Chapter 2
It was almost time for their date or get together. Neither one of them was sure what to call it yet.
Caitlin wasn't really close enough to her roommate Iris to talk about this kind of stuff yet.
So, she called her old friend, Felicity who was also a mutual friend of Barry's and told her all about the situation. She asked Felicity for advice such as what to wear, how far to go. She had already had some plans, but she kept those to herself because she was afraid Felicity would spill it to Barry.
Finally, it was about 7ish. Caitlin had arrived at Jitters about 10 minutes early so she could look for Barry.
When Barry arrived in his car, he saw Caitlin was wearing a beautiful red dress with earrings. "Caitlin, you look gorgeous!"
Barry had never seen his best friend in this kind of light, it was stunning to him.
Caitlin had the biggest smile on and was blushing slightly. At the same time having trouble making eye contact.
Then Caitlin yanked Barry's hand a bit. "Common, I've got an idea."
Barry looked confused but just went with it.
"How are you at singing?" Caitlin asked as they walked into a karaoke bar.
As Caitlin hoped on stage, she started singing, "Sweet Caroline" by Neil Dimond. She hit almost every note on key. As the song ended, Barry along with everyone started applauding.
"That was amazing!" Barry exclaimed.
"Well, your turn."
"I'm not very good to be honest." Barry said modestly.
"Just go." Caitlin said jokingly as she pushed Barry up to the stage.
As Barry walked on stage, he started singing, "Blinding Lights" by The Weekend. Barry's voice was almost perfect as Caitlin stood there in awe. He hit every note on key. As the song ended, Caitlin along with everyone started applauding.
As he went back to his seat, Caitlin ran up to Barry, hugged him.
"That was amazing!" said Caitlin excitedly. Barry blushed slightly.
"No, I can't sing at all. I can't believe I let you hear that." He replied modestly.
"Are you kidding? That was amazing!" She replied.
Caitlin pulled on Barry's hand, "Common, let's get out of here Barry."
They preceded out of the karaoke bar. By the time they left it was already dark out, there was a full moon, and the sky was filled with stars. It was a beautiful night. They started to walk along next to the lake.
They eventually stopped at a bench that overlooked the water.
"So how you never actually told me Caitlin, how come you wanted to become a scientist?" asked Barry.
Caitlin replied, "Well, I was always kind of pushed in that direction by my mother to be honest. When I was little, I always wanted to play soccer professionally. But then the day tryouts, I tripped and tore my ACL. Then that was the end of that dream."
"Well think of it this way, if you had become a professional soccer player, you never would have met Cisco, Harry, and I."
Caitlin frowned then changed the subject quickly. She didn't particularly like talking about her past too much. "So how come you decided to become a CSI?"
"Well, when I was 11 my mom was murdered, and my father was wrongfully accused for it."
"I'm so sorry."
"It was a long time ago. Anyways, I've always thought that the Best way to get back is to make sure that what happened to me it doesn't happen to anyone else."
"You're a good person Barry."
Barry had suddenly fell for his best friend in just one night. He was surprised so little could lead to so much.
Then Barry turned towards Caitlin, looked her deep in the eyes, pulled her chin forwards ever so slightly and gave her a kiss. Sparkes flew for both of them, but the kiss only lasted about two seconds as she quickly pulled out.
"I'm really sorry Barry, I shouldn't have done that."
She got up and started to walk away.
"Cait, Wait!" Barry exclaimed.
But she had pretended she hadn't heard him and just kept on walking away.
