Maura and Jane pulled up to Hope's house, the drive over was spent in silence. Jane felt like their mission failed completely, sure Gabriel Dean was gone but it didn't seem much like a victory since Camille's fate was the same. Camille was like family to them all, she meant a huge deal to their lives and now she was gone. Jane sighed, noticing her brother approach the car, he tapped on the window which Maura rolled down.

"Hey Jane, Maura," he gave them a nod looking paler than Jane has ever seen him. "I'm really sorry that this happened, the weapon was left in the kitchen, we're hoping to get fingerprints off and find out who's done this. The coroner took Camille already, Hope wasn't home when the incident happened, and Cailin is in the backyard with the twins who haven't spoke yet.

"Thanks for the update," was all Jane said as they exited the car and went through the fence to the backyard to see Cailin with the kids on the swing. The twins just looked at the adults looking scared and sad, Cailin got up to give both Jane and Maura a hug, her eyes red from the crying.

"I can't believe that she's gone," Cailin tried to hold back tears, but once she spoke they came out again. "I should have done something more..."

After a few moments, Maura told them she would go sit with the children, knowing Cailin had to discuss stuff with Jane, once she sat on the swing Jane turned back to Cailin. "You've done something, the kids weren't injured physically, they were safe, you were able to protect them."

"But I couldn't protect Camille..." Cailin looked down feeling like she was going to throw up, like she did after the coroner took Camille's body. "I want to help you get who did this."

"We're going to get him, I promise," Jane rested her hand on Cailin's shoulder.

"Why do you have blood on your shirt?" Cailin took notice.

"Long story, we can talk about that later. I know you probably already got interviewed by Frankie but I want you to tell me what exactly happened. Why was Camille the only one harmed?"

"Well we were getting the twins ready for bed and I was reading them to sleep when Camille went down to make some tea for us. Moments later I heard a gunshot, told the kids to hide in the closet and I called the ambulance, then when I went downstairs the person was gone, he must have heard the sirens and vanished. Camille had two bullet wounds in her chest and then... the paramedics got here and they tried to revive her, but by then it was... then she was gone... I seen bloody footprints leading out the front door..."

Jane listened to her story of what happened, "Did the twins see her body?"

Cailin shook her head, "No, they didn't see her, but they knew what happened. Camille had this way about her, you could tell something was wrong," she wiped her eyes. "I should probably go call my mother, I haven't had the heart to tell her what happened, she really liked Camille."

Jane nodded, "We all did, we'll make sure she gets justice and that her murderer never gets to hurt another living soul."

She sighed, nodded before walking away a bit to call her mother. Jane went to the swing where Maura was trying to comfort the twins, she sat down next to them. "I think the kids are still in shock," Maura looked at Jane with a frown, "We should probably get them back over to our place, they look exhausted," she ran her fingers through the kids hair.

"Yeah, Cailin and Hope should probably stay over at our place too. I wouldn't want any of them staying here while he's still out there," Jane suggested and Maura nodded. A second later Frankie rushes towards them.

"Hey Jane, Frost was checking out the premises and he found this," Frankie handed her the I.D. "He look familiar to you."

"The same guy who ended up putting Camille in the hospital," Jane stood up, "I thought he was in jail."

"Yeah, turns out that he has a brother, this is him Jason Calpine, apparently they are twins. Me and Frost are going to go check out the address and we'll tell you what we find."

"Frankie, I refuse to sit out on this case, I'm coming with you..."

"Jane... you can't..." he frowned, and looked at Maura. "Convince her it's a bad idea."

"We're wasting precious time Frankie, this is not up for debate," she turned to Maura. "I have to go with him, please don't argue."

"I just want you to be careful Jane, you already got hurt tonight."

"Maura... please, you get the twins Cailin and Hope to our house and I'll meet you there."

Maura got up and stepped with Jane away from the kids, "Go get that son of a bitch," she leaned up to give her a kiss on the cheek.

Jane nodded. "He'll get what he deserves, thanks for letting me go."

"I know it's a fight that I would lose, just please be careful, I can't lose you too. I love you."

"I love you too," she said before walking off with Frankie, to head to the man's address.

Maura went to go sit back down with the twins deciding she would wait here until Cailin was ready to go and they would go back to their house all together.

Frankie drove to Jason Calpine's apartment, with Jane and Frost sitting in the back.

"I'm sorry Jane, about all of this, we were not aware about any of this, she didn't come to us," Frost frowned and Jane sighed, feeling all her muscles in her body feel tense.

