Thanks for the reviews they mean a lot now here we continue the story. It may at times seem like I don't know where I'm going with this story but trust me I am lol. This chapter doesn't start with Rizzles since all they are doing is flying to Paris but it sure ends with some including a surprise at the end. Read and enjoy!
It was around noon when Tommy was tired of waiting, he needed to talk to Frost, Cailin had just gone to Maura and Jane's because she decided that she and Camille needed to have an important conversation. He showed up at the precinct's cafe to wait until Frost went on his lunch break, Lydia had greeted him with a concerned look on her face.
"Hey Tommy, you look upset about something, penny for your thoughts," she asked, pouring him a cup of coffee.
He leaned back in the chair and took a sip of the coffee, "Yeah, I am pretty upset, but I think it's something that I just need to get over with. It's for everyone's well being. Being the bigger person does suck, but it's what's meant to be, I guess."
"Just like when I left Frank, you know he tries to call me and he sends me letters from jail," Lydia moved to sit down next to him, nobody else was here at the moment. "I am glad that I let him go, because what he did to you and your siblings just wasn't nice. I'm glad I noticed the type of man he was before it was too late."
"Yeah God forbid you had ended up getting hurt from him. But my situation isn't like that. The person I want to be with will be better off with someone else. Letting him go is going to be one of the hardest things that I have to deal with," he ran a hand through his hair, noticing Frost enter the cafe talking to Crowe about something. Frost caught a glimpse of Tommy and turned to Crowe to say his goodbye before heading over to him.
"Hey Lydia," Frost greeted avoiding eye contact with Tommy as Lydia stood up.
"If you need anything Detective Frost, just let me know, I'll be at the counter," she looked at him and then Tommy offering him a smile before getting back to work.
"Frankie told me you wanted to talk to me after I got off of work, I wasn't expecting to see you here," Frost mentioned as he slid onto a chair across from Tommy.
"I couldn't wait until then," he sighed, pushing the coffee aside. "I put a lot of thought into what I wanted to say to you," he paused for a moment. "Frost I love you, and I am always going to love you, but I can't make you happy. I know that it's true and I know you are miserable about your feelings for my brother because you are worried about how I will feel about it."
Frost looked at the youngest Rizzoli and frowned, "I wouldn't say that I'm miserable, more like conflicted. I will always worry about how you are feeling. I'm tired of hurting you, you mean a lot to me Tommy, you're a great guy, more than great, but we're like two completely opposite people. We've given us a shot but it just doesn't seem like it would work out in the long run. Don't think for a moment that I don't love you, because I do it's just, we could never truly work Tommy. I know it's hard to hear. I put a lot of thought into this as well."
Tommy felt his heart break hearing Frost say this, he didn't like to hearing this from Frost, even though he should have at least expected it. He sighed, rubbing his hands on his pants. "I can see how you and my brother look at each other. It's not the same as the way we used to look at each other, it's something more, you guys have this bond that we just don't have. And let's face it, he's been miserable since Gwen dumped his ass and well... if Frankie deserves someone in this world, it's you that can make him happy. You can make each other happy, more than I ever could."
"Can we still be friends?" Frost asked, looking up at him with sad eyes, and all Tommy wanted to do was kiss him and not let him go, but he knew he couldn't.
"I-I don't know if that's a good idea, I mean not for a while. Not being with you is already going to be hard enough, let alone seeing you with my brother," he stood up and left a five on the table. "I'm going to miss you Frost, we had a lot of good times, I'll never forget that."
"I'll never forget it either Tommy, you mean a lot to me, that will always be true," Frost looked up at Tommy before standing up as well, "Can I at least walk you to your car?" Tommy didn't say anything, he just nodded as he left the building with Frost in tow. When they reached Tommy's car, Frost looked at Tommy, just examining him. "Are you going to be alright?" Frost could tell that this was hurting Tommy, it was hurting him too but it was for the best that's what he had to tell himself.
