Title: Marionette

Summary: In her dreams, she was a normal, quirkless human. In reality, she was a doll, a lonely dreamer of a doll, born from parents who were quirkless.

"How are you, Elizabeth?"

"I am fine, Principal Nezu."

Nezu watched the blonde quietly stare at him with her usual expressionless face and congratulated her on passing the examination. "Congratulations on placing in the T#1 spot, Elizabeth. I watched your performance and you're on the path to being a great hero."

"I do not want to be a hero." Elizabeth retorted calmly.

"Why is that, Elizabeth?" Nezu asked with inquiring eyes. He would never admit it but she unnerved him. He couldn't read her because she had no emotions or facial expressions. He couldn't tell if she was angry or sad at all

She remained silent.

"What do you want then?"

"I want to be human. I want to be normal." She replied as she always did when he asked her this question. She didn't understand why he was trying to be her therapist.

"You know, Elizabeth," Nezu replied, "I believe that going down the path of a hero you will find what you seek" Elizabeth remained unmoved by his words, which he had told her many times while they had this conversation.

"Are you done, Principal Nezu?" Elizabeth tilted her head to the side, "I am afraid I will miss morning class today."

"Do not fear," Nezu replied with a chuckle, realizing the irony of his words, "we have three more things to discuss." When he said this Elizabeth sat down, her posture straight, not a hair out of place, just perfect.

"About your quirk..." He knew she didn't like talking about her quirk. He sighed inwardly, know how much her parents contributed to her not liking her quirk. She didn't need emotions for him to know she didn't like to use it.

"What about it, Principal Nezu?"

"Do you think you understand it better, Elizabeth?" He asked. He had all night to think about her quirk and he had come to some conclusions that may help her understand it better.

"I dreamed about being a human last night, "Elizabeth monotonously replied, "it is always better in my dreams. I did not have time to think of this curse."

Nezu smiled wryly. "It is not a curse, Elizabeth. You should think about this because you're going to be a hero."

"You're forcing me to be a hero." She said.

"For a good reason and I am your guardian." He shot back, watching her intently. She showed no signs of anger. From what she told him, her brain knew what emotions were but were unable to carry out such actions due to her body. She could be the perfect weapon if she fell into the hands of villains.

"Before, you said the only things you ever consumed for nourishment for your core or brain was fiber and threads from stuffed animals, correct?"

"Yes."

"You never experienced any special strength or abilities?"

"No."

Principal Nezu nodded. "You said your Doll quirk gains nourishment by breaking down their surroundings and drawing material into your body. It seems that the type of the material you use to construct or nourish yourself is the strength of your body which possibly grants you strengths, and maybe weaknesses like your increased strength, speed, and your electrical attribute."

She could see why he was considered to have extremely high intelligence."You deduced all of that from a single video?" Elizabeth questioned. "Why do this for me?

"Because it is my duty to help my students."

Elizabeth remained silent, simply staring at Nezu with unblinking eyes. Nezu cleared his throat and smiled "Secondly, in order to help you I have decided to get you a weekend part-time job. You will work on Saturday and Sunday evenings."

"Why is that needed? Doesn't my parents send me money?" Elizabeth asked, confused.

Principal Nezu sighed. "I'm afraid your parents have decided to stop all payments. They have paid for the apartment for an entire year but won't be sending any more money."

Elizabeth lowered her head for a moment, staring at his desk. He stared at her, unable to tell what she was thinking, and even found himself distraught at not being able to read her so he could understand her thoughts better.

She raised her head, meeting his eyes. "I wish to move into a smaller apartment closer to the school." She asked without missing a beat.

"Alright," Nezu said, agreeing to her terms which was a better arrangement for her. "By the end of the day, your things will be moved to your new apartment and the refunded money transferred to your account Come to me after school for directions."

Elizabeth nodded."What are my options?"

"You can work at the local Supermarket which isn't too far from this school or work at Restaurant in the kitchen."

Working in the kitchen meant she would have to be around the fire and she had a strong aversion to fire thanks to her….body. "I will work at the Supermarket then."

Nezu nodded with a smile. "Good, I will make arrangements for you to start work this weekend," He pushed back his chair and stood up, "Lastly, I have arranged for you to have an hour of training with All Might after school during the weekdays."

"All Might? The Number One Hero?" Elizabeth questioned, wondering if she heard right, "Why would you do that? I don't need to learn to use my quirk."

"You do and I think some time with him will do you some good."

Elizabeth nodded. "If that is what you wish." She replied, as much as she wanted to go against his wishes he was still her acting guardian, even more so now that her parents left her.

"Great, now that is all settled," He looked at his clock, "you should get to class and prepare for your first-day orientation."

"First-day orientation?" Elizabeth questioned.

