CHAPTER 1
Guild master's advice
The repeated sound of wheels on the dirt and the continuous sound of coins filled the ears of the person inside the carriage.
The person inside sighs as they look outside, this person was Granger or known by many as 'The Death Chanter' he was traveling back into the land of the Moniyan empire to have a break from any quests, as ordered by the Guild master.
-A few hours before-
Granger walks in with his usual aura making every single person in the building immediately silent as he walked by.
Guild master-" Well now, back again are we?" The Guild master says with a smile visible on his face.
Granger walks up and nods, the Guild master smiles and puts up a hand towards Granger.
Guild master-" Now now don't think I haven't noticed, Death Chanter"
Granger raises an eyebrow before the guild master chuckles and puts his hand down, he searches around under his countertop before pulling out a scroll.
Guild master-"Granger, The Death Chanter" he reads aloud "Tasks taken...3416 S-level tasks taken... 3006"
Granger-" I don't see a point to th-" The Guild master continued interrupting Granger.
Guild master-"Total Earnings..." He looks at Granger "101425..." he closes the scroll "..in gold" he places the scroll on the countertop.
The guild master audibly sighs, he looks at Granger, eyes half closed.
Guild master-" look, you're a good demon hunter, heck! Maybe even the best! But I can't but help to notice you, not taking any kind of breaks, vacations or even weekends off"
Granger-"I understand the concern but... I don't see the purpose of reading my file out loud"
Guild master-" I read that aloud because I want you to hear how much you've done in the past 3 years" the guild master sighs again " every single day you come here and take every S-level task I have to offer and complete them the next day and you repeat that over, and over" he leans on the countertop " It isn't healthy for anyone to keep on living like that"
The sound of footsteps echo as someone came down from the second floor and bowed to the Guild master.
Treasurer-" You asked for me?" The Guild master smiles and chuckles.
Guild master-"Well what took you so long?" he laughs and stands up straight, he picks up the scroll and hands it to the treasurer " I want you to give our demon hunter, Granger here, all his balance, you understand?"
The treasurer nods and takes the scroll.
Treasurer-" I will get it immediately" he goes behind the counter and through a door.
Granger- " Why did you request that? I don't have much of a need for my earnings" the Guild master laughs and turns to Granger.
Guild master-" Now Granger, no amount of words can express the amount of gratitude I have for you taking all these quests, saving all those people, and making sure justice is served... So I'm doing you a favor"
The Guild master pulls out a piece of paper.
Guild master- "I the Guild master of this town, hereby order Granger Death Chanter, to be forbidden from taking any kind of quests until he has spent all, but a handful of his earnings"
A visible sign of discomfort and confusion was visible on Granger's face as every word that was said, suddenly appears on the paper.
The Guild master stamps the paper without wasting any time. He hands Granger the approved contract.
Granger takes it shakily and looks at it with terror in his eyes.
Not long after, the treasurer returns carrying a leather sack filled to the brim with gold coins, he places it at Granger's feet.
Granger- " But what am I supposed to do, Until I spend all of this?" The Guild master chuckles.
Guild master-" Easy! go have a vacation, spend time with friends, so-and-so" he perks up "oh yes and this is for conditions" he clears his throat " the amount spent does not include donated, given, stolen, lost coins and house purchases. All coins spent or lost this way will return back to him"
Granger looks at the paper and the conditions were already there, his eyes had more terror in them.
Granger- " How... does that even work?" The Guild master laughs.
Guild master- " Hand me a coin and you'll see" Granger nod and takes a coin and attempts to put it in the guild master's hand.
The moment Granger lets the coin go, it flies back into his hand.
Granger had an annoyed expression as the Guild master gives a hearty laugh.
Guild master- " Now go on. The sooner you spend it, the sooner you can get back to your schedule" Granger looks at him irritatedly.
Granger-" But there isn't much to spend here, and I don't particularly have friends in this town" the Guild master smiles and pulls out a map from underneath the counter.
He gestures for Granger to come close, he pointed at a portion of the map.
Guild master-" This is the Moniyan empire, Still remember it? I hear Alucard's part of the royal knights now "
Granger nods as the Guild master smiles.
Guild master- "And here" he slides his finger above a portion of the land he just mentioned " is where he says adventurers, hunters, and quest takers such as yourself, have fun and get away from working. This is Iroas, you'll be able to find ways to spend your money there and even make friends till you're done"
Granger's right eye twitches as he looked at the Guild master.
Guild master-" Well, what are you waiting for? Go on! Have fun!" He says with a awfully large amount of enthusiasm "if this makes it any better, think of it as a chance to let others have a shot with the S-level tasks"
Granger-" You can't be serious..." The Guild master smirks and raises an eyebrow.
Granger sighs in defeat and puts his gun in between his left arm, he picks up the sack with coins and he heads out.
A carriage pulls up in front of him.
Coachman-" Where will it be, Death Chanter?" Granger sighs as he puts his stuff onto the carriage.
Granger-" To the Moniyan empire, I'll show you more directions on the way"
Before he could get on the Guild master goes out and tosses the coachman the map from earlier.
Guild master- " Take him there on the town I circled" the Coachman nodded.
Granger flinches with irritation before sighing and going onto the carriage, the coachman whips the horses and the carriage begins to move.
Granger catches a glimpse of the Guild master waving goodbye, he sighs before waving back.
-Now-
Coachman-"We're almost at the town" Granger nods in response.
He looks outside and sees forests, buildings and many people.
The coachman whips the horse causing them to stop, the sack full of coins jingles as the carriage recoils. The sudden stop causes Granger to jolt forward a bit.
Coachman-" Word of advice Death Chanter, find an inn before going anywhere else. We don't want anyone getting hurt trying to steal from you" Granger nods and takes his stuff and gets off.
The carriage goes off and Granger looks around and spots a place that could be an inn, he picks up his guitar case, gun, the sack of gold and starts walking.