"Me and Maura should have cut our vacation short to help Camille out, she found trust in Gabriel Dean, I'm glad that bastard is dead, but I still feel guilty... we should have been here for her," Jane leaned her head back.

"Jane, you shouldn't let all this weight fall on you," Frost rested his hand on hers.

"Well it does fall on me, she was like a sister to me and I let her down, I let those kids down," she rubbed at her hands. "They are only four and they lost their mother, I can't even imagine what they are going through."

"I know it's going to be hard, but you and Maura and all of us will be there for the kids, they won't be going through this alone," Frost reassured her.

"We're at the apartment now," Frankie told them as they parked in front, Jane immediately got out and went inside the building and to the apartment number she had memorized, with Frost and Frankie trying to keep up. Jane knocked announcing herself but got no response, she tried turning the knob and the door opened. Jane forgetting that she left her own gun in the warehouse along with the one she gave to Maura for a last resort. Frost and Frankie had their guns at the ready just in case. They looked around the apartment for signs that anyone has been here recently.

Frost was in the kitchen with Jane, "You smell that?" he asked, lowering his gun slightly.

She nodded, "Smells like coffee, fresh coffee. Someone was just recently here."

"Jane! I found something I think you need to see," Frankie shouted down from the hallway. Jane followed where his voice has come from. Frankie shoved a picture in her hands the moment she entered.

"What the hell?" Jane looked at the picture the man Jason Calpine was standing next to Paddy Doyle. "Son of a bitch!" Jane slammed the picture frame onto the desk.

"There's no need to do all that now Jane," a voice spoke, startling both Frankie and Jane.

"Paddy, what the hell is this?" Jane shouted at the man and Frankie raised his gun.

"Hey, put the gun down Detective Rizzoli. I can explain."

"How do you know this bastard? I fuckin' trusted you," Jane stepped closer to him.

"Look Jane, it's not what it looks like, I have no involvement in your friend's death, I do not kill women, especially with kids, you know this. This Jason Calpine is my godson, he was in the mob business with me. I have been out of his life for years now."

"How do you know about my friend's death?"

"While Maura and I were in the car waiting at the warehouse I overheard her phone call saying that your friend was murdered. Plus after I ran off after I seen Agent Dean's dead body I broke into his car because I recall you saying someone else would be at the warehouse too to meet up with your friend, so was checking if he knew anything. When I seen Agent Dean's information about Jason on his computer I knew where he lived so I came here. Stupid bastard actually came back to his place of living, he must have forgotten what I told him back in the day. I confronted him, and knocked him unconscious before finishing him off and I put him in the trunk of Agent Dean's car. I planned to dump him in the lake but decided to freshen up and get some coffee made, figured you guys would show up eventually."

Frankie shared a look with Jane, he trusted her to decide the next move. "And just why should I believe you?" she asked.

"I would never do anything to upset you or Maura, I would never have let him harm your friend or the twins. I know how much they mean to you, how much Camille meant to you," Paddy looked down. "So am I in trouble here or not?"

Jane tensed up, everything was just too much but it had to be done, "I want to send you back to prison, that was the original plan, convince you to come back and drive you back to your cell. I don't like the idea of you roaming free. Maura thinks that it's for the best too," she turned to Frankie. "Cuff him."

"What are we going to do about the body?" the younger Rizzoli managed to get out as he hesitantly got close to Paddy to cuff him.

"I'll call the coroner to come pick up the body, after I make sure he's really in there dead."

"Dean's car is at the corner," Paddy told her, and she nodded.

"You and Frost can handle him, right?" Jane directed towards her brother. "Once the coroner comes then we'll go get Paddy back to prison, where he belongs." She walked out the door, and met up with Frost in the kitchen. "Help Frankie, alright? I have to go check something out," she told him before she went down to find Dean's car. She popped the trunk open and there was a dead body just like Paddy had said there was, she still didn't know if she believed his whole story, but he was very cooperative plus he killed the man who killed Camille. "You got what you deserved, you son of a bitch," she dialed the coroner's number and they were on their way.

Jane watched as Frost and Frankie put Paddy in the backseat of Frankie's car. After the coroner came to pick up Jason Calpine's body she went to the car, sitting in the backseat with Paddy. The car ride to the prison was spent in silence, there wasn't much to say at a time like this.

"I'm sorry again about your guys' friend."

