Hello, the author here just wanted to say thank you for reading the 1st chapter and i'm glad you are enjoying so far. I just want to let you all know that in the synopsis i stated there would be a conversation taken from Chapter 70 of The Camping Trip well that will feature in this chapter. However, this story is in no way related to The Camping Trip just in case people did think that, it was just the conversation I thought would be perfect for this chapter as well.

Thank you to both Braxton54 and Cass285 for your reviews on the first chapter.

Summer Bay – The Beach beside the Diner

After he had got ready, Kyle had gone on a walk in the direction Brax had pointed that took him towards the beach and the Diner.

He was now sat on the sand watching the waves crawling up the sand and back into the water.

Eventually I'm alone. It's not like I'm not happy being around my new long-lost brothers but we are so different. I thought that maybe I would have something in common with at least one of them but nope. They all like surfing and none of them seem to enjoy learning. Casey who is the same age as me, give or take a few months seems to do everything in his power to avoid doing schoolwork.

Maybe I should ring the social worker and tell her this isn't going to work out and I should go back into care because even though I hated that at least the school I went to I had a friend there. I think Brax thinks that I will become friends with Casey's friends but that probably won't happen, I'm weird as Casey said yesterday.

Kyle stops thinking and looks at the time on his phone. Placing it back up he puts it back in his pocket then decides to grab an early lunch so he can check out the point before he has to meet Brax.

(11:22am) 17 minutes later…

Summer Bay – Pier side Diner – Inside

The Diner was quiet which it usually was at this time of day which to the staff was peaceful between the hustle and bustle of the breakfast and lunch time rush.

The workers were sat at a table having a cup of coffee or tea in Marilyn's case while talking about what was going on in the Bay when a stranger that none of them recognised walked in.

Roo got up from where she was sat and headed towards the till: "What can I get you love?"

"Hmmm, please may I have a chocolate milkshake while I decide on what I would like to eat?" Kyle asked.

"Of course, you can if you just want to take a table, I'll bring it over and then you can pay when you order your food." Roo replied.

"Thank you." Kyle said as he moved away from the counter.

The stranger who Roo had noticed sat on the beach when she walked into work an hour ago, moved away from the counter and over to a table not far from where the Diner ladies were sat.

Roo made the milkshake and took it over to the teen and asked: "There you go. Have you decided what you would like to eat yet?"

Putting the menu down, Kyle answered: "Yes, please may I have a ham and cheese toastie on white with a bowl of chips and plenty of gravy?"

"Of course." Roo turned and looked at Irene who moved from the table and headed to the kitchen to make the order. "That will be $9.75 please."

The teen handed Roo the money and she went back to the till, then returned back to the table to finish her drink. Kyle also started scrolling on his phone while he waited for his order.

(11:31am) 9 minutes later…

"I wonder who he is?" Marilyn said to the ladies once Irene had returned from making the order and serving it to the customer.

"He's probably just here on holiday with his family." Irene said to her.

"Yes, but he should be in school Irene not on holiday." Leah said to her friend.

"Leah is right maybe we should ask him what he is doing here instead of being at school like every other kid his age." Marilyn agreed "What is he doing with that toastie?"

Kyle was in the middle of dunking his toastie in the gravy, when out of the corner of his eye he noticed the women staring at him: "It's nice you know, you should try it sometime."

All three of them just smiled at him and continued to stare.

"I'm sorry but can I help you?" Kyle asked them not understanding why they were watching him.

The four women looked at each other surprised, when Roo spoke up and said: "Yes we were just wondering what you were doing here in the Bay when everyone else your age went back to school today."

"Oh, I've actually just moved to the Bay and I don't start school till tomorrow so I thought I would look around and get used to the area so I wouldn't get completely lost."

"Oh well then I guess we should introduce ourselves. My name is Roo and this Marilyn, Irene and Leah." Roo said as she pointed around the table.

"My name is Kyle."

"Well hello Kyle, where are you from and when will we get to meet the rest of your family." Marilyn asked in her normal nosey way.

"Marilyn!" The three other ladies shouted.

Laughing Kyle said: "That's alright, I'm from Melbourne and I think you might actually already know my family."

"Oh, I've always wanted to visit Melbourne but never had a reason to and really how can we already know them if you just moved here?" Leah asked Kyle.

"My half-brothers live here."

Irene looked at the young boy then remembered what Bianca had told her: "You aren't related to Heath Braxton by any chance?"

"Yeah, I am actually, how did you guess?"

"Well, his girlfriend is like a daughter to me, so they mentioned you a couple of times. Also, you just look at lot like him that's all."

"Oh, I haven't met her yet and thanks I think." Kyle looked at her curiously.

"Don't worry if you don't meet her today, you'll certainly meet her at school tomorrow as she's the Head Teacher." Irene informed Kyle which she received a smile in reply.

"Does this mean we need to worry about more trouble in the Bay?" Roo suddenly asked him.

"Trouble?" asked Kyle as he didn't understand what she meant by that.

