Silver Beast: New Additions
(Monday - May 20th, 3:50 PM Port Hardy Station 276 - 4 months, 6 days and 9 hours remaining)
"Yo Chief, do you have a minute?" Officer Maddox asked as he knocked on Chief Davidson's door.
"Oh, I could spare a few." Chief Davidson teased as he set down the court file he'd been looking over. "How can I help you, Officer Maddox?"
"I have an update on the Grandview Apartment case." Officer Maddox said as he closed the door behind them.
"And what would that be?" Chief Davidson asked as Maddox sat in the chair across from his desk.
"We managed to collect blood and hair samples from the crime scene." Officer Maddox said as he set the private lab results down on the desk for the chief to look at. "They came back very irregular Sir."
"What do you mean?" Chief Davidson asked as he looked over the lab work.
"The blood we found did belong to a human female. Funny thing is we found her hair about thirty minutes away at another crime scene." Officer Maddox said. "It appeared to be another attack sight only this time there was a pagan salt diagram on the ground."
"So you think the girl might have been sacrificed there?" Chief Davidson frowned.
"That crossed my mind as an option as well. Officer Karl however found a girl matching the description of the missing girl at the reservation that same day. We believe the missing girl is alive." Officer Maddox said.
"Perhaps she is a witch or simply a witness to the ceremony?" Chief Davidson suggested.
"It's possible, but Karl and I think we've figured out the connection." Officer Maddox said as he placed another lab worksheet onto his desk. "We ran these tests three times just to confirm the results. None of them have been tampered with or contaminated in any way."
"What's your point Maddox?" Chief Davidson asked as he looked down at the blood work.
"Whoever's blood this belongs to is neither fully human nor beast." Officer Maddox said as he pointed to the chart on the paperwork. "He's a combination of the two."
"Combination?" Chief Davidson paled as he took a closer look at the tests.
"Yes, Sir." Officer Maddox nodded. "We had the lab work checked to make sure we didn't accidently collect stray pet hair from the park. It didn't match any known animal breed and it held chemical characteristics to a human male."
"So what's your theory?" Chief Davidson frowned as he set the lab work on his desk.
"Again sir, we had this lab work tested and confirmed by professionals and Officer Jackson helped to confirm Officer Karl and I's findings at the crime scene. With the added witness and confirmed second attack sight near the reservation I'm afraid to say that the feared Silver Beast has returned to Port Hardy." Officer Maddox said making Chief Davidson's face burn red with anger.
"Not another word Maddox. Not. another. word!" Chief Davidson hissed as he snapped his pencil in half in his fist.
"But Sir!" Officer Maddox exclaimed. "Baxter tracked his scent from the crime scene and again at the second attack sight. It appears the lycan's got himself another human lover! We have to stop history from repeating itself!"
"You will silence yourself this instance Maddox!" Chief Davidson yelled. "I more than anyone would love to skin that disgrace of a wild animal but in order to keep Kikyo safe I must maintain my silence! If the world discovers the truth about magical creatures they will come hunting for her too!"
"Let Karl and I handle the case sir. That way your name stays out of the record books and Kikyo's identity remains a secret." Maddox offered as Chief Davidson ran his hands down his face. "Karl managed to get me the girl's plates on her car. They match one of the units at the same apartment complex. Let us check out this girl and see if she has any leads on the Silver Beast. If she doesn't, then maybe she can answer our questions on how her DNA ended up at two crime scenes."
"Fine! But I'll have no part in this Maddox." Chief Davidson snapped. "I will not risk my daughter's safety again."
"Yes, Sir." Officer Maddox nodded as he collected the results and headed towards the door.
As he closed the door Chief Davidson leaned back in his chair and blew out a long puff of air and threw his lips. Knowing he couldn't keep this information to himself he opened his desk drawer and pulled out his cell phone.
"Hello?" answered a rich feminine voice.
"Kikyo honey! How are you?" Chief Davidson exclaimed.
