Episode 32

"So this episode focuses on Louisa and Fitzgerald? Not us?" Dazai complains.

"Yep."

"Why?"

"Fitzgerald is one of the funders of this show." Mori admits.

"He bought you off, didn't he?" Atsushi deadpans.

The ex-doctor grins. "Totally."

"Damn, Fitzgerald is a really good actor. He plays down-on-his-luck quite well." Tachihara comments.

Fitzgerald takes off the fake stubble from his face. "I am a famous actor, unlike the rest of you. I have to be good at acting."

"I'm not sure whether to be offended by that or not." Kunikida remarks.

"That was the point." The rich man says slyly.

Fyodor laughs.

"There's a Guild headquarters that isn't the Moby Dick and it has analysts? And this never comes up again? Who wrote this crock?" Poe snaps. "I could write a better plot in my sleep!"

Mori edges away from the oddly angry man.

Ranpo smiles. "He gets worked up about writing. And the rest of the 'Writer's Club' isn't much better."

Mori looks at Gide and Odasaku, who are annotating the script furiously, then at Tachihara and Atsushi, who have set their copies of the script on fire.

"Eep." He squeaks.

The scriptwriters are hiding behind the couch in terror.

"Paltry?! I would never call money or status paltry!" Fitzgerald yells.

Mori gulps. Why are all his actors so angry today?

Elise nudges him. "You really need to stop writing scripts when you're half-asleep."

"I'll have you know I am excellent at making coffee." Lucy says to Mori. "I worked in a cafe before becoming an actor."

"Are you as good as Tenchou?" Mori points at the cafe owner.

"Nobody's as good as Tenchou."

"That's a fair point."

"What does shy as a clam even mean?" Lucy questions.

Kyouka shrugs. "Hell if I know. Ask Mori."

Mori shakes his head. "I didn't write that part."

"What idiot spends five hundred thousand dollars on a wedding ring?" Naomi asks.

Fitzgerald looks over. "I would." He says icily.

Naomi swallows hard. "And that's just fine!" She forces out.

The thugs surround Louisa.

Fyodor giggles. "Nothing like watching someone get the shit kicked out of them!" He says cheerily, bucket of popcorn in hand.

"Uh, Fyodor, Louisa's going to be fine. Fitzgerald saves her."

"I never said she would be the one getting beaten up." The Russian points out. He eats some popcorn as Mori begins directing the scene, laughing as the thugs go flying.

"Shooting her in the head at that range means the guy behind her might get shot as well, you know that, right?" Higuchi asks Mori.

The director waves a hand. "Don't think too much, he doesn't shoot."

"It's the principle of the thing, though." She insists.

"I get enough flak from the writer's club, Higuchi. I don't need any more critiques."

"Maybe if you wrote a good script…" Gide mutters from the sidelines.

"If Fitzgerald's broke, how does he buy a suit?" Atsushi asks.

Mori groans. More writer's critique. "Let's say Louisa had some money stored away or something."

"Louisa and Fitzgerald get along pretty well, huh?" Akutagawa looks at the pair, who are talking about something. "Even out of the show."

His sister nods. "It's nice to see that someone cares about the man. Somehow."

"True." He smirks.

"Why do we use the Deadmau5 logo as the logo for the Rats?" Lucy asks.

"It's not the Deadmau5 logo."

"It totally is." Elise says.

Mori sighs. "Because shut up, that's why."

"Real convincing." Ranpo snorts, then takes a bite of his churro.

"Louisa's Ability is awesome!" Ranpo exclaims. "If we worked together on a case, we'd be unstoppable!"

The woman blushes. "I think my Ability is too r-restricted in its use for that."

"Still, really cool!" He insists.

Poe nods. "It is a very useful Ability, and you're very smart."

The shy woman's face is cherry-red at that point.

"Fitzgerald is really bad with money, huh?" Atsushi says, awed. "That's amazing. Someone so rich has no money sense!"

"I know." Tachihara agreed. "It's hysterical, honestly."

Mori snickers. "He's like that in real life, too."
