————————9 years ago————————
Mada Kurono was a small boy with short and fluffy black hair and light blue eyes. He grew up in a rough neighborhood, robberies and shootings weren't anything unusual for where the small boy called home. Mada lived with his mother, Barbra Mada Perkins, in a small rundown apartment. His mother was a beautiful woman, long flowing black hair and a majestic attitude. Mada felt she could be a model.
On occasion, he'd get a few glimpses of his father, Hari Kurono, before he was gone back to work again. His father had thin dark eyes and pointed eyebrows. His hair was pale and styled to appear as an arrow.
Mada was no older than 6 when his life changed forever. It was a rainy night, thunderstorms pounding down on the world, or so that's what Mada felt it was. Every time there was a thunderstorm, Mada became extremely terrified. Luckily, every night when the thunder began crackling, Barbra held Mada in her arms and hushed him till he was calmed. Mada enjoyed her comfort.
And on this night, Barbra was doing just that. She held Mada in her arms, gently caressing his hair as she gave him occasional kisses on the forehead. But, it wasn't just the sounds of lightning that echoed throughout the apartment complex. Calm and slow footsteps etched closer from the hallway outside, coming ever so closer to their room.
Barbra was the only one to hear this, so, she gently places Mada on the couch in front the television as she made her way to the door. Mada innocently distracted himself with the cartoons before him, rather than the situation that Barbra was handling. Once Barbra got close enough to the door, she peeks through the peephole. What she saw on the other side made her gasp and lunge away from the door.
Quickly, she looks to Mada, a stressed expression readable across her face. "Take cover!" She shrills, but by the time the words left her mouth, bullets were already flying into the room. Gunshots roared along with the thunder, using the apartment room as a gun range.
Mada sprawled onto the ground and under the couch, not looking to what became of his mother. Since he didn't need to search, while under the couch, he saw her ankles. And soon after, he saw her entire body topple over onto the ground beside him. Bullets riddled her body, with a lifeless stare at nothing in her eyes.
Mada covered his ears and shivered in terror until it was over. And that wasn't for a while, for the blaring bullets shredded the room for what felt like hours when in truth was a little more than 25 seconds. Although the gunshots ended, the terror didn't. For right after the shootout subsided, the front door was breached and kicked open.
In walked two men, one stomping his feet while the other seemed to glide across the floor with ease. The sound of the pouring rain outside was now blaring, which only increased the fear within Mada. Mada could hear the two men's footsteps walking about the apartment very slowly, they were being sure of their doings. And it wasn't long until one of the people looked underneath the couch to find a scrawny little boy, shivering and crying.
The man, who wore a white raincoat and an intimidating Plague mask, immediately reaches out and grabs Mada by the arm to yank him out from under the sofa. Mada kicked and screeched, but each time he did the man who held him dealt him a swift jab to the gut, which shut him up. "What do we do with the kid?" The man, who held Mada, questions to the other person who wore the exact same outfit as him. The two men had guns in one of their hands, only making them scarier.
The other man, who wasn't holding Mada, seemed to blankly look at the boy. Mada couldn't see their eyes due to the mask, but he just sense it. And then, the man proves Mada's theory by taking off his mask and revealing where he was looking. And who it was that looked at him, was his father: Hari.
Hari seemed to look down on Mada, not just due to their height difference. Hari stared at his teary-eyed son with pity. Hari aims his gun at Mada's head, his finger on the trigger. But for some reason, he didn't pull it. Either out of love, or strategy, Hari lowers his gun and points to outside. "Ditch him."
"Let him live?" The other man questions, "he's seen your face, and our orders is to leave no one alive."
Hari turns away from Mada as he puts back on his plague mask. "He'll die on his own, so we won't be lying to boss."
With that, the man holding Mada drags the boy outside his home. Mada struggles, shouting at his father in rage and heartache. "I hate you!" Mada shouts repeatedly, he knew not many other words that could represent his anger. He had no idea that this would be his last time interacting with his parents. Mada was dragged all the way out his apartment complex, in the pouring rain with nothing on but his pajamas, until they were down the street and in the middle of virtually nowhere. Especially for a 6 year old that had no sense of direction or initiative.
