Hey Everyone,

Sooo sorry for making you guys wait on my stories, especially this one. With my new class, being the first holidays without my uncle, and a few family health things, I had to take a break for this that I didn't plan on. I hope that you are all still with me. I hope to be back on schedule with both stories. This one Every other Tuesday and The Swan Family every Saturday.

Here is the Papa date. This is something that my Papa and I still do, and I hope that you enjoy the cuteness. Let me know what you think and Happy Reading!

I don't own any of the Twilight materials or characters, I just make them get interrogated by their Papa😉.

Chapter 32: Papa and His Princesses

The next morning, Papa held the door of the diner open for us and we walked in. Naturally, Margie pounced.

"Oh, my favorite little birdies! How are you girls today? The usual booth, Chuck?" she asked, and Papa nodded. "Okay, you girls want coloring sheets, or is Bella too old for a coloring sheet," she said winking at me.

"Yes, please!" Nessie said. "Coloring with me sisi, please?"

"Okay, I'll have one too, please."

"Oh, you Swan girls are always so polite! Here you go. And you want your usual breakfast today or would you like something different today?" Margie asked.

"The usual, please, Margie," Papa said and walked us over to our normal table. Nessie and I scooted into one side of the booth, and Papa into the other. Margie brought over Papa's coffee and our hot cocoa.

"There are your drinks and the food'll be out soon. Enjoy!"

We each took a sip of our drinks and set the mugs back down. Margie always puts creamer in our hot cocoa so that we didn't burn our mouths. Margie's hot cocoa was always delicious.

"So, your Daddy tells me that I need to ask some Papa questions about a certain boy," Papa started. Nessie giggled and covered her mouth.

"You're right, Papa," Nessie said and then leaned across the table to whisper. "Bella has a boyfriend."

"Nesmee, I do not. Don't start, please. This is why I keep dodging mom's questions about the dance."

"He is so your boyfriend. And you love him and you're going to get married and live happily ever after just like a princess. Just like Bianca, Bella."

Papa chuckled. "Now, Nesmee, hold your horses. Your sister is only twelve, and I'm sure your Daddy doesn't want to marry her off just yet. Besides, you don't want her to move out, do you?"

Nesmee looked upset and confused. "Why would Bella have to move out, Papa?"

"Because when you get married, you live together. So she would live with Edward and not at our house anymore."

"No! Bella's never moving out. Not without me. Right, Sisi?"

"Well, Sisi, I can't say never, but I promise to stay close, okay? Maybe when we are both at college, we can get an apartment together. Does that sound okay?" I asked, hoping to ease some of her worries. She still seemed a little upset but nodded.

"All right," Papa said. "Back to my interrogation. Do you like the Cullen boy?" Papa asked.

"You're just going to tell Daddy everything I say," I answer, calling Papa's bluff.

"Your Daddy is my son. I don't have to tell him anything. Me and Old Ed go way back. We fought in the Revolutionary War together," he said with a wink. Nessie and I giggled.

"You're not that old, Papa," Nesmee giggled. "Daddy said you were 65. That's too young for that war."

"Oh no, Bells. She figured me out," he said, raising his eyebrow at me. I giggled and shook my head. "Anyway, what I'm saying is that I've known the Cullens since they moved here. They've always been good, honest, decent people. Carlisle and his siblings were raised that way and – from what I can tell – all their children are the same way. What I'm trying to say is that if you did like him," he said, pausing to look at me. "I think that your Dad will be easier on him because he's a good kid. Your Dad and Carl have been friends since high school. I know that people make it tough on you because your Dad is the police chief. They used to do it him and your Aunties when I was in there. But know that your Daddy and Momma only want to protect you, okay?" Papa finished. Nessie and I nodded. I liked having Papa on my side, maybe that would help with Daddy. Hey, a girl could hope, right?

Margie brought over our food, French toast with Blueberry syrup and Bacon for Nessie and me, and the Lumber Jack Platter for Papa. We finished our breakfast and hot cocoas and coffee. When we left, Papa bought us all drinks to go.

"Here we go, Chuck. Girls," Margie said hand us our to-go cups. Papa always bought us an extra cup of hot cocoa.

"Don't tell your Momma and Nana about the second hot Cocoa, they'll yell at Papa for giving you too much sugar. Just brush your teeth really well tonight," Papa whispered with a wink.

After we had our drinks, we walked over to the park down the street where Papa always pushed us on the swings when it's nice.

"Not where I can't see you, Nesmee!"

"Yess, Papa!"

"Bella-Bug, come here for a second?"

I nodded and sat down with him on one of the benches closest to the swings.

"About what I was saying at the diner earlier," Papa started as he turned toward me a little. "I'm sure your Daddy is going to run Edward through the wringer a bit. God, knows I did with your Aunties boyfriends. I made your Uncle Felix clean out the gutters the first Christmas that your Aunt Char brought him home," Papa admitted in a whisper. I giggled at that story.