She looked at the paper and it said she was in class 1-A and silently walked down the hallway with her bag strapped to her back. She didn't understand why her parents completely cut her off from the family. She would have cried in this situation had she been human but sadly she didn't feel anything and for the first time she was actually grateful for her quirk.

She supposed it was only a matter of time before they fully washed their hands of her. She knew them so well that it's highly likely that her brother will never know about her in this lifetime. She wished she could see him one more time. Perhaps she will escape to her dreams, the only place where she was human, and dream of being in a happy family with her parents and baby brother.

She reached the classroom door and she pushed open the door, casually walking inside. She knew without looking that she was getting stared at by the other students. She faced her homeroom teacher and bowed her head.

"Isn't that the girl that placed #1 in the examination?"

"She's like so perfect.

"Sorry for my tardiness, Sensei." She said before raising her head and stared at him without blinking.

Shota Aizawa stared at the girl with a frown. "You can go and sit down." He said, allowing her to sit down in her seat before turning to the class. "I'm your homeroom teacher, Aizawa Shota," he said in a monotone voice.

Elizabeth stared at the teacher who is known as Eraserhead to the public. She wasn't like other people who had favorite heroes and idolized them. She knew them by seeing them on the television but that was where it started and ended. She didn't spare a glance at some of her classmates that were openly staring at her.

Shota dug into his sleeping bag and pulled out a blue outfit, displaying for the class. "Wear these immediately and then shove off to the P.E grounds," he said, leaving no room for argument.

Soon enough the entire class was standing on the training grounds in the blue outfits provided for them. The blonde stood behind everyone else, observing her human classmates. There were a few she could see that had mutant type quirks but that least they could still enjoy human pleasures.

She could never fit in with them. She was always the silent observer watching everyone else while she stood alone. Her eyes landed on Izuku who was also looking at her. He was somebody she could never forget. His humanness was always exposed for everyone to see.

He nervously walked up to her. "D-Darling-san, right?" He stuttered, with a smile.

"Yes, it is nice to see you again, Midorya-san." She replied, "Habit, correct?"

His eyes widened and he nodded with a smile. "Yeah..um-congrats on coming 1st in the examination. You scored lots of rescue points. D-did you know-"

"No, I didn't. I just did what I think a hero would do." Elizabeth interrupted, earning a strange look from him. Before he could reply he was pushed aside by a blonde hair boy who was glaring at her.

"HEY YOU DOLL FACE!" he yelled, pointing at her with an angry expression, "What sort of trick did you use to come 1st in the entrance exam!? FIGHT ME!"

Elizabeth stared at him, unmoving with a blank expression. "Who are you?" She replied, making his angry expression falter.

"D-Darling-san" Izuku called from next to her.

"You-"

"This class is so rowdy," Shota said loudly before he narrowed his eyes at Bakugo. "I'd appreciate it if you don't fight, Hot Head," He cleared his throat and addressed the class, "Today you're doing a quirk apprehension test."

"A QUIRK APPREHENSION TEST?!" said a short boy with purple balls on his head.

"What about the ceremony?! And the guidance counselor meeting?!" A girl with short brown hair asked.

"If you want to be Heroes, we don't have time for frilly niceties," Shota replied. "You all understand the school's reputation for freedom on campus. Well, that "Freedom" goes for us Senseis, too.

Softball pitch, standing long jump, endurance running, grip strength, sustained side-ways jumps, upper body exercises, seated toe-touch. These are all activities you know from middle school, naturally. Physical tests you were barred from using your quirks."

He turned to Bakugo. "How far were you able to throw in middle school?"

Bakugo smirked.

Elizabeth observed the proceedings, knowing their sensei wanted to show them a demonstration on how to throw the ball. Her physical capabilities were greatly increased now because she consumed the executioner during the examination. Even now, she could feel the electricity pulsing inside her body and it was the only thing she could actually feel.

"DIEE!" Bakugo screamed as he throws the ball with an explosive push and it flew through the air at a high speed

"What an interesting to say..." She spoke softly. Die? Really? She saw Izuku from the corner of her eye who was nervously shaking before looking away. She didn't know why but her eyes always found his form. She didn't like that.

"LET THE TRIALS BEGIN!" A red-haired boy shouted with a grin.

Trial 1: The 50 Meter Dash

She watched other people to the dash, earning the times they arrived at the finish lines. She was paired with an alien-like girl called Mina Ashido."Good luck Darling-san!" Mina cheerfully said with a large grin.

Not knowing her name, Elizabeth nodded. She got on her knees and stared at the finishing line and when the signal went off for her to go she darted from her spot and increased the lead between her and Mina. When she passed the finish line she skidded to a stop.

