The Burrow was crowded. It was always crowded but that day it was particularly full. There was music playing in the corner but the sound of people in the summer sun dulled it to a soft hum. The June sun beating down on the grounds. Hermione smiled as Teddy carried Albus and Fred under his arms as he ran earning squeals of joy from the boys. She looked over to Mrs Weasley who was helping Lavender sit in her overly pregnant position. She was puffy and annoyed, Hermione hated the feeling, she perked up as Bill sat next to her. She looked over to Ron who was carrying Hugo on his shoulders. His firstborn who he doted on. She smiled at the thought if it had been them, but she knew it wasn't to be and she didn't regret it in the slightest. He kissed Lavender lovingly on her cheek before running off to get her a drink. It had taken a long time for Lavender to feel comfortable around the Weasleys but she was there, and no concealment charm in place with the help of Bill.

Hermione thought back to when she was entering the apothecary six years ago and walked directly into Lavender. Lavender's eyes had gone wide.

"Hermione," Lavender greeted shocked, "What are you doing here?"

Hermione raised an eyebrow shocked at Lavenders questioning, "I was just getting some ingredients to restock. Is everything ok?" Hermione asked. Lavender was flustered at running into her, it was obvious,

"Yes, yes everything's fine I was just getting some ingredients too," Lavender said quickly moving to enter the shop. As she practically shoved Hermione out of the way, Hermione spun her around,

"Lavender, what's wrong?" Hermione asked,

"Nothing" She squeaked, Hermione raised a single eyebrow, "Oh, I'm sorry Hermione, I didn't mean for this to happen. It was an accident and now I'm in such a mess" Lavender babbled,

"What's wrong? Whatever it is, I can help" Hermione asked, trying to console the now crying woman in her arms.

"I'm such an idiot" Lavender sobbed, "Such a stupid mistake"

"Lavender, what's happened?" Hermione asked seriously,

"I'm pregnant" Lavender whispered, Hermione's mouth practically hit the floor.

"Let's go get some tea," Hermione suggested. She took her to Floreans and Tracey gave her a secluded booth. Lavender proceeded to fall apart in Hermione's arms, telling her everything, how she had met Ron in the Leaky Cauldron and one thing led to another. And then a further six times. "I was lonely" Lavender sobbed, Hermione held her hand. She had forced Ron to sit down and talk to Lavender about everything. Three days later they announced their engagement. Hermione didn't agree with it but as Harry had told her simply, "It isn't for us to judge."

Hermione was pulled from her remembrance by the giggles of small girls. Hermione laughed as Mr Weasley was playing with rubber ducks with Molly and Lucey, Percy's two young daughters, who adored Arthur. Hermione turned as small hands tugged on the edge of her sundress, she looked down and smiled at Lily, smiling she lifted the three year old into her arms.

"Firsty" The small girl stated, Hermione simply raised an eyebrow as she handed a mug over to her, Lily thanked her in a mumble. Hermione let Lily down, the three-year-old running headfirst into Ginny's scoop. The three-year-old squealed as Ginny lifted her higher on her broom. Harry was flying above tossing a golf ball between himself and James. Hermione thought of their family,

"Are you ready for this?" Hermione asked. Ginny stood at the edge of the burrow. Her white dress hugging her toned figure, Ginny had the look that often dawned her face in the middle of Quidditch games.

"As I'll ever be," The youngest Weasley said with a nod. Hermione gathered their bouquets and handed them out to Ginny. Arthur appeared,

"Ready girls?" He asked as he took her hand. Hermione glanced at Luna who grinned excitedly. With a final pat and some hushed words from Arthur they walked down the aisle.

They still were as he watched her on the broom. They were all laughing, as Hermione refilled her glass she turned to see George carrying Roxanne on his hip, the curly-haired seven-year-old grinning up at him. He was happy for the first time in a long time. George had retreated in on himself for such a long time they had all worried, but how do you help someone who lost half of themself.

She had felt it once, begging and sobbing over Lyra. She had been still, no air left. Hermione had resorted foolishly to her muggle instincts and had checked her breathing, her heart rate. She had even tried CPR. Draco had hauled her off of Lyra in an attempt to console her but Hermione punched him in the nose. She had fallen back on top of Lyra resorting to the only thing she had a gentle kiss on the corner of her lips as she sobbed. She was broken, Lyra was gone. After everything, they had been through. She was gone. Hermione stood shakily. Hestia had taken a silent step forward, placing a small golden galleon in the hollow of Lyra's neck. Hermione had struggled to keep her tears at bay but as she tried she asked,

"What are you doing?"

"It's payment for the gatekeeper" Hestia whispered, her own cheeks streaked with tears.

"She didn't believe-" Hermione tried to argue in her grief.

