It was a bad idea, bad idea, such a bad idea. But Mr. Stark could help Peter, couldn't he?

Those were Peter's thoughts as he stood on the roof of the Avengers Tower.

The Avengers would know Peter was there, they weren't so stupid as to not put up such security systems.

As if on cue, Bruce Banner appeared. At one point, Peter might've freaked out at seeing him, but May's death still stung him. He didn't exactly feel like fanboying at the moment, even if Bruce Banner was one of the world's most renowned scientists.

"Oh, you're that Spider-guy," Bruce realized.

"Yeah, that's me," Peter answered absentmindedly. "And you're the green guy.

"Well, you're not supposed to be here right now."

"Oh, I know," Peter said, turning away from Bruce and looking at the skyline. "Nice view from up here."

"Spider-guy, if you don't leave, then I'll have to-"

"No, there's no need. I just need to speak to Tony Stark," Peter said carelessly. "I need a favor."

"Listen, man, this isn't-"

"I'll take you down right here and throw you off this motherfucking tower," Spider-Man said coldly.

"Aren't you supposed to be all friendly and helping old ladies cross the street?" Bruce asked, surprised.

"I'm really not in the mood, Mr. Banner. I need to talk to Tony Stark now."

Police sirens flashed and rang out below them. Peter watched them numbly.

He was alone now. Aunt May was all he had left, he was the last Parker.

He was alone.

"Sorry, Spidey, no can do. I'm just going to summon the green guy and we'll see how you throw me off then."

As the green was starting to appear and Bruce's shirt was beginning to rip, Peter shot out a web and swung the still-transforming Banner-Hulk off the side of the building.

"See that, Mr. Stark?" Spider-Man called. "I know you're watching. And even as the Hulk, I doubt Mr. Banner will survive a fall from this height."

As expected, there was a flash of red and gold as Iron-Man sped to catch Banner.

Peter let himself into the tower, greeted by the rest of the Avengers. He sighed.

"Listen, I'm not really in the mood to do this, so how about you just let me get what I want?"

"You just threw the Hulk off the roof," the Black Widow pointed out.

God, could they not just let Peter get in and out peacefully? He didn't particularly want to fight the Avengers. He could swing past them if he just...

Peter shot a web and swung past them, landing safely a good distance in front, and started running for the lab.

If he could override FRIDAY, the AI, then he could buy himself enough time to construct a new suit. One that he wouldn't be recognized in and could still go on patrolling, protecting the city without the police all over his back about the murder of-

Of May Parker.

His aunt.

He pushed the thought out of his mind, locking the door to the lab he had just reached, and started typing on the computer furiously. FRIDAY started setting off all kinds of alarms. It was all Peter could do to keep the door locked.

"Come on, you stupid AI!" Peter yelled in frustration, slamming his fists down on the keyboard. The alarms stopped. FRIDAY was overridden. "Okay, good. Um, FRIDAY?"

"Yes?" FRIDAY answered in a monotonous voice.

"Lock down the tower. Don't let any of the Avengers in. But also," Peter added, "don't kill them."

"The tower is on lockdown."

"Good. Now, um, can you help me build a suit?"
