Highway To Healing

Chapter 2:

A Saturday afternoon for lunch Mark and Jonathan order a pizza at the Hotel and Bobby is the delivery boy. Bobby comes to the door and says, "Large pizza $8.39 tax please."

Mark hands him $15 and says, "Keep the change, Bobby Roberts."

Bobby responds, "Wait a minute, wait a minute I know you guys from... from... from... (he snaps his fingers each time)... about four years ago now... it's the Angel and the fat man."

Mark responds, "Cute Bobby... that's cute."

Jonathan speaks and says, "Bobby, how are you and your mom and dad doing?"

Bobby starts to cry a little and says, "I can't talk now," while he writes his phone number on the pizza box and continues saying, "Call me tonight about 7:30 pm. maybe you can come over. I don't know I have to see."

Mark and Jonathan both answers, "We will."

Bobby raises his hands across in front of his mouth and says, "Enjoy your pizza. I have to go now."

Bobby leaves and Jonathan and Mark both sigh and than Jonathan asks, "Why Mark, why does the world add hurt to its wounded. People need love and not judgment love is available for every single person some people just refuse it."

Mark replies I know kemosabe. I guess even Angels cry out at what man does to man."

Later that evening Mark calls the number Bobby left and Susan answers the phone and says, "This is Susan Roberts, how can I help you?"

Mark replies, "This is Mark Gordon me and Jonathan are back in Town, Could we see you all again?"

Susan takes the phone off her ear and puts her hand over the receiver and speaks to her husband, "Richard, Jonathan and Mark they returned to Kentucky they want to see us."

Richard replies, "Sure it's all right with me if it's all right with you."

Susan puts the phone back to her ear and says, "Sure come on over," and than she gives them their address.

Mark says, "We'll be there at 8pm."

Jonathan and Mark go over to the Roberts home. Susan has prepared some hot tea while everyone sips on the hot tea Mark starts the conversation and says, "It sure is good to see you all again. Bobby delivers some good pizza."

Richard speaks and says, "With my blindness and with the State declaring Susan with mental disabilities Bobby has had to be the 'man of the house.' In fact we couldn't eat if it wasn't for Bobby."

Susan sitting next to Richard nudged him and grunts a little as if to say, 'You don't need to tell them all that' Susan was getting embarrassed by Richards frankness.

Jonathan says, "That's alright Mrs. Richard. As an Angel I already knew but you are loved and God sent us here to help."

Richard Interrupts and says, "We need another Hope from Heaven. I hate my blindness! Jonathan I hate that my wife can't work. It's my fault, Jonathan. I made my wife get unstable, I put the pressure on Bobby to provide for his 'old man'"

Bobby interrupts and says, "Dad you're not my 'old man' I love you Dad! Work has strengthened me it gave me character and responsibility. Please Dad don't refer to yourself as 'old man' again."

Susan says, "I feel stable enough myself my family is back together!" She rubs Richard shoulder and continues, "My 'Teddy Bear' as I referred to it when I was mentally strained. We are happy in most things. Richard I love you, what happened 14 years ago in '77' is past."

Richard reaches for Susan's hand holds it to his lips and kisses it.

Jonathan says, "Another Hope from Heaven is our assignment. God bless you Robert family, you are loved by God."