"She did" Draco Malfoy appeared at her side. "She believed she would be punished for her crimes. She believed that Merlin or Morgana would commit her soul to the eternal fields of punishment" He explained. He fell next to her, his own tears falling.

"I'm sorry I didn't get here sooner, '' Draco whispered as his head bowed. They stood in silence for a long time. Hermione couldn't move from her frozen position. Ginny's arms wrapped around her. A mumble had come from a hoarse voice. Draco Malfoy's head shot up.

"Lyra?!" He asked, a gurgled cough came and Hermione watched as legs twitched. Hermione fell beside Malfoy.

"Lyra?" Hermione asked, taking a cool hand.

"Wh' hapnd?" Lyra whispered. Her eyes cracking open.

"We have to go to St Mungos," Ginny ordered.

Hermione thought back to the three weeks she had spent at Lyra's bedside. Narcissa sitting with her for long hours of the day. Blaise came in also, mainly to check on Lyra but he often brought Hermione, spare clothes and food. They had managed to piece together the events. That Draco had arrived in time. His shield protecting Lyra from sacrificing herself for Hermione, the rebound of the spell had killed Calina Snyde. But the force had knocked Lyra badly, it had caused internal damage hence the panic that she had died. Hermione had learned in her panic she had missed Lyra's pulse. She had been sitting with Lyra who was asleep when a small knock made her look up to see Lucius Malfoy standing in the doorway. Hermione prickled immediately.

"What are you doing here?" She asked,

"I just came to see she was ok" Lucius whispered without looking at her. He walked in settling into the chair Blaise had occupied earlier that day.

"She'll be fine" Hermione sneered.

"I know you think we don't get along, Miss Granger, but once upon a time, Lyra was more of a Malfoy than I was" Lucius admitted. Hermione watched him as his memories overtook him. "She used to order Draco around like she owned the manor. She would fly circles around all of us. Narcissa's father encouraged her in everything she thought was a brilliant idea" Lucius explained, "She was a smart child, she almost persuaded me to buy her a dragon until Narcissa found out, she had made me believe it was a Hippocampus Egg and I got it all the way home until Narcissa took one look at it"

Hermione found herself smiling with him at his memory.

"She doesn't deserve the life I gave her, but you make it worth her while" Lucius admitted watching her. Hermione stared back, unable to respond he was still despicable in her eyes but this was a start.

A loud crack came from the top of the hill pulling her from her memories. Turning Hermione grinned as she watched a tall woman walk down the hill, as soon as Lyra passed through the boundary she unleashed the wriggling four-year-old, who flew into the gardens of the burrow. Hermione set her glass down preparing herself. Aurelian Malfoy was a small force to be reckoned with, his unruly bright blonde hair swept from his face, a grin spread across his small face at the sight of Hermione. She caught him as he ran full force into her knocking the air from her lungs.

"I missed you Mummy" He grinned up at her,

"Were you good for your grandmother?" Hermione asked critically.

"Uh-huh" He grinned, "I even helped with the garden" He grinned,

"That is an honour" Hermione grinned back at him. He giggled as she tickled him, as soon as he noticed the others, he squirmed, Hermione unleashed him to play, she turned as Lyra walked into the garden, she was as tall as always, her blonde hair falling to below her ears. Hermione sighed as Lyra slid her arm around her waist.

"Did he really help Narcissa?" Hermione asked with her eyes closed in content,

"He tried, he mainly cut the heads off but she didn't mind" Lyra explained, Hermione watched as a pregnant Fleur sat next to Molly who was showing off her latest knitting for the unborn grandchild and Hermione smiled at the memory of her own pregnancy.

She had woken up to a simple note from Lyra explaining she had an early business meeting and would be late home. It was standard for both of them, they were ambitious. It hadn't come as a surprise that she had been ill for weeks. Cranky, nauseous and headaches, she had tried to take in her stride. Getting up she walked to the small bathroom, starting the shower she glanced at herself in the mirror. Hermione's eyes bulged, she had never been fat. She hadn't even been eating properly. She examined her slight bump that lay between her hips and began to panic, this wasn't normal fat. She remembered Ginny showing her her own bump when she had been pregnant with James. And it looked identical. She sent her Patronus. Ginny would know what to do. Turning the shower off she paced the length of the bedroom. Ginny appeared twenty minutes later.

"'Mione? Are you ok?" Ginny opened the bedroom door to see Hermione stood in her underwear. "I really hope you sent that Patronus for me because Molly has James and Albus and I haven't seen my husband-"

"I think I'm pregnant," Hermione announced. Ginny took a step back.

"'Mione, I don't think Lyra has the required anatomy-"

"Ginny, I'm fat look at me" Hermione stated. Ginny's mouth opened a few times before shaking her head.

