Before anybody asks me, no. I am not a fan of Agent Booth. I'm not the biggest fan of Dr. Brennan either, but she does have her redeeming moments. This chapter is from when Booth wants the chair and Brennan basically calls Sweets and idot for assuming Booths leg shake was him wanting to leave because he's done in multiple times. Disclaimer: I do not own Bones or any of the characters shown there!

Chapter 2

"Stop." Dr. Brennan interrupted finally raising her head.

Sweets looked at her very offended "Dr. Brennan, you can't dismiss over a hundred of years of psychological research-"

"I'm not even actually listening" Brennan said still distracted slapping Booths bouncing leg, and then the other one when it started bouncing. "Your leg has not stopped moving since we started the session" she snapped at him, while holding down the other one then when it started bouncing. "Something you should have noticed" she finished while pointing at Sweets.

"I assumed he was anxious to leave, as he is every session." Sweets explained while practically rolling his eyes. Then he realized exactly what Brennan had told him. Again.

"Hold on. You weren't even listening? You know what. I'm done. I've tried and I've tried, but you are always dismissing my degree, dismissing research just because you don't believe in psychology, and basically calling me an idot every session we have! Get out. Now." He demanded while pointing to the door. "I have been nothing but nice and courteous to the both of you, and all you do in return is call me an idiot and refuse to treat me with even the most basic of human respects! I can understand why you were suspicious of me when you thought I was Gormogon, you didn't know me, and you didn't want to believe it was one of you."

Brennan started to open her mouth to interrupt and Booth started to stand up to try and intimidate Sweets into compiling by giving him the Booth look.

"No!" Sweets snapped, standing up and glaring at both of them. "Do not interrupt me! I understand how hard it was on you to find out that it was Zach, and I know that I didn't earn any points by arguing about the decision to put him in the insane asylum, but I didn't know him like you guys do. All I knew about him was what was inside of his file. All of my other attempts to get to know any of you past the information in your files was met with hostility and anger. I understand now that Zach would not have survived one day in jail, and so yes, I can see now that the insane asylum was a much better choice for him." At this he sat back down heavily throwing the files onto the table while closing his eyes and rubbing the bridge of his nose sighing heavily. Booth and Brennan just looked at him in shocked silence unaware that Sweets felt like that.

"Sweets-" Brennan tried, "No." He replied. "Don't try and comfort me with empty words that you and I both know that you don't mean. I now recognize that neither of you will ever respect me or what I do." Dropping his hands he looked at them with a look neither of them had seen on his youthful face. "Did you really think that I would just sit here and take all of your disrespect? That you two could treat me however you want and I'll come running like a good little puppy when he's told to heel, and when you decide that you don't need me anymore that I would go away and be grateful that I was able to be in the presence of the great and powerful Booth and Brennan?"

Brennan looked at Booth confused not quite understanding what was going on but Booth couldn't take his eyes off of Sweets. "I never knew that you felt like that Sweets, I would have never-"

Sweets just looked at him. "You would have never what. Never talked badly about me behind my back? Or even worse, to my face? Never treated me like garbage and expected me to take it like a good little puppy that you can call whenever you want and then send away as soon as you decide that you don't need them anymore?" He sighed. "Face it Booth. You knew how you were treating me, you just didn't care. You never care when you treat some one like crap, you just decide that it's their fault for being too sensitive, and that they don't understand humor. That they can't take a simple joke." At this he leaned forward with his arms on his legs and looked at both of them. "The truth of the matter is the fact is that it is you who cannot take a joke Agent Booth. You belittle those around you, and if any of them try and stand up to you or joke back you give them the Booth look until they back down or you tell them that only your allowed to joke or you change the subject and tell them to go do a task that you know is gong to be hard on them to 'put them in their place'." he said using air quotes at the end. "You call Dr. Brennan's interns and anyone who works with her Squints while not even caring to learn their names or anything about them. You call the Jeffersonian the Squint lab and even while talking to a suspect you can't call them by their names or even call them the staff, instead you belittle them even to a suspect. You do remember that all the interrogations are recorded, correct? If Dr. Brennan was so inclined she could ask for the tapes to be pulled and you could face disciplinary action for not being able to treat people with respect. Or if the staff at the Jeffersonian finally got tired of your treatment of them they could lodge a complaint against you?"

Booth just looked at him silently, not able to say anything, because he knew that everything Sweets had just said was true. Sweets just looked at them daring either of them to say anything. Brennan looked back at him opening her mouth to say something, but was interrupted by both hers and Booths cellphones ringing. Both of them looked at Sweets apologetically but he just motioned for them to answer, as he knew that both of the phones going off meant that there was a new murder to be solved. They both answered and turned to leave the room, both resolving to discuss what Sweets had told them in the car and with their peers.

I realize I made Sweets a lot more confrontational than he is in the show, but everybody has a breaking point. It is said in the show that Booth is always anxious to leave, meaning that Sweets dismissing his leg bouncing as nothing more than a want to leave is completely justified, and he did not deserve for Dr. Brennan to basically call him stupid for thinking that it was simply Booth showing in a more physical way than normal that he wanted to get it over with and leave. Especially with how he treated his first therapist.
