*4 Months Later*

After so long and very little information, finally they were able to locate him with the help of Mephisto. Rin was in a building downtown that was far into the depths of the alleyway. They had a plan to get Rin back, though they didn't really know what they were still up against. Suguro and Yukio are to enter first, Koneko, Shima and Izumo enter behind. Shiemi and Shura are to watch the rear as they enter.

Yukio and Suguro opened the door, rushing into the room, the area smelled of moldy water and bodily excrement. It nearly made Suguro gag at the smell. He brought his forearm up to block the smell, taking in the rundown room. It was dark, too dark for them to make out much of anything. Yukio fumbled with a flashlight. Gripping it in his hand, he finally switched it on. He wished he hadn't.

The light filled the room that was filled with piles of trash, a broken metal table that once held a bunch of knives. They were now scattered across the floor. Yukio moved the flashlight to the middle of the room. He slapped a hand over his mouth to keep from vomiting.

In the middle of the room was Rin, a chain around his neck, ankles and hands. He was in what looked to be a medical gown, torn in many different places, covered with puke and shit stains. He had so many cuts and scars on his body it made Suguro vomit. Rin didn't seem to flinch at the sudden sound of Suguro emptying his stomach. The only indication Yukio had that Rin was even alive was the slow rising and falling of his chest.

Yukio sucks in a breath, bringing his jacket up to cover the stench Rin leaked out. He squatted down, reaching a hand out, he gripped Rin's shoulder. That was a mistake.

Rin squealed, slapping the hand away as he quickly shot up, scooting until his back hit the wall. His head shot up allowing Yukio to see his face for the first time. His hair was longer, nearly obscuring his eyes. There was a scar that ran through both eyes and one on his cheek and chin. What startled Yukio the most was that Rin's eyes were milky white, no longer the fiery blue he remembered.

"Rin, it's okay. It's me, Yukio." He whispers, hoping that hearing Yukio's voice will help him. Yukio tried again, reaching for Rin's hand, but again was denied.

"Please! No more! I-I've been a good boy. D… did I upset you again?" Rin asked, nearly sobbing where he sat. He shifted into a bowing position, his hospital gown sliding down his back, revealing even more injuries and scars. Rin's forehead met the floor. "I-I meant no disrespect Master… please… not today… i… it hurts." He continued to ramble on about how much he didn't want to be hurt.

This was painful to watch, Suguro felt his heart ache and Shiemi was on the verge of tears. Everyone else was feeling the same as Suguro, even Koneko. Yukio placed a gentle hand on Rin's shoulder, not failing to notice the harsh flinch as he brought Rin up from the floor. In an attempt to earn some trust, Yukio wrapped his arms around Rin.

Rin stood stock still, unable to move where he sat. He was confused, scared and hurt. "Rin it's okay. All of us are here. You can come back to us." Yukio pleaded in a calming manner.

Rin slowly reached a hand up, gripped at the clothing Yukio wore. "Who… Who are you? D-did I die?" He asked.

Yukio got a bad feeling in his gut, pulling back he watched Rin's eyes search around him wildly, his hands reaching up until they touched Yukio's face. When he felt the glasses and the hair, Rin's eyebrows furrowed. "You… have glasses on? Are… Are you my rescuer? M-Master doesn't have glasses." Rin asked.

"Quit playing around Rin!" Suguro snapped.

Rin didn't budge at the sudden outburst, confirming Yukio's suspicion. "Rin can you hear me?" He asked.

Rin didn't answer, instead he continued to feel Yukio, trying to get a grip of what he was grabbing. Finally it was kicking in and Rin nearly cried. "Y-your an exorcist! Did you kill him? D-did you kill master?!" He threw himself into Yukio's arms, the painful sobs wracking his body like a tidal wave. "P-please take me away from here! I… Yukio! I need my brother and… my friends. Please I- I can't take another minute here!" He was sobbing so violently, Yukio shivered at the contact. This must have taken a lot out of him, because just as fast as he sobbed, he stopped. He fell limp in Yukio's arms, asleep.

No one said a word as they watched Yukio unlock the chains and wrap Rin into his coat. Suguro offered to carry Rin back since Yukio needed to focus on incoming attacks. Shura looked over at the knives, noticing the symbols on them. She walked over and collected two of them, before they all made their way out of the area and towards a hospital. Now in the light, Suguro looked down at Rin, noticing the many scars that just littered his face, neck and collarbone. It was as if he was carved in every exposed part of his body. The smell coming off of him was even more horrendous than they could handle.

When they entered the hospital, The staff was all over them about the way he looked and smelled. He was immediately taken back, given a bath and examined all while the team waited for news.

"What the hell did he go through?" Suguro finally asked, breaking the silence.

"From the state we found him in and the nonsense he was spouting, I can only guess he was tortured, broken and worst off all I think he is blind." Shura explained, placing a hand on her chin. "What I am concerned about is why he isn't healing. No matter the injury Rin never got scars."

The room went silent again for a long time. Eventually they fell asleep on the couches or in Shima's case the floor. They were awakened when the doctor cleared his throat, starling Yukio up first. Nearly tripping on his own feet and falling forward, Rin shot up out of the chair, catching himself on the wall.