"What makes you think this? Have you had morning sickness? Boobs swelling?" Ginny asked. Hermione thought to the flu that she thought she had and realised it had only been caused by smells that she hadn't liked.

"I think so," Hermione whispered, picking her lip.

"Ok, I know how to fix this" Ginny ordered, "Get dressed" Ginny ordered, "and meet me in the living room"

Hermione did as she was told and walking down into the living room she found a small bottled potion waiting for her,

"What's that?" Hermione asked,

"It's a pregnancy test, what does it look like?" Ginny asked as if it was obvious, Hermione glared. "Just take it" Ginny ordered with a roll of her eyes. Hermione uncorked the potion and downed it. A few moments later above Hermione's abdomen, small sparks erupted.

"What does that mean?" Hermione squeaked,

"Oh," Ginny said,

"Oh?! Ginny what does this mean?" Hermione asked, her voice bordering on shouting.

"I think we need to ask mum" Ginny suggested, "Or we should go to St Mungo's they'll know"

Hermione glared at Ginny before her mind went to Lyra,

"Oh Ginny, what if I am? What am I going to tell Lyra, she doesn't want this" Hermione stressed,

"Hermione, we don't know for sure the potion might be wrong" Ginny's voice was unconvincing. "Wait, she doesn't want kids?" Ginny asked. Hermione shook her head, they had had a long conversation about it. Lyra hadn't shown any interest in children, she had met Teddy once and practically ran from Harry's home. Hermione thought about brewing her own potion but she didn't know where to start.

"Let's go to St Mungo's," Hermione stated. Several hours later, Hermione sat in the living room. The Lestrange Estate had practically transformed. It looked like a home now Hermione had had her way with it, the only thing that reminded her of the original house from the Lestrange's was the study that Lyra was adamantly retaining. She heard the Crack of apparition but refused to move. She had been thinking about the trip to St Mungos. What it would be like to have a small child running around to distract them from the stresses of their work. Lyra and Blaise's Business had expanded throughout Europe with a great deal of success.

"'Mione?" Lyra called,

"In here" She responded, her chest heavy. Lyra walked into the living room she had first brought Hermione into, "How was your day?" Hermione asked, trying to feign normality. But Lyra saw straight through it, whether it was the worrying of her lip, the expansion of her hair or the stone cold tea mug she was still nursing.

"What's happened?" Lyra asked, dropping her bag, her brows knitted. "Are you still feeling unwell?" Lyra went to put the back of her hand to Hermione's forehead but Hermione simply took her hand and curled into her. Lyra held her tightly. "You're scaring me" Lyra whispered,

"Do you remember when we got married?" Hermione asked quietly, tears pricking at her eyelashes threatening to fall, "You said you would stand with me forever"

"I will, Hermione what's going on?" Lyra asked, moving to kneel in front of her, forcing her to look into grey eyes.

"I took a test today" Hermione admitted, Lyra looked confused, "I...I'm..." Hermione took a deep breath ready for the shattering of her heart, "I'm pregnant Lyra"

Lyra knelt in shock, her head looking away. Her mind reeling,

"That's not-unless" Lyra's words spilt from her mouth as her face darkened,

"It is" Hermione jumped in stopping her train of thought "It is possible," Hermione said.

Lyra shook her head, "But how, I don't-"

"I went to St Mungo's" Hermione explained, "They said it's rare but it can happen, if the magic and bond is strong enough"

Lyra rubbed the back of her neck, her mouth working to form words but no words coming out.

"I know it's not what we planned, and I know it's not what you want," Hermione said, waiting for Lyra to tell her what she wanted. Lyra had turned however and was leaning heavily on the mantlepiece above the fire. Hermione felt the tears spill,

"Lyra, tell me what to do please," Hermione begged. Suddenly Lyra was there, wiping away the tears, holding her tightly,

"I don't know what to do, Hermione," Lyra admitted.

It had taken weeks of tears, arguments and convincing, but Lyra had agreed. It was after Narcissa had turned up unannounced one Sunday afternoon. Hermione had excused herself to the Library and Narcissa had forced Lyra to walk around the gardens with her. Hermione hated to admit she had watched them from the window. Hermione had never wanted to intrude on their odd relationship but watching them walk around the garden they were so similar.

"You need to make a decision," Narcissa said in her usual clipped tone,

"I don't know what to do," Lyra admitted.

"She wants a child," Narcissa told her.

"I know," Lyra said.

"Do you?" Narcissa asked honestly.

"They don't like me," Lyra admitted, "I don't have any particular affection to them either, to be honest."

"Have you ever actually spent time with one?" Narcissa asked, her perfectly shaped eyebrow quirked, her lips pulled into a smirk.

"That's not the point," Lyra shifted uncomfortably. Narcissa paused in their aimless stroll.