Jane led Paddy into the prison to drop him off, "Thanks for killing that bastard, I think from now on we shouldn't be in contact anymore. Talk to Maura anytime you want but it's best that me and you separate from each other."

"I know it was hard to trust me I could tell you weren't ever going to let me just roam about. You're a good Detective Jane Rizzoli. Take care of my daughter alright?"

Jane just nodded before they entered and the security officer took Paddy away, "I knew you weren't dead, you son of a bitch," the man shook his head as he started the booking process. "Thanks Detective Rizzoli for finding this man."

"Not a problem, just doing my job. Have a good evening, and try to make sure he doesn't escape again."

"Yes ma'am," he nodded. "Come on Paddy, we kept your cell vacated," that was the last thing Jane heard before she went back to the car, Frankie drove them back to Jane and Maura's home.

"Did you guys want to come inside? Have a few beers to honor our lost friend? It's been one hell of a night," Jane asked as she got out of the car, the boys nodded and they all headed inside.

Jane was immediately greeted by Angela who pulled her into a hug, "Janie, I am so sorry about Camille, I know just how much she meant to you and Maura, how much she meant to all of us," she pulled away, taking in her daughter's appearance. "Did it get taken care of?"

Jane nodded, "Yeah Ma, it's all done and over, he's gone. He got what he deserved," she spoke.

"You should probably go change out of those clothes Jane."

"Yes Ma, I do want to go freshen up," Jane went upstairs to go change.

Angela turned to the boys, giving them hugs. "I heated up some leftovers from last night, I can't believe dinner was the last time we were going to see Camille," she frowned and led the boys to the dining room where Hope, Cailin and Korsak were eating.

Jane got cleaned up and changed into her pajamas, she came out of the bathroom just as Maura came out of the guest room. "Jane, you're back... did you get the guy?"

"Actually Paddy beat us to it, he didn't run away like we thought. He took care of it and sorry it took so long for us to get back we drove Paddy back to prison, told him I wouldn't keep in touch with him anymore but if you still want to talk to him that you would. He might not be getting letter privileges back for a while though. How are the twins?"

"Did he even protest getting sent back to prison. The kids finally managed to fall asleep, they tried to fight it at first," Maura sighed. "Angela heated up some food if you wanted to eat."

"He seemed to not care, didn't struggle or anything, he might actually be tired of killing people. I think I'm just going to have a few beers and get to bed, we have a long week ahead of us," Jane reached out to take Maura's hand as they went downstairs.

"Jane darling, thanks for letting me and my daughter stay here. I can't believe what happened," Hope greeted Jane and gave her a hug, Jane hissed at the pain she finally paid attention to in her shoulder. "Oh Jane, my apologies, I didn't know you were hurt."

"I kind of forgotten to be honest," Jane shrugged and went in the kitchen to grab a beer in the fridge, Korsak was cleaning the dishes. "Hey Korsak..." she greeted, leaning against the island.

Korsak stopped what he was doing and turned to Jane, "How are you holding up?"

"My mind is all over the place," she sighed, taking a sip of her beer. "I wish I was here to help out, maybe then this wouldn't have happened."

"Hey, you tried the best that you could Jane, don't blame yourself."

"Yeah that's easier said than done," she sat down on the stool. "I miss her so much already, she was like a sister to me and now she's gone. I'm a mess Korsak, how am I supposed to stay strong for those kids?"

"You are Jane Rizzoli, you're the strongest person I know. What happened is shit, but you are not alone in this, none of us are, times like this we come together, like a real family," he knew what he said wasn't helping but it's all he had.

"Yeah, I'm glad that we all have each other, I wish she felt like she could trust more of us though," she drank more of her beer. "I can't believe how things can change so fast, I was too involved in my happiness that when there was trouble happening here that I didn't deliver, I wasn't more involved and I hate it," she gripped the neck of the bottle in her hand. "Korsak, I'm so fuckin' mad at myself... I could have done more but I didn't, I should have came back on Sunday like we originally had planned. Why couldn't I see how much she needed me?" she felt tears falling down her cheeks. "Dammit."

"Jane, I know it's probably not what you want to hear but you can't help everyone, you can't save everyone, even if you put in all your efforts."

"But I should have been able to save her," Jane sighed in frustration. "She was like a sister to me and I let her down," she dropped her head into the palm of her hands.

"Is everything okay?" Maura asked as she entered the kitchen, she couldn't help but overhear Jane's conversation with Korsak.

Korsak frowned with a shake of his head, "I don't think it's going to be okay for a while. She's going through the stage of guilt."

