Hiro swallowed the hard lump lodged in his throat and harden himself before going in; he couldn't believe the call he received from... Callaghan. The minute he did his blood ran cold then boiled. Why that man called him, he didn't know nor did he want to. He almost spurned it, when Callaghan told him about his "allusive" visitor.

"Hiro, thank you for coming," Callaghan offered a respectable smile.

Hiro stayed steely, narrowing his eyes outside the man's cell. Ignoring anything and everything.

"When did they come?"

Callaghan's smile dropped, "Two days ago."

"Why?"

"The portal."

For a moment Hiro's face cracked with confusion and shock.

"What reason?"

A heavy fell from Callaghan's chest, "I'm not sure but my guess, they're trying to recreate for purposes they didn't disclose. They wanted the specs. Frequency numbers. Codes. Everything."

"And did you?" Hiro asked suppressing his rising worries.

"I told them that information was lost. I didn't know it."

Inside Hiro sighed with relief. Only to spike sharply it fears.

"They didn't believe me. They knew I was lying. It's as though they could sense it. It might have been their visor picking up my vital signs. Kind of like your robot."

"...And?"

Hiro watches the man's shoulders sink, "I…I told them partially what they wanted. The guard was coming and they became spooked. So they fled."

"So, they'll be back.."Hiro summed, as his mouth dried up. "Question is when?" He mumbled to himself. "What do they want with the portal? And why?"

"I think it's something personal," Callaghan answered, catching the question. Hiro looked at him. "The way the questions were asked...it was almost like an interrogation. I could catch a bit of

desperation in their tone. Lose too."

Hiro wasn't sure what to say, his mind processing everything while trying to formulate and compile who it could be. He came up empty.

"Was it another...former student," Hiro grudgingly forced himself to say," or someone else you might have been working for? Was anyone else on the project?"

Callaghan shook his head. "Just me. I know I'm not giving you much but I know this, anyone who's trying to rebuild or remake the portal for emotional reasons is going to cause further damage not to themselves but to everyone around them. That's dangerous, Hiro. I know. You have to catch them before it happens."

"So, what did he say?" Gogo asked Hiro when he arrived at Fred's.

Everyone remained delicate for his sake. Hiro didn't say anything for a moment, he came in and sat down. His face darkened and ruffled. The other could only assume what bothered him.

Wasabi knew one of them should have gone.

"Hiro-" he started.

"Someone's trying to rebuild the portal," Hiro said. Surprising everyone.

Honey Lemon spoke, "Who? Why would they are they?"

Hiro raked his fingers through his hair and sighed, "I don't know. Callaghan said it might be for personal reasons."

"Who else has a personal reason?" Wasabi rose quizzical brow looking at the others. "Were they working with him?"

"No. He didn't have any partners. The person who came was the same one from the docks. He described them to me. Description matches."

GoGo popped her gum, with a hunch, "That explains all the thief's from particular tech companies and fluctuating power levels. They've been testing it out. Did Callaghan tell them everything?"

"No."

Honey Lemon sighed with relief, "That's good."

"In a way," Hiro said, "they'll be back. I know it. The question is when."

That was Fred's cue, clearing his throat he goes over to collect, files through them and takes out the issue he was looking for.

Cracking it open flips through the pages, nodding his in a scholarly way.

"Did you find something?" Wasabi dreaded to ask.

Fred slaps the issue shut, "No!" The others groan, "But, I do know this! Like every comic book I've read and re-read, they always come back!"

"We just said that," GoGo huffed, glaring a warning at him to get to the point.

"Yeah, I know. What I mean is they might be expecting us to be there waiting for them and if they are, then we're falling right into their trap."

The others exchanged confused looks, "A trap?" Honey steadily queried.

"It's vigilante 101." He answered.

"Okay, now I'm confused," Wasabi admitted, pinching his brows reaching his limit. Baymax went over and turned on his built-in palm fan to help.

Fred, excited, further explained, "Yeah! Vigilante Think about it, they operate outside the law."

Hiro corrected him, "Isn't that what we, sort of do?"

