The War Rages On!
Back at the Plateau, the war was still continuing, with no end. While Ash's team had the numbers, Team Rainbow Rocket had more power backing them up with some of the strongest Pokemon known to man. Everyone was scrambling around the battlefield, commanding their own pokemon. In the sky, Moltres and Articuno circled around Dialga and Palkia, hitting them with Blizzard and Flamethrower. Latios and Latias took on the Legendary Pokemon of the Earth and the Sea from their region, speeding above their heads hitting them with Luster Purges. Entei and Shaymin, alongside Lance's Dragon Pokemon all worked together to battle Reshiram and Zekrom. Ash then skidded to a halt when he saw Darkrai taking on Xerneas and Yveltal alone.
"You alright there pal?" Ash yelled.
Darkrai hovered in the air drawing the attention of Xerneas. 'I'm all set here Ash! Even though our circumstances aren't the best-' Darkrai paused, dodging a Moonblast that struck Yveltal which had flown up behind Darkrai. '-I'm having a great time.'
The battle was coming to an end. Pokemon from both sides had been knocked unconscious. A major turning point from the battle, however, was when Darkrai managed to single handedly take down Xerneas and Yveltal, causing them to faint, by primarily directing their own attacks at the other. This meant that it could double team the remainder of the powerful legendaries with the remaining ally Pokemon. Eventually, the only Pokemon that were standing tall on the opposing side were Groudon, Kyogre, Dialga, Zekrom, and Giovanni's Rhyperior, Lysandre's Mega Gyarados and 1 of the 3 Crobats. As for the heroes, they had Darkrai, Latios, Latias, Shaymin, Entei, Infernape, Lucario, Sceptile, Salamence and Blastoise from Ash, Snorlax, Blaziken, and Zoroark, all from May's Team, Lance's three Dragonites, Paul and Dawn's Electivire and Togekiss, Ritchie's Zippo, Gary's Electivire and Blastoise, Harrison's Blaziken and Pidgeot, and The Mask's Full Team of 6. It was eventually clear who the true victor was.
"It's over Giovanni!" Ash yelled. "The fighting can stop. Charizard and Mewtwo are long gone and there is nothing you can do about it!"
"Hmmm…" Giovanni said.
"It's over, Boss," Archie said, returning his Kyogre. "We've lost." One by one, the members of Team Rainbow Rocket withdrew their Pokemon from the battle. All except Giovanni and his Rhyperior.
"Your brilliant plan failed," Ghetsus shouted in an angered tone.
"Go then you fools!" Giovanni yelled. "Report back to the Castle and take the warp portals back to your own dimensions! I have what I need and no longer need your assistance." Each Team Rainbow Rocket Admin pulled out a small black device. Pressing the buttons, the Evil Leaders teleported off the battlefield one at a time, leaving only their leader.
"By order of the Kanto Police Force," Lance said, stepping forwards, with his Dragonite at his side. "You're under arrest."
In a split second, Lance was cloaked in a green light. He then passed out and fell to the ground, frozen in place by the psychic attack. Behind him, floating in the air, was Giovanni's Mewtwo. Over its left shoulder was Ash's Mewtwo (distinguished by its purple tail), and in its left hand was Ash's Charizard, being dragged by the throat. In its free hand was Ash's golden, bejeweled crown.
The green Mewtwo teleported to the side of its master, handed over the crown and threw Ash's two Pokemon to the ground. Ash's Pokemon rose up to their feet with their eyes glowing green.
"And now the final piece of my grand scheme falls into place," The Rocket Leader taunted, holding up Ash's crown.
"Mewtwo! Charizard!" Ash called, with worry in his voice. Ash's Mewtwo sent out a Psychic wave, knocking everybody backwards, causing every Pokemon from Ash's side to be knocked unconscious. Ash's Charizard sent a Flamethrower across the ground in front of them, setting the grass on fire, setting up a barrier between the Team and Giovanni.
