Entry 66: 8.4.80 "Pregnancy"

Nora has been feeling a bit sick the last few days, mainly nausea and some slight dizziness. Eventually, after six of us suggested it, she agreed to go to the doctor's office today and see what the likely cause was. I didn't go with her to the appointment for a number of reasons: first, the doctor's office is quite small as it stands and having more people than necessary in the room leads to feel even more cramped; and second, I got more than a bit frustrated trying to make a sermon for the catholic service when I wiped the holotape I had my notes on accidentally.

It was nearly an hour later when she returned. When I asked why it was so long-normally doctor's visits are quick, to keep the small room open in case of emergencies-she simply grinned and pulled out a holotape. After plugging it into the port on my terminal I saw that it only had one file, "Henderson Ultrasound 1". I turned around and saw her rocking back and forth slightly, excitedly grinning. I knew she'd been feeling off, but I hadn't put it together with everything else that had happened recently.

"You're pregnant?" Is about the only thing I managed to stammer out, and after she explained everything that happened at the doctor's office she implored me to open the file. It was a grainy black and white picture of a grayish bean shaped smudge. It's my child, well, more accurately, children. Nora explained that there are two smudges, twins. It's way too early to figure out the gender, or really tell anyone about it-the risk of miscarriage early is much higher than later on-but it's incredible.

I'm going to be a father.
