Nurses Station outside of Harms Room

Mid-Morning

Bethesda Naval Hospital

Lt Commander Jordan Parker approached the nurses station, she had been paged to do perform a psych examination on a patient of Dr Radford. "Excuses me, Dr Radford asked me to consult on a patient of his."

"Yes he made a note, here is his file."

She handed Harms file over to her. Jordan was stunned for a moment when she saw the name. However she hid it. Knowing that she had to put aside any personal feelings she still held for him. "Thank you, he's room 405 according to the file?"

"Yes Commander, it's down the hall on the right."

"Thank you." Jordan gathered the file and made her way down to Harms room. When she reached the door, she noticed it wasn't closed all the way. She peeked inside. Noticing that he wasn't alone. A woman was in there with him. She tried to figure out if she was whom she thought. So she just listened.

"According to your Doctor as soon as they give you your psych evolution test you can go home?"

"That's what he said this morning."

"Do you hear that Tommy, daddy gets to come home with us soon."

"Hand him over I want to hold him. He's been out of my arms too long."

Mac handed Harm his son. Harm used his good arm to cradle him in. "God Sarah I missed getting to hold 's grown so much."

"He's not grown that much."

"Yes he has. I can tell a father can always tell."

"And you're saying a mother can't?"

"Not at all baby, I guess I'm just over compensating for scaring you both." Mac ran her hand over Tommy's soft brown hair. "At least he's still little and will not have to live with the memories of the last few days."

"I'm sorry..."

"None of what happened is in anyway your fault. You had no way of knowing in advance what was going to take place. No more than I did."

"Still look at the track record of Rabb men. We all tend to make our wives widows."

"Well this one here hasn't, and I know he never will, so does Tommy. He told me so."

Jordan had heard enough; she decided to make her presents know. She pushed open the door, looking at the file as she walked in.

Both Harm and Mac looked over at the door when it opened up. Both shocked when they saw Jorden walk in. "Commander Parker?"

"Yes, Col."

"Why are you here?"

"I'm here to give Commander Rabb his physic evaluation."

"What? Don't you think that's a bit unethical? Given your personal history?"

"No; I can remain perfectly professional. Besides Dr Radford is the one that asked me to speak with him. Are you here in an official capacity?"

"No, I'm his wife."

"I see than." ( not that I'm shocked she said under her breath )

"I'm sorry Commander? What did you say?"

Smiling; She said nothing. "Col would you mind stepping out so I can speak with The Commander."

Mac glanced over at Harm ( whom had remained too quiet. "Sweetheart I'll be okay."

Not liking this at all; she picked up Tommy, lended down and placed a kiss on Harms lips. "We'll be in the waiting room." Harm took her hand and placed a kiss on the palm. "Love you both; Tommy be a good boy for mommy, daddy loves you."

"We love you too." Both walked out and past Jordan. She glanced their direction as they left. When Mac closed the door, Jordan walked and took a seat next to Harms bed.

Smiling as she took a deep breath. "Commander how are you feeling?"

"I'm fine; other than the injury's I received from the crash."

"I see. How where you feeling the night of the accident?"

"What does that have to do with anything?"

"It tells me what I need to know."

"In other words you want to get into my head, see if I'm still fit to fly. I'll save you the time. I'm turning in my wings. I'm not leaving Sarah and Tommy alone in this world."

"Your making this about her, not about you."

"How so?"

"You're the one that's scared, you're the one nervous to get back in the cock pit. So by making it about her it saves you from having to think about."

"Not true; I remember what it feels like to loose my own father see the effect it had on my mother. I can't put her or my children threw that."

"You mean child."

"What?"

"You said children, yet you have only mentioned Tommy by name."

"What does that have to do with anything?"

"It goes to frame of mind. You must have had more on your mind the night you crashed."

"Yes I was getting home to my family, but that had nothing to do with the power failure in the Tomcat. Or the weather."

"By your own admission your mind was pre-occupied. Maybe you missed a warning light."

"I know what you're attempting to do here, you're placing the blame on me. I've already done that. I know I'm the one at fault here. That's why I'm hanging up my wings. Now are we done?"

"No I think we should continue this, I think you need more counseling."

"I don't, I'm not going to fly anymore. I've advanced as much as I can as a Naval Aviator. Plus I can't take a chance of leaving my family please sign off on my release.I want to go home."

Jordan made a few notes in the chart. She knew that she should have kept an open mind while talking with Harm; but her thoughts kept going back to Mac and the baby. "I've just got one question for you before I leave."

"What's that?"

"Are you happy Harm?"

"Yes I'm very happy, I've got everything I want in life."

"If that's the case, than why do you feel the need to protect them? What are you so afraid of? Just think about that. I'll sign off on your discharge paperwork." Jordan stood and made her way over to the door not stoping once to look back.