Once they got this far out, the man tosses Mada to the ground like a wild animal. Then, he simply walks off in the direction he came from. Leaving Mada alone on the sidewalk during the unforgiving rain. Mada didn't know what other to do than cry and hide under any nearby structure, which was a tree just beside the sidewalk.
Mada pressed his kneecaps against his forehead so he could look down and hide from the world. He hated everything, everything he loved was taken from him. He had no family, he had nothing. He had no idea why, and especially why his father was the man to carry it out. But one this was for certain, he was to die out here. Alone and afraid, and that thought is what scared him the most.
Except it wasn't all bad, not long after he was placed in the middle of nowhere, Mada felt the feeling of small feet on his hands. And when Mada looked up, he saw a feathery friend looking about. It was a black feathered crow with shadowy eyes. "Hello," Mada greets the bird, "what's your name?"
The crow caws in response, then hops around on Mada's hands. This made Mada giggle from the funny feeling. "You're funny," Mada tells the bird. "I think you're a crow, but you have no personal name." Mada looks to the ground, "me too. I'm not keeping the name my mom and dad gave me, that's for sure! Hmm, Kuro-no. That last part's too long, so I'll cut it out. Kuro..?"
As he spoke, Mada stares at the crow. Its features were so majestic, just like his mother. This bird made him feel at ease, just like his mother. So, Mada figured since he was named after his mother, his new name should follow that same construct. "I've got it!" Mada exclaims with a smile, standing up and causing for the crow to flutter down to the ground before him. The pouring rain begins to let up some and a ray of sunshine finally finds a way to break through the clouds' gloom. "Hello, crow, my name is Kro."
--—Present--——
"I've retired that name." Kro states, breathing slowly as to calm himself from the dark memories he was recollecting. And as Kro meditated, blue flames appear at Dabi's feet. This fire creeps up his body, burning himself with a cocky smile. Eventually, the flames reach his arms and begin to set the crows aflame. Kro gasps and calls the crows off him, to which they obey and flutter off Dabi before getting charred.
"I remember, the old man that recruited me told me about you." Dabi informs Kro, the flames on his body disbursing. Then, Dabi rubs his wrists and cracks his neck. Right after that, he aims his stare over at Kro. The moment he does, a typhoon of blue flames hurl at Kro relentlessly. Within a couple seconds, the place Kro stood is overwhelmed with flames. And even though Kro stood still as the attack began, he ends up standing far to the left of the fire. A few feet out of its reach.
"Old man that recruited you..?" Kro ponders, "of course, there must be a system to Villainy. Same as there's one for Heroes, the 'hero course'." Kro kneels down to pick up a medium sized stick that had fallen from one of the burning trees behind him.
"Your quirk is odd." Dabi states as his fire attack dies down, since it hadn't even hit his intended target. "You're standing at one place one moment, yet in another place during the next. Teleportation?"
Kro shakes his head as he inspects the stick he found. "Nope, I'll even give you a hint: you won't guess it." Kro lightly slaps his left hand with the stick he held in his right. "Yeah, this'll work."
Dabi scoffs as he stares at Kro again. "I love taking people like you off their high horses." With that, Dabi launches another furious blast of fire at Kro. Once again, Kro reappears at another location other than the place flames engulfed. Kro had shifted left and was much closer to Dabi now, only a few feet separating the two. And right after Kro appears there, he swings his tree branch at Dabi's back.
Dabi counters with a thin 5 foot tall wall of flames a foot behind him. So when Kro slammed the branch into Dabi's back, it immediately catches on fire. Flames quickly crawl up the branch, making their way toward Kro's fingertips. Kro throws this burning branch into the air, one of his crows soaring by and grabbing the stick, midair, by its handle.
Dabi turns to his left and lunges away from Kro, Dabi's back to the forest while Kro was nearer the white building. "You're hard to hit." Dabi admits, "real annoying."