"Elizabeth Darling. Time: 5.20 seconds." the robot said.

She nodded and turned around to walk away only to find a smiling girl blocking her path. "That was really cool! I'm Uraraka Ochaho, nice to finally meet the girl who placed first in the entrance exams!"

Elizabeth stared at the girl. "Elizabeth Darling." She replied politely before turning away only to be blocked again. She recognized him from the auditorium.

"I'm Ida Tenya." a black hair boy smirked, pushing his glasses up on his nose, "What exactly is your quirk, Elizabeth-san?"

Elizabeth stared at him blankly before passing him without a single response or glance. She didn't care for fraternizing with them, especially about her quirk. It was bad enough she was going to this school, she didn't need these people prying into her business. She ignored their stares and stood alone on the field.

"What's wrong with her?" Someone said out loud.

She wanted to daydream if only for a minute. It always put her mind at ease but before she could commence her immersion Midoriya came up to her with an expression of concern.

"A-Are you alright?" He asked, looking at her with emotive green eyes. For the first time, her mind was sent into turmoil because someone showed genuine concern for her. It took a few seconds to respond.

"I...I am fine, Midoriya-san." Elizabeth replied flatly, "Forgive me if I sound a little cold. I am unable to show...emotion." She didn't know why she explained that to him and it surprised her because Principal Nezu is the only one who really knew about her quirk.

"I-Is it because of your quirk?" He asked with an excited gleam.

The blonde nodded. "I do not wish to discuss my quirk."

Izuku nodded.

"You did well on the meter dash, Midoriya-san." She added, surprising him.

"I-I don't think I did that well..." He mumbled.

Elizabeth remained silent before answering him. "Just do your best." She simply said.

Trial 2: Grip Strength Test

Elizabeth held the weight in her hand. She watched Mezo Shoji squeezed this and basically got the highest score out of everyone. She wondered how much she would score with her current strength.

"Hurry up, Doll Face!"

Elizabeth ignored the loud blonde and squeezed the weight tightly.

"Elizabeth Darling: 400.0kg!" The drone reported.

Elizabeth nodded and placed the weight down before walking away. She stood alone, watching as the others compete in the tests. Her thoughts drifted to her parents again and as much as she tried not to think about she couldn't help it. She was truly alone in this world. Her own baby brother will never know of her because she was a monster in her parent's eyes.

As the morning passed Elizabeth did well on all her tests and it was now time for the "Ball Throw" test. Elizabeth stood to the side waiting for Ochacho to throw the ball. With a weak throw, the ball went up and up and up. Elizabeth was impressed when the machine said INFINITY.

"INFINITY!? HOLY COW SHE GOT AN INFINITY!"

"Darling your turn," Aizawa said, looking at her.

"Of course, Sensei." The blonde replied, walking onto the pitch and taking the ball from his hand. She stared at the ball, wondering if her baby brother would have someone to throw a ball with him. She easily fell prey to her daydreams before Shota's voice pulled her from it.

"We don't have all day, Darling," Shota said, staring at her with a dull expression.

Elizabeth snapped out of her daydream and gripped the ball tightly. She called upon the electricity inside her body and immediately it surrounded the ball. She got into her stance and unleashed the ball.

BOOM!

Her throw kicked up dust and a ball covered in electricity could be seen sailing throw the air like a wishing star. When the ball landed it created a small explosion. The students were all silenced by her throw.

699.2m

"That is insane! What is her quirk?"

"That is almost as much as Bakugo."

Elizabeth stepped off the pitch and passed Izuku who was last. "Good luck, Midoriya-san," she said as she passed him.

He nodded hesitantly and walked on the field with a frightened expression. She found a spot that wasn't too close to other students and folded her arms, watching Izuku.

"Midoriya's not doing too well, is he?" Ida suddenly said out loud.

"Of course not! He's a quirk-less fucking guppy!" Bakugo yelled, pointing at Izuku.

"Quirk-less? Didn't you see what he did at the entrance exam?" Ida exclaimed.

"Midoriya-san." Elizabeth raised her voice, which somehow sounded soft, and silenced whatever Bakugo was going to say. Izuku looked at her with surprised eyes. "Keep calm, focus, and throw the ball."

It was as if her words flipped a switch in him and his nervous demeanor instantly changed. He gripped the ball tightly, ignoring everyone around him. He threw the ball with so much force that it kicked a plume of dust forcing the students to cover their eyes.

"705.3m" The drone reported.

Elizabeth nodded and was glad that he earned such a high score. Her eyes noticed his finger was broken from throwing the ball. "His quirk broke his finger?" She said softly.

"WHAT IS THIS DEKU!? EXPLAIN NOW, SHITRAG?" Bakugo screamed, rushing at Izuku with the intention of attacking him.

