A/N:

Hi friends!

Welcome back to RWBY: The Selection. Sorry for the lack of an update yesterday- Tuesdays get very hectic XD. Coming at you today though with three chapters of varying levels of fluff and sadness, so prepare yourselves...

Shoutout to Six02,TheReckless1One, and MadoScientisto for y'all's great reviews!

To Six02, thank you again for all your reviews, and you're so right! Teenagers can be cruel :( poor Weiss...

To TheReckless1One, your first thought about teams might come about in an informal way, yes, yes ;) I can't answer the "what's Salem plotting" question without spoilers, but rest assured, it is something good. And *interesting* on your thoughts on who should be sent home :) and thank you for the review!

To Madoscientisto, thank you for all your praise :). I'm glad you like all the humor (it's something I really try to include so that made me smile), I'm happy that the Blake and Ilia chapter cleared some stuff up, and yes, poor Weiss :(

Also, shoutout to HelpingHand for more date ideas (although Weiss is best girl) once again, I can't include them all, but there are so many of these that I love, and thank you so much!

Once again, please review with any thoughts/comments/questions/concerns/let me know if I upload the wrong chapter (it happens sometimes when I do these spams XD)

Without further ado, enjoy!

Chapter 42: Ruby

Ruby sat on the floor of Yang's bedroom, wringing her hands anxiously. "Try it again," she insisted.

Yang sighed. "Ruby, it says he's out of service."

"We talked just a few days ago, Yang! How 'out of service' can he be?"

After Weiss ran from her room crying, Ruby had confronted Neon at the roller-skate rave, which had been nothing short of a disaster. Upset, Ruby had sulked back to her room to call her uncle. Uncle Qrow always picked up when she needed him, even when he was on a mission. But this time, she had gone straight to voicemail, and, knowing her uncle was in Vacuo, that automated message from the CCT that answered instead of her uncle's raspy voice struck terror into Ruby's heart.

"Ruby-"

"Try again!"

Yang sighed, dialing Qrow on her scroll. After calling Qrow 328 times, Ruby's scroll had died, and she'd raced to Yang's room to use hers instead.

"We're sorry," the automated voice of the CCT message said through the scroll. Ruby felt like crying. "The number you are attempting to reach is out of service at this time. Please check the number, or try your call again."

Ruby hung her head.

"I can call Dad and tell him to let us know if he hears from Uncle Qrow," Yang suggested. Ruby nodded, and Yang placed the call. "Hey, Dad," she said to the answering machine that had picked up, "Yang here. All's good. I saw some flowers today. Ruby has a date tomorrow morning. Oh! We had a skateboarding rave. Yeah… that was cool," Yang grinned. Ruby gave her a pointed look. "Anyway, let us know if you hear anything from Qrow. Ruby's trying to reach him, but his scroll's out of service. Love you,"

"Tell him I love him too!" Ruby cried.

"And Ruby's gay. Goodbye!" She went to hang up.

"Yang!"

"Kidding…" Yang rolled her eyes. "Ruby says she loves you too, dad. Smell you later," she clicked her tongue before hanging up.

"You're gay," Ruby grumbled, crossing her arms over her chest.

"And you have a date tomorrow, little sis," Yang said with a wink. She stood up, offering a hand to pull Ruby to her feet. "Gotta be well-rested for good ol' lady killer Prince Jaune,"

Ruby snorted. "If all of his pickup lines are as cheesy as the ones you told me, he's going to need some serious help…"