Realizing he was right, Fred re-corrected himself, "You're right. They're more anti-hero. An in-between. Neither good nor bad. Yeah, they're falling on the bad side, stealing and everything but they have a reason. It's a personal reason. For most anti-heroes it is. Unless it's just for the thrill of it."

Again the others exchange looks, Honey's and Wasabi's brows knotted puzzled, the theory seems farfetched. But, Hiro felt, no knew Fred was on to something. Thinking back to what

Callaghan said everything began connecting. Still, even if this person was an anti-hero what they were or what are going to do didn't justify anything. Stealing the required equipment and parts for the portal, which meant…he began summing, they'd want…

Hiro shot up from his seat, the others whip their heads around alarmed.

"Hero, what is it?" GoGo asked before the others. Keeping her cool.

"They're not done," Hiro muttered, turning to them, "they're still one more thing they need."

Wasabi was next to ask, "What?"

"Krei. I'm positive he's their next target. Suit up."

In the calm night, not a single ripple was seen in San Fransokyo, not even at Krei Tech Industries as Hiro thought. Still he and the others, in their gear, kept a sharp eye out for misplaced shadow. Hiro, Baymax, and Wasabi stationed in the office. GoGo and Honey outside around the perimeter. Fred patrolling the halls hyped and more vigilant than the others. Krei was informed by Hiro of the reason why and the man laughed it off finding it rather ridiculous.

Not a surprise.

Humming to himself, Fred's theme song, Fred's phone suddenly rang. He answered.

"Fred?" It was you.

He nearly jumped excited, "Hey! Ma-"

You cut him off, "Shhh", remember.

"Oh, yeah," he turned off his comm. "guess what?"

"What?"

"Staking out Krei's place. No, actually it's more like guarding it. Yeah."

He heard you smile with a soft chuckle, "Really?" You grunt softly.

A soft metal cling was heard on your end, "Yeah. What was that?" He asked.

"Just dropped a tool, that's all. Nothing really. Why are you there?"

Fred proudly smiled, "Cause there's a chance that someone might come after him. Hiro went to visit Callaghan and get this; someone's trying to recreate the portal you came through. They even went to visit Callaghan."

You gasp, "Oh no. Why?"

"To get information from him, they think he might know how to build the portal or something. That's what Hiro told us. But, that might not be it, Hiro said they're going to come after Krei. That's why we're here."

"All of you?"

"Yep. Stakeouts require more muscle."

You grunted softly again, a bit out of breath, "Well," your voice lowered to barely a whisper, "that does require what you say. It is a good thing Mr. Krei has such wonderful guards to protect him. Whoever is willing to go after him had best be careful. Or at least smart enough not to go."

"I know! With Big Hero 6 on the scene, nothing will get passed us! Especially me! My mind is too sharp for that."

A slight knot twisted in your stomach, "Yes, you are quite right."

"You know and I know you told me not to say anything to the others, but maybe you could come with us. Now that you're…you know."

"As much as I appreciate such an offer, I must decline. I am not nearly as skilled as all of you and will most likely hold you back. Plus I am currently on another assignment at the moment. It requires my fullest attention. I feel if we cross paths I would no doubt hinder it."

He blew a raspberry, "Oh please. What's the worse you can do?"

His words kind, sicken your stomach, but you swallowed it down. Knowing what you now knew, this would be easy.

"Well Fred, as much as I enjoyed our conversation, I must go. I have arrived. Please do be careful and remember our secret."

He zipped and locked his lips, "Yep. Got it. Bye."

You hung. He did too and turned back on his comm. That was good to know, the others were with Krei just as you predicted. Meaning this part would be easier for you. Standing in the empty halls of SFIT Robotics Lab personal labs, the door was closed just like the others. Which was fine by you, you had to be quick security was bound to make their rounds. Not wanting to leave any trace of you on the keypad, had a little trick of your own. Whipping out a small card attach it and quickly run the proper code, opening the door.

Smiling under your mask enter Hiro's lab, spot the empty corner where the portal was supposed to be.