"Lyra, you have to make your mind up," Narcissa ordered. "Now, I may not have been the most accepting of this match but it's what you wanted, and I stood by your decision. Now, this is life unfortunately where things happen that you don't expect" Lyra listened to her mother's lecture, one of her hard truths Lyra wasn't overly happy about hearing, "You know I didn't think I'd have the chance at another child after you" Narcissa admitted forcing Lyra to look up in shock. "Malfoy's only ever produced one heir, not two and the firstborn is not meant to be a girl"

Lyra smiled at her mother who was smiling down at her. Lyra let her mother take her hand.

"Now tell me, what are you going to do?" Narcissa asked. Lyra turned to look up into the Library window and found brown eyes staring back at her.

Hermione smiled at the memory as Lyra poured firewhisky,

"Oi Malfoy, fancy a game?" Hermione turned with Lyra to see George through a Quaffle at her. Lyra caught it easily, her reflexes still sharp.

"Alright but I get Charlie" Lyra stated as Ron handed her a broom,

"What am I pastry?" Ginny shouted in indication as she set Lily on the ground,

"It's not fair to have the two best chasers on the same team," Lyra said with a grin, Hermione watched them with Aurelian on her hip. Lyra was still good, not Ginny level good but still good.

"When I grow up, Mummy, I'm going to be the bestest Quidditch player" He grinned up at her. Hermione grinned down at him, thankful to have them at his current level. Lyra was the perfect parent to him. For months leading up to his birth, she had been a mess. Lyra hadn't had nightmares as much but as soon as she saw the projection at St Mungo's they returned. Even Blaise had told her to get a grip.

Aurelian was born at three am on the first of October, he was early, and small and perfect. Lyra had cried. Hermione hadn't told anyone. As far as their friends were concerned Lyra was the only one not to cry at their child's birth. Narcissa had been there with Mrs Weasley as soon as Hermione had woken to excruciating pain. Narcissa to keep Lyra from fainting and Molly to help her through. Lyra had held him all night while Hermione slept. She had woken to find Lyra asleep curled up in the chair, the small bundle wrapped against her chest. Hermione had managed to get a photo before she woke.

As soon as it came to Hermione having to go back to work, Lyra took Aurelian to the office with her. Hermione had tried to explain it wouldn't work but Lyra had made it work. She put work second to Aurey, they were the Malfoy duo that even Blaise couldn't say no too. If Lyra's glare didn't get their way Aurelian's begging face got them what they wanted. Hermione sat with her son while the adults got to be children for the afternoon. As the day wore on, the children became tired. Families returning to their own homes, leaving the burrow.

"Thank you for a lovely day, Molly," Hermione said embracing Mrs Weasley tightly. Lyra had Aurelian balanced on her hip fast asleep.

"Any time Hermione, you know you can drop Aurey of with the others anytime you need to be at work" Mrs Weasley often volunteered to watch him, Hermione knew she was lonely now that all her children had grown up, Hermione would have her watch him in a heartbeat but Lyra had been against it, saying that if Mrs Weasley started watching him, her mother would demand him also and that she didn't want Aurelian picking up habits from Hugo.

They walked to the Floo, both not wanting to apparate with Aurelian asleep. Stepping out of the floo back at the Estate, Lyra took Aurelian upstairs. She made his small glass of milk and found Arnold his toy dragon and followed them to Aurelian's room. She found Aurelian tucked into bed, his small body tucked in tight, Lyra stood watching over him. Hermione set the glass of milk down and kissed her son asleep. Setting the toy dragon into his arms, she took Lyra's hand and pulled her from her thoughts.

"Sickle for your thoughts?" Hermione asked quietly.

"Just thinking" Lyra admitted with a soft smile. Hermione returned it and kissed her softly.

"Let's go to bed, Mrs Malfoy"

Did you all really think I would kill her? Come on! :D

Well, I hope you enjoyed the final chapter!

It's been a long time coming but we're finally done. Lyra and I have been on a long journey together but we're finally at an end. I just want to thank everyone who has followed us from the start, middle and end, if it wasn't for you all it probably wouldn't have ever been completed.

As sad as it is to end I think Lyra and I are ready to move on to the next thing. As some of you know I have a current Supergirl story called the Ripple Effect which can be found here: /works/25772893/chapters/62594824

Now I know not everyone is ready to say goodbye to Lyra which is why I have planned to put up small fluff drabbles on my tumblr which can be found blog/helpbutton95

I'll also be taking prompts and asks for both the Supercorp fandom and for anything in the Older Malfoy verse.

So, all that's left for me to say is thank you once again for putting up with me and my terrible grammar, I hope you enjoyed the wild ride of the life of Lyra Malfoy.