Tommy just looked at Frost and shrugged, "I'm sure that I will be, you can't keep a Rizzoli down for long," he offered Frost a smile before taking his hand in his. "I'll be alright."
Frost squeezed his hand, "Do you promise me that you'll be alright and that you're not just saying that?"
"Can we not make this harder than it already is?" Tommy sighed, not really wanting to let the other man go, wanting to see what Frost would do. He just stood there, Frost still grasping onto his hand.
"Just promise me?" he asked, almost in a begging tone, Tommy didn't want to disappoint him.
"Okay Frost," he took his hand placing it over his heart. "I swear that I'll be alright, just don't worry about me, it's going to be okay," Tommy reassured him, stepping closer to him. "I just want you to be happy, that's all I ever wanted for you. Knowing you're happy will help me move on."
"I know," Frost didn't know why it was so hard to walk away from Tommy, this was proving to be very difficult, especially as Tommy pulled him as close as he could before pressing his lips hard against him. Frost almost lost his footing at how intense the kiss was. He groaned against Tommy's mouth, feeling him press him againt his car. Tommy's hand rested at Frost's tie, his tongue sliding into his mouth, Frost moaned softly as he held Tommy by his upper arms.
Frost was not expecting Tommy to grind down against him, Tommy pulled back regrettably but he was getting too turned on and that was not a good idea to follow through on it. "I-I should go," Tommy bit his bottom lip. "Goodbye Frost," he managed to get out.
Frost could see the sadness in Tommy's eyes. "Wait... don't go yet," he pulled him in for a kiss, this one was slow but you could feel the longing, his hand in Tommy's hair, tugging slightly. He nipped at Tommy's lips, his heart racing, knowing this would be the last time he ever got to kiss him, the last time he would ever be this close to the youngest Rizzoli. "Please take care of yourself," Frost stopped kissing him, and rested his hand on Tommy's cheek, his eyes glistening with tears. "I would hate it if anything bad happened to you."
"I know you would, I'll see you around," Tommy pulled away as much as he didn't want to, but he knew this was over and he got into his car. Tommy watched as Frost had slowly walked away and gone back inside the precinct. Tommy took a deep breath before driving off back to his house, wondering if Cailin would be there when he got back.
When Frost made it back inside he seen Crowe looking at him, "Hey man, how did it go? I mean besides the hot and heavy kissing you guys did."
Frost looked at him and he was not amused, "It's not polite to be a nosy shit Crowe," he pushed passed him, not wanting to deal with him. He went back to his desk and looked over at Frankie who was on the phone, he glanced over at Frost before hanging up the phone once his call was done.
"Are you alright Frost?" he could tell the level of sadness that his friend has possessed.
"Yeah, it's fine. It was harder than I thought talking to Tommy could be, harder to say goodbye. But it's for the best, that's what I have to keep on telling myself. Me and him were doomed to fail in the end as romantic partners. I just hope that he doesn't handle it the usual Tommy Rizzoli way, that's what worries me the most," Frost sighed, getting back to his paperwork.
"To be honest, that worries the hell out of me too," Frankie admitted.
Cailin was at Jane and Maura's as Camille was putting the twins down for a nap. Cailin took it upon herself to make a sandwich while she waited for Camille to come back downstairs. She was dreading this talk, but she didn't want them to end things like last night. If there was anything Cailin hated it was not getting proper closure from a relationship, even if it didn't feel very serious.
She poured herself a glass of juice when she heard Camille come back down. "Did you want some?" Cailin asked and Camille shook her head.
"No I'm fine, I'm sort of concerned as to why you are here though, you made it pretty obvious of your feelings last night. My kids keep asking if I'm okay because of how upset our talk made me," Camille sat down at the island. "I don't like my kids worrying about my well being."
