Alright, let's be honest, this story has kinda sucked. Or the chapters were just short. Even this one is. Either way, I'm not proud of it. I'll go back and edit, but I can promise that Deathly Hallows will be better. As a result, it'll be a bit before it gets published. I want to do this right. Leave a review giving feedback. Don't hold back.

Song of the Chapter: Undertale by Toby Fox (5th anniversary one would be better)

Hermione

It wasn't the best day for Hermione. Percy and Harry had gone off with Dumbledore to get a Horcrux, which already made her nervous, but before they left, Harry had warned her, Ron, Ginny and Lavender about Death Eaters and gave them his Felix Felicis. That made her even more nervous. And then Death Eaters did come.

That just made her downright terrified.

Again, it wasn't the best day.

"Found something!" Lavender's voice said. They had been in pure darkness thanks to Malfoy, and it appeared they had finally found a way out of the corridor they were in. They went up the staircase that Lavender had found and gasped at the sight that met them. It turned out, they were in the Astronomy Tower, or, what was left of it, anyway. Everything at the top was completely destroyed.

"What the bloody he** happened here?" Ron asked as they stepped in. Hermione saw something shiny and when she looked closer, saw a slab of metal. She went to pick it up, but even before touching it felt incredible heat coming from it. She looked at it closer and saw a separate piece that read ric Gry. The rest of the letters were gone.

"I think someone used Fiendfyre," she said.

"What?" Ginny said.

"Cursed fire."

"Why do you think someone used it?" Lavender asked her. Hermione pointed to the metal. "What else could have destroyed Gryffindor's Sword?"

"What?" All three said in disbelief, coming over to where she was. She showed it to them and they all stood in silence. "What happened here?" Ginny asked. Ron walked around the room for a bit before saying "Hey, look at this." They went over to where he was and he pointed to one of the holes in the wall that she hadn't really paid attention to. They all had broken pipes and water dripping from them.

"Percy," she said quietly. He was there. Suddenly, she heard a cracking noise. It was beneath the floor. She put her ear to it and realized it was the floor. "Get out!" She told the others frantically. The floor was crumbling beneath them, falling behind them as they rushed out. "I guess cursed fire isn't good for the building," Ron said. They laughed, and left the tower. Luckily, the darkness was gone and they were able to see clearly. The halls were eerily empty and quiet. It was outside where the noise was.

"Fight back!" She heard Harry's voice faintly. "Fight back, you cowardly - "

He was cut off, and Hermione got nervous. She heard his voice again, but she wondered what could have made him so mad. They went outside to the grounds and saw that people were there, and it seemed like they had missed what happened. She didn't see Percy, but she noticed Hagrid's hut seemed like it had been on fire. "What's going on there?" Ron asked, pointing to a small gathering at the bottom of the Astronomy Tower. They went over, and she saw Percy. He saw her as well and left the crowd, running to hug her. At that moment, she forgot everything. All that mattered to her was that Percy was alive, and they were safe in each other's arms. When they pulled apart, she saw that he looked horrible. His right arm looked red and hurt, his clothes were drenched with sweat, and she saw tear streaks that broke through the dirt on his face. "What happened?" he asked him. He smiled. "I could ask you the same thing." She looked down at herself and saw that she was covered in powder and debris, but she didn't think she looked so bad. "What's over there?" She asked him. His smile faded and he led her over to where everyone was. She gasped and brought her hand to her mouth, tears filling her eyes.

Lying there, at the bottom of the tower, was the lifeless body of Albus Dumbledore.

"Snape," Percy said, his voice full of hate. She heard him, but didn't react then. Then, all that she knew was that the greatest wizard she had ever known was dead.

~no joke or sarcasm here. Dumbledore is dead. Mourn~

Percy and Harry had told them what happened, and she didn't understand how Snape could have fooled them all.

Even she thought he could be trusted.

She knew she wasn't always right, but did trusting Snape have to be one of those things?

The funeral didn't do anything for her, either. The speaker said many things about Dumbledore, but none were how she remembered Dumbledore. She didn't remember Dumbledore as someone who was great or noble. She remembered him as the silly old wizard that could always make her smile, even when she thought she couldn't. When the eulogy was done, and the funeral was over, Percy went to the white tomb of Dumbledore and said four words. Just four.

"Nitwit, blubber, oddement, and tweak." Percy said, smiling. She smiled as well. They went over to where Harry was standing, and she saw Ginny walking away. "You dumped her?" Percy asked in disbelief. Harry nodded. "It's too dangerous." She and Percy exchange a look. "Well, I'm getting deja vu," Percy said with a smile. "What now?"

"Now, we get the rest of the Horcruxes," Harry said, staring at the fake locket in his hands. The one that Dumbledore had drained his strength for. "We will," Ron said. Harry turned around and looked at him and Hermione. "I meant Percy and I," Harry said.

"You told us once that there was time to turn back if we wanted to," Hermione said softly. "We've had time, haven't we?"

"We'll be there for you, mate," Ron said, putting his arm around Harry. "Until the end," Hermione said, doing the same. "Well don't forget about me!" Percy said, putting his arms around them all. "I may not have been there with you all these years, but I can promise I value your friendship just as much as these two do."

They all smiled. And Hermione had a lot of questions in her head. How would they find the Horcruxes? How would they destroy them? And how would the prophecy play out?

But for now, she tucked those questions away in the back of her mind. All she thought about was the last day of peace they would have together before the Horcrux hunt began.

I see people bashing Dumbledore a lot, and I don't get it. Some may see him as manipulative, but that doesn't mean he was the worst person in the series. Also, my childhood is already going down. This will not be taken away.