Before she could react Aizawa already had him restrained with his scarf.

"Guh, what is this cloth? I can't.. move..!" Bakugo hissed in anger.

"It's my special capturing weapon. A steel wire alloy weaved with carbon nanofibres. Jeez, don't make me use my quirk so much.." Aizawa groaned as his red eyes landed on Bakugo. "I've got DRY EYES DAMMIT!"

Elizabeth found herself walking up to Izuku."Are you alright, Midoriya-san" she asked, looking at his finger.

"I-I'm fine.." he said, holding his hand.

"Don't say you are fine if you're not." She said, looking at it, "you'll have to go to the infirmary to get it set."

"Th-thank you, Darling-san." Izuku stuttered.

"Are you two childhood friends?" Kirishima asked, looking at them with a grin.

Elizabeth looked at the red-haired boy. "No, we are not. We are just mere acquaintances and classmates," she said flatly, not noticing the sad expression that flashed across Izuku's face. She walked away without glancing back.

When school was over she reported to the school training grounds once again to meet up with All Might as per instruction by the Principal. She walked onto the training field her blue-grey eyes immediately found the most powerful man in Japan. Her eyes roamed over his muscular form that exuded power.

"Young Elizabeth!" He grinned, gesturing for her to come over, "welcome!

Elizabeth bowed her head. "It is nice to meet you, All Might."

He waved her off. "Principal Nezu told me about you."

"By that you mean he told you everything about me?" The blonde questioned with a tilt of her head.

"No, only details on your quirk." He replied, "but if you want to talk, you can talk to me."

"What will we be doing today?"

"Eager are we?" He raised an eyebrow. "I want to see your limitations so come at me with everything-"

She didn't even give him to finish before she was upon him with her fist drawn back. Her fist crackled with electricity and she threw her punch forward.

BOOM!

Her fist slammed into his palm and unleashed an electrical pulse that spread throughout the training ground. She wasn't surprised that he stopped her attack with just his palm. She jumped back and began attacking him wildly with him dodging her attacks easily.

She never fought or had any training in her life and she was sure the hero could see her embarrassing performance. She threw a kick that was easily blocked then a series of punches that were easily dodged. She jumped away from him, her eyes were still trained on the hero who didn't even break a sweat.

She channeled the last of the electrical energy in her body to spread outwards and her entire body was cloaked in its electrical claws. She didn't even know what she was doing but she could feel it trying to crawl its way up her throat and her mouth felt full. She opened her mouth and a beam of electricity shot from her mouth, producing a high-pitched sound and heading directly at All Might.

BOOM!

She lowered her, not even looking up when the explosion happened. She felt less weak than before now that no more electricity was in her body. It was like the circuits inside her had lost their energy and she was just a hunk of metal now. She knew it wasn't nourishment that she needed because her mind was still clear.

"Are you alright, Young Elizabeth?"

"I am." She replied before standing up.

He nodded. "Time for your evaluation. Your strength, speed, and endurance are good. However, since you had no formal training in combat your attacks are wild. That last attack was pretty powerful and is great as a secret move. Can you do it again?"

Elizabeth shook her head. "When I consumed the executioner inside me became metal and electrical circuits filled with electricity. Now it has run out. Perhaps I have to consume similar electronic material but I do not know if it will work."

All Might pondered her words before speaking. "Or you simply need to recharge."

"Recharge?"

"Yes, you probably just need a source of electricity. However, I may be wrong but you can still give it a try WITH supervision." He told her.

She nodded. "I understand."

"Now, come at me again." He grinned and she charged him once more.

The night, in her new apartment, sleep came to her just as easily as it always had. She greatly treasured her sleep as it was the most human thing she could do. She succumbed to her dreams. Falling deeper and deeper into it is clutches.

"Mother, can I give my baby brother some ice-cream?" Elizabeth smiled at her mother as they walked through a park. The sounds of other children laughing and adults smiling at their children made the entire scene wholesome.

"No baby, he is too small to eat ice-cream right now." Her mother replied.

"Fear not, Elizabeth, when Takumi gets older you can give him ice-cream." Her father told her.

Elizabeth nodded before running towards the swing. "Father and Mother, look at me!" She yelled before turning around only to find no one behind her. "Father? Mother?"

The park was empty.

She alone stood in the park.

"Mother?" She whimpered before she took off trying to find them. "FATHER?!"

It was like she was stuck in a loop. She could never leave the park and was abandoned by her family. She cried, screaming for help, for anyone to help her but no one came.

"Father? Mother? Why did you abandon me?"

Elizabeth bolts up from her bed, staring at the walls blankly. No expression showed on her face but her mind was in turmoil.

She just had her first nightmare.