"I will say," uttered the Rocket's Leader. "I do have a Charizard of my own. Glad to see that it will have a new punching bag. As for your Mewtwo, well, let's just say I have big plans for it." Mewtwo, one of Ash's greatest companions- the main reason why Team Rocket was able to be taken down by Ash so easily in the first place... had fallen under the control of a much stronger, Psychic opponent. Meanwhile Charizard, one of Ash's most loyal Pokemon, whom he had shared many cherished memories with, showed no recognition of its trainer.
"Oh no!" May said. "They're brainwashed!"
"They're under the same control as the Pokemon from the first battle in the forest," said Ritchie. "I recognize those glowing green eyes!"
"Yes. Mind control," Giovanni said. "To take away the will of another is quite a dastardly deed in itself. That is why it is much easier when the other party just complies and hand over whatever it is that I desire. Just imagine all those years ago... what it would have been like if you had just handed over all of your Pokemon to your friends like I asked them to." Ash widened upon learning this bit of information. This was the moment that Ash had learned that this Giovanni standing before him was the man that sought out to ruin his life. It had never been the crime boss of the Kanto Region. It had been a crime boss from another dimension, with a much more serious agenda. One that involved the capture of a God.
"I should've known you were behind all of this," the Mask said.
"Very true, trainer from Pallet town," Giovanni said. "And if I'm not mistaken, I remember you from my own universe. Of course your face wasn't hidden behind a mask, then."
"Tell you what," The Mask said. Approaching the wall of flames separating him and Giovani, the Mask tried to reason with him. "How about you let all of these kids go, keep the crown, and I take you to where you need to go."
"Dad," Ash said. "You can't let him do this."
"Ash," The Mask said. "I'm not who you think I am. I have a lot of explaining to do. But for now your protection is what matters most to me. I made a promise a long time ago…"
"Oh shut it," Giovanni said. "I don't need you for my plan to work. I can do it all by myself."
Without warning, Giovanni's Rhyperior fired off a close-range Rock Wrecker attack directly at the Mask. The Mask's Venusaur, who had just regained consciousness after Mewtwo's attack, shot out a large vine, splitting the boulder into smaller pieces and striking the enemy Rhyperior. The momentum from the rock fragments continued, hitting the Mask in the face, causing the thing that was hiding his true identity to split in two. The Mask fell forwards onto his knees, before falling face down in the grass.
"Dad!" Ash shouted after the Mask had been struck in the face, running up next to his limp body. "Take care of him Saur. I'm taking on Giovanni and getting my Pokemon back." Ash created an Aura shield around himself and stepped over the flames, which reignited behind him.
"Ash, don't do this!" May screamed, as she watched her fiance walk towards their enemy. "They might hurt you!"
Ash stood there by himself, no Pokemon or friends at his side. His plan was to reason with his two Pokemon and try and get them back onto their side. Before Ash could say any words, Giovanni's Mewtwo created two Mewtwo Balls, that captured both Ash's Mewtwo and Charizard. The two balls levitated over to Giovanni's hand. "No!" Ash cried out, watching two of his loyal Pokemon being taken away from him.
"Ta-ta for now Ash," the man of pure evil said. "Till we meet again… Actually… No… Mewtwo, kill them all. Whatever it takes..."
Giovanni teleported away and his Mewtwo hunched forward with harsh green eyes. It bared its teeth as Psychic bolts ran over its body. Flying through the flames was Ash's Darkrai in an attempt to save its trainer, but it was unsuccessful in fighting Mewtwo. Mewtwo gripped it by the arm as it flew by, spun it around, and sent it flying into a tree, which split in two upon collision. Darkrai laid at the base of the tree unconscious. Mewtwo turned back at Ash, preparing to mutilate him. Ash set up an Aura barrier after Aura barrier trying to slow down its pace, but nothing was stopping it. After the green Mewtwo had broken through every shield by slashing through it with Psychic energy, it approached Ash and gripped him by the throat and raised him into the air with a single arm. Using its Psychic energy, its free arm became a long, green scythe. Ash began to suffocate as he heard May and his friends screaming and yelling in the background begging for mercy upon Ash. Everything began to go dark for the trainer, until the ferocious Pokemon released its grip, as if it was being restrained by something. Ash took a deep breath of air into his lungs, as he was able to see the person and Pokemon that had come to his rescue.