Kro shrugs, "you could always forfeit."
Dabi nods with a smirk, "yeah, like that'll happen." As he speaks, Dabi sends another fireball wave at Kro. And as always, Kro ends up in another place other than the one being bombarded with fire. Now, Kro had another stick in his hand along with being closer to Dabi. Kro runs toward Dabi, pressing his branch into Dabi's flames so it'd catch aflame. So when Kro got in close, he had a flaming branch to slam his opponent with.
Dabi halts his flames, starting up another wave where Kro ran. This time, Kro didn't reappear suddenly in another place. Instead, he lunged to the side of the fire. The execution of this was sloppy, though, so Kro almost slips and has to catch himself. Luckily, Kro's able to realign himself with his route to Dabi. Within seconds he was up close and personal with the villain, Kro swings his burning branch toward Dabi's gut.
Dabi stands still, allowing for Kro to slam the branch into his gut. Because, once he did, Dabi latches both his arms around the stick. Soon after, Dabi reaches his right arm out toward Kro's shoulder he was finally within reach. Yet, in the next second, Kro no longer was in front of Dabi. Now, Kro stood behind him. One of Kro's crows fly above the two, dropping that same flaming branch Kro originally held.
Kro reaches above and grabs the branch, immediately after, using it to forcefully smash into Dabi's back.
The branch snaps in half on Dabi's back, but it didn't cause the result Kro hoped for. Instead of Dabi being in pain and agony, he simply starts chuckling and looks to the ground. "Coming in close was your fatal mistake." Dabi tells Kro, blue flames beginning to spark at Kro's feet. "It's been fun," Dabi taunts, then, within that fraction of a second Dabi finished speaking, Dabi acts out being a ragdoll by the way he is suddenly sent flying.
Dabi is weightlessly thrown many feet away from Kro, his body launching into the burned forest he was near. His body had gone at least a few yards, and for seemingly no reason. Dabi's back is caved in by the tree he collides with, even before the split second he went slamming into the tree his clothes were in tatters.
Meanwhile, Kro stood with that same flaming branch Dabi had grabbed onto a few seconds ago. Kro tosses the branch to the ground and steps on the end that was up in flames. "That's the end of that." Kro nonchalantly speaks as the front door to the white building is slammed open and Shota Aizawa sprints out.
Shota runs up to Kro, inspecting the situation. "Hey, you should get inside. The forest's on fire and i saw more blue flames just out here." Shota informs Kro, as he did, he notices Dabi's limp body against a tree, attempting to stand. Shota jumps in front of Kro in a protective manner, "get back! There's a villain there."
"I know." Kro responds simply, many of his crows gathering together to surround him once again.
"Ahah- aha- ahaha!" Dabi chuckles, staying on the ground with his back to the dirt. "You, kid, are something else." With that, Dabi liquidates himself and turns into a muddy puddle. Every trace of him now gone, as if he never truly existed.
Kro scoffs, "fleeing? Weak."
Shota peers back at Kro momentarily, not wanting to take his eyes off the enemy that could potentially still be present. "What happened?"
Kro shrugs, looking blankly at the confused teacher. "I won."
"You all have permission, from Shota himself, to use your quirks in self defense." The voice of Mandalay informs every student in the forest via telepathy. "Also, a boy going by the name 'Ka-chan' is one of the villains' targets."
Kokei emerges from the shadows, he was positioned up on the branch of a tree and holding onto its base for leverage. "Sloppy villains, they already found out your motives." Kokei scoffs, "those new people must be shameful."
Kokei peers about himself, there wasn't much action happening. So, he had to go out and find what he was looking for. Kokei uses Springlike Limbs to maneuver about from tree to tree, feeling like a ninja by the way he was traveling. After around a minute of this, Kokei finally comes upon a scene other than more trees and darkness.