"I am well father." Kikyo answered. "How are things at home? Is Kaede keeping up with her studies?"
"Your sister is doing fine. Well, all except for her cooking skills. She still over bakes the casseroles." Chief Davidson sighed.
"That sounds like her." Kikyo smiled.
"How's that son-in-law of mine?" Chief Davidson asked. "Is he treating you alright?"
"Here, you can ask him yourself." Kikyo said as she put her father on speakerphone.
"Naraku!" Chief Davidson chuckled nervously. "It's been a while since we last spoke."
"Indeed." Naraku said uncaringly as he continued to drive the car. "I take it Port Hardy is safe?"
"Partially." Chief Davidson scoffed, causing both Kikyo and Naraku to frown. "That mutt has apparently returned to Port Hardy and has found himself another human lover. I was told by the SSFC that he'd been killed but apparently that was just another cover-up story to keep me out of the loop."
"Interesting. I too was under the same impression." Naraku scowled as he looked at his straight-faced mate from the corner of his eye. She looked unfazed but deep inside he could tell she was a thunderstorm of emotions. "Do you know who this new lover is?"
"One of my men tracked her down to an apartment complex across town. Once they find her they will question her." Chief Davidson said as he twirled what was left of his coffee around in the bottom of his mug. "Whoever she is, her relationship with the werewolf is about to end. I will not have him stirring up fear around my town or breeding any more mongrels if I have anything to say about it."
"Be sure that you do." Naraku said as he tightened his grip on the steering wheel. "Kikyo and I were actually planning on visiting Port Hardy this weekend. Perhaps I could be of assistance? My senses are much more equipped at tracking than your hunting dog."
"No, you two keep hidden. If anything bad comes out of this I want the both of you as far away from the publicity as possible." Chief Davidson said before taking the last sip of his coffee. "On a positive note, how is that grandson of mine?"
"We are actually on our way to a specialist now." Naraku said as he looked over at his mate and placed his hand over her extended belly. "Last we checked he was above average for his development."
"Wonderful!" Chief Davidson smiled. "How much longer do you expect until delivery?"
"We just reached the halfway point, father." Kikyo said as she rubbed over the spot her unborn child just kicked. "We will be sure to send you photos of the pregnancy scans here soon."
"Excellent." Chief Davidson said just as someone knocked outside his office door. "Listen honey, I've got to go. Take care of yourself and the baby ok?"
"Will do Father." Kikyo said before hanging up the phone. She gasped when she felt Naraku's hand slap her across the cheek.
"Care to explain why you lied to me?" Naraku asked coolly.
"What is there to explain?" Kikyo frowned as she sent her mate an icy glare. Her cold skin felt nice against the red mark on her cheek. "Inuyasha and I would still be together if it weren't for you and my father's interference."
"I would have had you one way or another my sweet." Naraku growled as he gripped the steering wheel in a tight grip. "You are, and will always be mine."
"I do not love you." Kikyo said, making him scoff.
"That did not stop you from mating me." Naraku smirked as he stared down at her belly. "Nor did it stop you from swelling beautifully with my seed."
"You caught me in a time of weakness." Kikyo snapped as she turned away from him to look out the window. "I did not know how to ignore the urges of my first heat."
"Regardless of your feelings towards me, we are mated for all eternity. Even if you tried to kill yourself I will find you and mate with you in the next life. You are mine Kikyo and anyone that touches what belongs to me will suffer the consequence. Of that, I can promise you." Naraku fumed as he continued to drive down the road.
"I don't care." Kikyo sniffled as she watched the outside world flash by as he drove. "I didn't want this life. When you asked me if I wanted to live, you didn't say it would be like this. You tricked me Naraku and for that, I will never forgive you."
"Do not fret about the past my mate." Naraku soothed as he ran his claw lovingly through her hair. He frowned when she flinched away from him. "Once Inuyasha is out of the way for good and our son is born you will see just how lucky you are."
"We'll see about that." Kikyo spat as she tried to ignore the dread growing in her heart.