Cailin frowned, "Look I'm sorry, but I thought we were on the same page of our relationship," she took a bite of her sandwich. "You didn't want to rush things, or get too serious until I got my career started, those were your words when we started going out. I say one thing to Jane and Maura about possibly wanting to get married in the future and then you talk about me adopting your children so they can have two parents. I am not old enough to even consider being a mother and I'm still trying to figure my life out."
"That's what I don't understand, you knew I had kids but you wanted to date me, usually when someone dates a person with kids it's because they want to experience that feeling of being a parent, that they want kids," Camille frowned. "You mean a lot to them you know? I never usually let my kids meet my partners until I know they are ready to, and I thought you were ready, apparently I was wrong."
"I'm sorry okay? I didn't mean to hurt you, but apparently we both want different things right now. I love you Cami, I do but this is going too fast, but I ask for one thing, please do not punish Jane and Maura and stop letting them see the twins, they love them so much and I would hate if they got hurt because I was the one being the idiot."
"I wouldn't do that to them, they mean a lot to me and my kids, for you to even suggest that I would do such a thing clearly shows what you really think of me," Camille shook her head, standing up. "I think you should go."
"I didn't mean it like that Cami, I wasn't suggesting anything, I just know how it is, I've seen it happen, people break up and then they cut off any connection they had with that person's family members," Cailin tried to explain and she just shook her head.
"I think we should stop seeing each other," Camille ran a hand through her hair. "It's obviously not going to work out between us."
Cailin went to grab a sandwich bag from the cabinet, shoving her sandwich in it, putting her empty glass of juice in the sink. "Yeah I get that. I'm sorry that I couldn't give you what you truly wanted. I can't be a family, I am still trying to have a better relationship with my own. Goodbye Camille, sorry to have disappointed you and the twins," she sighed and left the kitchen and went to go sit on the porch, waiting for the Uber she called to pick her up.
Camille just sat there in the kitchen once Cailin left and sighed at the silence that took over the house, "I swear I'm never dating again."
When Tommy made it back to his place and noticed that Cailin wasn't there he decided to go to his mother's house. He made a promise to Frost that he was going to be alright and Tommy wanted to keep that promise as long as he possibly could and he couldn't if he was home alone in his thoughts. He arrived to his mother's and rang the door bell.
Angela opened the door minutes later, she was wearing her robe, "Hi, what a surprise seeing you here," she greeted Tommy and stepped to the side to let him in. She closed the door once he was inside, he kicked his shoes off putting them by the door. "What do I owe this pleasure of your presence?"
"You seem to be in a good mood today Ma, better than I heard that you were last night."
"Well Vince had made it up to me. I just needed some self assurance is all."
"I bet that he did, I'm glad that he was able to. I hope that I wasn't interrupting anything," he took in his mother's appearance, she was glowing.
"You weren't interrupting anything, Korsak is just taking a shower. You know he's taking me to Niagara Falls. We're leaving later today, we figured I am still capable of doing something instead of feeling like a prisoner in my own home. I always wanted to go there and glad I get to do it before I have to start raising another child. It's sort of like our late honeymoon," Angela got her leftover smoothie from the fridge in the kitchen. "So we gotten off the subject as to why you came to visit."
"I didn't feel like being alone," Tommy sat down. "Frost and I well... we're sort of over, decided it was time to move on and not have him spend all his time and emotions worried on if I was going to be alright. I gave Frankie my blessing to be with him if that's what they both want and I'm sure that it is. Your husband was never really fond of me for Frost, I mean I don't think anybody was. I'm trying to change Ma, but I feel like it's pointless. I had to let him go I couldn't make him happy, now Frankie can get what he always wanted and I get to start a new life for myself."
"I'm sorry that it had to end between you and Frost," she sat down next to her son. "All I want is for my kids to be happy, I want you to be happy too. You know being in a relationship isn't everything, you have a career and your health."
"Ma, that's a really lame thing to say," he couldn't help but laugh at her words. "Career and health but I still feel like a pretty shitty person. I blame Pop, he was never a good influence on me, sometimes I wish I wasn't related to him at all. Maybe things would be different."
