He entered the room and approached the desk sitting in front of it as Albus looked up at him curiously.
"Filius you wanted to see me. Is everything alright?" he asked carefully.
"Quite frankly Albus no it is not alright. You have staff here who do not do all they should be doing and I am tired of it!" he snapped as Albus jumped.
"Please Filius I have had words with Severus ok. He will do better I promise!" he said desperately as a stunned Flitwick smacked his hand on the table in rage.
"Your problem Albus is that you get so in your own head that you fail to even understand to what I am referring! Did I mention Severus? You know it's not always all about him! I was referencing Sybil and Rolanda etc. They teach their lessons and then do nothing else. We need more staff to oversee the students as we are outnumbered. Also each head of house needs a deputy head of house who can do things when they cannot be in their houses. You ask far too much of certain staff and not enough of others. We are well outnumbered by the students something I shouldn't even have to point out. How do you intend to fix this?" he asked seriously as Albus paled. He hadn't expected this.
"You are right Filius and I am sorry for my assumptions it's just I always hear complaints about Severus and quite frankly I am sick of it. To be honest asides from Sybil it is in the contract of the other teachers to help in looking after the students outside classes. I didn't do the same for Sybil as the inner eye can be unpredictable and I didn't want to inhibit her. I can ask her to help out more no problem!" he responded as Filius looked at him seriously.
"Her inner eye? Albus that can occur at any time even in the middle of a lesson. I could have asked Minerva to do this but thought to come to you with it first. Each subject needs an assistant teacher to help us out in our lectures as we can't be everywhere at once and might miss something important with someone. Will you hire the twelve or so new people we need or does Minerva need to do that. I don't mean to insult you sir but your record of choosing people leaves much to be desired!" he said as Albus bristled.
"It is not my fault that everyone I ever thought deserved a second chance proved me wrong is it? I can't help that it happened can I? I am so sick of people not being who they say they are as well. You know what since Harry died my head has been all over the place. I will leave that for Minerva to choose. Unfortunately because of her actions I now have Hagrid to contend with who is devastated at the loss of Aragog and can no longer bring himself to work. It's not fair. Why the hell am I always lumbered with the martyrs or hard luck cases! Be thankful you don't have to contend with him!" he snapped his irritation evident.
"Have you asked him what he needs? Have you seen what will make him better? A lot of people when they grieve need something to do and him having nothing to do is dangerous. There's no point expecting him to just get on with his duties as though it never happened. The point is Hagrid had many unusual friends we didn't understand Aragog being one of those. He will of course be sad and you know you could be a bit reasonable and warm with him. My goodness anyone would think you'd been a Slytherin!" he tutted at Albus disapprovingly.
"Yes well I would never have been a Slytherin I am not nearly greedy enough for that. I asked him what he needed and he said he didn't know and cried all over my damn office. When I asked him to try and think of anything he snapped at me telling me I never truly liked Aragog and was happy he was dead. He blamed me for the death of Harry Potter too. I think we all know that the death eaters were the ones responsible for that and not me thank you very much. Filius you are good with initial impressions tell me what you think of Miss Black? To be honest I was disgusted with Slytherin house the other night. Whether we like it or not Miss Granger was targeted for grieving her best friend and I will not stand for it which I said!" he snapped as Filius looked at him for a while deep in thought.
"Well either way that speech was very poorly worded and you should have known better. Sometimes it's better to walk before you attempt to run. Slytherin house left because it sounded as though you were saying that Miss Grangers grief was somehow worse than Miss Blacks because it was Harry Potter she had known who died. I sincerely hope not. That is the beauty of Slytherin one must admit. They know how to make a huge statement without opening their mouths. Sometimes I wish my own ravens could be so clever. As for Miss Black she is a wonderful and most charming student. She performs very well in class and always gets top marks. I cannot complain about her to be honest" he said seriously as Albus scowled. He didn't need to be told off by Filius. What the hell was he employing him for if not to do as he's told and shut his mouth?
"What of Miss Granger?" he asked suddenly.
"Well Miss Granger is not doing as well as she usually does as of late but that could be due to her grieving I am not sure. To be honest Albus I am worried about her. She has started to resent Mr Weasley her husband because he is not showing his grief in the same way she is. It is annoying to say the least. He doesn't need that from her. It doesn't help one bit. He is suffering and anyone can see it. To be honest he and Mr Potter never understood one another and this is something Mr Potter told me about before. I was at his will reading sir as you know now I want to know if you know why he told me I was the only teacher he had who ever thought of him as just another student?" he asked as Albus thought about it.
"I have been wondering about that myself and quite honestly I was disappointed in him for saying it at all. I mean he singled you out and clearly snubbed all of his other teachers as though they didn't matter which they did. Take Severus for example he and Mr Potter never got on because neither one of those thick idiots had an ounce of compassion. I can see they weren't shown any but I am sick of it. What do you make of this new Hogwarts house? I am disgusted that only a few students were singled out and that it said Slytherin was the house to unite them all. This goes against everything I believe in and makes me feel quite ill. It should have been Gryffindor but no those slimy bastards had to steal their thunder at the last moment. Mark my words Gryffindor will be great again!" he threatened as Filius eyed him weirdly.
"Albus the only time Gryffindor wasn't great were in those moments when they turned on the late Mr Potter. I could say myself that Ravenclaw should have been the ones to unite the school because technically as the smartest house they should have but they weren't and I personally am delighted for Slytherin. Who knows maybe now Severus might have an actual reason to smile" he said seriously. Albus bid Filius goodbye as he had much to think about. Unfortunately for him he wasn't alone long as his door was thrown open wildly and banged with loud force against his wall.
