After all those months Caitlin was still nothing but fascinated by the elements, chemicals and materials on earth 2. True, a lot of them was very similar or just like on her origin planet, but the sometimes subtle and sometimes bigger differences was what captivated her the most. It was like taking another approach to science, finding yet so many ways to achieve her career dreams. Now she understood completely why Harry was always so eager to use his own earth resources as they seemed to be superior to earth 1 in many ways. She was even surprised that life originated from the latter to be honest.

She heard the door opening but she didn't react, knowing well who that was by the familiar way he walked.

"Don't you think you maybe should rest a bit?" he asked in a husky voice right next to her ear while his arms immediately enveloped her from behind. "I missed you," he then admitted.

She relaxed into his touch quickly, instantly forgetting about the fascinating rules of science on his earth. That sneaky bastard, she thought, nearly chuckling. He knew well what to do in order to distract her completely.

"Snow, you're very pregnant. I love how you're taken with the Labs, but you cannot stand on your feet for so long," he continued stubbornly.

The worst thing was that he was right. Damn him!

"Nice of you to point out I'm looking like a freaking elephant," she complained, nearly pouting as she turned around, shooting him a cute yet angry expression.

He smiled instantly, not able to help it.

Caitlin was actually glad that it was now easier for him to relax and show emotions after what happened to his brain. She was also happy for him that he managed to get his intelligence back. She knew him all too well. He might've claimed to be ok, but in the long haul she knew it was what made him Harry.

"I wasn't implying such a thing!" He defended himself. "I was merely pointing out a fact. And your cute expression won't get you anywhere," he added after a moment of thought.

"You sure?" She teased him, but then she got serious again when she confessed, "I just really don't understand why you wanted to stay on earth 1. Science here is so much more fun! You must've felt like a few levels lower there."

"And that made me the smartest man on earth," he joked, causing her to laugh.

"Seriously, Harry."

"Well, isn't it obvious? This earth didn't have you in it."

Of course he would tell her something like this. And of course this would completely disarm her and added to that, her hormones...

Before she knew it, she was kissing him, savoring the feeling and the love that was so steady and so satisfying between them.

She knew he was right, that bastard. He was always right when warning her about this and she also always dismissed said worries, assuring him she could handle it. She was a doctor, after all, so she knew what to expect and who knew her body better than her alone?

Well, maybe she had to rethink that, but she would be damned if she ever admitted that to him.

Caitlin Snow was enjoying her visit to the part of the Labs where Jesse had her Flash secret quarters with a few of her team members. She was just catching up with her step daughter and giving some pointers in her field of expertise when she was surprised by a sudden cramp.

At first she ignored it, too focused on what she was talking about, the subject very fascinating, somehow combining both knowledges she had from her earth and this one...

Next time, she actually yelped, grabbing her protruding belly.

Jesse paled immediately, asking if it was time and whether the baby was coming or simply if something was wrong.

Next thing they knew, she was speeding Caitlin to a hospital, already fearing her dad's rage once he found out where it happened...

Yes, he was angry. She was an infuriating wife, working when being pregnant and then refusing to stop. The only compromise they reached - if it even were one since she seemed to agree with him pretty easily – was to considerably shorter her working hours. It did not always look like it in practice, but was somehow going.

Until she wandered to Jesse's HQ and the birth started there, that was.

Yet, the moment Harry got to meet his new born son, his insides melted completely and he didn't even remember his anger. All that mattered was holding his baby in his arms and feeling the love for the little human he and Caitlin brought to this world.

When Cait opened her eyes and her vision cleared out, she still needed to blink a few times before her brain fully registered the beautiful picture in front of her - Harry waiting for her to wake up with their child in his arms. This, she thought. This was happiness. And it was still going on and sometimes she held her breath, expecting something bad to happen that would take it all away. Yet, nothing ever did.

They managed to move and get married. They managed to make a wonderful life for themselves on earth 2. Now they had a beautiful child. And Caitlin really appreciated the benefits of this earth's medicine as well.

She could only hope it lasted forever.

It didn't.

Of course, it didn't.

It was Cisco who visited shortly after the birth of her son that told them the sad news.

At first he was just catching up with them, appreciating his best friend's happiness as much as he could and for a moment even considering not telling her. In the end, he knew he couldn't possibly protect her from everything and that Barry was her friend as well. She needed to know in order to have a chance to say goodbye.

In those moments, during what they had to deal with on earth 1, he was really happy to be away, to see and feel the bliss both Caitlin and Harry shared. At the beginning a match he couldn't really understand that turned into something so amazing that now he couldn't imagine them not being together. They simply fitted, belonged. Everything seemed to be all right in the world when they were ok. At least on this earth.