Playing out before Kokei, was Mezo and an injured Izuku kneeling beside him. Kokei inspects the situation further, noticing that Fumikage seemed to be at the place these two boys wanted to head toward. And it wasn't just Fumikage, it was his Dark Shadow that kept these two at bay. Dark Shadow had completely enveloped Fumikage, engulfing him in darkness.
"Damn.." Kokei sighs, jumping out from his cover and jogging up to the two. Upon seeing him, Izuku's eyes brighten.
"Kokei! I'm happy to see you're well." Izuku says with a heartwarming smile.
Kokei gives Izuku a toothy grin, "likewise." Kokei states ironically, he didn't even wanna know what happened to him. "So what's the deal with Fumikage?"
"So," Mezo begins, "this villain named Moonfish ambushed us. His teeth became really long and sharp, being able to cut off one of my many arms. I grew the arm back, but Fumikage still became overwhelmed in remorse and anger. Bringing him to what you see now."
Just as Mezo finishes speaking, the cover the three has is discovered by Fumikage. Fumikage slams Dark Shadow toward the boys, Izuku bunny hopping away and Mezo lunging. Kokei quickly uses his Air Walk to hover just above Dark Shadow. As more pf a precaution than anything, he didn't want to use any variant of Air Cannon on him. "Alright, what's the plan?" Kokei asks, aiming his right palm at Dark Shadows' head.
"Izuku, Kokei!" Mezo shouts to his disbursed allies, "you've gotta choose. Save Katsuki, or Fumikage from himself."
This question grants a quick response from Kokei, "Fumikage. I don't know about you two, but I feel it's my duty to keep our peers out of harms way."
Izuku shakes his head, "no, I've got a better idea."
"BADADADA!" The loud screams that came from Mezo's duplicated arms taunt the beast that chased them: Fumikage. Izuku, Mezo and Kokei were all being chased through the forest. Running in the direction of Katsuki, or that's where Mezo said he was.
"And who said that this was a good idea?!" Kokei questions, not wanting to use Springlike Limbs as to not dust his two allies. Although, it seemed like Izuku had to slow himself down to keep up with the other two.
Eventually, a clearing opens within the forest. Amongst the darkness, there were 4 people. Three of them standing, on one side while the other two were on the other with someone laid out at their feet. It was Katsuki and Shoto, the apparent 'Moonfish' on the other side of the field.
"Katsuki, Shoto!" Mezo shouts at the two, turning everyone's attention onto him. "Please, create light!" With Mezo's words ending, the three finally reach Moonfish. Mezo hushes his arms and, along with Izuku and Kokei, lunge out the way between Fumikage and Moonfish.
Moonfish raises himself with his extending jagged teeth, using them to charge at the approaching Dark Shadow. Dark Shadow easily bursts through Moonfish's teeth, being able to slam into the villain mercilessly. This attack snaps Moonfish's teeth into shards, sending the villain flying across the forest.
Immediately after this, Shoto and Katsuki take charge and use their respective quirks on Fumikage. Weakening his quirk with the light of explosions and flames. It didn't take too long for Fumikage to be returned to normal, sweat dripping down his face as he panted. "Thank you for helping me," he thanks his fellow students. "I shouldn't have allowed for Dark Shadow to take over, that was my fault."
"It's alright, no harm done." Izuku tells Fumikage with a smile, "so, we need to protect Katsuki on our way back to camp!"
Katsuki scoffs at Izuku, "shut up, Deku! I don't need any of your help!" Even though he said these, he walks alongside the group on their way back to camp.
Along the way, Kokei couldn't help but side eye Katsuki from time to time. 'I need to get him alone, damn it, if Fumikage didn't distract me o could've easily taken him away from Shoto. Then again, could i even beat him in order to take him?' Kokei wonders, 'Mezo, Izuku, Shoto, Fumikage and Katsuki. That's so many people i need to separate them.' While Kokei thought, the group comes upon another scene unfolding.