Maura sat down next to Jane resting her hand on hers, "I wish I could have done more too, there is not one of us to blame though Jane. It's the obsession that man had, it's his fault that it happened, him and his brother. We tried to help her, we did the best that we could," she spoke, not really believing the words herself, Maura felt just as much guilt as Jane and even as much guilt as Cailin was feeling as well.

"I think I'm going to bed, maybe I'll wake up and all this will be one kind of hellish nightmare," she got up from the stool. "Will you be upstairs soon?" Jane looked at her wife.

"Yeah, I'll be up shortly," Maura stood up pressing her lips against her cheek. "You can fall asleep without me if you'd like."

Jane nodded, "Goodnight Korsak, thanks for the little chat. I'm glad to have you as my family," she gave his shoulder a squeeze before saying goodnight to the others and headed upstairs to lay down. Tomorrow was definitely going to be a challenge.

Jane woke up the next morning feeling absolutely exhausted, she felt more than one person in bed with her she turned and noticed Kate and Todd laying at her and Maura's feet sound asleep. Jane sighed getting out of bed, it wasn't a nightmare after all, just the reality of there being such evil in the world. She gently moved the kids so that they could lay on her pillow before heading downstairs.

There was already a pot of coffee made and her brother Tommy standing in the kitchen. "Mornin' Jane, I hope you don't mind me being here. Cailin told me what happened after I got off of work, I slept here on the couch just in case something was needed."

"Well you did make coffee," she managed to smile, pouring the coffee in a mug, before taking a sip.

"I'm really sorry about what happened," he sat down on the stool next to his sister. "That really sucks, you can't even enjoy coming back from a vacation. How are the kids doing?"

"At some point they crawled into me and Maura's bed, made me realize this wasn't a dream after all it's actually a real life nightmare. I don't even know where to begin to do today. Do I even dare go to Camille's apartment, I'm sure the kids need their things. Does she have arrangements made? I swear if those kids have to go into foster care they are going to be worse off than they already are without their mother."

Tommy listened to his sister rant off things she needed to do and he frowned, "Hey, you don't have to do everything yourself Jane. There's like a dozen people who are going to help out, we'll get everything done. The twins have a lot more family now than they did growing up, I don't think you have to worry about them going into foster care," he reassured her.

Jane sighed, "Yeah, I guess you're right? But this is not how I thought me and Maura would be spending our second week as wives. I don't even want to think about going back to work, maybe Crowe could take over for another week, he's seemed to be doing well when I was gone." She ran a hand through her hair and groaned. "Shit, I totally forgot about Crowe," Jane got up from the stool and retrieved her cellphone. "I'll be back," she went to stand on the front porch, dailing Crowe's number, wondering if there was any news. "Crowe, it's Jane."

"Hey Rizzoli, I was just getting ready to call you. I'm sorry about what happened last night, not about this dead dipshit Dean, but with Camille."

"I'm already tired of people telling me they are sorry about what happened, I guess I'm going to hear that a lot. Any updates?"

"Yeah, we got an update," he sounded tense. "You might want to sit down for this..."

Jane sighed, "What's the update?" she sat down on the porch steps, nerves setting in.

"Well, the gun that Maura used was the one that delivered the kill shot to Dean. I'm the only one who knows about it, I cleaned the guns off before the officers came last night so her prints aren't on the gun. They have no evidence that Maura was there last night, but since they were guns registered to you, well... the evidence points to you killing Agent Dean. The Lieutenant isn't happy, the Feds are here, apparently they knew Dean was playing dirty and that's why they gave him a leave of absence. They claimed he went rogue and off the deep end," Crowe explained. "I'm not sure how much trouble you're going to be in, but I did everything I possibly could to make sure that she didn't get blamed for this. I hope I made the right decision."

Jane rubbed at her sore shoulder and frowned at Crowe's news. "Yeah, you did the right thing. I don't think that I can thank you enough for taking care of things last night. I'm not even sure how she will take the news. Anything else that I should know about?"

"The lieutenant does want to talk to you, but I gave him a rundown of what is going on, he'll let you have the day today, but he wants you in early tomorrow to discuss some things."

"Yeah, I figured as much, thanks. I'll see you tomorrow."

"Of course, you just take the day Jane, you're the strongest person I know."

"That's what people keep telling me, it's odd hearing it from you though. Bye," she hung up the phone and went back inside. Tommy was now making pancakes when he heard Jane come back.

"Is everything alright at work?"

