Chapter. 2: Night Terrors
Rocky woke up at 2:30 feeling absolutely awful. His stomach growled ferociously, his head hurt, and his legs were extremely sore. He yawned and stretched, painfully mind you, and looked himself over, clutching his aggravated stomach as he tried to figure out was was wrong. At first, he didn't notice anything wrong at all, physically. But then he did notice one thing though that was strange about him; he felt like he needed to howl. Like, reeeaally badly. He didn't know what was wrong with him or what was going on, but then, it started. He saw it begin. His paws started to hurt a lot, and actually started to swell bigger and bigger, getting larger by the second, till they were twice the regular size. His fur grew next, almost instantaneously growing twice as long. His overall size of every appendage and part of his body grew in size too, which obviously included his neck. He struggled with his collar, the orange band stretching but not far enough, as his neck's diameter increased. He even started to begin to choke, as the strong fibres of the collar continued to hold on, acting as a noose, until it finally ripped off, like the sound of velcro. He heaved huge gulps of air, gasping as he tried to figure out what the hell was going on. His howling fettish grew as well in the process, pestering him so much that he eventually caved in, howling at the large round moon in the sky. He was also very thirsty again, which surprised him as he had drank quite a bit of water the previous evening. "Aw, what does it matter? I'm thirsty, so I'll go get a drink. No big deal. I'll just make sure not to step into the water this time." he thought as he again trotted off to the river.
But when he got to the edge of the river, and knelt down to take a drink, he saw his reflection.
"Holy crap!" He cried as he jumped backwards, landing on his back. He sat back up, and quickly crawled back over to the water's edge, trying to convince himself that it was just a dream, and that he would wake up. But when he got to the water, he was met with the same huge, hairy pup that resembled his own self. He stared at himself, wondering why on earth he looked like this.
And then, it hit him.
"I'm a werepup?!" He yelled, probably too loudly. "B-b-but, but I thought i-it was just a legend! This can't be happening!" He tried to think of what to do, what to tell Ryder, how to turn back into a regular pup, and- wait- "That's it!" He thought, overjoyed at having found the solution.
"Sunflowers! All I need to do to turn back into regular old me is to sniff a sunflower! I just need to go to Sunflower Valley, and hopefully they have some sunflowers I can sniff!" And without a second thought, ran off to Sunflower Valley with his much more athletically superior body."
He ran for probably an hour, bounding over logs, dodging rocks, and sprinting across meadows, whose trees' leaves had browned, yellowed and reddened in the early fall season.
As he neared, Rocky was so excited to finally have this nightmare over with. But, to be honest, he did like having such an athletic body. He ran over the top of the hill, waiting for the yellow colours to fill his retinas, but once he crested that small hill, he looked down at the valley, and-
There were no sunflowers. Not a single solitary flower in sight. He looked around, panicked, and as he surveyed the barren valley, with all its trees whose leaves were already beginning to fall, he realized one thing: there are no sunflowers anywhere at this time of year. The sunflower harvest had ended almost a full month ago. They'd never survive in the fall.
"How could I be so stupid! Obviously there are no sunflowers this time of year! It's way to late for that!" He thought, frustrated and scared all at the same time. "What do I do? What do I doooo?" He silently sobbed, racking his brain for an answer. And then, another idea came to him. "Wait, doesn't Chattilan have a flower shop? What if they have sunflowers? They probably do; or , at least, I hope they do. I just need to go to Chattilan's flower shop then, and hope for the best!" And with that mindset, he was off again, bounding into the distance as he sped to the nearby town of Chattilan.
A/N So whatdya think, guys? Again, hopefully I can upload chapters relatively regularly, but I can't promise anything. I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter, and if you liked it please review! It'd mean the world to me! Peace.
