Hi hi hi! I hath returned after spending way too many hours on Age of Calamity... BUT on the bright side, it's helping me get my ideas for the fic as I'm basing it off that.
So, I shall not ramble too much for now~
Disclaimer: Serina, Jayne, and Daniel are my OCs and the rest of the lovely Zelda characters are Nintendo's~
Now without further ado~
Chapter 2 – The Journey Begins
The three friends spent their time preparing everything they needed for their long journey. After gaining more details on their mission, they learned that they'll be going to Zora's Domain, Rito Village, Gerudo Town, and Goron City. There, they will find those who are skilled enough to pilot the Divine Beasts.
Serina stood in her room making sure her jacket was in decent shape before slipping it on. It had a couple large pieces of cloth attached to the back. It took her a couple of years to perfect the design, and even now she still has to make small adjustments. But since she made it, she goes nowhere without it. She equipped two swords along with her bow and quiver, then gave her room one final scan before exiting to the hallway.
Link and Jayne met with her in the Main Hall, where Daniel stood with them, awaiting to give them his last words of advice. Serina's dread only felt heavier as she stood before her father, not knowing when exactly she'd see him again.
"I'm confident that you three are the best people to send with the Princess and Impa." He spoke, "I'm sure the road will be full of surprises given the scale of the recent attacks, so keep your guards up at all times. But most importantly, protect the Princess with everything you have, and come home safely."
The three nodded and saluted their Captain. Daniel sighed and stepped towards his daughter, pulling her into his arms.
"I won't be there to keep you safe this time… you'd best take good care of yourself." His voice was stern, yet it wavered as he hesitated to let Serina go, "Now's the time to use everything you have, I don't know what you'll be up against… so you give it your all to come home in one piece."
"I will, Sir…" Serina mumbled into his shoulder, "I won't let you down, I promise… I won't let anyone down."
Daniel smiled at her, kissing her head for the last time, "You've come a long way, Little Warrior, I know you won't."
She smiled at him, her heart aching as she stood with Jayne and Link, "Love you, Papa."
"And I you…please.. be careful." He said, seeing them off as they exited the Main Hall.
They made their way towards the edge of Castle Town, there the Princess and Impa were waiting for them. As they walked, Serina let out a heavy sigh. Link placed a hand on her shoulder, and Jayne smiled at her.
"He'll be okay," he said, "And so will we."
"Yeah! You should be excited! We're going on an adventure!" Jayne piped, smiling brightly.
Serina chuckled a bit at Jayne's excitement, "I am excited… I just can't help but worry."
"We all worry, but that's why we do what we do. So we can ease those worries and keep everyone safe." Jayne said matter-of-factly.
"She's right," Link nudged Serina's shoulder, "That's what your father taught all of us."
A soft smile tugged at the corners of Serina's mouth, remembering how Link and Jayne were a part of her training. The three of them met as children, and through their training, motivated each other when things got hard. Through the years, they became the best of friends. Which meant they worked as a team immaculately. As individual warriors, they were all able to handle themselves well. But from day one, they always worked together. Daniel even knew better than to split the three up.
Together they all had the same passion and goal. They all wanted to keep Hyrule safe, to give the people a reason to feel secure and carefree. Through all their years as knights together, they've become a small family.
The group soon made it to the edge of town where Princess Zelda stood with Impa and a small, guardian-looking robot. Serina furrowed her brows at the small contraption and Jayne immediately wanted a closer look.
"Where did this little guy come from?" Serina inquired.
"We found him on the battle field the other day!" Impa chirped, kneeling down next to the small robot, "He seems to have some type of connection to the Princess, and Purah ended up extracting some useful data~ So we decided to bring him along with us."
"I think he's cute!" Jayne smiled, reaching out to touch it only to have her hand smacked away by the tiny guardian, "Hey, I gave you a compliment!"
"Maybe he doesn't want his personal space invaded, Jayne." Serina joked.
"Oh… good point." Jayne gave Serina's joke some deep thought, then stood up beside her, "Sorry little guy."
The small guardian beeped in response, almost as if accepting Jayne's apology. Serina tilted her head, Smart little thing. She thought.
"Are you all ready to go?" The Princess inquired.
They nodded and Impa was quick to pull out a map.
"So! It looks like this is our best route to Zora's Domain. It's been quite some time since we've seen Mipha, but I know she'd be the perfect Pilot for Vah Ruta." She spoke.
"With King Dorephan's permission of course." Zelda added.
"I think it'll be nice to catch up with Mipha again." Jayne smiled.
"Yes, it has been quite some time hasn't it." Zelda returned the smile.
With that, their journey began as they traveled to the Lanayru Providence. Hoping to gain Mipha as an ally to their mission.
….. In Zora's Domain …..
"You wish for my daughter to Pilot Vah Ruta?" King Dorephan sat in his throne, pondering the idea, "And yet, the knight who is meant to seal the Calamity has not been found yet… am I correct?"
Zelda stood in front of the King with Jayne, Impa and Serina all behind her.
The Princess hesitated before she spoke, "Er… Yes.. this is true."
A hum of disapproval rumbled in Dorephan's chest. Serina and Jayne exchanged worried glances.
"This is surely a perilous mission… and I'm afraid I cannot allow my daughter to be a part of it." He spoke.
Zelda's eyes widened and she stepped forwards a bit, "But Your Majesty-"
"Your Highness!"
One of the Zora soldiers came rushing into the throne room, his eyes were full of panic as he caught his breath.
"Monsters have been spotted on the mountain!" the soldier sputtered out.
King Dorephan stood up from his throne, towering over his Hylian visitors even more so than he already did.
"Where are Mipha and Sidon?" He immediately questioned.
"I think she's with Link at the Domain's entrance." Zelda spoke, her eyes filling with determination, "We shall help you find them and get them to safety."
King Dorephan nodded, then turned to face the soldier, "Prepare our defenses, we must protect the Domain."
Serina stood next to Zelda, exchanging a determined glance with her, "We'll help protect the Domain as well, Your Majesty."
"Please find them." He said, "I will join the defense."
The group hurried towards the Domain's entrance. The Zora soldier followed them and they quickly crossed the bridge that led to the mountain the monsters were coming from.
Link stood with Mipha and the tiny Guardian and took note of his friends and the Princess running up to them.
"Princess Mipha!" The Zora soldier called, "There are monsters on Polymus mountain!"
Mipha turned her head towards the group, "What of my father?"
"He's preparing our defenses, their numbers are large so we must protect the Domain." The Zora soldier said, scanning the area around them, "He… thought the Prince was with you?"
"Sidon is missing?" Mipha gasped.
"We'll help you find him." Jayne smiled, "The more people searching the better."
"Perhaps we should split up," Zelda spoke, "Mipha, Serina and Jayne go look for Sidon. Impa, Link and myself can assist the outposts as much as we can."
Mipha nodded and looked towards the soldier, "You join the defense, I will help as well once we find Sidon."
Jayne and Serina went with Mipha to start asking the other soldiers if they had seen Sidon recently.
"If he wasn't with you, then maybe one of the guards would have seen him?" Serina inquired.
"It's possible, I'm not sure where else to start looking." Mipha sighed, "Well ask the captains at the outermost outposts, he can't have gone too far."
Alrighty! I apologize for kinda zooming into Zora's Domain so quick, but I had an unfortunate case of writer's block at that point. BUT that's not the case for everything following this, so I hope to have more out soon!
I hope you all enjoyed and stay tuned for what's to come! :D I shall see you all then :3
