PREVIOUSLY-
"There's something else, too, isn't there?" I asked, knowing that he'd been holding something back. "Tell me."
Sam sighed, but knew I wouldn't give up. "The Cullens are back."
My heart dropped, but I took a deep breath, steadying myself.
"You and Jared are my first priority. We'll deal with them later." I said as I mustered up my courage, ready to help my wolves.
"My ribs are cracked, but they'll heal pretty quick. No injuries to my lungs. We need to set Jared's leg before it starts healing more." Sam told me, leaning down to see the extent of Jared's leg injury.
He grunted in pain as he moved, but I knew he was right, Jared's injury was much worse and required immediate attention. "Quil, get in here and hold him down."
Quil rushed in and held Jared's arms down forcefully as I cried, seeing him in so much pain. Sam pulled at his leg and moved the bone into the correct spot as Jared screamed out, worse than I'd ever heard him before. I didn't know if he'd had to re-break it, but I was suspecting that he had because I heard a terrible cracking noise when he'd done it.
Jared passed out from the pain of it and I found myself being wrapped in Sam's arms as I cried, reaching down to grab Jared's hand.
"He'll be okay, Bella." Sam tried to reassure me. I knew there was nothing I could really do other than hold his hand and let his body heal itself. I turned my attention to Sam while still holding Jared's hand.
He leaned down and I raised my other hand to his side that was bruised. He then sat down next to me before leaning his back up against the couch.
"What did they say?" I finally asked him, and he knew exactly what I meant.
"It was the pixie and the one covered in bite marks. They came to warn us that he's coming back and he apparently thinks we've kidnapped you. Bite marks also helped us kill Big Red." Sam told me. Alice and Jasper. "We won't let anything happen to you, Bella."
"If he's that determined, I doubt the treaty line will stop him, Sam. Did she say when?" I asked, worried about what was coming.
"She said within the week. The rest of them are back as well. They are going to try and stop him. I told the pixie that we would agree to meet with them at the treaty line to discuss things." Sam said.
"I want to go with you." I told him adamantly.
"No." He replied immediately with concern on his face.
"I'm going, Sam." I stated.
"I don't want you near them, Bella. Jared wouldn't either." He warned, but I was sure that I was going whether they wanted me to or not.
"They won't hurt me, Sam. Edward might, but they won't. I need them to see that I'm happy here so that they can convince him to leave me alone." I explained, hoping I wouldn't have to resort to using my alpha order. "They can only do that if they actually see me in person so that he can see that in their minds."
"I don't like this, Bella." Sam told me, but I knew he was giving in.
"I need to do this, Sam. You know I do." I told him quietly. He reached over and placed his hand on my belly.
"Then we're waiting until Jared wakes up and is healed enough to meet with them. I won't let you go without one of us by your side at all times." Sam said adamantly. "I will have Jacob send word to them."
I nodded. I knew that he wouldn't let me go without them both. Sam went to get up, wincing as he did, and I grabbed his hand.
"You shouldn't phase while you're still injured." I warned him.
"I'll be fine, honey." He smiled before walking out the door.
I turned back to Jared and ran my hand down his face. I'd never seen any of the wolves go unconscious before, even Jacob when he'd been injured in the other timeline, and I didn't know how long it would take for him to wake. I hoped it wasn't long. The swelling in his leg was already starting to subside.
Sam returned a minute later, holding his side and halfway bent over. "Maybe I shouldn't have phased."
"Do you want me to say 'I told you so', because I will." I told him as I tried to let go of Jared's hand to go get Sam an ice pack from the freezer. He wouldn't let my hand go. He rolled toward me instead.
"Go get an ice pack from the freezer and sit in the recliner until you're healed." I ordered Sam. It wasn't an alpha order, but he obeyed anyways, knowing he should listen to me.
"Jacob is delivering the message, and afterward he is going to Charlie's and bringing him down here. We don't want to take any risks right now." Sam told me as he sat down with the ice pack.
"We'll have to tell Charlie, won't we?" I asked, motioning to Jared.
"I think it's time, Bella. He's going to see how we live now, and he'll have questions." Sam told me. I knew we'd have to tell him at some point, but I had expected it to be later on in my pregnancy. "I doubt Jared would be able to hide it right now."
I nodded to him, wondering and worried about how that conversation would go.
"Bella?" I heard Jared say a few minutes later. I turned my attention back to him immediately.
"Hey Jare, how do you feel?" I asked him as he looked over at me with heavy eyelids.
"Like I got kicked in the leg by a slab of marble." He joked, though I could tell he was in a great deal of pain. "Did you tell her?" Jared asked Sam, who nodded.
"She's going with us." Sam told him and he looked at me and shook his head.
"No. Sam, no." Jared told him, panicking.
"We're not going until you're healed. You'll stay at Bella's side the entire time. I'll have to be out front, but I don't want her anywhere close to them." Sam replied to him, his voice absolute.
"I am still right here. You guys have a habit of doing that, you know." I told them both, a bit annoyed.
"I'm sorry, babe, but I can't really move at the moment." Jared said shrugging.
"I know. I'm going to so that you guys can have your chat." I told them, letting Jared's hand go and standing up. I knew I was being completely irrational, but I blamed it on my out of control hormones.
I went to the bedroom and sat down on the edge of the bed with my head in my hands. It was a lot to take in. Victoria was gone, but both Jared and Sam were injured. The Cullens were back and Edward was coming back, too. Then we'd have to tell Charlie about our situation.
"Bella, honey." I heard Sam say from the doorway.
"You need to be resting." I told him, wiping a stray tear from my eye.
"No, I need to be here with you." Sam told me as he walked over to me and pulled me to my feet, wrapping his arms around me. "You shouldn't have to be dealing with all of this."
"It's part of the territory." I laughed through the tears. "It's not like I didn't know it was coming, it's just my damn hormones. I don't want them to be back, Sam. I don't want more kids to phase."
"Sam, some help here?" I heard Jared say and I looked up to see him limping toward the bedroom. Sam immediately let me go and rushed to swing his arm around Jared, helping him to our room.
"What are you doing, Jared? You shouldn't be up, AT ALL!" I yelled at him as Sam helped him lay down on his side of our bed.
"I wasn't going to lay in there on the couch while you're in here crying, Bella." Jared told me as he grabbed my hand and pulled me back to sit on the bed next to him. "Listen, Big Red is nothing but ash now. That's one less problem we have. We're not going to let sparkle boy near you, babe. None of the pack will."
"You won't be able to do anything unless you rest." I told him pointedly, propping a pillow up under his leg. "And Charlie will be here soon. We're going to have to tell him, Jared, so you better be prepared."
"He can't shoot a man while he's down, can he?" Jared asked with a worried laugh.
"He's not going to shoot you, Jare." I said to him, hoping I was right.
"Come here, babe." Jared told me, pulling me down toward him. "I love you. Sam loves you. The whole pack loves you -just not as much as us- and we will get through anything together. Big Red, Charlie, the Cullens, and anything that comes after…"
"I love you both, too, and our little ones agree." I said, placing my hand over my growing stomach. Both Jared and Sam reached over and felt the babies kicking happily against their hands.
A/N- What do you think will happen with the Cullens?
Guys, I promise there will be more interactions outside of the pack, but there's a lot that goes on within the pack, and Bella really hasn't gotten out much since Victoria's been around. There's also some juiciness coming up too, and a lot of things will start making sense.