"If I hadn't gotten with your father I wouldn't have my three incredible children, I am thankful for that Tommy, and you should be too. You guys mean the world to me, even if it meant having to be married to that horrid man. But things have worked out and you will feel better eventually Tommy, break ups are hard. At least you didn't spend over 30 years being with the wrong person."
"Yeah I guess you're right."
"Of course I'm right sweetheart. I'm your mother," she smiled, patting his knee.
Tommy just looked at his mother with a frown before smirking, "That's your explanation for everything."
"Is there any better explanation besides me being your mother?" Angela was glad she got Tommy to smile.
"No, I guess not. I'm glad that I'm your son. I hope you and Vincent enjoy your trip to Niagara Falls," he patted his mother's hand. "Let him know I'm glad that he was able to make you happy again. You should check on him, he's taking a long time with that shower," Tommy got up from the couch.
"Are you going to be alright Tommy?"
The young Rizzoli nodded his head, "Yeah I'll be fine eventually. No need to worry about me. You just enjoy your husband and that trip. I'll see you around Ma."
Angela got up from the couch and gave Tommy a hug, "Take good care of yourself sweetie."
"I will Ma, bye," he kissed her cheek before leaving, heading back home. Maybe another trip away is what I need, he thought to himself, but then he remembered that Korsak was taking a few days off so he couldn't really go anywhere. He would just have to come back after a few hours, he still needed to get some things first.
When he arrived home he got inside and seen Cailin sitting on his couch, a beer in her hand. "A little early to be drinking, isn't it?" he went to sit down next to her. "Did you go see Camille?"
Cailin just glanced up at him and nodded, "You're one to talk, you day drink a lot. And yeah, if I said it was a disaster it would be an understatement, I shouldn't have gone to see her... so how was your talk with Frost?"
"It well as it could be, saying goodbye seemed to be hard for both of us, at least I know what Frost felt for me was real, I guess that's something," he grabbed the beer from her hand and took a large gulp. "Did you want to talk about what happened last night?" Tommy didn't really tell Frankie what happened last night when they talked about it.
"No I kind of don't," Cailin took the beer back. "It was dumb and foolish, I made a complete fool out of myself, let's just forget the whole thing."
Tommy shrugged, "Alright, we don't have to talk about it. I had to tell Frankie nothing happened between us, I figured that you felt bad enough already about what happened. It was nice though, knowing you have the hots for me, it was a real confidence booster after the week I had been having."
"Yeah well, I shouldn't have told you that, you got confident and bold and I let it just happen, well not like I didn't want it, but still," she swirled the beer around in her bottle before downing the rest of it.
"It was nice feeling wanted and craved, at least we didn't get too carried away," he got up from the couch and got two beers from the fridge, handing her one when he sat back down.
"We're both kind of screw ups," she opened the drink and took a sip. "I guess what happened wasn't too crazy or unexpected, although I thought you were gay."
"I'm more of a fluid being, I mean I did have feelings for Maura, and I'm definitely attracted to women."
Cailin smirked, and tapped her beer bottle against Tommy's, "Yeah I could tell. You know if we're being honest, I have a thing for your sister, it kind of shrunk once she married my sister, but it's still there. Why does your family have to be so damn attractive?"
"It's a curse and a blessing I guess," he smirked. "So, my sister huh?"
"I'm pretty sure it's her voice that gets me going," Cailin blushed at her honesty. "Maura is so friggin' lucky."
"So is Jane, but they work and at least someone gets a happy ending," Tommy shrugged. "Wouldn't dare come between them."
"Ain't that the truth," she rested her head against his shoulder. "I'm sorry that it didn't work with you and Frost."
"And I'm sorry that it didn't work out for you and Camille, here's to two lonely souls who apparently are bad at romance," he looked at her and smiled. "Their loss right?"
Cailin looked up at him, "Yeah, but what do people say, what's their loss is someone else's gain."
