PART 1
He closed down the entire restaurant for us. We dine on top of a tower, one of the highest ones in all of Gandara. I had seen it on television, it's a tourist resort, almost everyone that visits the city dines here. The entire city can be seen from so high up.
"It recovered fast from what I've read," I say, looking out one of the large panel windows.
"Yes. Zein, Koenma, and Touya, really stepped up back then," he replies. Sitting right across from me on our table for four. There's a chandelier right above us, the tablecloths are white and gold, the utensils and plates are crystals and silver. There are two waiters standing by the door, and I can hear the kitchen staff preparing our meal behind one of the walls.
"I went to speak to Zein." He lifts his face my way, I can tell his eyes flinch a little, even though they are closed. "You know me. I don't like playing games."
"Did you get the answers you were seeking?" He asks.
"From him?" I clarify. "Yes. It appears that his relationship with Koenma is real."
"It is. I couldn't believe it either."
"Is that why you showed up on his wedding day to ask him to marry you instead?"
We look at each other in silence, my face stuck in a cold glare.
"Yes," he answers, very collected.
Surprisingly, his answer doesn't hurt at all. At least he's honest.
"Did you love him more than you loved me?"
"I didn't love him more, I loved him differently. And I didn't loved you…" He doesn't finish the sentence. He sits up straight in his chair, tilts his head up a little to speak, "I would have been happy with him, but he wouldn't have been happy with me. I was never going to be able to give him what he wanted. The moment I realized Koenma really cared about him, I let him go. Zein deserves to be loved and cherished like a King. He deserves way much more than what I could have ever given him."
"Yes, he does."
I flag down the waiter to fill my cup with wine again, and he does so quick.
"I've missed you," Yomi says. "Every single second, I missed you."
I drink. The waiter returns to his place by the door, and I want to punch Yomi in the face. "When I remembered everything, darkness swallowed me whole. I wanted to kill you. I still am not sure the grave is not where this relationship will end. I hated everyone, for moving on with their lives while I didn't. I hated my human heart, my weakness for you. I have not forgiven you, Yomi. And I can not certify that what I feel for you at this moment is love… I am disgusted with us. I am disgusted with what we lived."
"Is that what is stopping you from coming back to me? The idea that what we have isn't 'pretty?'" He stands up and walks to me, turning my chair slightly to the side and getting down on his knees once again in front of me. "It was all my fault. I take the responsibility, I hurt you-"
"No. No, it wasn't just you, and you know it."
"It doesn't matter, I'll take the blame. The Universe can punish me."
"Yomi-"
"So what if it was ugly?" He says, "That doesn't mean I will make the same mistakes."
I lift my hand to remove the antenna from behind his ears. "I don't want you to see me like this." Broken. Hurt. Devastated. Weak. I don't want him to see this side of me.
"Then I won't."
I close my eyes, "I don't want to see myself like this." I don't want to want you. I don't want to see myself yearning for your touch. "We are disgusting."
"You are my light."
"WE are DISGUSTING!" The words burn my mouth. I know this is true. We are gross, we are nasty. Our so called love was never even real.
His hands grip up my tights. They are big, and strong, and burn like fire. He pushes them up against me slowly, circling my waist. His chest lifts up pushing against mine, "Then I'll be disgusting. I don't care," He says into my ear. "As long as I'm with you."
He holds me.
My nose gets tugged under his neck and I can smell the blood under his arteries. I can hear is swooshing under his skin. I can smell the scent of the earth. My earth. My love. I lift both hands and hug him back. The tips of my fingers go up, caressing the nape of his neck, playing with strands of hair.
My heart relaxes. This is home. He is mine.
"We were disgusting, but we can be different now. We can be 'pretty.'" He tucks my hair behind my ears, pulls my face to him. "Love, open your eyes." His lips trace my jawline, my entire body melts, my lower half feels like warm water. "Look at me," he says in the sweetest voice. "Look at us."
I do.
"I love you, Shuichi. And I will make you happy, until the day I die."