"Cisco, what's wrong? I can tell something troubles you," he heard from her that very moment. She knew him all too well and he couldn't hide his despair even now when he was actually enjoying himself.

"What news are you bringing with you?" Harry just sighed, noticing that too.

"Well... ever since Nora was there and altered the timeline..." Cisco started.

"I told you, guys, that keeping her for long would have consequences and what did you really expect in the end when she turned out to be manipulated by the Reverse Flash? I'm just really glad I wasn't there, that we were all safe on this earth."

Nora did warn them to stay away because otherwise Harry might die or - when considering the significant chances in the timeline she'd already caused - anything could really happen. The safest place for both him and Caitlin was on earth 2, away from the impact.

"Well, I am glad, too. The crisis... the one in which Barry was about to disappear in a few years... it's actually happening now."

There was silence which was eventually broken by both Caitlin and Harry nearly at the same time.

"The one in which he... dies?" Cait paled.

"But that was years away!" Harry raised his voice in anger. "Wasn't the whole point of West-Allen travelling back to actually prevent that from happening, then?!"

"Well... it's here and we can't seem to do anything to stop it and Barry kinda gave up. He's ready to die for us all." Cisco's body shook a little and Caitlin reached out a hand to him, giving him comfort. She knew how difficult it must've been for him.

Just as much as it was for her.

"Giving up so easily?"

Barry almost jumped when hearing her voice, at first thinking he imagined it. There were times when she was always here, always helping the team, always patching him up. She actually saved him more times than he could count and he felt so, so guilty that because of her staying with the team she had basically lost everything. When she fell for Harry Wells he was shocked by that turn of events but soon realized they were perfect for each other when both being what the other needed in life.

Caitlin Snow - now Snow-Wells - deserved her happy ending more than anyone he knew.

"Cait," he gasped, turning around and smiling on seeing her despite the gruesome circumstances. He knew exactly why she was there.

She walked straight to him and put her arms around his neck, hugging him tight like she knew she would soon not get the chance. And she actually did.

"I came nearly as soon as Cisco told me," she explained when letting him go. "Harry wishes he could visit as well, but..."

"I know. It's ok. Better to be safe than sorry. After all, Nora did warn you, guys."

Caitlin nodded, feeling even more sorry for Barry since she was a mother now herself, so she couldn't even imagine the pain of losing a child like that.

"Is there really nothing that can be done?" she asked with the usual care in her voice. "There has to be a way... Barry, you can't just..."

He only sighed in response and shook his head, avoiding her eyes.

"I'm sorry. I saw thousands of possible futures. There's just one way for us all to survive and that's only when I die."

"I don't accept that. This cannot be true. I will try and help."

"Cait, the only way you can help is by coming back home to your husband and son and never taking them for granted."

"Of course, but... Barry... I can't imagine a multiverse without you as the Flash." Her eyes shone with fresh tears. She was really trying hard not to cry.

Eventually, Barry pulled her close, hugging her one more time, knowing full well it was going to be the last. The only comfort he had was in knowing his friends and family would go on living, that they would actually get a chance.

"I'm not ready to let go," Caitlin whispered when he did just that.

"None of us ever is," he simply answered.

"I hope you know you saved my life, Barry. Back before I met you, I was dead inside. You gave me a reason to go on. You made me feel needed."

He could only nod, overcome with emotions too powerful.

"Now I want you to make some use of the life you have and love your family with everything you got," he asked her, trying not to think of his own. Trying not to think of Iris and the baby they were never going to have now.

He grabbed the device Cisco had built for multidimensional travel and pushed the right button.

Nothing happened.

He pushed it again.

Nothing.

"Is this thing broken or what...?"

Only then Cisco came running, his face pale.

Earth 2 was gone.

Earth 2 was just gone.

There was no more.

A wave of antimatter swept it clean when Caitlin was on earth 1, Oliver Queen only confirming what happened since he was there at the time, barely escaping with his own life.

Earth 2 was gone.

Harry. Jesse... Her son...

Gone.

Gone. Gone. Gone.

Caitlin was nearly catatonic, dropping to the ground the moment she heard the dreadful news, her legs simply bending under her, her footing completely lost. Her world lost.

She was, yet, still in denial, believing they must've escaped, believing Jesse somehow sensed what was happening and took them all out of there.

Only they had no news. And Jesse wasn't arriving.

And more earths started to be swept off as well.

Caitlin wished she was dead too. She wished she'd stayed on earth 2 a little bit longer. Long enough to be obliterated into nothing just like her family. Just like the three people she held most dear.

There was no hope. There was nothing. There was just impossible pain and crying. Cisco, Barry, they were all shocked, not knowing what to do or say. So she went catatonic and when her time came, when a final wave of antimatter swept over earth 1, she welcomed it with a smile on her face.

She didn't want to exist at all.