"Yeah, something like that," he rested his hand on her leg.
She blushed at his hand on her and took their beers, putting them on the table. "I mean since we are both screw ups, there's honestly nothing else left to lose."
"And what exactly are you thinking?" Tommy couldn't seem to be reading her signals very well.
"Like you said we're two lonely souls, I say why be upset about it, and just do something that makes us happy, because happiness doesn't seem to come to us very well."
"I think it's because we both feel like outcasts is why we get on so well Cailin," he moved his hand from her leg, and just looked at her. "No regrets?"
"The only thing I have to regret is pitying myself," she smiled up at him. "I guess what happened wasn't a complete mistake last night, minus me being drunk off my ass. Not my greatest hour, I don't think I ever thanked you for letting me stay over on the couch last night."
"You know, I was going to go on a drive for a few hours, but I don't see the point of going anywhere right now."
Cailin stared at him, "Well, what are you waiting for? You going to kiss me or not?"
Tommy shrugged, "Guess I was just waiting for permission, are you sure that would be okay?"
She nodded and wrapped her arms around him, pulling him into a short kiss. "What do you think?" she muttered against him. "No regrets, remember?"
Jane was glad when the plane ride was almost over, seven hours on a flight, and if it wasn't for Maura she would be a mess. Short plane rides she could handle, but this was something else. She managed to take a two hour nap, she had woken up to Maura nudging her awake and the flight attendent telling the plane they were about to land. "Jane, are you sure that you don't want to look out of the window? Paris at night is so beautiful."
Jane rubbed her eyes and shook her head, "I um... no I'm good. I'll look at it once we're on the ground."
"Come on Jane, be the strong woman I fell for," she grabbed Jane's hand. "Please, do it for me?" she asked with sad eyes and Jane groaned.
"Okay, and don't look at me like that, you know I can't say no to that face," she smirked, before leaning over and looking down at Paris and the lights. Jane looked over at Maura, "You know it is kind of beautiful out there."
"Told you," Maura smiled before bringing Jane into a kiss. Jane smiled at how their bodies pressed together in their seats, Jane pulled back.
"Save that for later," she winked and she held onto Maura's hand when they started to land. "I'm not going to get used to this time change. It's ten PM here."
"You didn't have to take a nap," Maura pointed out.
"Well there wasn't anything else to do, plus my mouth sort of got tired from all that kissing we were doing," Jane squeezed her fingers.
"I think that was a very productive use of our time," Maura grinned and Jane smirked.
"Yeah, I guess it was. I don't even know why I'm complaining."
"Me either, you didn't complain once with all that sex we had last night."
"Why would I complain about our sexual encounters? I'm an addict, remember?"
"It's not such a bad addiction to have, considering all the other ones people have in their lives. That sexual addiction group we went to was probably a waste of time," Maura shrugged and Jane nodded.
"At least our yoga sessions weren't a waste of time, not like we got much yoga done," Jane was glad they were discussing something to distract her from the landing of the plane. "Thank God, we're finally on solid ground."
Soon they were off the plane and out of the airport. Jane had turned her phone on to text her mother that she had made it, and made a few other texts, before putting her phone in her pocket as they had finally been able to catch a cab. Jane and Maura put their bags in the back before getting in. Jane gave the driver the address of the hotel they were staying at. "Ma says her and Korsak are taking a trip to Niagara Falls, it's good that she's going out, I knew she was miserable staying at home all the time," Jane leaned back against the seat, she felt her phone vibrate and she pulled it out and replied to the text message. On the way to the hotel, and yes Maura is very excited and she doesn't expect a thing.
The ride to the hotel was mainly spent in silence and Jane was looking over her phrases of French she wrote in her book. When the cab pulled up to the hotel Jane handed him the fare, "Merci pour le trajet. Passez une bonne soirée." She couldn't help but grin as she noticed the way Maura's eyes lit up as she spoke French.