"How is he? How is my brother?" He asked, not really giving himself time to think. Everyone was up on their feet, watching the doctor carefully.

The doctor shot them a sympathetic smile, putting his hands in front of him. "Well he's asleep now, but it's not very good news." He explained. He gave them a moment to breath before continuing. "He has multiple healing cuts that were starting to get infected. More than 85% of his body is scar tissue and he has suffered broken rib bones that didn't heal correctly. Our biggest concern is that his Tympanic Membrane in his ear was ruptured on purpose and probed many times to the point we believe it is causing permanent hearing loss. His eyes seemed to be suffering the same fate as the tissue on the surface of the eyes were damaged causing blindness. As far as we know these are all the major issues we could determine aside from the obvious malnourishment and dehydration. You may go see him, though be aware that he was sedated once already after punching one of the nurses in the face. He doesn't know where he is or who is with so we had him restrained until we figure out how to tell him." The doctor said, bowing.

The entire team seemed to be shocked at the announcement. Yukio was in disbelief, almost collapsing against the floor. Suguro was just as affected as Yukio. He doesn't know why, but having Rin be in this state really hurts to see. It made him upset. All he seems to want to do now is turn back time to that stupid argument and make sure Rin didn't leave. Yes he hated Rin there for a while, but after seeing him like this, it sparked something inside of him. Something he didn't know he could feel for Rin. guilt and a feeling to help him. Rin may refuse when he knows it's him, but all Suguro could think was he wanted to help Rin.

They followed the doctor to Rin's room, the door opening to reveal Rin wrapped in bandages lying on the hospital bed. His hands and feet were restrained but his eyes seemed to hold no emotion. He was awake, but not moving.

"Oh seems the young man woke up." He turned to them. "I will give you some time alone, but please keep your distance." He says, bowing before walking out of the room.

Yukio wasted no time and ran forward, grabbing for Rin's hand who flinched at the contact, trying to snatch his hand away. "Let me go." He whispered, his voice sounding dry.

"How do we tell him it's us?" Yukio asked.

"Does he know any form of braille or sign language?" Koneko asks.

Yukio shook his head. "No. I don't think so."

Suguro stepped forward and grabbed Rin's hand. He traced his fingers along Rin's wrist, causing the boy to be startled. Rin started sounding out the words he traced. "S...U...G...U.. wait S-Suguro?"

Suguro wrote yes, causing a new flood of tears to escape him. "You were the ones who found me? How?"

Mephisto.

Rin nearly choked on his tears, Yukio deciding to unstrap his arm which immediately shot up to wipe his tears away.

"Clever, Suguro." Yukio praised.

"W-who is all here?" Rin asked.

All of us. Even Shura. He wrote, though it took a couple minutes for Rin to interpret what was being written on his arm.

"Y-Yukio?" He asked.

Right next to you. It was a delayed reaction, but Rin shot his head to Yukio, new tears spilling as he reached his now free hand to grip Yukio's.

"T-thank you guys f-f-for finding-finding me." He stuttered, cringing at himself, knowing he wasn't saying complete sentences.

Sorry we didn't come for you sooner. We didn't have v-

"S-slow down, Suguro. I can't keep up with your letters." Rin says, blushing slightly.

Suguro Complied, writing his message slower. We didn't have much evidence to go on. You were missing for 4 months, Okumura,

Rin, despite the news, only cared about one thing from that whole explanation. "You… can call me Rin." He says slowly.

Suguro shot back in surprise. Did Rin even read him? There was silence in the room, before Rin reached over and grabbed a hold of Suguro. "A...Are you guys leaving?" He asked, his voice coming out so broken, it seemed to clench everyone's hearts. "I...I don't want to be alone… Please…. Don't leave me." His grip tightened around Suguro's hand specifically almost as if he let go he would disappear with the wind.

Suguro looked over at Yukio who was smiling slightly. "Since Rin is up and talking, I think it's safe to say he will be in good hands." Says Shura. She turned to the others. "We should get some rest. Come on." She ushers unwilling students out of the room, closing the door behind her.

Yukio stood up. "I'm going to get some food from the cafeteria. Need anything?"

"Some coffee and a red bean bun." He says. Yukio nods, disappearing out of the room. Suguro unlatches Rin's restraints all the while Rin holds onto his hand.

Once that was done, Suguro sat down in the chair, bringing it to the side of the bed so he could continue to hold Rin's hand. They sat in silence, Rin seeming to nod off to sleep every few seconds.

Suguro tapped Rin's arm, grabbing his attention before gliding his fingers along slowly. Get some sleep Rin. He wrote.

Rin's eyes held panic. "W-will you stay with me?!" He begged, his voice breathless.

Yes. Yukio is here too. He signs.

Rin seemed to relax against the bed, looking up at the ceiling. "J-just to warn you I… have horrible Night T-terrors. When I got them I would be… punished for uhm… s-screaming." He says, his breathing picking up slightly, something Suguro caught onto. Suguro made a face of disgust, squeezing Rin's hand.

Sleep. Nothing like that will happen again. He wrote, giving his arm a gentle squeeze to alert him. Rin nodded, finally accepting his exhaustion and fell asleep, his hand still clutching to Suguro's like a lifeline. Despite everything, Suguro didn't mind holding hands, as long as it made him feel safe.