"Your brothers weren't the nicest of people when they first moved to the Bay." Leah replied.

"Oh, then you don't have to worry about any more trouble as you can rest assure that even though we are related I am definitely nothing like them."

"Good and does that have anything to do with you just sat on the sand instead of going for a surf." Roo mentioned.

"Sorry?"

"I saw you on my way into work earlier just sat staring into space."

"I'm not a fan of the water." Kyle told them which shocked the women.

"Wow never thought we would ever meet a Braxton who didn't surf." Roo said surprisingly.

"Well, I guess you have now." Kyle laughed as he got up "Anyway thanks for the lovely food and milkshake but I better go as I want to go check out the point before, I have to meet Brax. It was lovely meeting you all."

With that Kyle got up and exited the Diner, leaving the women shocked to find out there was actually an all-around nice Braxton out there in the world.

(12:59pm) 1 hour and 28 minutes later…

Summer Bay – Outside the Surf Club

Walking out of the Surf Club after receiving a text from Kyle to say he was outside, Brax was stopped by John: "What is wrong with parents these days?"

"Eh?" Brax asked John.

"He should be in school not stood out here." John replied pointing at Kyle.

"John, that's my little brother Kyle. You know the one who just arrived yesterday who won't be starting school till tomorrow." Brax said with a hint of annoyance in his voice.

John didn't say anything instead he just nodded and quickly walked away.

Approaching Kyle, Brax said: "You ready?"

Turning around: "Yeah I've had a look around been having a talk with ladies in the Diner, one of them mentioned that Heath's fiancé was the head teacher at the school."

"You know if you were hungry you could have come here, and I would've given you something to eat on the house." Brax told him "Also, yes Bianca will be at dinner tonight so any pressing questions about Summer Bay High that you have she can answer then."

"Yeah, but I had money and I didn't want to take any money away from the restaurant. Ok cool as I have a few." Kyle replied.

"It would have been no bother but oh well shall we get going then?" Brax asked.

Kyle nodded his head and with that both brothers headed to the Ute so they could drive to Yabbie Creek to get Kyle's school uniform and supplies.

(7:11pm) 6 hours and 12 minutes later…

Summer Bay – Braxton House – Garden

"So, what do you think of the Bay now that you've had a look around Kyle?" Ricky asked.

Putting his burger down, Kyle replied: "It's alright, I managed to go up to the point before I met Brax which was cool. I also had lunch at the Diner."

"So, you met Irene and the others?" Bianca asked at the mention of the Diner.

"Yes, they were watching me eat which was odd."

"Why?" Brax asked curiously.

"No idea, all I was doing was dunking my ham and cheese toastie in my gravy."

Everyone stopped eating and looked at him: "What?"

"You were dunking a ham and cheese toastie in gravy and you don't understand why they were staring at you?" Casey said to him.

"It's really good honestly." Kyle tried to defend his eating habits.

"No one is saying that it isn't Kyle, but it is a little odd." Bianca told him.

"Mate, your plain weird." Heath laughed.

Kyle doesn't say anything, instead he just pushes his chair back and stands up. Then he walks back in the house as everyone watches him leave.

"Really Heath?" Ricky said.

"Well, he kind of is. Firstly, he likes school, secondly his eating habits are odd and then thirdly, the guy doesn't surf or like the water." Heath informed them all.

"What does it matter Heath? There's stuff that we all do he might find weird but he's polite enough not to say it" Brax suggested "Look, I'm going to go and check on him."

Standing up Brax went to check on Kyle.

(7:34pm) 23 minutes later…

Summer Bay - Braxton House – Kyle's Bedroom

Kyle was sat on floor with his back leaning up against the bed, when there was a knock at the door and Brax entered the room.

"Are you alright?" Brax asked as he sat on the bed.

Not looking at Brax, Kyle replied: "Yeah, I'm used to it."

"You shouldn't be though."

"It just comes with the territory of being both a foster kid and good at school. Plus, my odd eating habits."

"One, you are no longer a foster kid. Two, there's nothing wrong with being good at school as it means you have more career options in the future. Finally, in terms of the eating habits, Heath used to eat chocolate ice cream and quavers together by putting the ice cream in the gaps in the crisps."

"Wait, really?"

"Yes really. So, he is in no position to say what you're eating was weird when that actually seems more normal."

"Even I think that is gross." Kyle laughs.

"So did the rest of us at the time which is why he does it when no one is around."

"Does he know that you know he still does it?"

"Nope, you're now only the second person who does. Not even Casey or Bianca know."

"Woah, I feel privileged."

Brax laughed when Kyle said that before saying: "Look Kyle, I don't want you to ever think that your weird or anything else because your not."

"Okay." Kyle sighed "If you don't mind, I might just go grab a shower then have an early night before my first day of school tomorrow."

"Go for it, I'll let the others know." Brax replied standing up "Night."

"Night." Kyle replied watching Brax leave the room.

Once he had gone, Kyle gathered his stuff and headed for the shower before grabbing an early night's sleep.
