Standing outside of the quant shop Sam was aware that he could not feel the breeze that was surely blowing. He could see the leaves on the trees moving but had no sensation on his body. 'What is happening to me?' he thought. He could see that it was very windy out as he watched a woman chase her hat that had flown off her head. And yet he could not feel any breeze and when he felt his hair it was as if it hadn't moved in the wind either . He had always been proud of his hair and was shocked that it was as though it had not been touched.

But he needed to know what was going on and once more he was in for a shock. As Sam reached for the door handle it was if he was going through the glass in the door. As he tried to open the door he almost fell through it. b himself he now found himself in a room that was filled with so many things to look at. His wife would love to go there sometime. At the counter stood a lady who seemed to be busy fixing something.

"Excuse me, I am having a problem. Somehow, I thought that someone here could possibly help me" He said to the woman.

But for some reason the woman made no moves and showed no reaction to his speaking to her at all. It was as though she could neither see or hear him. So he spoke up again "Excuse me."

Delia had been at the counter going through some items that she and Melinda had just purchased. One of the items was a little music box. It was very old and had been wound that too tight. She was trying to unwind it some when she felt a change in the atmosphere. It was subtle and for years she had not been able to feel anything when a spirit entered, She looked up and with her nicest smile she said "I' will have someone come and help you in a moment. With that she headed to the back office where Melinda was working.

Sam was taken aback by the almost rude way the lady at the desk had acted. He was standing right in front of her and she seemed to be looking to his side. She also seemed to be talking to him while looking to the side. It was as though she could neither see or hear her either. He watched in amazement as the lady walked behind the curtain and was standing there waiting when he saw a very nice looking woman come in and smile at him.

Melinda had been at her desk when Delia had come in. By the look on her friend and partner's face she knew that there was a spirit someplace in the building. "It's ok Delia I will go out to the front and see who we have over for company." She smiled and patted her friend on the back as she walked to the front of the store.

It had been years since Melinda's husband Jim had taken over the body of Sam Lucas and she had rightfully adjusted to the new look, but now she found herself looking into the face of the man her husband now was. Was this the spirit of Sam coming back to ask why Jim had taken over his body? She was so confused.

Sam walked over to the lady and smiled "My name is Sam Lucas. I seem to be having some strange problems this morning and I was hoping that I could get some help here. It is strange but I just knew that I needed to come here."

Melinda smiled warmly at the young man. She had helped many spirits cross over and was used to their initial confusion. "My name is Melinda Gordon and I can help you."

Melinda looked over at her friend Delia. Delia was just listening to what she was saying while trying o act as though she was working on the music box. She giggled to herself and turned back to the man standing in front of her.

"I don't understand what is going on. I left for work this morning and now everything has changed. It is as if I have ceased to exist." Sam told Melinda.

Melinda looked into this young man's eyes, and as gently as she could she said "I am sorry, but you have passed on. Do you remember anything about what might have happened?"

The thoughts and emotions that were going through his mind as Sam tried to process the concept of no longer being alive were overwhelming. He couldn't be dead he had a wife and a child due to be born in few weeks. What was going to happen to them?' he thought. The last clear memory he had was driving on the freeway. He had gone around a car that was going too slow. "I don't know actually. The last thing i remember doing is going around a car that was going too slow on the freeway." With those words he stopped he didn't want to know.

Melinda gave him the biggest smile she could and said "I am here to help you."