"Yeah, since when do you make breakfast?" she asked, looking over his shoulder. "I see you are trying your attempt at animals, you totally suck at it by the way. Why is this fat giraffe beheaded?"

"I flipped it over and then it just broke off."

"Maybe you should just stick to regular circle pancakes Tommy," she crossed her arms.

"The twins won't want to eat boring ol' circle pancakes."

"Well they don't want to eat fuckin' decapitated giraffes either, their mother just died," she hit him in the back of the head. She froze when she heard footsteps enter the kitchen. She turned to see the twins standing there, frowns on their faces. "Shit..." she muttered, and went to squat in front of the twins. "Hey, I'm sorry you had to hear that... Tommy, a little help here?" she looked up at her brother. He shut off the eye on the stove and walked over to the kids.

"Uncle Tommy is making pancakes, did you want to help? Maybe you guys could make better animals than me."

"Can we make tortoises?" Kate spoke softly and he nodded.

"Of course," he took them by the hands and got a step stool for them to stand on. "Just keep in mind that it's very hot."

"Thanks Tommy," Jane whispered, kissing his cheek before going upstairs. She went to sit on her bed next to Maura, "Hey sweetie, how did you sleep?" Jane asked quietly.

"Not that great," Maura sighed, sitting up.

"Yeah, me either, it's already been one hell of a morning. I do not know how my mother managed with three of us, Tommy is doing just fine, the twins are helping him make pancakes."

"You've handled kids losing parents before, you are very good with children despite what you may think. This time it's just a little tougher because we had a connection with their mother."

Jane leaned against Maura, "At least I don't have to do this alone, that's what people have been telling me, I guess I keep forgetting that little fact. My head has just been all over the place."

"Was there any update with Detective Crowe?"

"Um yeah... good news is he was able to make it look like you were never at the warehouse. The bad news is that... well..."

"I was the one who killed him," Maura nodded. "I know which shot was mine, I've dealt with thousands of gunshot victims I could tell mine was the kill shot."

Jane nodded, "And how are you doing with that?"

Maura shrugged, "As good as I could be, I didn't plan to kill him but you know I'm glad it was me. He doesn't have to bother us again, I feel relieved, but then I think of how Camille died and how much like shit it makes me feel. And well I never want to kill anybody ever again, sure I disliked the man but no one should have to die Jane, it's a miserable thing," she sighed.

"That it is," she rested her hand on her knee, giving it a squeeze.

"Are you going to get blamed for his death, since they were your guns?"

"We'll worry about that tomorrow, Crowe says we can take the day but Lieutenant Anthony wants to discuss stuff with me tomorrow. I don't want to think about that right now, we need to focus our attention on those twins and everything else. I think I'm going to join the kids and Tommy for breakfast, you can come down when you feel like you can, I just wanted to make sure that you were awake," Jane got up and kissed Maura and the top of her head. "Thanks for marrying me. I have no idea how I would be doing this without you," she offered Maura a soft smile before leaving the room and going back downstairs.

Cailin had joined the twins and Tommy for breakfast, Jane noticed how quiet everyone was and she hated silence in this moment in time. "Hey Jane, you look like we slept about the same," the younger girl looked up.

"Yeah, I'd say so," she went to go retrieve her cup of coffee from the kitchen before sitting down next to the twins. "Are you both enjoying Uncle Tommy's pancakes?" she asked and they nodded.

"Are you going to eat?" Todd asked, noticing she didn't bring a plate with pancakes.

"I'm actually not very hungry," Jane admitted. "Plus there will be more for you guys, if I was hungry I'd probably eat all the pancakes."

Todd just shrugged looking at Kate and continued eating, this was the first time Jane had seen him eat food at a regular pace. Another moment passed before Maura joined them for breakfast, deciding on coffee and some yogurt she wasn't sure of how much she would actually be able to hold down. She killed someone, albeit an asshole, but she felt sick to her stomach about it.

Jane looked at her and rested her hand on hers, "One day at a time Maura, that's what people say at a time like this, right?"

"Yeah that's what I heard," she sipped at her coffee before looking over at Cailin. "Is Hope going to join us for breakfast?"

"I no, actually she left earlier this morning, Frost and Frankie are going to help clean up our house. She does appreciate you both letting us stay here overnight," Cailin fiddled with her fork. "She said she wouldn't blame me if I didn't want to go back for a while, so I was um... sort of wondering if I could stay here for a while."

