Sorry for the late update, going through midterms... ugh.

Entry 32

After a couple days, the snowstorm has finally lifted, and the weather has warmed back to its normal temperature. And now, we can see just how screwed we really are.

Every plant is dead.

Dad held a meeting with the town, saying we can replant them, but we're not going to get as much as usual, and the provisions we normally keep to tide us over from one harvest to the next will need to be stretched. Because of this news, it seems like a dark cloud has settled over Berk; everyone is in even worse moods than usual.

When we got home from the meeting, Dad pulled me aside to talk. He said it's going to be a rough year, and he wants me to do my absolute best to set a good example. Work hard at the forge, train hard with him, and above all, be a Viking. Basically, I have to try and be a model citizen, to show everybody else we can get through this year. And now, I'm even more stressed than before.

Now, I literally have people counting on me to be a perfect Viking. I guess one of those "chief situations" I was talking about last time came a whole lot sooner than I thought.

I really am going to try, though. I can't let myself be the reason Berk goes under… From now on, I'm going to be Hiccup the UseFUL. And I am going to make my dad, and all of Berk, proud.

Until next time…

Don't make such hefty promises, Hiccup! That leads to disappointment...