Amongst the forest, the crew saw Ochaco holding down the blonde haired girl: Himiko Toga. It looked like Toga had a type of needle in Ochaco's thigh, but they couldn't inspect for very long. Even before Ochaco noticed that help had arrived, Toga saw. Taking this opportunity to escape out form under Ochaco, scurrying away into the forest. It looked like a stupid scene from a cartoon the way Ochaco was dumbfounded and noticed why she fled.
Tsuyu was also there, she had a knife wound on her tongue and was attached to a nearby tree by her hair. The group approaches Ochaco while other members of the group help Tsuyu disconnect from the tree. Once the girls were fine again, Izuku speaks. "So, you girls wanna join us? We're going back to the cabin and protecting Katsuki along the way."
"Alright!" Ochaco answers quickly, not even contemplating it.
"Then where's, ribbit, Katsuki?" Tsuyu questions, causing for a wave of confusion within the team. Everyone looks about themselves, and she was right. Katsuki had disappeared, and not just him, but Fumikage as well.
With this observation a man, in a yellow suit and cape with a peculiar white mask on, a top-hat to boot, reveals himself atop the tree branch he stood on. "Hello kiddies," he announces, "my name is Mr. Compress. You're likely wondering where your friends are, worry not as they'll not be harmed. We simply feel that these two would be better as villains, than heroes."
Shoto wastes no more time listening to the villain, sending a wave of ice in attempts to hold Mr. Compress in place. Unfortunately, the villains' speed outranks Shoto's ice. Mr. Compress is able to avoid being hit by the ice and begins to gallop away, branch by branch.
Eagerly, the students chase after Mr. Compress on foot. Compress's speed was much greater than that of which the students to manage, causing for a gap to begin being drawn between them. "This isn't going to work." Kokei states the obvious, somewhat hoping that the crew decides to give up.
"You're right, we'll never catch him on foot." Izuku admits, the group slowing down while Izuku thinks of a plan. Soon after, Izuku gasps in realization, "I've got it!" Izuku looks around at everyone near him, shouting instructions to them all. "Uhm.." Izuku begins, "Ochaco and Tsuyu, you two are gonna launch us!"
"Sounds kinda like Kokei's plan during the sports festival." Mezo brings up, gaining a scoff from Kokei.
The team ponders Izuku's plan for a few seconds, not being able to thoroughly analyze it or create a better one due to press getting father and farther away. "Alright, let's do it!" Ochaco agrees with enthusiasm.
"I got some blood, and met new friends!" Toga informs Dabi, and a man in a black and gray bodysuit. He was also a villain, being named Twice.
"Oh, is that so?" Twice questions, not in a persecution manner but rather genuinely interested. "I couldn't meet anyone cause i was too busy keeping Dabi company." Suddenly, Twice shifts to the side and looks to his last position. Then, as if he was still standing in his last position, he speaks to nothing. "What are you talking about? You met that black haired kid that shredded Dabi!"
Toga gasps and covers her mouth in shock, "Dabi.. you got beaten up?"
Dabi grunts and barks at the two, "shut up! Not my fault Twice's clones are so damn weak." His loud outburst makes both his villain teammates quiet down and their area in the forest dwindles to silence. And what broke this silence, was the sound of something soaring through the air toward the sound of jumping on trees. These two noises eventually collided, making for quite the scene.
The sounds that whisked through the air, were 4 students. These four students had just tackled the thing that hopped from branch to branch: Mr. Compress. press laid face first to the ground while the students, Izuku, Shoto, Kokei and Mezo, each get a spot on the villain to hit.
Dabi peers at the students in disgust, Toga looked pleased, and Twice just looked confused. "Hey.. i know them!" Twice announces, then a few seconds later, he speaks to his villain allies again. "Anyways, who're these guys?"
Authors note: what a episode! I really liked created this part, mainly the beginning, because we got to learn more about Kro. More specifically, we learned about Kro's backstory and why he's named as such. Don't know if you noticed who Kro's dad is, but if you didn't, it might be wise to search him up to get a greater understanding of him (And maybe even a few hints as to what Kro's quirk could be). Well, i have nothing else to say right now so i will talk to you all later.