They got out of the car and got their bags out of the trunk, "That was kind of hot Jane."
Jane smirked, "Thanks. There's more where that came from," she grabbed her free hand as they went inside their hotel, it was a few blocks from the Eiffel Tower. They walked up to the front desk. The woman looked up at them. "J'ai une chambre réservée sous le nom de Rizzoli-Isles." Jane showed her their IDs.
"Bienvenue, enjoy your stay," the woman handed her the key as Jane signed for the room.
"Merci," Jane smiled as the woman slid their ID's back.
They made their way to the elevators, Jane's hotel key in her hand, Maura smiling up at her wife. "I'm like really impressed Jane, and you didn't even need to take your book out. You know I never thought of the day I would hear Jane Rizzoli speaking French."
"Makes you weak in the knees, doesn't it?" Jane wrapped an arm around Maura's shoulders.
"Especially with that voice of yours," Maura leaned up and kissed Jane's cheek. "Mon amour."
"Maybe after this trip I could still speak French to you, since you like it so much," Jane suggested when they made it to their floor.
"I like anything you do when you think of me."
"Well good because you are always on my mind, there isn't a moment where some part of my brain isn't thinking about you."
"Mostly dirty thoughts, I take it?" Maura asked and Jane laughed.
"Actually sometimes those dirty thoughts come less to mind than you'd think," she looked around for the room, finding it and putting her bags down to open the door.
"Why don't I believe that?" Maura shook her head entering the room.
"Because it's hard to believe coming from me, but I assure you that it's true," Jane closed the door and put the bags by the mini fridge, she went to open it and smiled, "Hey they even had to courtesy to put the strawberries and chocolate with the wine I ordered in here. Thought they would bring that up later. I like this place," she noticed that Maura found out the room had a small balcony, she went over to her.
"I can't believe the view from this place," Maura looked out and she could see the Eiffel Tower. "This place must have cost a fortune."
"If it did it's worth every penny," Jane stepped up behind her, wrapping her arms around her waist, kissing the side of her head. "You deserve only the best Mrs. Rizzoli-Isles," she smiled. "I'm going to shower while you enjoy the view and then we could enjoy the strawberries and wine. That sound like a good idea?"
"That sounds perfect," Maura looked at Jane with a smile. "I think I like you calling me that, Rizzoli-Isles."
"Yeah, well I enjoy saying that, my lovely wife," she let go of her and stepped back. "I won't take too long," Jane smiled, before heading to the bathroom to take a quick shower to wash off the plane and cab ride.
Maura enjoyed the view a little bit more before she took the strawberries and chocolate out of the fridge, and poured them two glasses of wine. "Oh she ordered that real classy stuff. She sure knows how to treat me right," she took a sip of the wine and licked her lips. She took her wine glass and stood on the balcony a little while until she heard the shower stop before coming back inside.
"This place has great water pressure," Jane mentioned as she came out of the bathroom, drying her hair with a towel. "And soft towels. I'm not sure I'm going to want to leave this place."
"I might have to hold you to that Jane, this city is absolutely breathtaking," Maura smiled, putting down her wine glass. "I apologize for starting the wine without you, this is good stuff."
"I just want you to enjoy yourself here babe," Jane kissed her cheek before heading back to the bathroom to finish what she was doing. She smiled to herself once she heard a knock on the hotel room door and a man shout out room service. "Hey Maur, you mind answering that."
"Yeah of course, who knew they had room service this late it's almost eleven thirty," Maura went to go open the door, not knowing what Jane had planned, and she was most definitely not expecting to see the man standing there in front of her, she never thought she'd see him in person ever again. "Paddy," she stood there in complete shock.
"Hey Maura," he smiled at her, and looked over at Jane who was smirking. "Evening Jane. It's nice seeing you girls again."
Korsak is taking Angela on a much needed trip, Cailin and Tommy are making mistakes together and Paddy makes an appearance (that's the surprise). Until next time my friends.