I touch his face with my fingers, the face I've been wanting to kiss for so long. "Did you know you smell like dirt?" I give him a very small smile.
I reach for the antenna and place it back behind his ears.
We can see each other now, who cares is we are ugly?
"Did you know, you smell like roses?" He asks me, smiling too.
"Did you know my favorite thing about your body is your horns?" I grab one of them, pulling him closer to my face.
"Did you know my favorite thing about your body is your ass?"
I laugh and push him away. "You're the worst."
"It's perfect! I remember!"
I continue to laugh.
"Your lashes."
I look at him, "Now that I can see you, my favorite thing about your body is your eyelashes."
He brushes through them with his index finger. "They are so bold and so long. So pretty."
"The food is ready, My Lord," One of the waiters states, placing our dishes on the table.
Yomi raises from the floor and goes to sit back in his chair. The food looks amazing, meats and shrimp, and greens. We dine and drink wine. We talk for hours about Gandara and the forest. We laugh and enjoy the company.
We don't feel as disgusting anymore.
PART 2
(YOMI'S PVO!)
I walk into my room, and all of them jump out of nowhere. No privacy at all.
"How was it?" That's Zein.
"Where is he?" That's Yusuke.
"Did you make up?" Zein again.
"Did you kiss?" Mukuro, mocking me like always.
"When is the wedding?" Koenma.
"All of you! Get out of my room! Are y'all crazy?"
"I don't mother-fucking-think-so!" Mukuro replies, throwing one arm around me and swinging me around to sit on the bed. "You have dragged all of us around through this entire fiasco and now you want us to bounce?! We want details! I demand it! I think we have all earned it!"
"You want details about my date?" My face twists uncontrollably.
"Well not the sex part, you can leave that out," she replies.
"Are you guys back together now?" Yusuke asks.
"Will the endless moping now end?" Hiei is also in on this, unbelievable.
"Okay fine, everyone, just shut up!"
They all circle around me and wait for me to speak. Why do I suddenly feel so young?
"I took him to a nice restaurant…"
"Okay."
"Okay, very good."
"We ate, we talked, and we bowled, and now I am back home."
"Wait," Had to be Yusuke, "What? That's it?"
"You were out for four hours, at least he didn't want to leave early." Zein chimes. "That's always a plus."
"You bowled?" Mukuro laughs. "This little human has you wrapped around his finger!"
I smile because she is right, "It was fun."
"Is there plans for a second date?" That's Yusuke.
"Is there plans for a wedding?" Zein.
"I wish." I reply. "I actually asked him to go with me to Princess Graces' presentation, but he said he was going on his own. I don't want to push myself on him, so I'll give him time."
I remember holding him in my arms for those briefs seconds, the smell of roses, and smile.
"You're blushing, you freak!" Mukuro scowls. "You are such a perv!"
"You're the one waiting for me at home to hear the details!"
"Well, all and all, I think it was a pretty good first date," Koenma smiles. "Let's go back home. We still have many details to arrange for our daughter's presentation into the world."
Zein holds him from behind, "I hope all of you are ready, because it is going to be amazing! Don't be late."
"Good luck, Yomi. We are all rooting for you," Koenma adds, and they both disappear back to Spirt World.
"Lift to my town?" Yusuke asks.
"Well, I don't really have a choice," Mukuro swings he sword and a portal opens.
"Keep us on the loop, okay?" Yusuke says before jumping in. "And please, take care of Kurama."
"I swear it," I reply.
"All right then."
As soon as everyone is gone I pick up the phone and dial his number. I know I just dropped him off, but I miss him. I want to hear his voice.
"Hello?"
"Hey, it's me."
"I'm glad to hear you got home safely."
"Thank you for a wonderful night."
"I had a lot of fun. I enjoy your company."
"I hope I get to see you soon."
"I'll see you at The Princess' presentation. Save a seat for me, okay?"
My chest is so full, I could die right now and be happy.
"Yes, of course. I will see you then. I already miss you."
There's a silence, but then out of no-where the best thing I've heard in all of my life. "I always miss you, Yomi. Goodnight."