"We don't mind at all, you could actually be a huge help if you stayed here," Maura smiled at her half sister and glanced at Jane. "Will that be alright?"

"Yeah of course, take all the time you need before you go home Cailin. I can only imagine how hard it would be going back home," Jane finished her coffee.

"Thanks, it really means a lot to me, I'll do anything I can to help," Cailin slightly smiled, she was grateful for the two, she missed them so much when they were on their honeymoon. "I think I'm going to give Chad his breakfast," she got up from the chair. "Tommy, did you want to help?"

Tommy looked at Jane and then to Camille, "Um, yeah sure," he got up from the table and they went to the guest house.

Kate looked at Jane and Maura, "Can we go home today?"

"I um... I wish we could tell you that you could, but I think this is going to be home to you now," Maura spoke, and it broke her heart when Kate started to cry.

"Mama really isn't coming back, is she?"

"I'm sorry sweetie..." was all Maura could get out before Kate threw her arms around Maura's neck sobbing into her chest.

Todd pushed away his plate, glancing up at Jane. "The bad man who hurt Mama is not coming to take us away, is he?"

"No sweetie, nobody is going to be harming either of you," Jane sighed. "No one is going to come get you, I promise," she gave him a hug. "You have plenty of people who are going to keep you safe." She comforted him.

Outside in the guest house, Cailin fed Chad the tortoise some greens and Tommy just observed her. "You seem to be doing a pretty good job at feeding the tortoise. I'm sort of confused as to why you asked for my help," he spoke, sitting down on the couch.

Cailin continued looking down, she didn't even want to begin, but Tommy was so good to her he would understand what she wanted to happen, she hoped so anyways. "I um... I wanted to talk to you in private."

"Okay, what did you want to talk about?" he asked, as she got up from the ground and sat down next to him, rested her hand on his knee.

"Tommy, what happened last night made me feel the worst feeling I think I ever felt. I lost my best friend and I should have been able to do more, if I went downstairs with Camille after putting the kids to bed maybe, just maybe she would still be alive, or I could have made sure she didn't die, even if I was the one to do so."

Tommy didn't like the way she was talking, he rested his hand on her shoulder. "Hey, you did what you did to keep the kids safe. She always told me she loved her kids more than her own life. If she was here you know she'd thank you for keeping them safe, Camille was one of the most understanding people."

"Yeah, she was, when I admitted to what me and you did, well almost did the other night she seemed so calm about it and if it bothered her she wouldn't even let me know about it. I don't even know what she truly thought about it. And all I can do is think what if I caused some unknown pain and she never truly forgave me. She told me we were okay, but she could have just been saying that," she moved her hand away from Tommy's. "Tommy, I like you a lot and I have for a while, you know this, but Camille always was there for me and I just don't want to disappoint her. It's not like me and her were together anymore, but we had a love that isn't just going to go away. I don't want to forget about her, but I don't want to be alone. I'm conflicted of what's the right thing to do," she ran a hand through her hair.

"You never have to forget about her Cailin, you and I both know that you will always have a special place in your heart for her. And I don't want you to ever forget about her," Tommy took her hand in his. "You don't have to forget about how she made you feel. I will never expect that from you, but if you want us to just be friends the way we used to be then I will be alright with that."

Cailin shook her head, "I don't buy that Tommy, I know you, you are just saying what you think I want to hear."

He sighed, "That might be true, but I don't want to be selfish, what kind of guy would I be if I wasn't understanding of how much she meant to you? Whatever you want to do I will be there for you, alright? I promise."

"Even if it means wanting to let you go?" she asked, squeezing his hand and he nodded.

"Yes, even then, even though it would be pretty hard being away from you, I would understand what you needed to do," he gave her a reassuring, yet sad smile. "I like you Cailin and if you wanted me to stay I'll be your shoulder to cry on. I'm here if you want me to be, you will not have to be alone during any of this," he told her softly and Cailin nodded.

"That sounds very reassuring, I don't think I could do this alone. You've been such a great friend to me this past week and I'm glad you're here now," she leaned her head against his shoulder, squeezing his hand again.

"I'm glad that I'm here too, although I did wish it was under better circumstances," he admitted.

"Like Jane told Maura, one day at a time right?"

Cailin looked up at him and he kissed the top of her head. "Yeah, one day at a time."

So what are you thoughts on this chapter, emotions are definitely all over the place for our friends. I think in a few chapters or so I'm going to take a short hiatus of writing this story so I can binge watch the show... maybe it'll inspire me more for future chapters.