"Is that why they have those gutter guards on their new house?"

"Part of it, I'm sure," Papa said, laughing. "That just means that I did my job. See, there's a reason why police chiefs are like that with their daughters. Every father should be protective and loving, but policemen know that there are some crazies out there. Crazier than your Papa. We police officers go a little crazy when our little girls get old enough to date because our biggest fear is you bringing one of those crazies home to meet us. I'm sure that your Daddy is going to go overboard in the next few years, both with you and Nessie getting older and the boys you date, but that's only because Swan Daddies think their baby girls deserve the world and then some. Sweetheart, you didn't ask for my opinion on your dating life, but I'm old and your papa so I'm going to give it. If a boy is scared away by the fact that your father is a police Chief, they probably weren't worth your time in the first place. And If they get too scared of the fact that he owns a gun, I'm sure that your Momma and Nana will keep him in check. It should only be a healthy fear. Okay," he said, and I nodded. "As your Papa, I am obligated, to act as your Daddy's back-up. But I promise to go easy, on Edward at least," he finished with a wink.

I leaned over to give him a big hug. "Thank you, Papa," I said into his shoulder. Papa had given me a lot to think about, so I told him what I was really worried about. Papa was always a good ear when he wasn't pretending that he was too old to hear.

"Well, I do really like him. He's nice and sweet and he defends me when people are mean to me. HE even fits Auntie Rachel's criteria," I said.

"Which is what?"

"He's tall enough for me to wear heels," I said with a giggle.

"That sounds like your Auntie," he chuckled. "I'm sensing a 'but' coming." Papa looked over at the swing set and Nesmee was on one of the "big girl swings". Over the summer, I taught her how to kick herself on the swing. She was doing really well, but Papa looked kind of worried.

"Not too high, Nesmee!"

"Yes, Papa. I'll be careful."

"Back to your 'but', Belly."

"Right, but I'm worried that when Momma and Esme find out…there is going to be a lot of pressure for us to be together. Like Momma and Esme will start planning our whole lives. Like you said, we're 12, we're kids," I trailed off.

"Now, I can't say that your Momma isn't gonna be excited, probably too excited, your Nana too. But, that is your Momma's prerogative, just like it's your Daddy's to maybe display his service pistol on the table the first few times that Edward comes over. Just like it was Nana's to show your Momma all of your dad's baby pictures. The good thing about the mom thing is that I'm absolutely sure that Esme is going to embarrass Edward just as much as your Momma is going to embarrass you, probably more. No man wants his girlfriend to see the little sailor outfit that their mother forced them into when they were two," Papa said with a small chuckle. "But, your Momma is going to embarrass you, and probably make you blush with the things that she says in front of Edward. But that stuff works that same way as the gun thing with your Daddy. Let me ask you something. The other day when you stayed over at the Cullens, did Esme say anything that made Edward blush or look uncomfortable?"

"Yeah, a few things. He yelled at her about some of the things that she said while Alice and I were in the kitchen with her. He got upset that she was talking about us like we were a couple."

"Okay, and did that make you uncomfortable, or did you kind of like that she seemed okay with the idea of you with her son?"

I thought about it for a second. "I guess a little bit of both."

"See, now it will probably be the same with him and the stuff that your Momma says. He really likes you, Bella-Bug. I could tell, even at the open house. I mean what's not to like. Look at your Nana, Momma, and your Aunties. You and Nessie have some good genes and role models. I'm just saying."

I laughed at him and rolled my eyes. "You have to say I'm a catch. I'm your granddaughter."

"Doesn't mean that it's not true, sweet girl. You just remember that when you think about yourself. And just so you know, I like Edward. He's good kid who seems to like you a lot, looks at you like you hung the moon. Just don't tell your Dad. I'm obligated to be on his side," Papa said winking at me. It was nice to know that he was on my side, at least in secret.

"Thank you, Papa."

"No problem, Bella-Bug." He leaned in closer so that only I could hear what he was going to say next. "And I can tell that you really like him, too. Don't worry, I won't tell you Daddy that either." He pulled away and winked again. Just as I was going to say something, Nessie ran over and grabbed our hands.

"Bella! Papa! It's no fun playing by myself! Come on, swing with me!"

"Okay, Nesser! Let's go."

I went over to the swings and played with Nesmee, but I was only half there. The other half of me was thinking of all the things that Papa and I had talked about. I did feel a little better. Papa helped me look at it from a new perspective, but I was still a little worried about it. Maybe I should talk to the girls about it. Right now, I had to beat my sister in a height contest.

End Note: Again, I'm sorry that I have been away from my stories lately, especially with this story. I hope that I can get back ahead of the typing and back on track. This Story will be every other Tuesday and The Swan Family will be every Saturday. The next Chapter I think will be the movie premiere and after that Friends-giving with everyone at the Cullens House. Thank you again for reading and look for my new chapter for The Swan Family, hopefully later tonight, or early tomorrow.
