 192 of the students who had been accepted at the start of the year passed. Exactly 64 teams made it through as was Shrek tradition.
Those who passed would be split into classes numbering 20 students per class. Class 1 was considered the cream of the crop. Only those who placed high in the exams would be allowed into it. Another exception was that only the core pupils would be allowed into Class 1 and 2.
On the other end of the spectrum was Class 10. They would only be made up of 12 students. In the eyes of the other students and teachers they would be the worst. Those who barely passed the examination.
With the help of his team Naruto stood in the courtyard with the other students who passed. Here they would find out who would be core students.
Director Zhu Yao a man, Naruto had seen watching the fights intently stood in front of them. He had dark green hair and grass colored eyes.
He said coldly, "Here I will name off the list of new core students. Wang Dong, Naruto Uzumaki, Dai Huabin."
He continued on but Naruto had stopped listening. Fists clenched at his side at the injustice that was being done. A list of exactly forty students had been chosen. All of which had spirit levels over 21. Naruto understood it as it was being given.
This was a power play. The administration didnt believe Yu Hao would ever amount to anything. Thus they made sure that he wasnt a core student despite being apart of the champion team.
Naruto stepped forward as the Director finished the list, "Director Zhu Yao, I refuse my position as a core student. You refuse to name my team leader as a core student. I refuse to stand by this."
The Director looked at him in disbelief as he questioned, "Are you sure about this, Uzumaki? You might not get the chance to become a core pupil again. Without being a core pupil you wont be able to enter the inner academy."
Naruto growled, "I stand by my decision."
As long as they worked against Yu Hao he would stand with him. Even if that meant he was stuck as an outer academy student. It was his choice and his choice alone. No one could make it for him.
The Director glanced between the remaining students before announcing another student as a core. Wang Dong looked at them with something akin to pity. Naruto for his part refused to meet his gaze. Wang Dong kept his core student instead of standing by his teammates. For that Izuku refused to acknowledge him.
After a moment the Director explained, "Now that you got through the first examinations you will have two weeks before the start of your classes. You can go home or petition a teacher to help you with getting new spirit rings. Today you rest. Tomorrow you make your decision."
As the students broke up he and Yu Hao approached Dai Huabin. The dark look on his face was well worth the pains of the battle. Xaiogang approached from behind the White Tiger heir. He was waiting to see how things would play out.
Naruto said folding his arms across his chest, "I believe you owe us a spirit bone each. Of course if you back down now then we can take this to the Council."
Dai Huabin's face went bright red with anger. No doubt he was ashamed that he lost to them. Both Naruto and Yu Hao come from unknown families. They were the spirit masters of their line as far as they knew. It brought shame upon his sect to lose to nobodies.
If he went back on his word and it did go to the Council however it would bring even greater shame. So what would he choose?
